Having a Mickey Mouse Wedding

Not so far, far away from the classic fairy tale is the Mickey Mouse wedding.

After all, Minnie and Mickey have set the standard for long-lived romance: they’ve been together since 1928, and never lost their spark.

Happily, it's not difficult to pull together a fairytale wedding that pulls out all the stops (and pulls the heartstrings), is get-them-buzzing elegant, and gives Mickey and his number one gal pride of place in ways both theatrical and super-subtle.

Storybook Staging

This wedding calls for a big entrance. So roll up to your reception in a snow-white horse and carriage. Or, sweep down a grand curving staircase graced with a red carpet.

Then, add a few fairy godmother-like touches with fantasy decor like draped ceilings (this utterly transforms a room), and elegant topiaries or potted trees with twinkle lights.

A sparkling ice sculpture in the shape of a castle, swan or giant diamond ring amps up the ambiance even more.

Finally, ask your waitstaff if they can pass silver-trayed hors d'oeuvres in bow ties and white gloves, and you've got the full fairytale setting.

Of course, Mickey & Minnie deserve special showing on or near a sumptuous, rose-studded cake. Your gorgeous engagement photo's perfect in a romantic keepsake frame. And elegant Mickey charms make great adornments for personalized champagne flutes, cake serving sets, or a beautiful satin bouquet wrap.

But the Mouse is equally at home in more personal spots only you, your girls (or intended) know about.

For example, an embroidered "hidden Mickey" makes a wedding gown even more uniquely yours, not to mention a very special engraving inside your wedding bands. Add rhinestone Mickeys to the soles of your shoes, and you've got an adorable detail for your photographer to capture and preserve.

Fabulous Favors

Everyone loves a little something sweet. So, tuxedo chocolate-dipped strawberries make the perfect match for this well-dressed mouse. Or, ask a baker to whip up a batch of exquisitely decorated Mickey cookies tucked in cellophane bags, tied off with ribbon and a small paper rosebud.

Or, give a gift that's as practical as it is whimsical: set out Mickey Mouse cookie cutters, combined with one of your favorite recipes (or even a personally-made mix).

Of course, it’s a snap to find to find chocolate molds starring The Mouse, or cute candy, like spiral lollipops and chocolate pops.

Then, there’s Mickey Mouse wedding confetti to spice up a cake or guestbook table, and even temporary Mickey tattoos for those wild bridal showers (be patient — this goes in and out of stock).

Looking for sleek and chic? Wrap votives with elegant vellum printed with a Mickey head, and tie with a shiny black satin ribbon. Surround with red rose petals.

Or fill a glossy black favor box with a handmade combination of black and white M&Ms and a few Disney mints. Gorgeous with a black and white reception!

The Mouse at Play

You'd pay a mint for a few minutes of Mickey's time at a Disney wedding, but you can have him stay for the duration on your own stomping grounds. How? Order up an adult Mickey mascot costume — just like the ones at the park.

Tap a good friend or delighted nephew to manage his insides, and set up some unforgettable photo ops for your guests.

Then pass him on to the next lucky bride when the party's over (and recoup your investment — now that's a fairytale ending!).

Sweet Memories

Want to depart with a bang? Arrange a romantic dove release — or for an evening wedding, dial up your own custom fireworks show — which can even be personalized with your wedding colors.

No small-event fireworks companies available nearby? Not to worry — you can still get some fabulous snaps with wedding sparklers.

I am looking for enterpiece ideas for a Mickey and Minnie Anniversary Party. I’m also looking for Mickey (head) mints that were shown on this website. I can’t find them anywhere.
Thanks,
Linnie

We bought Mickey and Minnie cookie cutters (the difference is that Minnie’s has a bow). We’re going to make sugar cookies and dip the Mickey ears in chocolate and the Minnie ears in white chocolate (the top only so just the ears are done). We’re really excited about them! I got the cookie cutters on ebay.

James, probably the cheapest and easiest thing for you might be to buy the official Mickey chocolate molds and have a local confectioner pour the chocolates for you. They are SO easy to do and you probably know a lot of people who’d be willing (at its easiest, it’s just 1) buy melting chocolate wafers 2) heat 3) pour). Or a confectioner can make them a little fancier for you, paint on some details for pop and color.
Sugarcraft has “real” mickey chocolate molds here — they’re definitely Mickey, not a generic mouse.

I am struggling to find any suitable Mickey Mouse/Disney wedding favours. The ideal would be chocolates shaped like Mickey/Mini’s head but I can’t find anything like these. Can anyone suggest anything. I live in the UK so would have to be bought on-line.

I am doing a Bridal Shower in Mickey, for the centerpieces I’m using clear cylinder vases, putting floral foam in the bottom, covered with pink, gray/silver, and black shredded paper. I am then cutting out Mickey heads and hands and Mickey heads with bows for Minnie (using pink, gray/silver, and black). Using 16 gauge wire I am making a bouquet of the heads and hands. I just shape the wires with swirls at one end to hold the paper. I am also painting Mickey and Minnie on foam core to cut out and display at the entrance. I decided to use the colors to coordinate with the cake topper. For the cutlery I am rolling in pink napkins and tying with ribbon and Mickey heads (from a paper punch) as charms on the ribbons with little wedding rings.

I looked everywhere for mickey mouse centerpieces that would fit into my budget, but I found its cheaper to compromise and get crafty. I have a carpenter friend who is cutting out mickey heads reminiscent to mickey hats that can stand on the table in the center and in either ear is my name and then my grooms name. In the bottom portion we are putting black and white photo’s of us together. I think its a cute idea. But I am having a hard time deciding on wedding favors. Any ideas?

Mickey ceramic planters are hard to find, and pricey. They’re very vintage items, so old that the paint is usually coming off, and they don’t look a lot like the Mickey we know today. More familiar (and cheaper) are the Mickey head vases, about $10 each. I think Hallmark has the right idea, though (see above) … Mickey figurines clutching a beautiful trumpet vase seems perfect for weddings. You could make something similar with poseable Mickey & Minnie figurines.

I am finding it very difficult finding disney items that can be shipped to me in UK. The best site I have found is EBAY but I cannot get the quantities for wedding favours etc.

Sometimes you can actually find gold Mickey wedding bands on Ebay. They were made in the 90s by a major company, I forget who.
