Whose Name Goes First on the Invites and Favors?

I just attended a wedding and wonder whose name appears first on a wedding favor?  The female or male?

Dear SG:

As a matter of tradition, women and children go first in shipwrecks, fires and yes, monograms and wedding favor tags. It’s one of those delicious outshoots of chivalry we see preserved in the changing of the guard in the forecourt of Buckingham palace and weddings.

Still, this being the (post-) modern age, you don’t have to subscribe to tradition. You could put him first if his name is Andy and yours is Zoe, for example.

But given that men still make more than women for doing the same jobs, isn’t a little chivalry in order?

I have two questions pertaining to invites. First is do I have to include a quest invite with every single person invited? My list is already running really high and I am concerned about adding so many extras. The second question is about a relitive of mine who is in his late thirties, very shy, and has never brought a date to any thing. Do I invite him and a guest, and pointing out the fact that he does not have a guest to bring, or not invite a guest and
possibly offend him in that way? I need help with this one.

We’re giving out lottery tickets for the draw happening on our wedding day as our favours. For the younger children we are putting a pack together containg colouring books etc, but we are also really stuck for the children of an in between age who are to old for colouring books but to young to have a lottery ticket????

I’m thinking about giving bottles of wine as favors. Do I give one per couple or each person? Can I give a different favor to young children and young adults (under 21)? I would I ensure that couples only took one bottle?
