The Red Wedding Dress

Red wedding gowns — practically a staple in Europe for the last ten years — are making waves on the American scene as well. And for those who love the idea but aren't ready for full-throttle red, there's the red and white gown, maybe with a dramatic red cape or silk pashmina.

But where can you find these bold beauties? We've done the homework, so just click and admire.

All-red gowns are marked with an icon ().

I am (also!) looking for Sincerity 3089 in red in a UK size 12/14/16 (US 8/10/12). Does anyone have it and want to sell it? I’ll pay a reasonable price plus postage from anywhere. Please email sarahnorman21@yahoo.co.uk

Sarah-
The one on the left looks alot like Capri by Maggie Sottero and the one on the right is Nola by Maggie Sottero. You can see the first one at http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?keywordText=fuschia&keywordType=any&page=0&pageSize=8&style=J926 and “Nola” at http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?keywordText=scarlet&keywordType=any&page=0&pageSize=8&style=J190 , I have asked about these same dresses at bridal stores here and although they are still available they are from pervious seasons. Hope that helps!:D

Mistty, take a look at some fall inspiration boards including red, like this one:

http://www.stylemepretty.com/2008/03/reader-inspir-4.html

Go heavy on the chocolate brown and related colors: latte, cream. Bring in copper like the touch of bronzy ribbon in this board. Bring in touches of coral, too, like the mini-callas and a bit of pale green to liven things up. You’ll have a rich palette that is not even remotely goth because it’s so warm and earthly. Check out those birch-bark candles too — a few obvious rustic touches like those also de-goth a wedding. A little faux woodgrain or birch bark would be great here.

HTH!

I am looking for a dark red, wine color, burgendy or crimson wedding gown. I have not had any luck finding dresses that are not strapless. There is two strapless gowns that I love on ebay, but I really need the straps for some extra support. The above pic is of them. Anyone have any suggestions? Anyone know where I could find one of these gowns? I am sure I could find a seamstress that could figure something out. I just dont want to buy from anyone overseas.

Thanks for all your help

Hello All,
I am getting married in fall of 2009 and of course I have a fall theme! I am wearing the red dress above, however, the problem I am having is that I cannot figure out colors for the bridesmaids that would compliment my dress, not make my wedding look gothic, and would still be acceptable with a fall theme. I really like warmer fall colors. I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions or advice on deciding a color scheme to go with my beautiful red dress. Thank you so much! By the way the dress is Lana by Maggie Sottero.

Shelly

I’m all the way in Canada, but fiorenza is my dream dress too. I haven’t ordered it, as the wedding is still over a year away, but I’ll have to do it soon, as I’ve heard they sometimes discontinue gowns.

I’m stressed about the cost though, seeing as the US dollar is so close to Canadian dollar these days… the cheapest I can find the dress is $899 in Canada, but in the states it’s $679.

Now if I only I could find more red dresses that aren’t strapless! Why is that the craze? I’d like a halter top with a tulle/organza ballgown bottom. So tough in central PA to go looking anyway :(

Donna,
The designer for the dress you’re looking for is Justin Alexander. Sincerity is the name of one of his collections.

I am posting Shelly’s maggie sottero, “Fiorenza,” it is unbelievably gorgeous. WOW.

Which reminds me, Sayde, if you’re wanting a traditional veil, look how they staged it in this photo, very clever how they coordinated the red dress with the white veil using that red satin headband/fascinator/flower (hard to tell).

Sayde, personally I would pick a red fascinator or perhaps an organza or silk rose, I think the drama suits these dresses perfectly. Second choice, maybe a red birdcage veil? Here are a few from Etsy & a company called Breeziway just to get the juices going … 1) from Breeziway 2) trulyfallen, 3) by annabronwyn

That’s a great question btw, what is everyone else doing for a headpiece or veil?
