The Aqua Blue Wedding

It might say beach. It might say Fifth Avenue.

Either way, the aqua blue wedding (often paired with the most classic of supporting acts, like silver, pearls and creamy roses) is a feast for the imagination ... and the eyes.

How to Plan Your Own Aqua Blue Wedding

Plenty of aqua brides stick to their beloved blue, offset with lots of crisp white and crystal. But many brides accent with more colors. Popular uptown picks include chocolate brown, platinum and soft pastel pink. Beachier combinations include orange, fuchsia or yellow. Fearless brides even pair aqua with red!

This look offers so many choices, you just need to lay claim to yours. Decide whether to "spread the wealth" with faux pearls and seashells, or swarovski crystals and platinum accents, or seashells or giant white ostrich feathers — or some other direction that's all your own.

Aqua Blue and Crystal

If you're a crystal bride, you'll sparkle in a gown with a bodice lightly embroidered with Swarovski crystals, and tuck a crystal tiara in your updo.

Then, thrill your bridesmaids with crystal hair pins or combs. Plus, place glimmering picks in your floral bouquet, or skip the blooms and bear an all-Swarovski heirloom crystal bouquet down the aisle.

Having a tent wedding? Line the marquee roof with string lights, hang clear crystal chandeliers from the center, and prop up more crystal in the form of grand candelabras topping Corinthian columns.

Then, look into the new pintucked linens with subtle metallic thread, and draw on crystal-studded placecard frames to guide your guests to their seats. Top off your cake with another tiara, circling a sweet dome of cream-colored roses.

Aqua and Platinum

Imagine crisp white roses peeking out of silver trumpet vases. Sleek silver candlesticks keep the look going, with delicate white rose petals scattered at the base. A silver monogram sets off the top of your cake. Brushed silver frames announce each table number and guest seat.

Guests tuck into a delectable meal over silver chargers, after oohing and ahhing over the generous favor box that graced their plate. While you finished up with your photos, they'd enjoyed a signature cocktail made with Blue Curacao and a jigger of pineapple juice, gussied up even more with a bright blue sugar rim.

Your gifts to your bridesmaids? Sterling-silver pendants ... and timeless silver cufflinks for the guys.

Aqua Hits the Beach

Aqua's a favorite color of beach-bound brides everywhere. Don't be afraid to pair aqua with eye-popping colors like fuchsia or coral, aubergine or pale yellow. For flowers, start with white or fuchsia orchids and super-fluffy peonies. Want to go a little wilder? How about coral roses and Pincushion Proteas, or fuchsia gloriosas.

Aqua Goes to Paris

Take this flamboyant theme (perfect for bridal showers, too) for a spin by arranging giant ostrich feathers in tall Eiffel vases and scattering marabou feathers plus rose petals down your tables. The perfect boutonniére: a white rose, a few marabou feathers and a shiny aqua ribbon. Trés chic!

More Aqua Tips for Any Bride

A classic treatment of aqua calls for a classic flower. It's easy to lose your heart to roses in white, blush or even peach. For an elegant centerpiece, go for paveed roses arranged side-by-side in aqua wooden boxes. Or place simple posies of white and blush roses in square glass cylinders, tying them off with a blue satin ribbon.

A white and aqua candy buffet also makes a stylish statement. Try silver Hershey's kisses, blue Jordan almonds, and white amorini and conversation hearts.

Aqua Attire

David's Bridal has made suiting up for aqua easy (look for "Pool"). Popular combos for bridesmaids (again!) include ivory, pink and chocolate brown in some combination with aqua.

It bears repeating, though: aqua can be overpowering in large doses, unless you lighten it up with a splash of white. The white crinolines shown above are one gorgeous way of breaking up the color block of your bridesmaids' gowns.

Another option: confine aqua to smaller canvases, like sashes, vests, or table overlays.

Speaking of vests, the guys will look sharp in black tuxes with aqua blue ties. Look into those chocolate brown tuxedos too, which make a visually eye-popping match for chocolate brown/aqua blue bridesmaids.

  5. Hi All,

Anyone know where to get tiffany blue balloons?

    Thanks. :love2:

  6. Lindsay

I’m thinking about doing an aqua blue with yellow for my wedding. Does anyone have any pictures or advice for me when going with this theme? The yellow would likely be a paler shade so it’s not too overpowering with the blue. Nothing has been decided for sure yet, still trying to get some ideas. Thanks!

  7. rayanne

I am planning to get married. I am thinking of my wedding motiff now. My favorite coloris BLUE. Is aqua blue and silver a good combination?

  8. Maggie

My daughter is getting married July 10, 2010 and she is planning on using an aqua and apple green color theme – does anyone know of any store or website where we can find bridesmaid dressed that have more than one color to them or that would carry this color theme? Any help would be greatly appreciated as we are having a difficult time finding something she likes with her colors. Also if we can’t find the dress with two colors does anyone thing we can dress the MOH in the green and the rest of the bridesmaids in the aqua or visa versa – how would that look??

    • stacey

      Maggie,
have you considered an ombre dress?
      * like here
you can also get a aqua or green dress for bridesmaids and add the opposite color sash. or have them in aqua dresses ( for example and have their bouquets with a mix of aqua and green ( long) chiffon ribbons floating down.
      * ombre dresses

      • Maggie

        Stacey,

Thank you so much for your help, I really like those sample pics you sent and I will share them with my daughter.

        Thanks again!!

  9. Schmeca

    Hey ladies,

I’m getting married 6-19-10 my colors are pool and ivory. I’m looking for any fabric or bows that can be hung on the side of the church pews if anyone is giving away any of these please feel free to contact me. ;)

    • Cherlyn

Hey I know you were asking about anyone giving away pew bows, but if it comes down to you buying some, we found ours off ebay. I think they were listed as Aqua or Teal but they are like 95% close to the actual tiffany color. We bought them as tiffany and black but they also sell them as tiffany solid and tiffany white and tiffany ivory. Just an idea for you. It was the cheapest place we could find them at. Good luck with your planning!

    • Whitnie

I have fabric that I am selling. Please send me your email address and I can send you pics.

    • Whitnie

I have fabric. Send me your email address (whitniemayr@hotmail.com) andI will send you pictures if you are still interested.

  10. Amanda

HI! I am having a Tiffany blue and Tangerine wedding on 10-10-10 and I am also having a hard time finding Tiffany Blue Decor. Nothing seems to match exactly and is driving me crazy! Does anyone know of any places to shop for these things? I was thinking about the tiffany blue paper lanterns, But I am not sure how to hang them from the ceiling at my venue? Can I hire someone or am I supposed to figure it out myself? I am also having a hard time deciding on what to use as center pieces. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! I’ve never done this before and have no idea where to start! Thanks!

    • Cherlyn

Hey Amanda. We are using the lanterns in tiffany, white, and black at our reception as well. You should talk to your venue about wanting to do this and they will let you know on if You yourself will have to set them up or if they can have someone do this for you. They may just set them up for you as part of your fees paid or it could cost extra. Our location charged us a Setting Fee in our invoice which includes ANY decor setting for the reception (ie: setting up favors, centerpieces, etc..) and they are including the hanging of our lanterns as part of this original fee cost so it wasnt extra. They arent hard to set up as long as you have the time to set aside and do it but if they would do it for you, I would totally go for that. haha. Less on your plate to do that big day. Maybe do the Tiffany and Tangerine lanterns mixed up in color to bring both together. They sell them in both colors. Also for centerpieces we just bought clear glass vases and purchased those gel caps (look like glass beads almost) to put in them with some ribbon around the vases and flowers. Very clean, yet elegant look. Just an idea for you :) Good luck with your planning !!

      • Amanda

Thanks Carolyn! That is a great idea. I’m going to the venue tomorrow to book it, and that is a great question to ask! I am also considering the gel caps. Where do you find them at? I live in a small town, so nothing is easy for me to find! Do you know where to get chair sashes as well? Thanks!

  11. Carolyn

  13. Amanda

    Hi everyone,

I’m new to this…my wedding is Aug 2010 and all I know so far is that my BM dresses are aqua…besides white, what is a nice color flower for the bouquets? And since my aqua doesn’t exactly match Tiffany blue, anyone have any other ideas for centerpieces?? Thanks!

    Amanda

    • stacey

      Amanda,
Hi! if i could get a look at your venue link or pic i could see what would work. Looking forward to your next post!

      • Amanda

        Hey Stacey,

My venue is at Chateau La Mer in Long island…if you google it, a lot of pics are available in the gallery…thanks so much for your help!!

        • stacey

          Amanda,
would you like to use a shade of peach or apricot? i think that apricot roses would be gorgeous in this setting. if so let me know and i will make you a board to show how it can look together. i am thinking creamy apricot not bright just soft and subtle with elegant impact. it would be beautiful with the gold and aqua.

    Hello!
I am having the typical tiffany blue and white/cream wedding, however we are incorporating the tropical island theme as well in honor of my fiance’ :love2: oh, and 2 hearts are our main theme . Does anyone have any ideas on how to decorate using all of those different combos, where to buy things online, and if anyone on here are getting rid of anu of their stuff. I am trying to budget big time. My wedding date is set for 9/10/2010!! I’m so excited!! Thank you and congrats to any newly weds and engaged :cheer:

    • Whitnie

I have 18 yards of aqua organza that you may want or could use.

    • Miss Von

I wanted to do something similar so I decided on doing the centerpieces in two tier tiffany’s boxes kind of like the one in the pic but with flowers around the base of the bottom box in a mix of different flowers and am adding a little bling to the boxes with rhinestone monograms. I also found these really cute bows that are tulle and satin on ebay! We did a practice one that came out AMAZING! also using tropical flowers in the decorations and saved alot of money getting family and the bridesmaids together to make most of my decor! I also posted a few flower ideas that we found. I have lots more so let me know if you need any more!

      • Greta

Everything is beautiful! Where did you find the tiffany blue wrapping for the boxes? I’m planning on doing the same for a card box.

      • Allie

Hi I’m wondering where you got your boxes or if you have them and are interested in selling them. Thanks Allie

  20. Talia

I just had my wedding this past May and I have some items that I am ready to sell. The first thing I have to list is a Tiffany Blue Bridesmaid dress. The dress is tagged as a size 14, but it was actually altered down to about a size 6. It is a Bella Formals by Venus dress, tea length, and has a white ribbon around the waist. This dress is really flattering. I would like to get $40. Please email me if you are interested, twood_03@hotmail.com.

I have the aqua (Tiffany Blue) organza that is used to make the chair sashes. Let me know if you are interested.

  23. LaLa

Our Colors for the wedding are Light Blue and Chocolate Brown. I didn’t realize what a popular combination it was. If you have some things and are willing to sell please contact me at lala3345@hotmail.com
    Thanks :D

    • Lindsey

is The tiffany blue.. kinda like the pool color blue.. I would be interested in the chair sashes
      Thanks !

      • Whitnie

It is just the material to make the sashes. It’s not cut into the sashes yet, so you could do the sashes or anything else that you wanted to with it.

  24. Toya

I need some advice. I’ve picked out my bridesmaids dresses for the second time! (which is attached) The reason why I picked new dresses is because a couple of my bridesmaids which happen to be my future in-laws did not like my first picked dress (which was also less expensive). They said that they do want to wear a “skinny girl” dress or a dress that will “show their gut”. To be completely honest one of them is a little on the heavier side and the other is just COMPLETLEY over-exaggerating (she’s 5’2 & 117 pounds). Then she starts complaining that she hopes that I don’t pick out an expensive dress. This girl is driving me CRAZY!! I want everyone to be happy and comfortable with the dress I’ve picked out. How can get my way and make everyone happy at the same time. Or should I just turn into a Bridezilla and say my way or the HIGHWAY? I’m getting married on March 26th and it’s getting down to the wire so I need to decide NOW! :?

    • Greta

It isn’t fair for them to be like this. It is YOUR wedding, therefore your choice. Hope everything works out! The dress is beautiful!

      • Mel

Make it easy on yourself! Pick the brand/color/fabric and let them each pick their own styles.

    • stacey

I agree with Greta and the dress is beautiful. on the flipside if they arent happy with the dresses chose, due to their body shapes or skintone, it will show on the wedding pics. Every bm wants to look beautiful and confident on the wedding day too. SMILE. I understand your situation. This is what i would do, take the girls one last time to a shop ( after you have visited prior and picked some inexpensive but nice dresses) show them what you have picked and let them try them on, see which one they like. It could be they may want to wear different dresses, ( which black or brown is perfect for this mix match look) which is very today and looks beautiful in pics. not every style will compliment each bm body and skintone. the easiest choice is to pick a classic, wear again, neutral color. I didnt know what your wedding colors were but i am betting your bm would love to wear black or brown. these colors are amazing with aqua and the bm feel sexy cause these colors can be that. then add aqua sashes or wraps and black, brown ,metallic or aqua shoes. cocktail dresses are also a great look, i noticed you picked a gorgeous floor length dress. my daughter is 5’2″ and a knee length dress compliments her more than a floor length. I agree with you and would highly go against a skin bearing dress unless your theme is moroccan or indian where saris are common and even then body types should be considered.
      *examples
      *more examples
      *great example
      *aqua and brown bm
TIP: even if your using other colors, just match the bm dresses to the color of tux the guys are in. i am assuming black. you dont have to incorporate this color any where else cause neutrals go with everything, just bring in pops of color for brightness in the bouquets and ribbons.

      • jennifer

my girls just wore those exact dresses and they looked great on everyone (size 4 to size 16) Don’t worry about what they want…it’s your day

    • tanya

hi toya, i really love this dress it is soooo beautiful..

Im getting married in June and my girls and i are going on sat to look for our gowns, and i have chosen for my made of honor to wear this dress, but she is a small built girl, i cant see any of my other girls in the dress because they are on the bigger side….

    • Sarah

Maybe you should just pay for the dresses.

    • Whitnie

A dress that is similar to that is Alfred Angelo 7041. It is flattering. I am using it and most of my bridesmaids are on the heavier side also.

    • Sherita

      Hi,

I love this dress where did you find it? Please contact me back because I’m getting married on April 24,2010 and I can’t find dresses either.
