Choosing Your Wedding Colors: A Guide for Designing Brides

There's no question: choosing wedding colors is one of the earliest, trickiest tasks a bride has to cross off the list. You can't even talk your florist until you've worked this out.

And even if you're getting the cake from Ron Ben-Israel, he's not going to ask you whether your wedding theme draws elements from 14th century Venetian court dress ... he'll ask you about your colors.

A mere generation ago, planning the wedding was a lot easier. It expressed your social class, and your parents' tastes. Even if they had particular ideas, the market couldn't offer much in terms of individual design. But these days, your wedding expresses your personal style in a way it never has before. Translation? The pressure's on!

Sussing Out Your Style

Some brides can solve the color question without thinking too much about style. They might have a life-long love for purple. Or, their venue might have strong hues they need to coordinate with. Or, when they picture their wedding, they already see their bridesmaids awash in certain colors. Easiest of all: sometimes they already have a theme in mind.

For others, it's not that simple. Still, you can quickly pin down the styles that get your heart beating almost as fast as your fiancé does. Does Martha Stewart's relaxed, preppy look command your undying devotion? Do you pray you can someday actually subscribe to H&M magazine? Did Vera Wang's modern, moody Bolshevik collection for fall 2007 incite heavy breathing? This gives you some major clues.

Home Decor

Destination: Home, Sweet Home

Still, even if you don't consider yourself a fashionista or a Martha devotee, all's not lost. Instead, let's turn our eyes back to home and hearth.

Many brides aren't just looking forward to a wedding, they're also buzzing with anticipation over the dream house they plan to share with their beloved. And in the process of hunting down this love nest, most spent lots time mulling over their personal style. What did you picture in your mind's eye as the right setting for your new life together? A rangy colonial with a gabled roof? A warm, log-sided farmhouse with a wood stove in the kitchen? Or did you dream of finding a downtown loft bursting with recessed lighting and monochromatics, and flip through the new IKEA catalog to pick out your cabinets?

Or consider: do you dream of filling your home with antiques you can pass down to your children? Look to seasonal-inspired color schemes and ballrooms. Plan to drape your bedroom ceiling in yards of mosquito netting? A fairytale wedding drenched in candelabras, gold braid and gauzy swags might fit the bill. Collect exotic objects from all over the planet? Try an art museum for your setting, and a sophisticated or daring palette.

And if you're one of those eclectic types who pairs Amish rocking chairs with aboriginal artifacts, use this old designer trick: think of the last bit of art or furniture you bought to spruce up your house. That tells you what's on your mind lately.

Pink & Champagne Wedding

Your Secret Romantic Style

So, you know your domestic style is Eclectic Contemporary. Congratulations: that means you're holding a black-and-white wedding with chartreuse accents and ostrich feathers in a huge SoHo loft, right?

Hold it: not so fast. Why? Because many brides have a special romantic style that exists in a universe by itself. You might be thrilled picking out Art Deco style spaceships for your pendant lighting. And yet, when it comes your wedding, you might picture something a lot more traditional.

So even if you're the most fashion-forward girl on the block, take a moment to consider whether your wedding vision doesn't actually go back in time by few hundred years. You might secretly harbor a special place in your heart for New England autumns, Victorian elegance, English cottage style, or even timeless fairy tales. And if that's true, rest assured you've got plenty of company.

The Gown's the Guide

But how do you tell if this stylistic gotcha's operating in your case? Here's the secret: go get your dress.

For many brides, The Dress is a journey that starts with many preconceptions, but ends in the unexpected. Finding the dress is usually a case of recognizing it once you've tried it on, not knowing ahead of time what you'll wear.

And once you've found it, the dress will offer some big clues about your Romantic style. Captured by a demure ivory gown covered in Alençon lace, with a button-back closure? Start your search with pastels and neutrals that suit a 1930's vintage or feminine garden wedding. Fell hard for a sleek, diamond white v-neck that's all about the lines? Investigate the crisper, more playful palettes we see today, such as black and white, aqua, bright pinks, lime green and corals.

Seasonal

Adjust for Geography, Venue and Season

Now that you've unearthed your personal style, it's time to look outward. If your style's traditional, for example, start with a hotel ballroom. If you want a strong seasonal feel for fall, try a rustic barn. Cultivated gardens go well with traditional, Martha-esque tints. Tents weddings are a blank slate: you can make them as classic or brazenly modern as your heart desires.

Geography, too, plays a role in your colors. Tropical affairs in the blinding sun are often showcases for the brightest hues of all: coral and orchid, for example, or aqua and orange. Evening white-tie affairs in New York City? Not so much.

Many brides are in the middle, and want to weave in at least a seasonal hint. Fortunately for them, most seasons have palettes both traditional and modern. For example, a classic summer wedding might feature cornflower blue or sage, where a modern one draws on fuchsia and lime green, or orange, pink and black.

Even flowers help set the style. For example, a profusion of pinks in a bouquet of roses and peonies says English cottage. Mini-sunflowers and chrysanthemums says New England country. On the other hand, the color blocking in a hand-tied bouquet of purple callas is strongly modern.

Essential Color-Choosing Tools

Now you've got a style in mind, let's get to the art of actually picking colors. Here are a few can't-miss tools:

Color Schemer. You'll need to create a free account, but this wonderful site has user-created palettes aplenty that you can search by keyword. Once you've registered, hit the "search schemes" button and enter words that fit your vision, like "fall,""garden," "sunset," "winter." Or free-associate with adjectives like "nautical," "peaceful," "modern," "preppy" or even "trendy." We promise, you'll be hooked.

Sherwin-Williams Color Generator. Hit their site, and choose "FIND COLOR." Click on any color that draws you, and you'll automatically pull up two accent colors that complement it. Cool.

Big Huge Labs Palette Generator. Have a photo on your hard drive that seems to capture your wedding's heart and soul? Upload it to a palette generator, which will kick out most of the main hues involved. Unless you're on the beach, use one of the more neutral, calming colors as a primary (e.g., use it for bridesmaids or table linens), and the more nervous, high-energy colors as accents (use these in table napkins, chair sashes, ribbons, and some of your flowers.)

Make a Mood Board. Once you've narrowed down some favorites, start grabbing photos (for your own personal use, of course). Make a special folder on your hard drive, and save photos that seem to fit the colors, setting and season you're going for. If you've got any photo editing software, start putting them together in one big image. This will tell you more than thousands of words how your look will play out.

Purple Green

Making the Most of Your Choices

Now that you've got your colors, how can you really make them shine? A problem that plagues some brides is an oversized fear of chaos. Although it's simple, most weddings aren't at their best when the groomsmen's vests and ties exactly match the bridesmaids' gowns, which in turn match the bride's sash.

So, choose your colors wisely and stick with them, but strive for designing more than matching. Brown and ivory are neutrals when chosen thoughtfully, so use their many shades for a sophisticated, monochromatic look. If the bridesmaids wear mocha or persimmon, the men will look great in chocolate brown. And even if the flowers call for a palette of orange and yellow, let a little green or cream sneak in for dimension. Check for too much of a good thing: when the entire wedding party wears matching brown or black, the effect can be overpowering.

And They Lived Happily Ever After ...

When all's said and done, you're sure to have a great feeling about your colors, and how they fit your personal style. Even if the scheme you hit on isn't "I've loved that all my life!", it might be "I never would have thought of that, but I love these together!"

Picking your colors is a journey, just like finding the dress, or knocking all those planning items off your checklist. But hitting on the right colors, theme and setting for the ultimate expression of your own Romantic style? That can be the pleasure of a lifetime.

meagan, would love to help! yes, pool blue would be perfect for a spring wedding!! you cant go wrong with putting your bm in a shade of pink. it will give their skin a beautiful glow!! it really depends on the type of look your after.
*aqua and pink wedding
*blue and pink wedding
*aqua and pink wedding board
*blue and green wedding

i used aqua in my search to pull up more results, it is very similar. if you want to have the pool and green, i would have the girls in the pool blue with green bouquets. it makes a beautiful impact!! have white linens with green centerpieces and striped pool and green napkins. it would look chic. consider using floating apple centerpieces for the green. i love the green too. i have to say it is my favorite of the two. you can, have them all though. just put girls in pool blue and have pink and green bouquets. or just for you, since you love pink, you alone can carry a bouquet of pink flowers with white ribbon. you would stand out in the blue and green by bringing in just a pop of unexpected color.
here is an example of a table with all the colors, it is so springtime!!
*wedding pic ( it wont let me post the pic, just scroll til you see a table with lots of green, reference # 1864, is the pic) i also love reference # 1658, it is STUNNING!

look these all over and let me know which one stands out and we can take it from there. i want to see what color your drawn to more, but hands down i would have the girls in pink if you use pool and pink, or pool blue if you pair it with green. i hope this helps!

:? Hi Stacey,

I’m getting married this October, our wedding theme is “Fall”. Our wedding color was chocolate brown with green, but now we’ve just decided to keep it chocolate brown and add accents of fall colors (mango, green, veige, etc.) I have attached a picture of our hall. Let me know what ideas you have for our wedding. I think we are confused on what direction to go. We are thinking of chocolate brown linen with second veige linen on top or Sage green, Mahogany chairs  Lighting the walls with a sunset light, and flowers unsure :? That’s what we are thinking, but I love your ideas and I am hoping you are able to give me suggestions or ideas. Thank you so much for all your help!

A.Liz,
hi, i was putting together some ideas and forgot to ask. will it be fall rustic or fall elegant? that way i will be able to narrow down what i have. in the meantime i did make a board, it may not be exactly what you want but i hope it might be able to help you see what i think would look divine in this beautiful venue. i was thinking fall with a creamy dreamy look to it. the long table has flowers and candles. look inside the glass container it has a pieve of vine that makes it look super chic. let me know!! thanks! i have more ideas if you dont like this!!

Stacey,
My daughter is having an elegant fall wedding also. Her bridesmaid dresses are chocolate brown and the table linens will be ivory/ivory overlay, etc. The flowers will be very soft ivorys and peaches with hints of the lime greens. I love the board you made for Liz. How do I enlarge that so as to see everything better i.e. vests, head table, cake. Love the cake but can’t quite see the details. Love your site. We’ve gotten some great ideas from you. You’re fabulous.
Thanks,
Marnie

Is there another option to the brown tuxedos like possibly black tuxedos with some type of vest to blend with espresso bridesmaid dresses?

;) Thank you for the board Stacey. We want a fall elegant wedding. The tuxedos on the board are the ones we are going with. I agree with Marnie, it is difficult to see the details of the picture; when I zoom it becomes blurry. What other ideas do you have in mind besides the creamy dreamy? Thank you once again for you help.

Blessings,

I have so many ideas and lots of pictures that I’ve found on the internet, but I think that was a big mistake; now I am overwhelmed. :? Everything I see I fall in love with and my fiancé just says “Whatever you want” no help from him lol. This is why I need help of an expert like you.

At first we wanted everything green and chocolate brown (green linen, mahogany chairs, chocolate brown napkins, tall and short vases of green and white flowers with a touch of mango callalilies). Now, we’ve decided to disregard the green linen and go with chocolate brown linen and creamy linen on top of the chocolate brown, mahogany chairs, chocolate brown napkins, (go to the eventscape website, click on floral, then centerpieces on your right hand side and go to the second centerpiece; we were thinking of having this centerpieces to give it a fall warm feeling – but colors according to our theme.) and have shorter ones with small pumpkins/candles around the centerpiece.

As you may see, I’m overwhelmed and wish I was like some other brides you put something together and that is what they pictured. RRRwwwwrrrrr

Thank you for your help. ;)

Ok Stacey, those are pictures I have been liking the most out of a lot more I have. I hope you are able to create something since I am a visual person and don’t seem to have a visual of our wedding  I also forgot to mention, my bridesmaid are wedding chocolate brown dresses with green flowers and I am using the one I sent earlier. Also, we would like to have pumpkins and leaves? Or, would it be too much at the reception.

Thank you and best of luck to the rest of the brides!

here is what i found including a board i made.
you mentioned leaves, have you considered maple branches as centerpieces. if you have access to branches , they could be free. when i think of fall the first thought is those beautiful maple or oak trees!!

I love your style! I am getting married June 26th 2010. We want a beach theme. We want it laid back more than anything.

Can you help me? My colors are pool and coral. I am thinking BM dresses in Pool. My FH wants the guys to wear tan linen pants. I am not sure how to coordinate these colors or what the color shirts the men should wear.

We are having a church ceremony and a reception in our local Shrine club.

Help!

Tammy,
thank you so much!! are they gonna wear a tan linen jacket to match or are they wanting to axe the jackets? if they are might i suggest simple white shirts. it is a great look when paired with a vivd color like pool. you could opt to have them in colored shirts but i think the white would really make it look crisp. have the girls carry a combo of coral and white bouquets with flowing ribbons so any breeze will make it flutter. if you will send me a link or pics of the venues, i would love to give you more ideas and also if you would like a mood board i could work on that. thanks!!

Hi Stacey,
I love your ideas and vision and am hoping you can help me out. I am tossed on wedding colors for my May 2010 wedding, I am getting married at a Hotel Castle built in 1888 in the middle of the mountains, truly romantic. My vision is romantic yet classic, I was thinking pink and brown, black or champaigne and pink..not sure really..even grey is nice with pink..any thoughts and or advice?

leah, i am so happy i can help with such a important event in someones lives. :thankyou:
romantic and classy, i would stick with one classic neutral and pair one or two soft but deeper color with it. the castle shouldnt need much decor, you will definitley want the venue to shine thru on the day, especially with the mountain view and history. for the neutral color, which is what the guys and possible the girls would wear. i would go with classic black. most bridal parties prefer black over brown. black is a wear again color, if girls dont want black then have them in blush or champagne. for flowers i would have shades of pink( since youmentioned that twice, i am assuming you really want that color, however, i would have subtle floral shades fromlight to deep, even all the way to a reddish pink). the variation would be stunning. most castles would consider “royal” colors. which is another route you could go. say plum and champagne, or burgundy red/wine and champagne or grey. your right about grey, it is amazing!! you cannot go wrong with this color. it is right down classy when paired with a bold color. these 2 combos take the guesswork out of decorating. actually this pairing is on the dramatic romantic style, which is perfect for a up to date look in a castle. which i like the best. just to say… i used to wonder what decor i would use if it were me, and the venue was a castle. bridal party in rewearable and classic neutral color, green foliage centerpieces on white linens with lots of beeswax candles ( they look like they came fromthe castle era) , peach or dreamsicle orange bouquets for the bm and creamy white and green for me. edible favors with white ribbons and a buffet of different foods and cakes, it would be a romantic contemporay look. cause i just love blending old with new, it looks fresh. you may even like the color scheme i had in my head, if so, by all means please use it!! :cheer:

then one day while browsing i ran into this beautiful site and saw what i had envisioned was similar…..

isnt it beautiful!! i hope you find lots of ideas here, please let me know whattcha think.

Hi Stacey
I am trying to finalize my colors/theme. I am getting married April 25, 2010 in a country club in Long Island, NY: http://www.theroyaltonmansion.com/rooms/index.html?room=ballroom My dress is lace and vintage so I would like to carry out a vintage theme. I am thinking about a navy/champagne theme and may add a third color: either lilac or pistachio. Do you have any ideas? I would like the bridesmaid dresses to be blue/navy since it is a flattering color on all skin types. Do you have any reception hall decoration ideas, flower arrangements and invitation ideas? Would you recommend a third color?
thank you!

sotiria,
that is a wonderful ballroom!! when i ran across this in my search i just knew it was perfect!! right down to the classic papers( programs etc) for invitations go for simple classic, just off white with black writing. i would use the lilac, navy, and champagne. find flowers in these colors in season ( and this color and flower combo is perfect for the time of year also), i love the sparse callas, but lilac roses will work just as well and give you the similar look. have girls carry all callas ( or roses, depending on the flower you get in lilac) in the lilac, purple shades and you carry one similar tothe one shown. i would keep the ballroom with just the centerpieces, favors, basics of wedding decor. i wouldnt have draping etc. i would let the ballroom shine in its stately manner. that will help with your vintage theme. white or white lace linens, simple silverware, glassware. i love that you picked navy for the attire. i realized the other day that i absolutely love navy blue!! it can be paired with anything and look classic!! oh yes, i do not recommend a third color. keep it simple and romantic!!

yeileen,
hi!! i was just looking at the room and i love it!! so unique. i do love the fact you are using lighter colors. i am not so sure about the turquoise though, i dont think it will bring out the best in the room. though you could have a white and turquoise scroll cake and still be on the safe side to give you your color scheme. it could work out for the bridal party attire. i am thinking the room should be done in peaches, whites, and darker green( in the foliage), possibly throw in some champagne. it has alot of brown in the room, so i wouldnt go with this color, it will make it to dark. i wanted to know will you be using linens? or bare tables? i didnt know what the venue allowed. will they allow open candlelight? the room looks to have a bit of exotic to it, although i cant tell what color the wall divider is. can you tell me?
also what color is the venue you are marrying in? and what colors do you dislike. i want to make sure i find ideas that will make the bride to be happy. i am seriously leaning toward a peach/apricot feel with white. with linens in champagne or creamy beige, bejeweled votive holders, and white linens with napkins in brown vine napkin rings. peach bouquets would be sensational against turquoise dresses and have guys in classic attire or polished khaki suits. i just think it will bring out the beauty of the room even more. let me know if you could work with peach family then i will go straight away and start pulling ideas.

I actually like the peach and ivory color idea…. the venue allows candlelight and the wall divider is ivory..i believe. :) they have few ivory curtains around the place. i dislike brown, black. Im a bit confuse, the colors that would look great with the venue are peach, white, or creamy..? i do like them, they would look great.. i have a few questions.. :)
the reception hall has a lot of brown, do u think i should go for Peach and white, or peach and ivory? what would be my third color..? if i choose peach and ivory, would ivory chair covers and linens look weird..? i need ideas for the flower bouquet..
thanks.. i know its a lot.. :) i hope you can continue to help me ;)

yeileen,
i went to the website, checked out all the pics. it has such a lofty feel. its a great place. how do you feel about grey paired with peach? if you dont care for brown or black, then i am assuming you dont want the bridal party in those colors? the more i look at this room i am thinking cocktail party. i have a website i want you tolook at. tell me if you like it, it has romance and laid back atmosphere. it is decorated in a way that makes you feel so welcome!! i am thinking this is the style to go for, it compliments everything about the venue. have silver/grey runners or beautiful grey linens with shimmery silver runners on tables, centerpieces of peach roses and greenery, accented by candlelight( simple cream votives in chic glass votive holders) have bridal party in grey, guys in charcoal grey. tip: for the centerpeices have subtle shades ranging from peach to deep peach or coral, have the girls carry vanilla roses tied with grey satin or silk ribbons, you carry a gorgeous bouquet of peach and coral( if youlike adding the coral) roses mixed with greenery. guys in charcoal, which is superb, the groom with a peach boutonniere or axe bout. all together and go for simple and stylish, pocket hankies in white. from the cords it appears they have tiny white lights in the greenery, if not, find out if you can add them. it will add to the ambiance of the setting, i would add candles everywhere in this venue, strategically placed, including every sitting area( on the side and coffee tables etc) i really think the shades of peach and coral would be so suitable here, with the grey and silver. silver runners on top of the grey with candlelight is always gorgeous!! for the chair covers,

*the wedding ( this one could be fabulous inspiration here!!)

*Everything in Its Right Place ( i am thinking simple more contemporary style chair covers( like at this website) , no sashes,. have in grey.

*loft wedding ideas

*Perfect Palettes :: Peach & Grey

i wnated to give you these xtra links, cause after looking at the pics, i saw it needed to be fine tuned. if you dont care for the coral you could always take cue from the website above that i gave, except add peach with the yellow. set on grey linens would be another great pairing!! i would stick with the grey and the peach but for the 3rd color i wanted to touch base with you first on your options. at first when i looked at the room, i thought wow! cranberry or burgundy red with grey would be killer inthis room. with tons of candlelight but i didnt know if you would go for that???
*burgundy and grey wedding board

i just want to help you narrow it down and be perfect for your day!!

Hello!!! i love the peach and grey idea… very nice. i really apprecite your effort and taking your time to help me. :) i think it would look very pretty, i cant wait!!
so, for the table linens would i have to get bottom one in grey and the top one in peach? table runners would be silver, right? i dont think the reception hall has that color (grey).. i dont remember seing it.
to make this easier: what are my top two 3-color combinations.? i like the peach, creamy (ivory) and silver combination you mentioned.. I really felt in love with peach.. i totally agree with you that it would bring out the best in the room. I would like to know, if I use peach and ivory with silver/glass decorations, (like a lot of crystals and candlelights), can i use ivory linens and chair covers in ivory with peach sashes? would it look weird? or i’d be better off using another color like grey or white with peach?
thank you so much, once again… i hope u can help me.. this is sooo hard..!! :? :P
thanks Stacey.. i hope hearing you very soon

yeileen,
i was looking at the carpet in the venue, and it looked teal and grey. that is where i pulled the grey from.
this is pretty much what i had in mind…..

i found a pic of exactly what i envisioned. i hope you like it. i see the silver grey linens. i mentioned a runner before, i would axe that and just go with a medium silvery grey in the cloth. let me know what ya think!! i gave a chair cover and another centerpiece. inthis venue i see romantic yet a lofty contemporary feel.

yeileen,
i am also gonna give you this pic, cause i noticed another way you could go. it has a new orleans flavor to it too. and i am gonna tell you, i hope i am not confusing you; i sincerely apologize if i am, but this pic is super stunning and it would have the ivory cloths and the peach centerpieces. you could add the paper lanterns and candles to this, also the crystals in the centerpieces. put the bridal party inthe greys we talked about. have grey OR ivory napkins your choice, but the kicker? just add creamy ivory chair pads to the venue chairs. i have to say, oops, this is my absolute favorite. you still get the silver from the silverware on the table, and make sure the crystals for the florals are on silver metal, have the florals in silver, you get it all with this one. have the girls carry solid peach bouquets, guys in their charcoal grey with bout. like i mentioned before. silver accessories for all. i could tell you really wanted to incorporate ivory and well…. this is it!! i personally hope this one stands out to you too. i just feel this might be the decor your looking for.

lyn,
i would actually do simple green and white bouquets. if youwant a pop of color then have flowers with a small bit of fuschia like green orchids have or pale yellow. greenand white will keep it clean and fresh looking. have all green and all white flowers for centerpieces, and use them in groupings fromhigh to low, or on long tables have them marching down center and votives in between spaces. the pic i posted is for the bride.

*Thara & Joel
*Heidi & Michael in Indianapolis, IN ( replace the red with the orange, have the girls in chamapgne or mocha, guys in brown)
*orange and brown winter ( stunning winter pics!!) it is such a beautiful combo for winter.
*orange winter
*brown winter

Hello:
Thank you for helping all of us. You really do have an awesome knack for color. I was hopeing you could do the same for me. My fiance and I are getting married June 23rd 2010 at a castle in northern MI (Castle Farms if you want to google it.). I know I was something vintage (like my ring) and romantic, but I don’t want to give up the drama that color provides (I would also like to avoid pink). I am having a really hard time envisioning anything. If you can think of any color/design scheme that would really help me out. Thanks so much

Kate

ashley,
when i think vintage and romantic, black or brown and white with a pop of color comes to mind. a castle wedding how romantic!! do you have a website or pic of the castle exterior and interior i could take a look at? colors that really go well with castle walls are burgundy, blues, yellow, green( love this). do you have a particular era in mind? cause there were certain colors that fit certain periods. like renaissance or medieval era. they were famous for decorating with fresh flowers or pale and neutral shades like white. garlands of mixed flowers like daisies and white and yellow roses could grace a castle hall. if youwanted to really indulge in the historical effect. medieval weddings did not have centerpieces or alters. instead containers of flowers and/or herbs were placed around the room, never on the table, that was for the food!! this would be a reborn but unique concept to do this at your wedding. instead of centerpieces you could have abundant table settings and vintage looking stemware with amazing monogrammed (oversized napkins) in the plates and a sprig of herb or yellow rose. then around the room have your abundant urns filled with flowers, and head table with a fresh garland with the ribbons puddling to the floor. have your cake table with a longer linen to puddle on floor for a enchanting look. cake can set on crystal platter. have it simple white with yellow roses trailing down one side which detail harkens back to an old style cake decor. crystal would make it look super vintage. very pretty!!cant wait to hear from ya!!

Hi, this is my first time visiting the site and I love what I’ve seen so far. My Fiance proposed on Valentine’s day. We have set our wedding date for Jan 23, 20010! I am very excited! However, he and I just can’t seem to figure out what colors we want :-(
I like the colour crimson red or other shades of red and darker shades of pink and I want the bridemaisds with these bright colours. Since my Fiance is a sailor, we are trying to incorporate the nautical or ocean theme however want to keep the colour blue as an accent colour. We do not want to use dark shades of blue.
I don’t think anyone has used these colors together in the past. Could you please help? We just cant decide on what to do.

liz, hi!!
i know you said no dark blue but take a look at this and see if this is something you might want….
*Inspiration Board # 52: Navy Blue, Hot Pink & Ivory

*Cranberry, Pistachio, Navy

i honestly think navy blue is gonna make the red and pink pop better. i wasnt sure what shade youwere wanting in the blue. i made a board maybe this will help you visualize the colors. i do think the cake in a nautical theme of navy and white would work best, or add seashells to this cake.

Thanks Stacey for replying so fast. I wish I could say that it is perfect. However I am still not loving the idea of using navy blue. :(
Could you suggest something where we could use lighter shades of blue. Also could you give me ideas on the decor, keeping crimson or shades of red like cranberry etc. as the main colour and light blue as the accent colour. I am really confused on how to do it. :?

liz,
*Light Blue and Red Wedding Detail

*Belle.Blue.Wedding
*Aqua And Cranberry

i know some of the shades are not light blue but you could swap out the aqua etc for th elight blue, this is to get a better idea of what you like. also are you wanting a nautical style theme or just touches? i went mostly nautical in my mood board. :D

Stacy,
On one of your responses to LaRue regarding the coral and brown colors you showed an invitation with a kind of brown scroll background and a brown ribbon. Do you have any idea where we could find those. My daughter is doing a similar color palette for her Oct. wedding. Thanks.

francheska,
pairing just about any color would be beautiful, it depends on the setting, what the venue looks like, what type of ideal vision you are after. do you want bold or soft and ethereal? also what formality is it? do you want a happy celebration choosing yellow would guarantee that!! :D actually green and white is perfect for any setting, any time of year, for any formality. i dont know what time of year but pale green and bronze/copper/rust is a absolutely breathtaking combo. cant wait to hear from you!!
