Is Orange & Fuchsia Too Loud for a Wedding?

Hi — I'm getting married in June of 2007 and I really like the idea of combining fuchsia with some kind of orange. But I'm having trouble finding the right flowers if I dress my bridesmaids in that color. Can you help me — and reassure me that these colors aren't too loud? — Kristina

Dear Kristina:

Fuchsia and Orange together can be absolutely wonderful. How you pull it off will depend a lot on the overall look you want to create.

If you are going to a romantic, soft look, then you will need to tone it down a bit. A bouquet with a variety of colors: pale pinks, white, pale yellow, and just a few hints of orange and fuchsia will bring in those colors softly.

One of the bouquets shown here is done in different color roses. If you decide to go this route, make sure to follow suit in your decor: soft colors, and a few strong accents. Another thing to consider is a softer bridesmaid color. Sashes are very popular right now, and a bridesmaid dress in a softer color with a nice bright sash would look stunning. Perhaps pale pink with alternating orange and fuschia sashes?

On the other hand, if you have a flair for the dramatic, these two colors can be used to create a beautiful and yet unique statement at your wedding as well!

monogram favor boxes Start with the bright-colored gowns, and use bright colors for the flowers as well. A brighter bouquet shown here uses fuchsia, oranges and purples for a beautiful and elegant look.

This look is more exotic, so look for flowers with an exotic style: birds of paradise, calla lilies, and so on. (You may want to consider going with silk, as these flowers tend to get costly.)

Then carry the color throughout your wedding. Use bold colors for your centerpieces, wedding cake, napkins, etc. Make sure you also use a bold color for the men's vests and flowers so that it blends together well.

For a cool, contemporary modern look, consider combining your pinks and oranges with bright lime.

For the flowers, pick a simple, streamlined bouquet made with long-stem fuchsia and orange calla lilies, or gerbera daisies.

Then for your decor, use white clean lines everywhere, with just a few color accents.

For example, your tables could be crisp, stark white with clean glass containers filled with limes and water, each tied with orange or fuchsia ribbon, or holding a bright colored gerbera as the centerpiece. Your cake could be all-white with a few orange, fuchsia and lime accents.

You could even have your bridesmaids in white tea-length gowns with orange, fuchsia and lime sashes if you wanted to go all the way with it.

I am getting married very shortly with my colours being the same as everyone elses. I chose orange dresses which are a deeper orange and fuschia and fresh green accents. I did not want to do the balck dresses because it was too dark and not fun for a summer wedding at all. Choose the dress colour that you like first and then choose your accent pieces because you can then choose whatever shades you want. We have table runners and dresses that match and then accents for everything else. You just want punches of colour fo rit to look classy so choose what colour you want in the dresses first. Venus bridal has a persimmon colour which is very rich and elegant. It is a nice orange that is not too bright/loud which goes well with the accent colours I chose. The bmaids are carrying orange and green flowers like mine but then my bouquest will have fuschia in it to stand out.
Hope some of that helps.

Okay, once again I am having the pink/orange theme as well. I am really stuck on choosing my bridesmaids dresses. I just dont know about having the black dresses in my wedding but I am afraid I wont be able to find the right pink or orange dresses or it will just be too much. If anyone has any suggestions or any pics that would help me out PLEASE send them to me at amcfee@ashevillesavings.com

Thanks so much!!!

I was married on July 7, 2007 and my colors were fuschia and orange and it turned out beautiful! My bridesmaids wore black, strapless, tea length dresses with fuschia sashes. The bouquets consisted of orange and fuchsia roses, ranunculus and daisies. This color scheme allows you to get SO creative with your wedding favors. My husband is a candy freak so I bought orange and pink rock candy. I tied one of each color together and printed out cute little tags on white cardstock. VERY cute and cheap! I also bought small glass jars online, had labels printed with our monogram and wedding date, and filled them with orange and pink jelly beans. My favors were a total hit and our guests loved them! Since we were married late in the afternoon, I was able to use sparklers instead of bubbles or birdseed (see http://www.weddingsparkers.com). I stuck these in a galvanized steel window box filled with bright pink aquarium rock and it was SO cute! I was so pleased with my color choice! If you use the same you will love it too!

Heather,

Try After Hours for the tux. We got ours there, all black with a coral vest and tie. It was the closest thing to orange but it mixed and looked very good with the bridesmaid’s dresses. I can sent you pics. if you need them.

I am getting married in July of 2008, and I am using bright pink and orange in my colors. I am using Gerbera Daisies for my flowers. I am not sure if I am going to go with the green dresses I originally wanted, but we had thought of black also with the bright flowers. Or maybe a black dress or brighter pink dress and the bright flowers but I think this is perfect colors for summer.

I’m getting married June 08 and I have also decided on the orange and pink (fuschia) colors. I really like the gerber daisy in these colors. I was wondering if anyone had pictures of the pink and orange wedding to show me. If so please email me at SilverHondaChick@aol.com Thank you :D

Hey ladies,
I guess this was the closest similarity I could find to the colors Im having for my wedding. Instead of Fuschia I am using a softer peach- pink (coral), with a deep red rose color. But I am also looking into Gerbera Daisies. Any suggestions?:D>-

Hi girls,

I had no idea that so many people liked the fuschia and orange combo. I am getting married August 08 outside by the lake in the late afternoon and i can’t decide what color dresses my girls should wear. Do you think black would be appropriate? If anyone has pictures of the combo, I would really appreciate if you would share some photos. My email is jslovespink@yahoo.com

Thanks…..Jess

If you have pics with these colors that would help tons. Or even the black dresses with sashes!

just wanted to add that if your looking to use candy as your favors, I would highly recommend http://www.ilovesweettreats.com
this is the site I used to purchase the pink and orange m&m’s and they were much cheaper than m&m.com and they shipped fast!
