Is Orange & Fuchsia Too Loud for a Wedding?

Hi — I'm getting married in June of 2007 and I really like the idea of combining fuchsia with some kind of orange. But I'm having trouble finding the right flowers if I dress my bridesmaids in that color. Can you help me — and reassure me that these colors aren't too loud? — Kristina

Dear Kristina:

Fuchsia and Orange together can be absolutely wonderful. How you pull it off will depend a lot on the overall look you want to create.

If you are going to a romantic, soft look, then you will need to tone it down a bit. A bouquet with a variety of colors: pale pinks, white, pale yellow, and just a few hints of orange and fuchsia will bring in those colors softly.

One of the bouquets shown here is done in different color roses. If you decide to go this route, make sure to follow suit in your decor: soft colors, and a few strong accents. Another thing to consider is a softer bridesmaid color. Sashes are very popular right now, and a bridesmaid dress in a softer color with a nice bright sash would look stunning. Perhaps pale pink with alternating orange and fuschia sashes?

On the other hand, if you have a flair for the dramatic, these two colors can be used to create a beautiful and yet unique statement at your wedding as well!

monogram favor boxes Start with the bright-colored gowns, and use bright colors for the flowers as well. A brighter bouquet shown here uses fuchsia, oranges and purples for a beautiful and elegant look.

This look is more exotic, so look for flowers with an exotic style: birds of paradise, calla lilies, and so on. (You may want to consider going with silk, as these flowers tend to get costly.)

Then carry the color throughout your wedding. Use bold colors for your centerpieces, wedding cake, napkins, etc. Make sure you also use a bold color for the men's vests and flowers so that it blends together well.

For a cool, contemporary modern look, consider combining your pinks and oranges with bright lime.

For the flowers, pick a simple, streamlined bouquet made with long-stem fuchsia and orange calla lilies, or gerbera daisies.

Then for your decor, use white clean lines everywhere, with just a few color accents.

For example, your tables could be crisp, stark white with clean glass containers filled with limes and water, each tied with orange or fuchsia ribbon, or holding a bright colored gerbera as the centerpiece. Your cake could be all-white with a few orange, fuchsia and lime accents.

You could even have your bridesmaids in white tea-length gowns with orange, fuchsia and lime sashes if you wanted to go all the way with it.

I am getting married June 2010 and wanted to know if orange, yellow with spots of green is to loud for a summer wedding. I am also not to sure what color dresses I should have my braidmaid wear. Can you give me some suggestion?

You can use gerbera daisies, which are available in all those colors, or use a “citrus” theme (lemons, oranges, limes) or just use yellow and orange as your colors and add lots of greenery to your flowers and to your decorating.

I am getting married in feb, and my dresses are kind of that tangerine colorw/ bling on the dresses. the flower girls have tangerine and cream. I want to incorporate bling crystals. Do you think silver would look crazy, plus I want to add color, so I thought like the gerber colors, Just wanting to know if I am on the right track. :? :D

cat,
tangerine, cream , silver would be beautiful and set well with bling and candlelight. silver is a cooler color while gold will warm it up. do you have a pic of the dress? i could make a more sound call. and the silver where were you wanting to use that? also what color are you wanting the guys in? i think a rich brown would compliment tangerine, cream, silver. would look elegant especially since your going with bling. cant wait to hear from you!!

Stacey, thanks for the response. I will take a picture of the dresses so you may see them with the bling, the bling is actually like brooches on them and each dress is diffrent in style. The only place I wanted to use silver was more or less at the Cake table I have these silver boxes (I will take a pic) w/silver satan bows and have them scattered on the table with crystals or rhinestones around , plus on the dinner tables, bling around the tables as well.
I wanted to have a burst of color for the flowers at the table but not sure, plus looooovve the idea and candlelight, I had thought of that as well, love the romance.
I never thought about Brown, would like be a little dull? :? for the men, I thought of black tux or silver tux (but really not sure about that)
Thanks so much for your ideas. I will send pics. ;) :D

Crisis here, my sis wedding is in 2 months, her colour scheme is ivory, gold and burnt orange (not too dark). I am one of her brisesmaids and she left me in charge of organising our dresses, we chose the burnt orange fabric and our dresses are being made by a seamstress.
The junior bridesmaids and flower girls were supposed to wear ivory dresses with burnt orange sashes, however two moms hated it and my sis went ahead and bought champagne gold dresses for all the junior b/maids and f/girls.

The dilemma now is that we do not know how to tie in the two colours of the dresses. Will a burnt orange sash on the gold dress look horrible.

leisel,
actually i wouldnt worry about putting burnt orange sashes around the gold dresses. i would instead give them a bouquet of burnt orange roses and/or rose petals.( for rose petals do a blend of pale yellow almost white with burnt orange and ivory) this would tie it in nicely. since there is gold in the color scheme already then it will compliment it beautifully without the sash. the champage gold (unadorned) will give a perfect contrast to the burnt orange and actually make it flow and look very elegant in pics especially with the burnt orange bouquets i mentioned.
*this is a example of the rose petals. instead with the bm in champagne gold. see how gorgeous this is!!
more ideas that can easily be diy. is have a matching champagne gold sash and at bow center or front side have 1 elegant orange rose bloom. also another idea for the flowergirls is a hair wreath made elegantly with ivory and burnt orange roses with streamers or ivory roses with burnt orange and gold elegant ribbons trailing down. the junior bm will be a little old for this but the lil’ ones would look adorable. for the junior bm why not pull their hair back on sides and let curls hang down. with barrette secure add a burnt orange rose. artificial would be best, it will last longer through the oh how beautifuls and lots of hugs and kisses. i do hope this helps!! i think the mothers will be happy with just a “touch” of burnt orange instead of a sash.

I agree with Stacey . . . use hair ribbons and
flowers to tie things together. And the bridesmaid should wear gold necklaces, bracelets and earrings.

Hi. I’m getting married next year but I’m not sure if it will be in May or June. I’m getting married in New Oleans and I haven’t chosen a venue yet. I’m from California and the groom is from New Orleans so I want to know what I can do to combine california culture and new orleans culture. I’m not even sure what I want for colors. I was thinking either black and gold or victorian lilac and pewter please help!

MJ,
it would be nice to name the tables after places in New Orleans and California. add a touch of both in the food. there is so much creole food that would be sooo good. a louisiana native myself, i say add jambalaya or dirty rice ( for example) tothe menu. then bring in a couple californian foods. another idea is in favors. mardi gra beads and surf board key chains. edible? have pralines and whatever is a native cali have too, like re they famous for a certain cookie or brownie? set on a table with mardi gras mask decor mixed with palm leaves etc. another thing you could do is have your rehearsal dinner louisiana style and have your wedding california with the louisiana favors( pralines be sure to include the recipe) or use the grooms fave foods. once you get your venue i will take a look at it to see which colors will work best. dont forget the jazz band to liven things up, carrying umbrellas and form a parade!! and toss some mardi gra beads. new orleans is by the water too, so you could really blend the two easily. use the ocean as your inspiration. if you did this it would make it much simpler cause it would fit both places. fleur di lis would be a great motif.
*real wedding mardi gras
*mardi gras wedding theme
*french quarter wedding
*wedding board fleur di lis
*new orleans wedding board

okay! i found what would work perfectly!! they have a venue on bourbon street that has a courtyard with palm trees lit with lights. it blends the colors and the orchids that would give a bit of both cultures. have the favors like i suggested and you have it!!
* classically natural wedding board ( this is just gorgeous!!)
here is the venue:

Go with California cuisine and wines for dinner . . . but
for the rest . . . strictly NOLA! When they intoduce the wedding party, live jazz music (if possible!).
I helped design a cake several years ago for a friend
who got married during Mardi Gras . . . all white
with 3 layers . . . the bottom layer had silhouette
of jazz musicians (in black), the second layer was
made to look like a piano keyboard, the top had
fleur di lis (made to look like wrought iron) (you could
do other layers with musical notes or a harlequin
pattern). Top the cake with red roses, a gold crown,
or a black or gold mask with a large black feather plume. Drap some beads over the top of the cake . . . or mix with black and gold feather boas and surround the cake table with them. See if the bakery you use
will put some Grand Mariner in the cake! Also, check
out the prom websites, like Stumps and Anderson’s for
ideas. See if you can find an iron sign like the ones they have in the French Quarter, and have your
new last name put on it, and use it has a decoration
(or a cake topper). For an inexpensive favor, use
ribbon to tie together 2 mini bottles of Tabasco sauce
(available at the Tabasco site’s store) 144 mini bottles
are $52 + shipping and handling (you may find them
at a store in N.O.). Beads pictured are from http://www.beadsbythedozen.com and the lantern candleholder is from http://www.accentannex.com. Good Luck!

Hi i’m getting married in the caribbean may 2010, I’ve chosen fushia and coral as my theme as it matches my braidmaids who are ivory with hints of coral and fushia the same for the flower girls. I’ll be wearing ivory also.
But i’m confused as to what to put the groom and best man in.. As it is so hot they can’t be wearing suits, but i still want it to be very formal. We will all be wearing it again for a blessing and a reception when we get back.
Any suggestions?

i would have the girls try on the colors from your color scheme to see if their skintones look good in either. i think champagne dresses with burnt orange or chocolate sashes and the guys in simple brown tux or suit with champagne vest and ties. the orange and brown would pop against this.

kayla,
are you having a theme etc? ithink these colors would be fine as long as you do them right. i am thinking lots of white linens with runners. have centerpieces of deep pink and deep orange flowers mixed with winter evergreens or ice crystal branches for a wintry feel( if you choose) then add lots of candlelight everywhere. or you can keep it simple with creamy white linens as the backdrop, and then add deep yet bright orange and pink. that would make a great looking wedding! think pink and orange tulips for a more minimalist look( they are in season in winter)

kayla,
hi i am back! i was trying to find this pic from a wedding show. i just knew it would fit perfectly!! see the branches holding the candleholders? it would fit in the wintry feel too. you could also go to a craft store and buy icy lookingbranches , if you wanted, but due tothe colors i think i would keep the branches plain. you could keep this decor amped up or you could choose to make it more subtle. i would, add a metallic to this. in this case silver. only through your metal accents though. although it would look amazing to have your bm in a gorgeous silvery grey( or take cue from the linens and put them in champagne.) the guys could wear black with grey or champange vests and ties. i wouldnt put them in pink or orange, since the reception decor has so much. just make sure the dress colors suit the bm and the guys skintones. let me know whattcha think!!

jessica,
what is your color scheme? i would choose a simple neutral color even for a spring wedding. i would take the girls and get them to try on colors that are in or compliment the scheme. navy blue is a perfect choice! so are black, grey, champagne. the bm may find they love the way brown looks on them. any of these colors can have a pop of color added in the shoes or jewelry, even a sash. if your looking for an overall great color for skintones periwinkle is a hit. if you i use a neutral pull in the spring bouquets there in fab colors! you will get your overall effect of spring and your bm will smile with confidence!
go check out the new brides magazine and color studio section on page 232. you will see how you can take basic colors and doll them up with accents and it presents the same idea as a full color dress. its a great concept!! plus the bm could wear this again. i tried to find a link but couldnt they havent posted one yet. at least you will see if this is something youd consider!! good luck!!

Okay, first a couple of suggestions about fabric . . . stick with
chiffon, stay away from anything shiny. In photos, fabric
should flow over the body, shiny fabric accents parts of the
body . . . which is fine for your size 6, B cup future sister-in-law,
but not for your size 20, DD cup cousin or your size 10, A cup
sorority sister. ’nuff said! I agree with Stacey, navy is slimming,
dark, yet crisp. All or mostly white flowers (white roses or
a bouquet of daisies) would look wonderful. However, I’m old-fashioned . . . I think lilac and/or pink are wonderful, feminine
basics. If you think pink is too “cotton candy-ish”, try Alfred
Angelo’s shrimp. Pink does wonders for everyones skin tones,
and shows up great in photos. A simple pearl earring, a neutral-to-pink lipstick, and maybe . . . even short white gloves . . .
classy, classy, classy. Again, SOFT pink  , not a pink you need sunglasses to look at! If you’re going with a
nature/garden/wilderness/eco theme . . . try celadon (the only
green anyone can wear) or raisin(also called rosy brown).

No matter what other colors you choose to go with coral,
you have to go for a “sunny” vibe. Bamboo, palm fronds,
ferns, etc. would be nice accents. Or go more or a summer garden look with gerbera daisies in coral, pink and green.
Either way, white chairs and a white gazebo or arch for a
crisp look. A beach party or a colorful garden picnic . . .
it works either way. (And Stacey, I’ve never had a cake

melinda,
i would put brown with this. if the guys wont wear brown have black suits or tux with brown vest and tie. have dreamsicle orange and cream flowers everywhere. pull in a crystal theme. adding crystals to bouquets, arch, and around centerpieces, use glass containers. your bm should be very happy with brown. another fab color would be navy blue with creamy orange and cream. you could always lighten to peach, or add shades of orange from light to darker. it would be so pretty. make sure you have plentyof white florals. another color scheme that is so amazing is grey. grey and orange of any shade is a hot ticket right now. google image orange and grey wedding. consider white edible glitter on white cake. just make everything sparkle. crisp white linens with whit eplates and brown napkins then add shades of orange roses as centerpiece, wow!!

I agree, brown is your color. It is classic, looks good on all sizes . . . and is GORGEOUS with corals or orange, or apricot.
It can be warm or cool, depending on how you use it.
And a suggestion . . . larger women look better in larger jewelry. Tiny little necklaces and earrings don’t show well.
Larger, costume jewery is better.

some cheap ideas are glass vases with pink water and floating candle, and/or submerged rose. just use food dye to tint water your desired shade.
also google image inexpensive wedding centerpiece also try rose petal centerpiece( scattering a generous layer of rose petals and mixing in votives is ALWAYS a cheap way to go.)

jessica, also gogole image submerged rose centerpiece.
if flowers are not an option consider greenery in vases spilling over to the table top. another idea is have pedestals of cupcakes or edible favors in organza bags with luscious ribbon tied to the bags trailing to to the table top.. instantly beautiful!! if you have favors it is easier to dress those up with pretty ribbons or stack favor boxes into a tower on each table = double duty decor.

Find some pink and white christmas ornaments and put them in a large clear glass container or buy ornament stands (which you can get for $2.99 ea)and hand paint ornaments and add a white ribbon bow or fill them with pink candy, or pink shredded paper or shredded foil. See the photos.

Instructions for the clear ornaments are at
http://www.save-on-crafts.com, click on projects, then wedding favors. The candy is also available at that site.

go to http://www.ehow.com and type in “gift box centerpiece”.
Basically, take a few small boxs, like tissue boxes, wrap them in
your wedding colors, tie a bow on them, maybe add a flower,
and viola!, a centerpiece. I’m famous for this centerpiece-
I use it all the time at showers. Also, if I find small gift bags
that are appropriate, I’ll put some contrasting tissue paper
inside, so some is sticking out the top, and add that, too.
Go to the dollar stores FIRST to look for gift wrap. If you
can’t find ones that are the right color, use gold and/or silver
wedding wrap. Add some curling ribbon (it’s dirt cheap!),
and if you want to, sprinkle confetti over the top of the boxes,
letting some fall onto the tablecloth. Just use “chunky” boxes,
no cereal boxes, etc. The ones I like best are about the size
a mug would come in. If you use light boxes, like tissue boxes,
stick some filler (bottle caps, a few small rocks, etc.)
to weigh down the boxes OR use full tissue boxes. HINT: take some paper and make
“gift tags”, about 3×5″, and hang them from one of the gifts with
ribbon, and put your table numbers on them. Just be sure
to tape the numbers so they hang correctly and don’t flop
around.

This is what I was writing about in the previous post-
a gift “tag” for a table number. This is on computer paper,
I add contrasting cardstock to the back to make it more
sturdy, then add it to the gift box centerpiece.

I am getting married in June 2010, I am wearing GOLD jewelery.
If I want peach as one color what other colors would be compatible with Peach. Furthermore 3 out of 4 bridesmaids are having tanned complexion.

sithara,
can you tell me what color your venue is? this will make all the difference in choosing a color. if you could post a pic or link. i would be totally happy to check it out. difficult to determine without looking at the venue colors first; it needs to flow. yes the burgundy would be stunning. so would green and peach. google image green and peach wedding. another color and a striking combo would be peach and champagne using deeper orange peach bouquets. the best thing you can do is take the girls and let them try on colors. it might be they wont all wear the same tone.

last idea: use different shades of the peach from dark to light. pair this with brown dresses or a shade from the peach family for your scheme. you could also put them in coral with light peach flowers. would be stunning!! guys in black, brown or charcoal tuxes/suits. another color i almost 4got about is aqua. is goes very well with peach and looks good on tanned skintones. i also included yellow, this is a beautiful combo! dont know if its the right shade for the skintones though.

Hi,

I am attaching images of the hall and the hotel…
As you can see it has dark green carpets with white and gold roof and walls…

Also my wedding will be a NIGHT FUNCTION… both the ceremony and reception will be at the same HALL.

my bridesmaids and I will be wearing Indian sarees.. I have attached an image about the likes of the dress…(different colors though..)

Could you tell me whether “Peach, fuchsia and/or Orange” will look nice on bridesmaids with gold jewelery.

Thanks again

Sith

Hi Sith,

Peach, fuchsia, and organge will all look great with gold jewelry and will work well too with a venue that has gold walls. Gold is a warm color and peach, fuchsia, and orange are also warm colors. The walls for our reception venue were also gold and fuchsia and tangerine were the colors used for our reception. It looked beautiful. Now, that you say that the bridesmaids are wearing saris, I even more in favor of you doing a fuchsia and orange wedding. Fuschsia and orange are great colors for an Indian-themed wedding! With our wedding, we varied the shades of pink and orange. For example, the bridesmaids wore watermelon gowns and the groomsmen wore peach shirts and ties. At the reception we had fuchsia and orange table decor. :D

sith, i agree with delores. i think the girls would look great in either peach or fuschia. i think i would get them to try on peach though. adding bouquets of peach and orange flowers with fuschia accents would be nice. you can use peach and orange because they are in the same color family one being a little deeper than the other. so by all means add them both!! google image orange and fushia wedding. actually looking at saris, i love the deep peach it is gorgeous!! yeah its my fave!! i also included a pic of bm in fuschia. so you could look at it. the other 2 pics are just beautiful! would work in the room. i especially love the bold colors against a neutral table cloth it adds a little something i think. a shimmery champagne linen would be just gorgeous!! or a light champagne gold.

I agree with Stacey, peach and coral or peach and apricot. VERY soft and feminine. Peach highlights gold jewelry well and looks good on every skintone, from redheads to dark African-American skin.

Im getting married in March 2010. I really like natural but also like the colour burnt orange and olive green. Do these colours match. Im worried it might look to dark. Please could you send me pictures of these colours that have been used before. I love the idea of using gold fish for the orange colour. I love the theme of hearts. I love fairy lights and candles. Would this all look nice. Im not a very creative person.

cheryse, i found some things tolook at but the color may be off.

yes it is beautiful and perfect together. i will forewarn fish may go bellyup, this is a problem that many brides have had. it sounds like you may want a enchanted garden look. use the candles and string fairylights. use ribbons and tulle for an enchanted look with alot of greenery mixed in. if you are still uncomfy with deeper sage then consider light sage.

I love your color choice! Think about adding wood elements to your theme. Wood boxes or vases for your centerpiece.
Maybe driftwood and votives in sage and burnt orange votives.
Your theme colors are relaxing, I think both “woodland” and
“spa”.

As for the flowers I found that pulmerias are very pretty and they have them in the pink and orange colors if you like the tropical look also hot pink and orange roses look good together also. i made a wedding board to show what those colors look like in an elegant but simple setting. the bm dress sash could easily be changed to a shade of pink, i would keep it pale pink.

Just thought you would like to see some of our orange and fuschia pics from our July 19, 2009 wedding. My husband decorated the wedding suite with the colored petals…who knew men would pay attention to the color scheme. We used goldfish with fuschia colored sand on the tables. It was happy, vibrant and so many people commented how great they looked together.

crystal,
have bridesmaids try on these 2 colors, see how it looks against their skintone. another suggestion would be putting them in black and have guys in black. it looks super chic. and the colors pop against it.
google image orange and fuschia wedding it will give you some visuals to see which direction you want to head. i am a big fan of a wear again nuetral with this color scheme. you can also look at this end of the spectrum and pick a lighter shade of orange or fuschia family. the colors will look amazing against it also. sashes are a wonderful way to add color. you can take a simple black cocktail dress and tie a fuschia sash around it and its amazing, add the flowers and its upscale without alot of effort. the girls could wear these dresses again. another color i have seen, is chamapagne with the guys in black and champagne suits the boutonnieres had the bold color. i read this as a general rule of thumb.
Pair bolder colors with 1 neutral for a flowing color scheme.

hi kay, she can wear black if she chooses it would be elegant, it can be mixed with a color. or she can pick a shade belonging in the pinkish or purplish family(not fuschia of course ) like a rose, lavender, pale pink, anything in those type shades. personally i think a black dress would be a classic with a mix of pink and fuschia flowers in her corsage. she could also go against grain and choose an elegant grey, as long as it goes with the color scheme you have chosen, in this case fuschia. black strappy shoes would work with this very nicely.

I had a fuscia/lemon yellow/mango orange colour inpired wedding. Mainly used the lemon and mango colours as accents. I did most of everything that can be made before the actual day myself. Here’s a pic of my BMs.

I let them choose whatever style they wanted as ling as it was cocktail length. I made them necklaces and bought their shoes.

if you cant find waht your looking for, go to a fabric store and buy bolts of this color fabric if you have a seamstress in the family pay her to whip them up for you along with sashes!! sometimes this is a cheaper way to go depending on fabric.

Also try ebay for wedding overlays or table runners … try spelling “fuchsia” a couple of different ways (like fushia) for best results :P Or leave out the color and just browse the overlays and see what you see.

That color scheme will be perfect! It seems like you and I have a lot in common. My bridesmaids are wearing black cocktail dresses but the maid of honour is wearing fuchsia. Their hair will have an accent of either orange or fuchsia and they are wearing jewelry that will either be fuchsia or orange also. I didn’t want one colour to overpower the other since fuchsia and orange are the main colors. I applaud you for stepping outside of the box. Honestly, those colours look fantastic against the black and your bridesmaid will feel beautiful. What color shoes were thinking of? We are going with black. “Apparently” colored shoes would make it look like a carnival. You can’t have it all right? ;) I have found awesome decorations at Luna Bazaar. Also, the hostess are wearing jcrew dresses in an accent colour. Have a look at their site because they have to die for sales right now. I got their dresses for $30 each 2 days ago. Hmmm…what else? I’m using black river rocks to tie in some of the black but don’t intend on using black anywhere else. Feel free to drop me a line and I’ll share some more ideas with you. My wedding is next may as well. :)

I’m getting married Spring 2010 in Vancouver (Canada) and I went pink and orange because in Vancouver the cherry blossoms are full bloom in April (pink) and my fiance’s favourite color is orange. My wedding dress is pastel pink, so my sister wanted a fuschia bridesmaid dress. She picked a hot pink Alfred Angelo, but replaced the ribbon belt it comes with with a bright, bright length of orange ribbon (she got it at a ribbon store in Toronto, but you could probably get something similar at Michaels)

Anyway, if you’re choosing “unusual” colors, it’s a good way to be coordinated in bridesmaid dresses. I think unusual bridesmaid dresses, even wedding dress colors are going to become more common, especially in Canada where weddings tend to be less traditional than in the States.

Gray and Orange - Following The Trend
Orange and Grey Wedding Decor

just some pics i thought id throw in there and youd love !!

jcrew.com ( they had great dresses at great prices)

have you tried your local dress shops? bridal stores? department stores? major department storeswith this chic color combo i would choose a tea or knee length style. if you know a GREAT seamstress you could find a pattern and have them made. sometimes its cheaper.

See this 188FA style from Aria bridesmaids.

one more website. i dont know what your budget is but these dresses are not THAT bad. i saw a long dress by bari jay in a bride book for $198.00, its beautiful though. and they have stores everywhere. which, never know, you might be in search of bari jay and luck up on something perfect and a little cheaper on your mission for this label. i believe in luck like that!! :D also check out watters and watters their bm collections. i am looking at a knee length dress with a built in sash, empire waist. $106.00, reasonable. i love that its wear again too. i love dresses that go past the wedding day, even wedding dresses too. !! makes sense!! :D

Hello ladies,

I thought I was alone when I decided to have orange and pink as my colours - I think they look fab together. It’s great to hear more of you are going for these bold colours and that we can share ideas. I have been looking on ebay for dresses and there are a loads of people in China that will custom make dresses to the style, size and colour you want - and at great prices. I think this is where Im getting mine from.

Hello Ladies…So ever since I started reading all of your comments, I decided that I was going for the Hot Pink/Orange look. But then, I saw Dawn P.’s comment where she gives the name of some bridesmaid dresses and some links to some more pink and orange. So these colors are more pastel, but they look really good. They look a bit more elegant, and I think I am sticking to those colors….THANKS DAWN!!!!!

Hello ladies,

I am getting married on Sept 19, 2009 and I have chosen fushia and orange as my colors. As far as bridesmaid dresses I was thinking about finding something simple enough that I could add a sash. I haven’t decided what color they will wear but whichever one I will just add the sash in the opposite color. Just an idea.

When I think pink & orange bridesmaid gowns I think of Aria bridesmaids. I am love with their colors, designs but most of all their fabric, silk shantung which for me just transforms the bridesmaid look and makes it beyond beautiful — a dress you really would never ditch at the thrift store after the fact. Here are a few pics, one maybe close to your colors, and the other just to show how beautiful a simple overlay design is in their fabric.

My advice would be to find a designer that carries the exact color orange you want and then choose the style of dress. The colors all look different from one designer to the next, Good luck!!

Hi Hope,
For your tablecloths, you will want something that will make you (your dress) stand out. So if your dress is ivory, go with a contrasting color for the cloths. Black will look very elegant. Regarding your flowers, I think going with all shades of pink will look stunning. Ensure you throw in fuchsia flowers too (gerberas). Also peonies in any shade of pink are so pretty. Peonies stand out so pretty. And it will look cute too if you add green, stringy, things. Not sure what they are called. I attached a few pictures of the center pieces I had for my bridal shower. Hope this helps!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! You will have a blast!

My new hubby and I were married June 14 in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, my hometown. Our photographer was so great that he gave us our photos in four days!

After spending 2 months looking for a wedding gown, we planned our wedding in 4 months trying to beat the hurricane season. It was extra special to me coordinating everything including DIY projects such as centerpieces, programs, pew markers, gift bags, and even decorating the wedding cake myself.

My most favorite part of our wedding ceremony was our Unity Sand Ceremony.

It was a blessed day.

Hi. I am getting married December 14, 2008. I am 45 and my fiance is 50. We are having a very formal traditional wedding at a pier outside on a lake at sunset. Colors: Fuschia, and the guys wearing black with silver and the groom is wearing black w/white. Decor: fuschia and silver candles and those lovely glass balls that you use for flower arranging. the glass pebbles fuschia and silver. Where can I get the glass pebbles? Any ideas on bridesmaids gowns? I am having 6 girls. I want satin but my girls are various sizes. My dress is that poofy sleeves lots of lace Cinderella type of get-up. For flowers I was thinking of the pink and white pointsettias (sp). I know, I know but its the fiance’s first wedding and he is Italian. So this is all about him. :D

I want to find a website where I can see these color combinations…..

Dianna-
A deep red color will be more dramatic, while fuschia is more of a bright and fun color. Both will work great with black and white, it just depends on which you prefer.

Also, consider the items you will be buying (bridesmaid dresses, mens’ vests, decorations, and favors). Which color would you be able to find in the items you want to get? Consider skin tone and color- some people don’t look as great in a color as others. For insance I can’t pull off red unless it’s the right shade, but I can wear most fuschia shades just fine.

I wish you luck for the wedding of your dreams!

The bridesmaids are wearing a neutral color dress, a champagne /beige color, so that way they can easily wear it again.

Hi Melissa,

I’m getting married June 14, 2008, and I’ll be posting pics after the wedding. We’ve been planning since December. Our centerpieces will be those mini chandelier votive stands from giftsforonegiftsforall.com We’re using the floral picture frames also from giftsforonegiftsforall.com to hold the table numbers. We’re also using those smaller votive holders from orientaltrading.com, and I purchased preserved rose petals from flyboynaturals.com in “gingersnap” and “tango”.

This is a response to Melissa about keeping your flower bill down and how do you make a great centerpiece.

I have orange and fuschia on July 19, 2008..

I have all white table linens. In the middle I have a tall, meduim and small votive candle holders with orange candles. I then have a tall hurricane holder with fuschia crushed glass in the bottom and we are having two goldfish swimming around. I then have some orange glass discs scattered around that area. It looks great and quite reasonable.

I got the 3 sized votive holders at Target.com and then the large one at Hobby Lobby…a local hobby store. I can’t remember the website for the orange discs but they are all over and if you scroll down you can find an old post of the crushed glass.

Hope this helps. Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions. Oh, I also made round menu’s that fit on the top plate in fuschia…add’s more color.

Ann

Mecca, check out Snippet & Ink’s Berry Bliss (click here), the colors are persimmon, green, and “berry” a.k.a. fuchsias and pinks. Personally I really, really love persimmon. It’s one of those underused colors that just looks sizzling hot in a bridesmaid dress, a very womanly color if you know what I mean, and it has that subtle touch of east indian to it. A great color to plan a wedding around.

Dear Melissa,

I do have a suggestion! I’m going to let you in on a little “secret” of mine - something I utilize off and on here in Vallarta because our access to a lot of the things you have in the States, Canada and the UK are so much more extensive! That is buying glass vases and covering them with chiffon fabric and other fabric that isn’t too heavy in order to create a certain “look” with a certain color … similar to the photo attached, although the colors here are different! If you get back to me in a month, I’m utilizing this same technique for another wedding (although not their centerpieces) in pinks, oranges, sand and chocolate brown so you can get a better idea of how it will look!

Another idea you might want to think about would be to fill glass vases with colored water and float roses or a stem of orchids inside … you don’t need to use something as tall as what I utilized for the photo attached - I think a much smaller vase would still give off a great effect!

best wishes,
mishka

Hello Ladies! I am getting married next year and our colors are fuchsia and orange. Does anyone have any ideas for simple centerpieces- without flowers? I’m trying to find a cute idea to use for half of the centerpieces, so I can cut down on flower costs. Thanks!

Our wedding is on the 07th June 2008 in Cork. I am wearing white and I also have silver throughout my dress and a silver bow at the back of my dress with silver shoes and silver earings and silver bracelet. My bridesmaides are wearing fuschia pink dresses with silver shoes and a fuschia shaul, our groomsmen are wearing black suits with fuschia cravats and fuschia hankie (sticks out of their top pocket) In the church I am having a small wreath on every pew with whote ribbon and 2 gerberas, I was thinking 1 fuschia and 1 white gerbera. I am putting white large pew bows hanging draping down from the windows and having silver cover church booklets with fuschia pink ribbon. In the reception room I am having the white napkins tied with a fuschia ribbon and their will be white chair covers with fuschia bows, we might do every second cover a lighter pink, not yet decided. I am having 2 ferrero rocher’s in every wine glass and then maybe a silver ribbon aroudn my 3 tier cake (seperate tiers) with gerberas on the 2nd and 3rd tier. What colour bouquet’s would you go and buttonieres and corsages???? I love colour but I still want our wedding to look classy and modern not like a circus…..Every florist I go to has a different opinion.. In the beginning I was thinkign o having all different colour gerberas for the girls and then do the same for me and put a few whote gerberas in my bouquet what do you think??

I am getting married outside in June with the Fuschia and Orange colors. We have ordered all real flowers, at least for the inside portion(reception)My girls are wearing tee-length black dresses so the colors will really pop. My centerpieces are black bubble vases tied with the color ribbon and filled with the gerber daisys. The vases will sit on mirrors for the added emphasis.
If you use candy for favors I highly suggest the orange m-ms if you use the candy but the pink was not my color. Let me know if you need anything…I have been doing lots of research! 2 months away!!

I thought of accenting with ivory, but I like the idea of COLOR, like fushia, bright orange, what other color shoud I use. I was thinking of the table linens to be a color with the flowers.:-?:( confused.

HI Kelly
Have you tried to look on the Aflfred Angelo website? They have bridesmais dresses with orange & fushia together, or just orange , or just Fushia. You should definetely chack it out. One of the pictures they have posted on the webpage has those colours as a combination together. One bridesmasi is wearing Fushia, the other orange and the 3rd is wearing orange with a Fushia ribbon around her waist. Very cute.

Kelly…I don’t know if they have a David’s Bridal close to you, but they have a rich orange color called persimmon that I am using in my wedding to accent my bridesmaid’s fuschia colored dresses. It’s definitely not that orange creamsicle color that most places have. You should definitely check it out if there is one nearby. :D

Hi, I am so excited! I am having an outdoor wedding in the summer. I want my color to be orange with fushia and lime green as accent colors. I like bright colors, especially since it will be outside. Im planning on using orange tiger lilies as my main flower. I am having a hard time finding bridesmaid dresses. I want something short but nice in a rich bright orange. Many companies seem to mellow the orange out or make it look rusty. Any suggestions on where I can find the colors I am looking for?

More proof of the mightiness of orange and blue! Darn, I fell head-over-heels with this combo. I need to go paint some walls or something.

The first two pics, I lost the link, I could slap myself. I will find it, tho — anyone interested in orange/blue has got to see the rest of this wedding. What about that beautifully subtle pattern on those BM gowns? Isn’t that hot?

The last pic is from a glorious San Diego wedding snapped by the talented Sarah McGee.

Hi Samantha,
Black tuxedos and orange vests/ties does not look Halloweenish. I got married last May and used exactly that. It was the perfect combo actually. We used black tux with black shirt and orange tie and vest. They matched my girls orange dresses perfectly.
The groomsmen photo I attached doesn’t show the vest. But if you want to see more pictures, you can email me at jannet02@hotmail.com.

Happy planning everyone! ;)

I am having an orange and fuchsia wedding (actually tangelo and lipstick are the alfred angelo colors) on August 10th 2008. It is a moroccan theme as well so there are lanterns and accents of gold eveywhere. The lanterns below are very similar to mine. I am using for the center pieces willow branches and giant fuchsia dahlias in moroccan tile vases with tons of candles around. The cake is going to be orange with fuchsia mendi scrollwork. I haven’t decided on what color table linens and such to use. But I was also concerned about the “Halloween” look to the tuxedos, I am still using black tuxedos but I am thinking about a lighter more creamsicle color orange for vests and ties.

This site is great. I love everyones idea.

Sup,
Your wedding is going to be beautiful. Along with the maroon and turquoise you have already chosen, I would add bright reds, gold, and purple. I am using theses beautiful lanterns hung from free standing hooks for my centerpieces and they would look perfect with your colors. They are at PinchPaw.

They are bronzed metal with red and turquise glass. When you get to pinchnpaw website go to Earthshop, then Candleholders and Lanturns.

I am having an Indian wedding at a botanical gardens in August. For my bridesmaids’ outfits (sarees), I’ve selected a dark turquoise to complement my maroon outfit with dark turquoise sequins. Now I am considering which colors I should select for the tablecloths, decorations, and flowers. Given the natural greenery of the venue, I’d like not to choose green nor white (it would look washed out). What color(s) do you think would complement dark turquoise for a summer setting in a botanical gardens- something that really pops? I’m going for a sophisticated look. Thanks! ;)

I am also using Hot Pink and Orange for my wedding which is July 26 2008. The BM are wearing black dresses but there flowers will be hot pink and orange. The guys are wearing a black tux and shirt and the tie is orange. I plan for the flower girls dresses to be orange and the ring bearer is wearing the same as the groomsmen. The guest tables at the reception are going to have white linen with a black overlay and the centerpieces are the tall flute vases with hot pink and orange floral arangement sitting on a mirror and tea light candles on the mirror so the candlelight can reflect off the mirror.

Check out their site for heartbreakingly perfect tables and risk having your standards uncomfortably raised forever! Here are a few pics of green and fuchsia themes they’ve done.

Then, a lovely bouquet from The Bride & Bloom, a site with no shortage of truly innovative flower and decor ideas.

Okay, here is a serious treat for anyone having an orange and pink wedding. Allegra gave me permission to post some of her wedding shots. That was a few weeks ago, right when the contractors came in and starting knocking everything down here.

When I finally saw them I realized I would have a serious problem choosing just three or six pictures. It was impossible. So I started putting them together, trying to limit myself as much as possible for practical reasons. Didn’t really succeed!

I know ‘elegant’ is the most overused word ever for weddings, but anyone having a hard time picturing fuchsia, orange, and elegance HAS to check out this quick taste of Allegra’s gorgeous garden ceremony/pink & orange wedding. Thank you Allegra! :?
