The Aqua Blue Wedding

It might say beach. It might say Fifth Avenue.

Either way, the aqua blue wedding (often paired with the most classic of supporting acts, like silver, pearls and creamy roses) is a feast for the imagination ... and the eyes.

Pulling off Your Own Aqua Blue Wedding

Plenty of aqua brides stick to their beloved blue, offset with lots of crisp white and crystal. But many brides accent with more colors. Popular uptown picks include chocolate brown, platinum and soft pastel pink. Beachier combinations include orange, fuchsia or yellow. Fearless brides even pair aqua with red!

This look offers so many choices, you just need to lay claim to yours. Decide whether to "spread the wealth" with faux pearls and seashells, or swarovski crystals and platinum accents, or seashells or giant white ostrich feathers — or some other direction that's all your own.

Aqua Blue and Crystal

If you're a crystal bride, you'll sparkle in a gown with a bodice lightly embroidered with Swarovski crystals, and tuck a crystal tiara in your updo.

Then, thrill your bridesmaids with crystal hair pins or combs. Plus, place glimmering picks in your floral bouquet, or skip the blooms and bear an all-Swarovski heirloom crystal bouquet down the aisle.

Having a tent wedding? Line the marquee roof with string lights, hang clear crystal chandeliers from the center, and prop up more crystal in the form of grand candelabras topping Corinthian columns.

Then, look into the new pintucked linens with subtle metallic thread, and draw on crystal-studded placecard frames to guide your guests to their seats. Top off your cake with another tiara, circling a sweet dome of cream-colored roses.

Aqua and Platinum

Imagine crisp white roses peeking out of silver trumpet vases. Sleek silver candlesticks keep the look going, with delicate white rose petals scattered at the base. A silver monogram sets off the top of your cake. Brushed silver frames announce each table number and guest seat.

Guests tuck into a delectable meal over silver chargers, after oohing and ahhing over the generous favor box that graced their plate. While you finished up with your photos, they'd enjoyed a signature cocktail made with Blue Curacao and a jigger of pineapple juice, gussied up even more with a bright blue sugar rim.

Your gifts to your bridesmaids? Sterling-silver pendants ... and timeless silver cufflinks for the guys.

Aqua Hits the Beach

Aqua's a favorite color of beach-bound brides everywhere. Don't be afraid to pair aqua with eye-popping colors like fuchsia or coral, aubergine or pale yellow. For flowers, start with white or fuchsia orchids and super-fluffy peonies. Want to go a little wilder? How about coral roses and Pincushion Proteas, or fuchsia gloriosas.

winter 2

Aqua Goes to Paris

Take this flamboyant theme (perfect for bridal showers, too) for a spin by arranging giant ostrich feathers in tall Eiffel vases and scattering marabou feathers plus rose petals down your tables. The perfect boutonniére: a white rose, a few marabou feathers and a shiny aqua ribbon. Trés chic!

More Aqua Tips for Any Bride

A classic treatment of aqua calls for a classic flower. It's easy to lose your heart to roses in white, blush or even peach. For an elegant centerpiece, go for paveed roses arranged side-by-side in aqua wooden boxes. Or place simple posies of white and blush roses in square glass cylinders, tying them off with a blue satin ribbon.

A white and aqua candy buffet also makes a stylish statement. Try silver Hershey's kisses, blue Jordan almonds, and white amorini and conversation hearts.

Aqua Attire

David's Bridal has made suiting up for aqua easy (look for "Pool"). Popular combos for bridesmaids (again!) include ivory, pink and chocolate brown in some combination with aqua.

It bears repeating, though: aqua can be overpowering in large doses, unless you lighten it up with a splash of white. The white crinolines shown above are one gorgeous way of breaking up the color block of your bridesmaids' gowns.

Another option: confine aqua to smaller canvases, like sashes, vests, or table overlays.

Speaking of vests, the guys will look sharp in black tuxes with aqua blue ties. Look into those chocolate brown tuxedos too, which make a visually eye-popping match for chocolate brown/aqua blue bridesmaids.

Hello!
I am having the typical tiffany blue and white/cream wedding, however we are incorporating the tropical island theme as well in honor of my fiance’ :love2: oh, and 2 hearts are our main theme . Does anyone have any ideas on how to decorate using all of those different combos, where to buy things online, and if anyone on here are getting rid of anu of their stuff. I am trying to budget big time. My wedding date is set for 9/10/2010!! I’m so excited!! Thank you and congrats to any newly weds and engaged :cheer:

I wanted to do something similar so I decided on doing the centerpieces in two tier tiffany’s boxes kind of like the one in the pic but with flowers around the base of the bottom box in a mix of different flowers and am adding a little bling to the boxes with rhinestone monograms. I also found these really cute bows that are tulle and satin on ebay! We did a practice one that came out AMAZING! also using tropical flowers in the decorations and saved alot of money getting family and the bridesmaids together to make most of my decor! I also posted a few flower ideas that we found. I have lots more so let me know if you need any more!

I just had my wedding this past May and I have some items that I am ready to sell. The first thing I have to list is a Tiffany Blue Bridesmaid dress. The dress is tagged as a size 14, but it was actually altered down to about a size 6. It is a Bella Formals by Venus dress, tea length, and has a white ribbon around the waist. This dress is really flattering. I would like to get $40. Please email me if you are interested, twood_03@hotmail.com.

Really anything for a tiffany blue wedding I would be interested in purchasing. Please send a picture along with description and asking price. I am in Indianapolis, but will pay shipping. THANKS SO MUCH!!!

It is just the material to make the sashes. It’s not cut into the sashes yet, so you could do the sashes or anything else that you wanted to with it.

I need some advice. I’ve picked out my bridesmaids dresses for the second time! (which is attached) The reason why I picked new dresses is because a couple of my bridesmaids which happen to be my future in-laws did not like my first picked dress (which was also less expensive). They said that they do want to wear a “skinny girl” dress or a dress that will “show their gut”. To be completely honest one of them is a little on the heavier side and the other is just COMPLETLEY over-exaggerating (she’s 5′2 & 117 pounds). Then she starts complaining that she hopes that I don’t pick out an expensive dress. This girl is driving me CRAZY!! I want everyone to be happy and comfortable with the dress I’ve picked out. How can get my way and make everyone happy at the same time. Or should I just turn into a Bridezilla and say my way or the HIGHWAY? I’m getting married on March 26th and it’s getting down to the wire so I need to decide NOW! :?

It isn’t fair for them to be like this. It is YOUR wedding, therefore your choice. Hope everything works out! The dress is beautiful!

I agree with Greta and the dress is beautiful. on the flipside if they arent happy with the dresses chose, due to their body shapes or skintone, it will show on the wedding pics. Every bm wants to look beautiful and confident on the wedding day too. SMILE. I understand your situation. This is what i would do, take the girls one last time to a shop ( after you have visited prior and picked some inexpensive but nice dresses) show them what you have picked and let them try them on, see which one they like. It could be they may want to wear different dresses, ( which black or brown is perfect for this mix match look) which is very today and looks beautiful in pics. not every style will compliment each bm body and skintone. the easiest choice is to pick a classic, wear again, neutral color. I didnt know what your wedding colors were but i am betting your bm would love to wear black or brown. these colors are amazing with aqua and the bm feel sexy cause these colors can be that. then add aqua sashes or wraps and black, brown ,metallic or aqua shoes. cocktail dresses are also a great look, i noticed you picked a gorgeous floor length dress. my daughter is 5′2″ and a knee length dress compliments her more than a floor length. I agree with you and would highly go against a skin bearing dress unless your theme is moroccan or indian where saris are common and even then body types should be considered.
*examples
*more examples
*great example
*aqua and brown bm
TIP: even if your using other colors, just match the bm dresses to the color of tux the guys are in. i am assuming black. you dont have to incorporate this color any where else cause neutrals go with everything, just bring in pops of color for brightness in the bouquets and ribbons.

Hi ladies,
I have a dress for sale. New with tags, never worn. I also have a pool sash to go wtih it, al from David’s Bridal. Size 12 but for a size 10 body since David Bridal makes their dresses small. You can wear it with the pool sash or just keep the white sash that came with it. I paid $399 for the dress and $59 for the sash plus taxes but I will sell all for $350.
I bought this dress because I really loved it when I tried it on and would have used it but my Dad who wasn’t supposed to be at my wedding because of his health and travelling issues decided to buy me a dress, how could I not accept? So I now have two beautiful dresses. If you are interested, please email me at maybride@live.com

I have a few thing left that I am selling. I have attached a few pictures and I can email you more if you are interested in
anything. I also have a ring bearer pillow and flower basket and a couple pool colored baskets that I used. Thanks and congratulations! :)

I purchased the flower petals from Michael’s. The white and blue came in seprarate boxes so I just mixed the two. Thanks!

Hey I was wondering if you had any of this left… Also where did you find some of your pool boxes and whatever else you found for decor at the wedding?

I no longer have the small gift boxes or petals. The boxes you can find on eBay. The only items I have left are a few blue baskets and the calililly centerpieces.
Thanks! :)
