BoingBoing was responsible for bringing this astounding cake creation to the huddled masses.
Some lucky bride’s ludicrously talented mother whipped together this piece of artistry from “your basic iced and marzipanned fruitcake” (I can imagine this woman stepping out of an Aveo hit by a tractor-trailor, brushing a speck of lint off her wool duster, and observing, “My. That was a narrow one”).
Okay, she knew what she was doing. For God’s sake, she built endoskeletons for the elephants.
But if you look at the instructional photos, you might feel for a split second like you, too, are capable of crafting a photorealistic turtle cake representing the entire metaverse of a SciFi epic, if you just clear a Saturday afternoon, say.
You know, like the feeling everyone got from watching that “Evolution of Dance” guy demonstrate every pop style of dance there ever was in about six minutes? We all sort of feel we could do that, if we really had a good reason, like being captured by angry Turmenistanis loaded with heat and desperate for a good time.
