I spot a beautiful quirky liberal

Kimberly and I met online on March 13, 2005, or thereabouts. I had pretty much given up on using the popular online dating service.

Admittedly, I didn’t look all that good on paper. I was recently divorced, had three children, two mostly unreasonable ex-wifes and debts no honest man could pay. I was also, and still am, a recovering alcoholic. I made no bones about it in my profile. I figured, to reach the right person, I’d have to throw all the deal breakers right out there to be successful.

Kimberly didn’t appear on my radar with the dating service. I was a year too old, according to the criteria in her profile. However, there she was; a year too young, and out-of-my league beautiful. But I had to take the chance. In the words of Lyle Lovett; “What would you be if you didn’t try? You HAVE to try.”

We arranged to meet on a Sunday night at a shopping mall Starbucks. We had coffee. We talked. We ate. We went to see Million Dollar Baby. Great first date movie huh?

When she got home she wrote me and said she thought I was a sexy man. I got this weird tingly feeling all over, and it wasn’t like anything that used to give me weird tingly feelings all the time.
