Choosing Your Wedding Colors: A Guide for Designing Brides

There's no question: choosing wedding colors is one of the earliest, trickiest tasks a bride has to cross off the list. You can't even talk your florist until you've worked this out.

And even if you're getting the cake from Ron Ben-Israel, he's not going to ask you whether your wedding theme draws elements from 14th century Venetian court dress ... he'll ask you about your colors.

A mere generation ago, planning the wedding was a lot easier. It expressed your social class, and your parents' tastes. Even if they had particular ideas, the market couldn't offer much in terms of individual design. But these days, your wedding expresses your personal style in a way it never has before. Translation? The pressure's on!

Sussing Out Your Style

Some brides can solve the color question without thinking too much about style. They might have a life-long love for purple. Or, their venue might have strong hues they need to coordinate with. Or, when they picture their wedding, they already see their bridesmaids awash in certain colors. Easiest of all: sometimes they already have a theme in mind.

For others, it's not that simple. Still, you can quickly pin down the styles that get your heart beating almost as fast as your fiancé does. Does Martha Stewart's relaxed, preppy look command your undying devotion? Do you pray you can someday actually subscribe to H&M magazine? Did Vera Wang's modern, moody Bolshevik collections incite heavy breathing? This gives you some major clues.

Home Decor

Destination: Home, Sweet Home

Still, even if you don't consider yourself a fashionista or a Martha devotee, all's not lost. Instead, let's turn our eyes back to home and hearth.

Many brides aren't just looking forward to a wedding, they're also buzzing with anticipation over the dream house they plan to share with their beloved. And in the process of hunting down this love nest, most spent lots time mulling over their personal style. What did you picture in your mind's eye as the right setting for your new life together? A rangy colonial with a gabled roof? A warm, log-sided farmhouse with a wood stove in the kitchen? Or did you dream of finding a downtown loft bursting with recessed lighting and monochromatics, and flip through the new IKEA catalog to pick out your cabinets?

Or consider: do you dream of filling your home with antiques you can pass down to your children? Look to seasonal-inspired color schemes and ballrooms. Plan to drape your bedroom ceiling in yards of mosquito netting? A fairytale wedding drenched in candelabras, gold braid and gauzy swags might fit the bill. Collect exotic objects from all over the planet? Try an art museum for your setting, and a sophisticated or daring palette.

And if you're one of those eclectic types who pairs Amish rocking chairs with aboriginal artifacts, use this old designer trick: think of the last bit of art or furniture you bought to spruce up your house. That tells you what's on your mind lately.

Pink & Champagne Wedding

Your Secret Romantic Style

So, you know your domestic style is Eclectic Contemporary. Congratulations: that means you're holding a black-and-white wedding with chartreuse accents and ostrich feathers in a huge SoHo loft, right?

Hold it: not so fast. Why? Because many brides have a special romantic style that exists in a universe by itself. You might be thrilled picking out Art Deco style spaceships for your pendant lighting. And yet, when it comes your wedding, you might picture something a lot more traditional.

So even if you're the most fashion-forward girl on the block, take a moment to consider whether your wedding vision doesn't actually go back in time by few hundred years. You might secretly harbor a special place in your heart for New England autumns, Victorian elegance, English cottage style, or even timeless fairy tales. And if that's true, rest assured you've got plenty of company.

The Gown's the Guide

But how do you tell if this stylistic gotcha's operating in your case? Here's the secret: go get your dress.

For many brides, The Dress is a journey that starts with many preconceptions, but ends in the unexpected. Finding the dress is usually a case of recognizing it once you've tried it on, not knowing ahead of time what you'll wear.

And once you've found it, the dress will offer some big clues about your Romantic style. Captured by a demure ivory gown covered in Alençon lace, with a button-back closure? Start your search with pastels and neutrals that suit a 1930's vintage or feminine garden wedding. Fell hard for a sleek, diamond white v-neck that's all about the lines? Investigate the crisper, more playful palettes we see today, such as black and white, aqua, bright pinks, lime green and corals.Seasonal

Adjust for Geography, Venue and Season

Now that you've unearthed your personal style, it's time to look outward. If your style's traditional, for example, start with a hotel ballroom. If you want a strong seasonal feel for fall, try a rustic barn. Cultivated gardens go well with traditional, Martha-esque tints. Tents weddings are a blank slate: you can make them as classic or brazenly modern as your heart desires.

Geography, too, plays a role in your colors. Tropical affairs in the blinding sun are often showcases for the brightest hues of all: coral and orchid, for example, or aqua and orange. Evening white-tie affairs in New York City? Not so much.

Many brides are in the middle, and want to weave in at least a seasonal hint. Fortunately for them, most seasons have palettes both traditional and modern. For example, a classic summer wedding might feature cornflower blue or sage, where a modern one draws on fuchsia and lime green, or orange, pink and black.

Even flowers help set the style. For example, a profusion of pinks in a bouquet of roses and peonies says English cottage. Mini-sunflowers and chrysanthemums says New England country. On the other hand, the color blocking in a hand-tied bouquet of purple callas is strongly modern.

Essential Color-Choosing Tools

Now you've got a style in mind, let's get to the art of actually picking colors. Here are a few can't-miss tools.

Color Schemer

You'll need to create a free account, but this wonderful site has user-created palettes aplenty that you can search by keyword. Once you've registered, hit the "search schemes" button and enter words that fit your vision, like "fall,""garden," "sunset," "winter." Or free-associate with adjectives like "nautical," "peaceful," "modern," "preppy" or even "trendy." We promise, you'll be hooked.

Sherwin-Williams Color Generator

Hit their site, and choose "FIND COLOR." Click on any color that draws you, and you'll automatically pull up two accent colors that complement it. Cool.

Big Huge Labs Palette Generator

Have a photo on your hard drive that seems to capture your wedding's heart and soul? Upload it to a palette generator, which will kick out most of the main hues involved. Unless you're on the beach, use one of the more neutral, calming colors as a primary (e.g., use it for bridesmaids or table linens), and the more nervous, high-energy colors as accents (use these in table napkins, chair sashes, ribbons, and some of your flowers.)

Make a Mood Board

Once you've narrowed down some favorites, start grabbing photos (for your own personal use, of course). Make a special folder on your hard drive, and save photos that seem to fit the colors, setting and season you're going for. If you've got any photo editing software, start putting them together in one big image. This will tell you more than thousands of words how your look will play out.

Purple Green

Making the Most of Your Choices

Now that you've got your colors, how can you really make them shine? A problem that plagues some brides is an oversized fear of chaos. Although it's simple, most weddings aren't at their best when the groomsmen's vests and ties exactly match the bridesmaids' gowns, which in turn match the bride's sash.

So, choose your colors wisely and stick with them, but strive for designing more than matching. Brown and ivory are neutrals when chosen thoughtfully, so use their many shades for a sophisticated, monochromatic look. If the bridesmaids wear mocha or persimmon, the men will look great in chocolate brown. And even if the flowers call for a palette of orange and yellow, let a little green or cream sneak in for dimension. Check for too much of a good thing: when the entire wedding party wears matching brown or black, the effect can be overpowering.

And They Lived Happily Ever After ...

When all's said and done, you're sure to have a great feeling about your colors, and how they fit your personal style. Even if the scheme you hit on isn't "I've loved that all my life!", it might be "I never would have thought of that, but I love these together!"

Picking your colors is a journey, just like finding the dress, or knocking all those planning items off your checklist. But hitting on the right colors, theme and setting for the ultimate expression of your own Romantic style? That can be the pleasure of a lifetime.

I am looking to plan a wedding in august. I really like the idea of silver or platinum for the bridesmaid dresses. Not really sure of a theme or if blue or purple would be an option for an accent color. Or should the blue or purple be the color of dresses and silver an accent color. I really like the silver idea. Any suggestions or ideas?

    • Stacey@Favor Ideas

      April,
Depends on what color looks best on your bridesmaids. I personally love the purple and silver.

    Hi Stacey
I am having a destination wedding in the USVI. I am a little confused on the exact shades for my wedding. We love the Kelly Green color and I wanted to add some blue and pink as well. We were thinking Kelly Green, Cobalt Blue, and a splash of hot pink here and there (very subtle, but enough to bring the Caribbean colors alive!). Im just having second thoughts. I love the green and blue colors together…but Im confused on if I should do Kelly, Lime Green, or Clover…and then Im confused on if I should have cobalt blue or navy…too many choices!!! I would love any input. Thanks!

    • Stacey@Favor Ideas

      Cat,
First i want to start with your location. Will any of it be indoors? Do you have a link or pic? Second I want to know the style, modern, vintage touches, etc. Blue and green look amazing together. When I think of the Caribbean I think of bougainvillea or orchids.
      * here is one idea
      * this is gorgeous!
      * your gonna love all this!!
      * and this one!

Let me know what you think!!

      • Cat

I loved all of those! We are having an outdoor wedding, right by the Caribbean sea :) We want a natural, chic wedding with vintage touches. We were thinking of antique rum bottles and tin “buckets” as decor…we aren’t sure about using beach themed items yet. Sometimes starfish and shells can start to look like a Florida motel. But we do want some of that island flare in our wedding, so subtle touches of starfish (maybe as a favor) would look nice. We were thinking of white and hot pink as our flowers, and I wanted the blue and green to be a part of the bridesmaids dresses (alternate? have girls pick own?). I love cobalt blue and I need the perfect shade of green to go with it.
And I love your flower choices!

        • Stacey@Favor Ideas

          Cat,
Here is the board I threw together for ya!

          * if you have trouble seeing the board, here is the link

Now this is one I did based on pirates of caribbean wedding. Whenyou said rum bottles I rememered *this board

          * another board

          * this is aqua but look how pretty.

I LOVE this wedding so much! pair it with a deeper pink and have girls wear cobalt, use trpoical florals in this setting and it would be GORGEOUS!

          * take a look
It combines all of your colors in a vintage touched setting. Add rustic metal pails, rum bottles, etc. and it would look like a shipwrecked theme wedding.

          * see how it compares to the theme board. Definitely a different approach to beach weddings!

Sorry for all the posts. I love the movie Blue Crush and in one scene she is asleep and the ocean (sunrise) is cobalt and the accent colors are sand and white. The orchids are white with pink centers. I think that would be gorgeous too! The scene is stunning! I will make you a board to show what I mean.

    Brides,
I have been on a Elvis Presley kick this week! I went back in time to the wedding of the Presleys that took place in Vegas. Anybody heading to the city of lights for a destination wedding? maybe a local wedding. The Aladdin Hotel and chapel has been remodeled and now is Planet Hollywood Resort. Imagine walking down the aisle that Priscilla did back in 67′ to say her I do’s to the King of Rock and Roll. You can do the same!! I looked at their wedding and tweeked it for a more today feel, still with some classic/vintage-like touches. Didnt want to stray to far from theirs. Notice the dress it is has the same billowy folds as hers. Take the upper lace off of Priscillas dress it would look strapless and also has that tent style drape. They said the cake had pink roses. So I based it with pink. Remember what happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas! ;) :D

  6. ZAIRA

Hi I´m planning a garden wedding this november 2010 it will start at 8 PM. My colors are black and white, Do you think black tableclothes will be too dark for a garden wedding? do you think these colors are nice to a garden night wedding?
    Thanks

    • Stacey@Favor Ideas

      Zaira,
I just love the black and white color scheme. I think it is perfect for anytime especially a night wedding. Black will be difficult to show up without proper lighting. My suggestion is to use white with black accents or black linens with white chairs and white florals lots of candles would be gorgeous!! Lighter colors show up best at night.
      * some ideas
      * real wedding
      * love the pop of crisp green added!!

  8. Kat

    Hi
I need some advice! My fiancee and I cannot decide on the colour theme.
I will be wearing a light gold wedding dress, but I don’t know if yellow would work with gold! Also my fiancee likes lilac, as do I but his cousin just got married and had darkk purple.
Would gold, yellow and lilac work????

  9. Nina

    Hi,

We are planning out wedding next year around this time, we haven’t gotten the date yet but we are working on it. So, I have started thinking about the colors. I really like purple and lilac but one of my close friends had those colors in may of this year so I am trying to avoid them. But I really like royal blue but I am a little concerned that it will be too much and not definetly sure how i would match it up with the whole decorations and etc…I dont want it to be too bluish and boyish but to have a calm and soothing look to it and maybe include some purple or pink flowers???? So if you guys have any comments or ideas, examples feel free to send me, I will really appreciate it ;) … The reception will be in NJ.

    • Stacey@Favor Ideas

      Nina,
What does your venue look like? I could take a look and see. it could help with colors. Also the date would be perfect to narrow down some ideas. let me know!! :D

  10. JAMIE

HEY. CAN YOU HELP ME WITH COLOR COMBO???I ONLY HAVE ONE BRIDESMAID AND A FLOWER GIRL, BUT SURE WHAT COLORS THEY SHOULD BE. OCT. 16 IS THE DATE. NOT SURE WHAT THE FG SHLD WEAR!!!! THOUGHT ABOUT YELLOW/GREEN COLOR COMBO??? THE GROOM WILL HAVE LIGHT KHAKI SUIT, BM WILL HAVE KHAKI PANTS & WHITE SHIRT…NOT SURE COLOR OF TIES…PLS HELP!! STARTING TO STRESS!!

    • Stacey@Favor Ideas

      Jamie,
Do you want a fall theme? It sounds very casual. What colors do you like? and what colors are at the wedding location?

      • Stacey@Favor Ideas

        Jamie,
also what type of theme are you going with? If you are going with khaki, there are lots of colors that would work with that.

      • JAMIE

THEME-rustic-elegant…burlap runners, mason jars?? what about wild flower type flowers?? should I use jars on the side of the chairs filled with flowers instead of the balls of flowers (some people call them kissing balls). the ceremony will take place at an oak tree with the lake in the back ground. the recption will be at a cover picnic shelter. thinking about hanging lights between the trees to dress it up and add light, but still keep the outdoorsy feel.

  11. TANIA-LEE

    Hey Stacey,

Me again. Well my date is set for Dec 16, which is summer time here. The venue is a country estate. Huge Garden with the white umbrellas and table and chairs. I have bought champagne coloured invites so i need colours to match that…please please please help me…..

    Hi Stacey,

I’m getting married 12.11.10 in California and I’ve picked out my colors which are silver, yellow, and green, but I’m having some doubts. I know the colors are a little springy but I really want to use them since green and yellow are our favorite colors. Plus, I was hoping to have a more casual wedding kind of like a picnic in the winter since it doesn’t snow in Cali. Specifically I’m having trouble finding a green that I like. I noticed that sage green is a popular color but personally I’m not a big fan (since it doesn’t go well with my skin tone). Do you think these colors are workable or should I go for different colors altogether? I’m trying to stay away from purple since I’ve already been to 4 weddings this year that all used purple. I’m also trying to stay away from the traditional holiday colors (red, green, and white) and looking for something more unique. Please help!

  13. Courtney

    Stacey,

I’m getting married May 7 2011 at Sunken Gardens in St Pete FL. I’m having a hard time picking a theme/color scheme for my wedding. Sunken Gardens is an experience in itself you literally walk through winding paths and are surrounded by trees and tropical plants. It’s gorgeous. I’m trying to find something that wont overpower the beauty of my venue but that will still make a statement.

I want something sophisticated and fun without being cheesy. I was thinking deep purple with a chartreuse green but any garden wedding pics i find show afternoon weddings and my event will be in the evening (ceremony starts at 6).

Heres a link with some pics of the gardens http://www.google.com/images?um=1&hl=en&tbs=isch%3A1&sa=1&q=sunken+gardens+fl&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=

    Thanks

    • linda

Sorry about incorrect spelling its 4:00 am here anotherworried sleepless night! LOL

      • Stacey@FavorIdeas

        Linda,
Hi! If it were me I would have the groomsmen in simple classic black and white. it looks amazing against the fuschia. If she wants colors then using the same color in the vest will work beautifully with the girls. For the ushers, I would have played them down a tad, cause the black is gonna make the green pop even more. Where fuschia is blended a little better.

        * see how it looks with classic black tux it is more anchored.

        • Stacey@FavorIdeas

          Linda,
Do you have alink or pic of the vest and pocket square colors? bridesmaid dress color?
The flowers sound fine but they are heavily gonna be overshadowed by the bridal party colors. If nothing else have the groom in classic black and white with gm in black and vest color matching girls, then have ushers in classic black with colored bout. or pocket square. It may be fine once I see the fabric colors. I have to agree there is alot of colors happening and defintitely want it to look beautiful with touches of the couples personality. :D

        • linda

so maybe black vest wth green ties and bout for all and skip the double colored hankies?

        • linda

keep the ceggplant vest and ties for groomesmen and black vests with green ties for ushers with bouts

        • linda

projectwedding.com page 176 shows her color of dresses….so black tux with either black vest with eggplant tie like fathers or eggplant vest and eggplant tie skip the colored hankies and go with bouts for a more elegant look… for groomes ment could they wear black vest with green tise and bouts and skip the two colored hankie ??? I am asking because our flowervendor said the thought to much going on…But the apple is her accent color so we also wondered if the green vest and ties but bouts would be better to tone down alittle what u think she is getting married on aug 14th i hate this changing stuff and im sure she will not be happy either but neither of us know about this color stuff

        • linda

          stacy
prdjectweing photos.come then photos on top of page then purple all match but 176 is the page i picked. tha tux are savvy called rum raisen ..im thinking if she wants colr they will work ?

        • Stacey@Favor Ideas

          Linda,
Yes, your dessciption would look good. Keep all the guys in black, skip the hankies, groom in black and white, gm in black and rum raisin vest and tie, then have the ushers in black and white or green tie.
          OR
Keep all guys in simple and classic black and white and have different colored bout. to show difference. groom with white bout, guys in fuschia bout, and ushers with green bout. This would look alot better in pics. If your going for classic. Then pull in the colors in the florals and let them pop! So the bm dress is more a purple than fuschia? I love the rum raisin it is beautiful.
But I couldnt find the bm dress.

Could you repost the link? or find me jsut the color of their dresses. Or is it the the same color as the guys vest? If it is then having all “them” in color while the ushers are in classic black with a green bout. would look sharp.

        • linda

the bridesmaids dresses are Alfred angelo.com and are #7093 in the color shown she wanted rum raisen because it was a darker complimentry color and this dress is a hard color to match any thing with i did sugest black but u know kids lol The wedding show is the ones who got this into her head with the 2 colored hankies and differnt vest for ushers!! i did however get her to elimminate the hankies altogether however she is still going with the green vest but choose a slightly lighter green and ties for the 3 ushers and bouts the same as groomesmen they will now have the same as dads white hydragias a color of alstramaria and a green orchid….dads will be black tux and the raisen tie with similar bouts.. No changing her mind anymore or she will loose it LOL The tables she wants simple white clothes with one runner rum raisen the other green with tall vases and the green green rose balls..next with a lower vase with white hydrangias and votives all over both tables and the third 3 differnt sizes with the orchids in them water and floating candle some of most of her flowers….also white backdrops and white swags with lanterns we are not sure if we should use all 3 colors or just white or white and green since there is alot of purple or violet already plus they are not the egg plant color so i think we should stick to all white we also have tree branches on each side of head table with light and crystals hanging on them…i wanted to put a red crdnial in the tree her deceased grandmas favorite bird but thats red so affraid to do that ….what u think i tried to get her to change but if i keep up i will not be able to go to it LOL

        • Stacey@Favor Ideas

          Linda,
Okay I am pleased she lightened the vest color. I like everything you are saying. You said she wants to go with green and white flowers for centerpieces etc. I agree with keeping everything subtle. The one thing that could be done here is using green orchids inthe centerpieces* like this bouquet
with the mix of white hydrangea then it will be beautiful.

        • Stacey@Favor Ideas

          Linda,
I do think adding the orchids or a pop( Just a touchin the florals)of purple would pull things together with the raisin runner. it would pull in the eggplant a little more. Keep it subtle though. Talk to the florist and tell them you want it on the elegant side. They will work in just enough to make it still look more “green and white” in the florals yet make it pulled together.

        • Stacey@Favor Ideas

          Linda,
If nothing else but adding the purple with the low hydrangea centerpiece and keeping the rose balls-green.

        • linda

          Stacy
If your bridesmaids are wearing violet/fushia color and groomsmen black tux with rum raisen vests what color ribbon would you wrap the BM flowers we were looking for the color of dress unable to find ..do not want to many different colors of purple either boughets are white hydrangia green buttons and deep purple alstamari then was looking for rum raisen Eggplant unable to find so florist asked if we wanted black? would white be to bright or what do u think she also has apple green for accent which is an absolute NO way to bright we are going for elegant..hers will be wrapped in white

        • linda

Stacy maybe green would work was just went on weddingwir.com ? i think and they showed it im just not sure black is right either not happy florest sugested it.

        • Stacey@Favor Ideas

          Linda,
What will be black? the bouquet ribbon? Not sure what you meant. Link didn’t work could you repost? thanks!

I need some help. I am getting married in a chapel with maroon carpet with gold designs. Do I need to coordinate my bridesmaid dresses so they will not clash with the venue? I am getting married in the summer and was thinking on navy, but can not find any flower colors to match that I really like. Any ideas including color of bridesmaid dresses?

    • Stacey@FavorIdeas

      Michelle,
Is there any way I could get a pic so I could see what would work? You could easily do navy and a range of garden flowers in pinks, greenery, a touch of red, yellows, etc.
      * examples

      • Stacey@FavorIdeas

        Michelle,
here are some pics that I think would work.

      • michelle

Here is a picture inside the chapel. You can not see the floors really good, but they are maroon with gold designs.

        • Stacey@Favor Ideas

          Michelle,
It is pretty dark in the chapel. Ilove it though it is beautiful. I am thinking you could go with the navy dresses and pull in some lighter color florals liek in the pics I posted. I couldnt tell about the maroon carpeting. I would find a color that looked best on the girls and then coordinate some florals with the dresses and venue. You will want a color to compliment the setting.
let us begin with some colors you like and dont like. This would be an easy way to narrow down colors and then see what would work. I have to admit the first color that popped in my mind was jewel tones for the dresses. Then bring in flowers maybe even a single shade ranging from light to dark. It also depends on the style of wedding you are wanting. Traditional, etc.
It appears the maroon carpeting is more of a deep maroon. From the pic it appears grey. that is because that particular color is receding in the dim lit chapel. Which is actually a plus. it can open more color options. :D Is it always this dark in the chapel. Reason being is you will want colors in general that will be seen instead of fade into the background. The guests will have a difficult time seeing you.
What about using shades of white, blush, and pale yellow? Those colors would be beautiful agaisnt navy dresses.

          Michelle,
          * perfect example of what I see for your wedding. you coudl even put the girls in platinum or champagne

See how the colors are pale and lighten up the church. girls in grey or champagne and guys in black with matching vests and ties to the girls dresses.

    Hi Stacey
    Could you help me pleeeeeeeeez?!
I am looking for ideas for my wedding invites. I was thinking of a ‘message in a bottle’ and then i thought of a ‘fan’ style and now i am thinking of a ‘teddybear’ with the invite on a heart or something to that effect

Please help me? Really cant decide if any of these are good ideas at all. The thing is that i dont want to have the usual words on paper.

    • Stacey@FavorIdeas

      Fadiela,
Absolutely. it depends on your theme. What type of wedding are you having?

    Hi

I was wondering if you could help us as we are not good with colours! We want a very elegant and chic wedding and we cannot find any colours that work for us. We were thinking champagne but against an ivory or white dress we are not sure this will work. We then considered silver (but not too light) with maybe a cream sash (although not a huge fan of sashes but will work here i think). However again will this stand out enough against my dress.

The only other colour we liked was a raspberry but not sure bright colours are elegant in the same way as silver. Also we cannot work out what colours to put with this.

    Any advice would be great!

    • Stacey@FavorIdeas

      Rem,
I totally agree with the white and silver. it has a clean, chic look. I think I would not use sashes since you dont like them. Use lots of silver/diamond/rhinestone jewelry. Unless youhave these accents or coudl add these accents to your dress.
I have a board I made a while back that might help.
      * it is silver/white

I am thinking of having a pale pink, gold (chairs) and ivory wedding. I am thinking about putting the girls in a pale pink or chamgpange. If the girls are in pink what should the guys wear? I don’t know if the pink will not look modern. that is why I was thinking of the champange and pink accents but will everything look to blaaah with having champange, ivory and gold and pink just in the flowers? HELP! I am mainly worried about putting the guys the in pink.

I AM PLANNING A WEDDING FOR SEPT 2011. MY MAIN COLOR IS PERSIMMON. I CANT DECIDE WHETHER THE SECOND COLOR SHOULD BE CHAMPAGNE, CREAM, OR TAUPE WHICH WOULD BE THE COLOR OF THE GUYS’ SUITS. MY GIRLS’ DRESSES WILL BE PERSIMMON. I ALSO THOUGHT ABOUT SILVER/PEWTER/PLATINUM OR EVEN CHOCOLATE AS AN ACCENT COLOR. I ALSO WONDER WHAT COLOR SHOES WOULD WORK BEST WITH THE PERSIMMON DRESSES. I HAVENT BEEN ABLE TO FIND ANY INSPIRATION BOARDS WITH ANY OF THESE COLOR COMBO’S. PLEASE HELP!

I was thinkin’ a camo (mossy oak) wedding, set in the fall, in the mountains of Galinburg, TN. What would be a good color scheme to go with the camo/fall theme?

  25. Stefanie

Im thinking about a June wedding. Outdoors. I’d like the main color to be blue, like a turquois or other lite blue. But the thing is i would like to incorporate my farming background and add in a wheat color & shoots of wheat as decor. I’d also like to use other spring colors such as green, pinks, oranges, etc. I am just not sure how to do this with a main color of blue…any suggestions?

The only thing I’ve got picked out so far is the dress. I haven’t picked the venue or the colors. I would like to have an elegant/romantic wedding. Was thinking I want blue in my bouquet…. Please Help!

    • Stacey@FavorIdeas

      Claudia,
Why not go with a blue color scheme? As long as it compliments your venue. Blue is a old traditional color that goes way back in history weddings. What about black white blue? It is an amazing color scheme. Also all white with touches of blue would be elegant and romantic. Let me know. :D

    Hi,
I really wanted the guy’s suits to be a really light grey (like a silver color) but have fell in love with a champagne color dress. Do you think these will go?

    • Stacey@FavorIdeas

      Tanya,
I see nothing wrong with these 2 colors. If you ‘d like post the dress and tux pics( even if they are only similar) and I would be happy to check it out. Also what will your wedding colors be?
