The Aqua Blue Wedding

It might say beach. It might say Fifth Avenue.

Either way, the aqua blue wedding (often paired with the most classic of supporting acts, like silver, pearls and creamy roses) is a feast for the imagination ... and the eyes.

Pulling off Your Own Aqua Blue Wedding

Plenty of aqua brides stick to their beloved blue, offset with lots of crisp white and crystal. But many brides accent with more colors. Popular uptown picks include chocolate brown, platinum and soft pastel pink. Beachier combinations include orange, fuchsia or yellow. Fearless brides even pair aqua with red!

This look offers so many choices, you just need to lay claim to yours. Decide whether to "spread the wealth" with faux pearls and seashells, or swarovski crystals and platinum accents, or seashells or giant white ostrich feathers — or some other direction that's all your own.

Aqua Blue and Crystal

If you're a crystal bride, you'll sparkle in a gown with a bodice lightly embroidered with Swarovski crystals, and tuck a crystal tiara in your updo.

Then, thrill your bridesmaids with crystal hair pins or combs. Plus, place glimmering picks in your floral bouquet, or skip the blooms and bear an all-Swarovski heirloom crystal bouquet down the aisle.

Having a tent wedding? Line the marquee roof with string lights, hang clear crystal chandeliers from the center, and prop up more crystal in the form of grand candelabras topping Corinthian columns.

Then, look into the new pintucked linens with subtle metallic thread, and draw on crystal-studded placecard frames to guide your guests to their seats. Top off your cake with another tiara, circling a sweet dome of cream-colored roses.

Aqua and Platinum

Imagine crisp white roses peeking out of silver trumpet vases. Sleek silver candlesticks keep the look going, with delicate white rose petals scattered at the base. A silver monogram sets off the top of your cake. Brushed silver frames announce each table number and guest seat.

Guests tuck into a delectable meal over silver chargers, after oohing and ahhing over the generous favor box that graced their plate. While you finished up with your photos, they'd enjoyed a signature cocktail made with Blue Curacao and a jigger of pineapple juice, gussied up even more with a bright blue sugar rim.

Your gifts to your bridesmaids? Sterling-silver pendants ... and timeless silver cufflinks for the guys.

Aqua Hits the Beach

Aqua's a favorite color of beach-bound brides everywhere. Don't be afraid to pair aqua with eye-popping colors like fuchsia or coral, aubergine or pale yellow. For flowers, start with white or fuchsia orchids and super-fluffy peonies. Want to go a little wilder? How about coral roses and Pincushion Proteas, or fuchsia gloriosas.

winter 2

Aqua Goes to Paris

Take this flamboyant theme (perfect for bridal showers, too) for a spin by arranging giant ostrich feathers in tall Eiffel vases and scattering marabou feathers plus rose petals down your tables. The perfect boutonniére: a white rose, a few marabou feathers and a shiny aqua ribbon. Trés chic!

More Aqua Tips for Any Bride

A classic treatment of aqua calls for a classic flower. It's easy to lose your heart to roses in white, blush or even peach. For an elegant centerpiece, go for paveed roses arranged side-by-side in aqua wooden boxes. Or place simple posies of white and blush roses in square glass cylinders, tying them off with a blue satin ribbon.

A white and aqua candy buffet also makes a stylish statement. Try silver Hershey's kisses, blue Jordan almonds, and white amorini and conversation hearts.

Aqua Attire

David's Bridal has made suiting up for aqua easy (look for "Pool"). Popular combos for bridesmaids (again!) include ivory, pink and chocolate brown in some combination with aqua.

It bears repeating, though: aqua can be overpowering in large doses, unless you lighten it up with a splash of white. The white crinolines shown above are one gorgeous way of breaking up the color block of your bridesmaids' gowns.

Another option: confine aqua to smaller canvases, like sashes, vests, or table overlays.

Speaking of vests, the guys will look sharp in black tuxes with aqua blue ties. Look into those chocolate brown tuxedos too, which make a visually eye-popping match for chocolate brown/aqua blue bridesmaids.

Hi brides,

My wedding is March 21st and I will be selling stuff from my wedding. I have over 20 three tiered box centerpieces. They are tiffany blue with rhinestones around the top box. The boxes are tied together with white satin ribbon. I had tags made by Viola on Ebay which say “Kristen and Chris. March 21, 2009″. Mine can be easily removed and replaced with your own! I also have a matching card box. Around the boxes I am scattering faux diamonds which I will also sell.

I am having a candy bar for my guests. I have 13 brand new glass jars to sell. None of them are scratched, chipped, or cracked. I lined them with different ribbons. Some have plain tiffany blue ribbon, some have tiffany blue ribbon that says “LOVE” with the “O” as a wedding ring and then some have a silver ribbon. I will sell the jars with the ribbon or without. I glued the ribbon with a hot glue gun and they can be pulled right off if you don’t like the ribbon. I also made a wooden sign that says “Love is Sweet”. It is painted in tiffany blue with the base in white. Since you can only attach 3 pictures at a time, I will make another post with the rest of my pictures. Just to give more ideas for brides who are planning to have a candy bar, I made labels to cover my lifesavers that say “Lovesavers”. I have mini take out boxes that say “Love is Sweet, Enjoy the Treat”. I do have around 50 extra white take out boxes. The last thing I will be selling are my candy scoops. I have 6 of them and they are silver with a heart on the handle.

If you are interested in any of these items e-mail me at Kristen.gonzales@yahoo.com. I live in San Antonio so if the items need to be shipped, I will add shipping and handling.

sharmiece,
i have actually seen some at walmart and craft stores. though you can take anything to make bouquet jewelry.like brooches, hair pins, etc. as long as it has a decently sharp pin you can shove into a long floral pick or wrap the pin around floral pick with green floral tape , make sure it is secured. and stick it into your bouquet. i promise it wont show! you can even use very sturdy wire. another thing you can do like in pic i posted. take wire and thread beautiful beads, adjust accordingly on your bouquet. if the diy makes you uncomfy. just google search bouquet jewelry it has many links. also try ebay. but i think a craft store would be less expensive also google bouquet jewelry inexpensive.

I am now looking to buy a white wire arch because she has five other sisters and we have plenty of cousins who could benefit from just buying instead of renting one. Please if anyone has any info-I am in the Houston Area. Look in promwishescatalog.com and they have a theme that is fuschia and black- my cuz wants that but in her colors. Just wanted to share.

Hi ladies…so here are some tips for you young ladies on a budget…I just recently married off my daughter…1) we designed our table decorations then rented them from a company in oregon that rents centerpieces for weddings…they were called “living” decorations…fish swimming in vases w/ flowers, real apples in vases, etc. Very classy, and very cheap…much cheaper than flowers and when the wedding was over they cleaned everything up for us…2)also, we had a dry wedding, but provided a coffee bar for our guests…everyone went crazy over this and thought it was so creative…3) we bought all our food from Costco, then hired kids from our local high schools catering class to set up, clean up and serve…food and kids for 150 people ran us less than $500…check out Macy’s…they have a number of aqua colored items…as does JC Penny’s…if your near a Michael’s craft store they had a number of items that were aqua and brown before Christmas…good luck to all, and best wishes! BTW…we did our whole wedding, venue included for less than $5,000 and it was quite spectacular…P.S. found candelabras on sale at local store for $20…great deals out there…see what can be rented instead of purchased…also check out Craigslist…lots of stuff out there to be had!

whitney, this sounds beautiful!! i would pick a single flower like hydrangea, roses or orchids. keep it simple. pale buttercream yellow would be beautiful. shades of pinks or even a combo of purples and blue can be breathaking against these colors. the color that popped out in my mind was to reverse your colors. you carry an amazing shades of blue bouquet and have your bm carry champagne. when decorating the venue add pops of fresh green with champagne roses. while keeping the blue in your bridal party. if your looking for a way to tie blue in centerpieces just tint the water a shade of ocean blue with simple food dye. to me, this is a cheap way to bring in color that will standout.

for more pics google image aqua and green wedding. then purple and blue wedding bouquet. aqua and yellow wedding board. for even more info google image champagne rose bouquet and white orchid bouquet. these should help you narrow down some choices. let me know when you do would love to help further!!

Hi Stacey,

tiffany, hi again!! i have put together an inspiration board, hope you like it!! i didn’t know what type of formality your wedding so i made it to suit outdoors or indoors, this would go with a garden as well as a ballroom. if its informal/semi formal just have guys in simple black suits and silver ties, girls in black dresses with silver sash or silver strappy heels. put flowergirl in a white dress with black or tiffany blue sash. i accented white and blue flowers with a pale yellow. i thought it would bring out the colors.

Hey there everyone,
I had a aqua & chocolate (w/ ivory shells) wedding in November. I have many items to sell. Has anyone had any luck selling their wedding stuff on ebay? There is just so much I would like another bride to benefit. I was on a budget and to be honest refused to pay “wedding prices” for the decorations!! ;) I did a lot of it myself. (For instance My dad cut all my seashells himself for place cards) Some of the things I have: aqua Organza table overlays, aqua satin table runner, chocolate satin table runner, assorted apothecary candy buffet containers, glass center pieces (we used glass stones and floating candles), aqua, brown and clear glass stones, votive candle holders, brand new in box aqua and chocolate favor box kits, cut seashells for place/namecards. With all the stress of the wedding then holidays I haven’t had a chance to go through it all so I am sure I will have more. I would appreciate any advice.
Thanks

Hi ladies,

I have 83 4×6 pieces of Tiffany Blue textured cardstock. I used these as postcards for my response cards. They were beautiful! They would also be great for mats in a scrapbook! Asking $10 for all plus $1.50 for shipping. Please e-mail me at stacey.dr@hotmail.com.

deanna,

* Karen Tran Florals

chek out galleries especially the kimberly’s wedding and also valeries. i can’t say how much i love the deeper shade of blue with this,so subtle so simply elegant. since the other colors didn’t fit the bill. that is all i would do is pick a deeper subtle shade of blue or go with the with the white flowers like orchids that have a tinge of color in the center.
