7-7-07 weddings have been all the buzz since the year turned over — though a few brides have had the date in mind for the last few years.

Surrounding this auspicious date are plenty of favorable factors. For one, it's the closest weekend to July 4, which in itself drew plenty of brides. Other couples have a personal connection to the number seven, and still others value its mystical and even religious connotations.

The result? Couples across the country are working a hat tip to lucky seven into their receptions, whether it be lottery ticket favors in New Jersey or an actual tying-of-the-knot in Vegas itself. And no one fails to notice a fringe benefit: it's hard for any man to forget an anniversary like this.

Save the Date ... a Year in Advance, That Is

You can't get anything for July 7 here. Don't even try. It's not going to happen.
We asked Linnyette Richardson-Hall, popular Baltimore wedding planner, how 7/7/07 weddings were shaping up on her part of the country. "Honestly, in my case," she said, "brides weren't calling up a year in advance. I started getting calls around the normal time, with two brides calling up around August of last year." (She booked them both.)

"But starting around February, it got crazy." In fact, since that time she's gotten 42 requests for the date. "Before February, the vendors weren't booked around here. But now you can't get anything for July 7 in this area. Don't even try. It's not going to happen."

We asked, was there a heightened sense of excitement? Buzz on the mystical connotations of the date? In the case of her couples, she explained, the attraction was more religious. "Around here," she says, "especially with older couples, seven has a spiritual significance. It's seen as the number of completion: going full circle, finding your life partner, alpha and omega."

The Meanings Behind That Mystical Seven-Oh-Seven

What better way to investigate the deeper meanings behind 7-7-07 than consult a professional numerologist? We asked Jakob Steele, longtime number-cruncher and psychic entertainer, to give us his insight into what the language of numbers says about this date.

Five is very fun, exciting, enthusiastic. It's about energy and enthusiasm.
"Traditionally," he says, "you'd want to look at the date number as the birthdate of a relationship. And using traditional methods, we'd find the destiny number."

If you add 7 + 7 for the month and date, and then 2 + 7 for the year, he says, you get 23, which reduces to 5.

Five, he says, is an interesting number to be married by. "As numbers go, five is very fun, exciting, enthusiastic — it comes with a lot of energy and enthusiasm."

In fact, he says, the number five is even erotic and a little wild (so be sure to book an extra night or two for that honeymoon).

"Travel's often associated with five," says Steele. And on the whole, this is a very adventurous and playful kind of marriage, where the couple has a high chance of remaining youthful.

He also says that certain colors, flowers and scents are closely tied to the number five. "The primary color of five is blue. It also has two secondary colors: violet, and a shade of brown that might be bronze, or lean more toward a chocolate brown.

The flower of number five is roses, and the same with perfumes: "Rose, jasmine and sandalwood all go with this date."

The Birth of a Marriage: Three Nine-Year Cycles

In numerology, explains Steele, dates like these break down into three nine-year cycles that speak to the long-term future. To find them, you just split your date into three parts and reduce each part to one number. For this date, those numbers are 7, 7 and 9 (because 2007 adds up to nine).

But with the five," he adds, "you have a relationship that's a lot freer. It's probably different from their grandparents'. And other people might not understand the way their relationship works, because it might be pretty unique to them."

With 5, you have a relationship that's freer. And other people might not understand.
Number seven ruling the first cycle, says Steele, tells us about what you can expect for the first nine years of marriage. Seven, he says, means spirituality is important in this relationship — and the couple will be able to break down problems and discuss them.

"But with the five," he adds, "you have a relationship that's a lot freer. It's probably different from their grandparents'. And other people might not understand the way their relationship works, because it might be pretty unique to them."

He anticipates a lot of people in their mid-to-late 20s and early 30s having this date, he adds. "I don't see a lot of very early marriages with this configuration."

The Second Cycle

With number seven ruling the second cycle, Steele sees faith playing a big role in the marriage. "It'll be important to find a spiritual outlet for the marriage as a union," he emphasizes, "not just as individuals."

But with all the upsides, he also sees two minor risks with this date. "First, this couple's going to be so self-sufficient as a couple, they might have a tendency to be a little aloof from other people.

"Second, they can sometimes develop the habit of nitpicking each other apart."

The Third and Final Cycle

Nine is the number of the last cycle, which lasts for the remainder of the marriage, says Steele.

Nine is tied to the rebirth of romance — but with a strong spiritual foundation.
"Nine is a very philanthropic, service-oriented number that speaks to the family unit. Nine suggests a lot of involvement in the local community, humanitarian projects.

"It's also tied to the rebirth of romance — romance with a spiritual foundation, that really brings out the best of the marriage ideal. This number is very tolerant."

Given these factors, he says, he'd expect the divorce rate for couples marrying on this date to be a little under the national average. "As a date, it's tremendously spiritual, open and communicative."

He adds, "I wish everyone who gets married on that date well, I truly do."

Yep, another 7-7-07 Bride. For those of you who will be having a scripture reading at your wedding, I came up with a really cool Bible passage I would like to share, check it out. The 7th Book of the New Testament (1st Corinthians), Seventh Chapter and reading from 1-7. To sum it up; 1st Corinthians 7 vs 1-7. I will be reading verses 2-9 (still seven versus). This passage is ideal for weddings.
Please let me know what you think @ hambar.wedding@gmail.com
Good Luck wit your wedding planning.

Another 7-7-07 bride here. I absolutely love all your stories. I find it very funny that almost all of us did not even realize that the date was 7/7/07 until after we had set the date. I knew I wanted the wedding around the 4th of July since my hometown has a huge celebration and everybody comes home for it. (small town) I originally set the date for June 30, 2007. Later found out that a couple of my bridemaids had a good friend getting married that day already so I pushed it back a week and it just happened to be 7-7-07. I think it is the coolest thing ever. I would love to incorporate the “Lucky Seven” theme into my party favors. Does anybody have any good ideas? Email tara_marie03@hotmail.com I wish everybody the best of luck!

I am also getting married on 7/7/7 at 7:07 p.m. It is both of our 2nd marriages and I am in the process of looking for invitations. I thought that it would be neat to have an invitation in the shape of a 7 or maybe even trifold so when it opened it was 7/7/7. Has anyone seen an invitation that would be a 7? I asked at a local printer and they said that the die cut would be pretty expensive.

We are having a 7-7-07 weddng…just a date we were both free from the chaos of life and work…Plus I figured my sweetie would be able to remember it. We haven’t had a single bit of trouble finding vendors and have our choice of reception sites and caterers. Good luck to all!

I am a 7-7-07 bride….. this is the 2nd wedding for both me and the groom…. so trying to keep it small(yeah right…. I’m finding it to be bigger than i thought and expected it to be) we are lucky because my future husband works at a private resort and marina here in ohio… so the venue for the wedding and reception were pretty much a given…. what i think is awsome is that the resorts july 4th celebration is on the 7th… there will be a live band and fireworks… so the music for the reception is also taken care of. I can’t wait…. most of my things ( boquets…. favors… etc) are homemade… by me, my maide of honor and the others in the bridal party…. as it approaches i get more nervous that i won’t be able to pull it all together… but its gonna be ok …i mean it is on 7-7-07. :P

I, too, am a July 7th Bride! This is a very special day for me as not only will it be my wedding day, but it is my natural birthday! I was born on Saturday, July 7, 1973, during the 7th hour! So, quite naturally when my fiance proposed in July of 2006, July 7th, 2007 was the only natural choice for my wedding! Most importantly, the number 7 is God’s perfect number!!!

My color are champagne, ivory, and shades of chocolate with a splash of mango/coral peach. I absolutely love my bridesmaid’s dresses. They are a Bill Levkoff ruched ball gown.

Currently, I am looking for unique favors for my “heavenly theme”.

Blessings to all of the July 7th Brides and Grooms. May you experience all of God’s “perfect” gifts for you.

I’m thinking of planning a trip to Vegas to get married on 7-7-07. Has any one else tried to book hotels and flights for that weekend? Are you running into any problems? I just figure there’s no better place to tie the knot on 7-7-07 than Vegas.

Another 7 7 7 bride here. For our party favors we had dice made. Where the one dot is suppose to be, instead it reads Kevin & Linda on the next line 7 7 7 with a heart between the sevens, last line reads Lucky in Love. Email me if you want me to send you a picture and if you want any info. LLLearJet@aol.com

We are also planning a 7-7-07 wedding. We met on 5-5-05 and already have a vacation planned on 8-8-08. We both have children from a previous marriage and that was a weekend we have all of the kids, and we decided we needed a little luck go our way. Our colors are royal blue and orange, and we want a very bright and fun day. Any, ideas let us know.
Good luck to all of the couples.

I met my fiance last year on 7-7-06. It was love at first sight. He proposed on 8-3-06. What better day to marry than one year from the day we met, which just happens to be 7-7-07! Good luck to all July Brides, and God Bless!

I am another lucky 7-7-7 bride. My fiance proposed in a fortune cookie, so it just seemed appropriate. Best of luck to all my fellow brides! I’ve had no problem finding vendors as I live in FL and it is so hot in July I think everyone thinks I’m crazy to get married then! LOL

I, too, am planning a 7/7/07 wedding! My colors are ivory, mauve and pale pink. ALOT of things in my life have been governed by the number 7. Naturally I could think of no other date when I became engaged. I love Victorian styles; however, I am toying with using the “lucky” theme of the day to incorporate into the wedding as well. Best of luck to you all!

Although I won’t be getting married on 07/07/07, it will mark the 9th month since my boyfriend and I “officially” started dating. Nine is completion, fulfillment, earthly paradise. Seven is the number of the Universe, awareness of manifestation, etc. We’ll be mutually engaged this May, but July 7th will still be a special day for us.

Best wishes to all those getting married that day! :D

I got engaged 12/22/06 and we always knew we would get married the 1st weekend in July because my Fiance’ is off work during this time. I love to gamble and didn’t know until I started looking for a place that the date we planned to get married was 7-7-7. Everything has been falling into place. Our colors are Tiffany Blue Box and Plantinum. Wonder if i will have time to run into a casino that morning - hahahah i wish huh.

Hi, I am also getting married on 07-07-07. We got engaged on May 1st of 2006, I wanted to get married in September of 07 but the place I wanted to get married was booked all of 2007 already except for 07-07-07 and one Saturday in October. It didn’t occur to me until after we booked the date that it was all 7s. My colors are red white and blue also. I was going with sort of a 4th of July theme but now am considering the lucky side of it all since I am having trouble trying to figure out some of my wedding details. I have all my vendors and everything reserved, that part seemed like the easy part for me. I’ve heard many cannot find services for that day. Good luck.
