The Aqua Blue Wedding

It might say beach. It might say Fifth Avenue.

Either way, the aqua blue wedding (often paired with the most classic of supporting acts, like silver, pearls and creamy roses) is a feast for the imagination ... and the eyes.

Pulling off Your Own Aqua Blue Wedding

Plenty of aqua brides stick to their beloved blue, offset with lots of crisp white and crystal. But many brides accent with more colors. Popular uptown picks include chocolate brown, platinum and soft pastel pink. Beachier combinations include orange, fuchsia or yellow. Fearless brides even pair aqua with red!

This look offers so many choices, you just need to lay claim to yours. Decide whether to "spread the wealth" with faux pearls and seashells, or swarovski crystals and platinum accents, or seashells or giant white ostrich feathers — or some other direction that's all your own.

Aqua Blue and Crystal

If you're a crystal bride, you'll sparkle in a gown with a bodice lightly embroidered with Swarovski crystals, and tuck a crystal tiara in your updo.

Then, thrill your bridesmaids with crystal hair pins or combs. Plus, place glimmering picks in your floral bouquet, or skip the blooms and bear an all-Swarovski heirloom crystal bouquet down the aisle.

Having a tent wedding? Line the marquee roof with string lights, hang clear crystal chandeliers from the center, and prop up more crystal in the form of grand candelabras topping Corinthian columns.

Then, look into the new pintucked linens with subtle metallic thread, and draw on crystal-studded placecard frames to guide your guests to their seats. Top off your cake with another tiara, circling a sweet dome of cream-colored roses.

Aqua and Platinum

Imagine crisp white roses peeking out of silver trumpet vases. Sleek silver candlesticks keep the look going, with delicate white rose petals scattered at the base. A silver monogram sets off the top of your cake. Brushed silver frames announce each table number and guest seat.

Guests tuck into a delectable meal over silver chargers, after oohing and ahhing over the generous favor box that graced their plate. While you finished up with your photos, they'd enjoyed a signature cocktail made with Blue Curacao and a jigger of pineapple juice, gussied up even more with a bright blue sugar rim.

Your gifts to your bridesmaids? Sterling-silver pendants ... and timeless silver cufflinks for the guys.

Aqua Hits the Beach

Aqua's a favorite color of beach-bound brides everywhere. Don't be afraid to pair aqua with eye-popping colors like fuchsia or coral, aubergine or pale yellow. For flowers, start with white or fuchsia orchids and super-fluffy peonies. Want to go a little wilder? How about coral roses and Pincushion Proteas, or fuchsia gloriosas.

winter 2

Aqua Goes to Paris

Take this flamboyant theme (perfect for bridal showers, too) for a spin by arranging giant ostrich feathers in tall Eiffel vases and scattering marabou feathers plus rose petals down your tables. The perfect boutonniére: a white rose, a few marabou feathers and a shiny aqua ribbon. Trés chic!

More Aqua Tips for Any Bride

A classic treatment of aqua calls for a classic flower. It's easy to lose your heart to roses in white, blush or even peach. For an elegant centerpiece, go for paveed roses arranged side-by-side in aqua wooden boxes. Or place simple posies of white and blush roses in square glass cylinders, tying them off with a blue satin ribbon.

A white and aqua candy buffet also makes a stylish statement. Try silver Hershey's kisses, blue Jordan almonds, and white amorini and conversation hearts.

Aqua Attire

David's Bridal has made suiting up for aqua easy (look for "Pool"). Popular combos for bridesmaids (again!) include ivory, pink and chocolate brown in some combination with aqua.

It bears repeating, though: aqua can be overpowering in large doses, unless you lighten it up with a splash of white. The white crinolines shown above are one gorgeous way of breaking up the color block of your bridesmaids' gowns.

Another option: confine aqua to smaller canvases, like sashes, vests, or table overlays.

Speaking of vests, the guys will look sharp in black tuxes with aqua blue ties. Look into those chocolate brown tuxedos too, which make a visually eye-popping match for chocolate brown/aqua blue bridesmaids.

http://www.mardigrasoutlet.com/ bought white pearlized beads

Hi guys! I’m so happy I’ve found this site… My wedding colors are aqua, bright purple and apple green…(the apple green may be used as accents; might also use lavender as accents along with it too). Does anyone have any ideas for my bridal party, favors, decorations, etc…? :? {i sorta plan to wear green shoes..} :D
Pictures or links to pictures would be great. Thank you soooo much!

Niqi,
* look at this

I would most likely steer to aqua if it suits the skintones. it is more mellow for them and the flowers will be gorgeous against it. I would not go more than aqua/purple/green for my color scheme. Those colors are very nice but adding lavender might make it look busy. If you could give me the link or pic to your venue I would be ahapy to take a look. Also do you have a theme?

Hello Ladies! I’m having an aqua blue and espresso wedding in June 2010, and am still undecided on flowers. I’m leaning toward white hydrangia, but my florist is pushing gerbera daisies. Care to share thoughts? Thanks!

Hey Kate,

Congratulations on the engagement and wedding! I had similar colors for my wedding as well, and I used white hydrangeas. I didn’t use real ones, but you couldn’t tell ;) I have pictures of the hydrangea centerpieces I made for my wedding at http://www.flickr.com/KaleyBaby Don’t let your florist tell you what to use because this is YOUR wedding. I used hydrangeas for sentimental reasons, but you should use whichever flower YOU like. Also, you need to choose flowers that fit your taste and the wedding’s “theme” (if that makes sense). For instance, I picture gerbera daisies to be more of a small, quaint outdoor country wedding; I guess thats because a friend of mine used those flowers for her wedding that she had on her dad’s farm. Anyway, hope this helps, and good luck making your final decision!

Hydrangia!!!!i got married in october 2007 and my mother and mother in law carried gerber dasies.it was a sunday day wedding and the gerber’s were casual.

when i think tiffany blue and chocolate, i think rich…warm..elegant. i think hydrangia is perfect..

good luck. any decision you make will look beautiful…anyways, who cares about the flowers…they will all be looking at you!!!

I still have 10 floating candle bowls (10 inches around - they are BIG!) with pool/aqua colored stones for sale.

I also have a David’s Bridal pool colored flower girl basket with tiffany blue petals for sale.

Additionally I also have a unity candle holder that I need to sell. $10.

$50 for the bowls + $10 shipping.
$55 for the bowls and stones + 10 shipping.

$20 for the flower girl basket with petals. A pic is attached. It looks exactly like this:

I have several inquiries about my sashes but will make another post if they do not sell in the next few days.

I am stuck ladies and hoping you’ll be able to help. I need to find somewhere that I can purchase some Tiffany Blue coloured card for our invites. We’re making our own as have designed them ourselves but I’m having a hard time finding the card. Ideally we wanted a pearlescent card in that colour but I’ll settle for the card plain if I can get the colour! It’s so frustrating and time is ticking for us.

Hope you’re all having a good time planning. I’m glad to have found this site and look forward to sharing ideas with you all.

Hi Brittany, I would definitely be interested to see the colour! You could just save the day here!

I am in the UK, whereabouts are you? How much would you want for the card and do you know how much it would be to mail it to me?

By letter size, is that the same as A4 or smaller? Are your packs 50 sheets each? I need to work out how many I need. Definitely could find use for 50 though! :D

Do I need to send you an email seperately for you to be able to email me?

For centerpieces I purchased glass bowls, lights to light from below, some blue gravel, water fills into the bowl with fish in bowls and then some seashell floating candles above :)

I hope you find whatever it is you’ll enjoy!! t

View this link to see my wedding reception: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWxiCw13oDw

I was married in May 2009 - we had our reception at the aquarium - overlooking the Ohio River - beautiful. I used stargazer (sp.) lillies, white roses, and white orchids - beautiful! The centerpieces used were cylinder glass vases in the center with a floating stargazer lilly or large head rose. There were aqua beads at the bottom in some, and clear in the others. I used a submerssible light - some were tiffany blue lights, and some were clear lights. Surrounding the centerpiece were crystal stemmed votive holders with white burning votive candles inside - 3 per table. All of this sat on top of a beveled glass mirror - square with diamonds galore. Some were confetti (2 and 3 inch diamond size), others were large, chunky sized diamonds. The tables had a crisp white table linen with tiffany blue satin runners that were hand made - has silver beading drapping off each side. The tables were set beautifully with white china that sat on top of silver charger plates. We used chalvari (sp) chairs that had the same tiffany blue satin chair tie (bow tie).

This may sound like alot - you can see it in the video and see what you think.

I have many items for sale - I’ve been married 9 months now and it is so hard to depart from my treasured items. I planned and smart-bargain shopped for a solid year. I have very particular taste and I am happy to share any tricks of the trade for brides who want to plan a beautiful wedding and be smart about doing it. Let me know your thoughts - my email is luchielle1@yahoo.com.

Peace and Blessings to All! (this web-site was one of my favorites when I was planning our wedding)

Hey Michelle,

Here is something fun and beachy and not costly for a centerpiece. How about a big martini glass filled with these Tiffany Blue “ice” pieces and a pink seashell in it. You can purchase the TB ice at http://www.efavormart.com (it’s considered turquoise ice). As for the martini glass, I got mine at Hobby Lobby for 50% off. You could pick any shell that is your desired pink color or spraypaint it your color to put inside the glass with the ice. I’m sure you could purchase them in bulk online or buy some at a craft store. I just thought it was something easy and unique but still stunning. Good Luck!

Hi ladies,
I’m about to be married in 3 months and guess what I found out. I’m pregnant. Shh, don’t tell anyone. I already bought my dress ages ago and now I won’t be able to wear it because in 3 months I will definitely not be able to fit into it. So I now have to sell it. It’s from David’s Bridal, size 12 but is more like a regular 10. It comes with a white ribbon sash in the waist but I aslo bought a beautiful pool sash to go wtih my tiffany theme that drapes to the floor. I also have a veil with the pool edging to go with the sash. They’re gorgeuos together. (see picture)
I paid $399 for the dress, $69 for the veil and $59 for the sash but i’m willing to sell everything for $350 since I need to buy another dress asap. If interested please email me at maybride@live.com.
