Is Orange & Fuchsia Too Loud for a Wedding?
Dear Kristina:
Fuchsia and Orange together can be absolutely wonderful. How you pull it off will depend a lot on the overall look you want to create.
If you are going to a romantic, soft look, then you will need to tone it down a bit. A bouquet with a variety of colors: pale pinks, white, pale yellow, and just a few hints of orange and fuchsia will bring in those colors softly.
One of the bouquets shown here is done in different color roses. If you decide to go this route, make sure to follow suit in your decor: soft colors, and a few strong accents. Another thing to consider is a softer bridesmaid color. Sashes are very popular right now, and a bridesmaid dress in a softer color with a nice bright sash would look stunning. Perhaps pale pink with alternating orange and fuschia sashes?
On the other hand, if you have a flair for the dramatic, these two colors can be used to create a beautiful and yet unique statement at your wedding as well!
Start with the bright-colored gowns, and use bright colors for the flowers as well. A brighter bouquet shown here uses fuchsia, oranges and purples for a beautiful and elegant look.
This look is more exotic, so look for flowers with an exotic style: birds of paradise, calla lilies, and so on. (You may want to consider going with silk, as these flowers tend to get costly.)
Then carry the color throughout your wedding. Use bold colors for your centerpieces, wedding cake, napkins, etc. Make sure you also use a bold color for the men's vests and flowers so that it blends together well.
For a cool, contemporary modern look, consider combining your pinks and oranges with bright lime.
For the flowers, pick a simple, streamlined bouquet made with long-stem fuchsia and orange calla lilies, or gerbera daisies.
Then for your decor, use white clean lines everywhere, with just a few color accents.
For example, your tables could be crisp, stark white with clean glass containers filled with limes and water, each tied with orange or fuchsia ribbon, or holding a bright colored gerbera as the centerpiece. Your cake could be all-white with a few orange, fuchsia and lime accents.
You could even have your bridesmaids in white tea-length gowns with orange, fuchsia and lime sashes if you wanted to go all the way with it.

Just as I was wondering the same thing, I came upon your post. I am getting married in Jun07 and I agree. I think that orange and fuschia look great together. They are so vibrant and lively. On my happiest day, I want people to feel the jubilee! And when they enter and see those colors I think it will exude happiness. Good luck!
Dahlias are to die for and look beautiful in any vase.
Hello, my pink and fuschia loving ladies! I’m getting married in October next year and am using pink and fuschia. FLOWERS: Peonies are so romantic in their shape and come in a fabulous fuschia color. Could be special order depending on time of year. Tiger lillies come in a great orange. I’m using the peonies in white and fuschia as well as Mums in orange and fuschia because it’s a fall wedding and they’re fall flowers. DRESSES: Alfred Angelo has two colors called Burnt Orange and Magenta that match my scheme perfectly. They’re available in the seperates, too, which is nice. I’m specifying color and just having my bridesmaids pick the styles they’re most comfortable in. Everyone’s happy!
Best wishes to all! Orange and Fuschia are jubilant and joyful and exciting - all the things a wedding should be!
Well, it’s seems as many of us have the same idea. I am getting married june of 2007 and my colors are also fushia and orange. I am having a hard time finding bridesmaid dresses, but I saw one a few years ago by Image studios that was actually both of these colors overlapping sheer. It was awesome.! Good luck with your weddings. Go bold, it’s more fun and just imagine how much more beautiful we women in white will look! ~Terah
I am getting married July 7th 2007 and I am also doing and Orange color for the bridesmaid dresses. I was hesitant at first but then I saw so many beautiful flowers that could go with that. I absolutely love fall colors so I’ll try to incorporate some of that in there. Bottom line is this: Its YOUR wedding and you do what you want!!! ITS YOUR DAY!
P.S. I found beautiful flower ideas that would go great with oranges at http://www.petalsgalore.com
Well iam getting married July of 07 and I want Orange for my color but I can find the right Orange?::-?
I’m a June 07 bride and those are my colors too!
I’m doing a very crisp white with the fuchsia and orange. I’m using a bold color combo but not over done. I’m using more of the hot pink rather than orange…it should be AWESOME! Congratulations on your color choice!
Also, bop around the knot boards. Thats where I got alot of my ideas.
Well i’m getting married in June ‘07.
My friend got married last year. She also used the same colour scheme. It was beautiful. Her bridesmaids looked wonderful. They had an organge bodice and an iridescent fuscia fabric for the skirt, which tied the colours together nicely. I think the only thing you need to worry about is not to use TOO MUCH of the colours. Be sparing and I think it will work out great!

my daughter is getting married inj 6 weeks we also are using fuschia and orange as our colors. Her wedding is going to be an island theme. We’re using bamboo boxes
as our centerpieces with fern and palm tree branches under the boxes. The flowers we are using are orchids, roses, dahlias, lilies, callalillies and lots of greens. The bridesmaids are wearing fuschia, long, v-neck dresses with the same flowers. It should be really pretty. You can use the trendy colors but add your own flare and personalize it to fit your wedding theme.–Lori
It’s nice to know someone else has the guts to do bright colors! I’m also geting married in 6/07 and was thinking of doing fuschia and orange (maybe a little bright green also). But I’m worried that by next summer fuschia is going to be out of style. I try not to be too trendy, but all the colors I see lately are very muted & washed out, and I don’t want my girls looking like fashion victims, you know? - tamara
