The Aqua Blue Wedding

It might say beach. It might say Fifth Avenue.

Either way, the aqua blue wedding (often paired with the most classic of supporting acts, like silver, pearls and creamy roses) is a feast for the imagination ... and the eyes.

Pulling off Your Own Aqua Blue Wedding

Plenty of aqua brides stick to their beloved blue, offset with lots of crisp white and crystal. But many brides accent with more colors. Popular uptown picks include chocolate brown, platinum and soft pastel pink. Beachier combinations include orange, fuchsia or yellow. Fearless brides even pair aqua with red!

This look offers so many choices, you just need to lay claim to yours. Decide whether to "spread the wealth" with faux pearls and seashells, or swarovski crystals and platinum accents, or seashells or giant white ostrich feathers — or some other direction that's all your own.

Aqua Blue and Crystal

If you're a crystal bride, you'll sparkle in a gown with a bodice lightly embroidered with Swarovski crystals, and tuck a crystal tiara in your updo.

Then, thrill your bridesmaids with crystal hair pins or combs. Plus, place glimmering picks in your floral bouquet, or skip the blooms and bear an all-Swarovski heirloom crystal bouquet down the aisle.

Having a tent wedding? Line the marquee roof with string lights, hang clear crystal chandeliers from the center, and prop up more crystal in the form of grand candelabras topping Corinthian columns.

Then, look into the new pintucked linens with subtle metallic thread, and draw on crystal-studded placecard frames to guide your guests to their seats. Top off your cake with another tiara, circling a sweet dome of cream-colored roses.

Aqua and Platinum

Imagine crisp white roses peeking out of silver trumpet vases. Sleek silver candlesticks keep the look going, with delicate white rose petals scattered at the base. A silver monogram sets off the top of your cake. Brushed silver frames announce each table number and guest seat.

Guests tuck into a delectable meal over silver chargers, after oohing and ahhing over the generous favor box that graced their plate. While you finished up with your photos, they'd enjoyed a signature cocktail made with Blue Curacao and a jigger of pineapple juice, gussied up even more with a bright blue sugar rim.

Your gifts to your bridesmaids? Sterling-silver pendants ... and timeless silver cufflinks for the guys.

Aqua Hits the Beach

Aqua's a favorite color of beach-bound brides everywhere. Don't be afraid to pair aqua with eye-popping colors like fuchsia or coral, aubergine or pale yellow. For flowers, start with white or fuchsia orchids and super-fluffy peonies. Want to go a little wilder? How about coral roses and Pincushion Proteas, or fuchsia gloriosas.

winter 2

Aqua Goes to Paris

Take this flamboyant theme (perfect for bridal showers, too) for a spin by arranging giant ostrich feathers in tall Eiffel vases and scattering marabou feathers plus rose petals down your tables. The perfect boutonniére: a white rose, a few marabou feathers and a shiny aqua ribbon. Trés chic!

More Aqua Tips for Any Bride

A classic treatment of aqua calls for a classic flower. It's easy to lose your heart to roses in white, blush or even peach. For an elegant centerpiece, go for paveed roses arranged side-by-side in aqua wooden boxes. Or place simple posies of white and blush roses in square glass cylinders, tying them off with a blue satin ribbon.

A white and aqua candy buffet also makes a stylish statement. Try silver Hershey's kisses, blue Jordan almonds, and white amorini and conversation hearts.

Aqua Attire

David's Bridal has made suiting up for aqua easy (look for "Pool"). Popular combos for bridesmaids (again!) include ivory, pink and chocolate brown in some combination with aqua.

It bears repeating, though: aqua can be overpowering in large doses, unless you lighten it up with a splash of white. The white crinolines shown above are one gorgeous way of breaking up the color block of your bridesmaids' gowns.

Another option: confine aqua to smaller canvases, like sashes, vests, or table overlays.

Speaking of vests, the guys will look sharp in black tuxes with aqua blue ties. Look into those chocolate brown tuxedos too, which make a visually eye-popping match for chocolate brown/aqua blue bridesmaids.

Just some more helpful info…. Our gift card box was made out of a standard cardboard box that was wrapped in Tiffany Blue wrapping paper (that we got at a local party-outlet), then cut a large card-size slit in the top and wrapped it with a white bow so it matched our small candy boxes. The Tiffany Blue Sashes on the chairs were rented from a local vendor. I believe they were called “aqua”. But they matched perfectly. My advice…. start with the boxes (!) or some small, but very important and color-scheme coated item that you will be using in your decor. Then carry it with you EVERYWHERE!!! And match it with everything you please. lol. Keep in mind when ordering anything, that “Tiffany Blue” is a different color for everyone, yea, I know, crazy right?! So always be prepared with a color sample of what color you really want.

Thank you all for your sweet comments! Here are some more pictures!! All of these are from our dinner reception that we held a week after getting married (we had a destination wedding). Several of the centerpiece arrangements had a few store-bought curly sticks thrown in. We also had a “candy bar” table that you can see in the background of a picture (haven’t came across a close-up yet) We got Tiffany Blue m&m’s from Factory Card Outlet, Hershey kisses, White Jordan Almonds, and White Lifesaver Mints, that we put in glass candy jars w/ silver lids that we got at Wal-Mart for about $5! And some white chocolate mints my grandmother made that sat on silver platters. FYI, our punch bowl also sat on this table. My husband rented his vest, tie, and pocket square from Savvi Formalwear. I got my dress and my daughter’s sash (for her white dress) at David’s Bridal. The color is called “pool”. It matches Tiffany Blue exactly! This is where we got my guest book & pen also in the same color scheme. On the sign-in table, I just strung silver Christmas beads (also 75% off during aftersales) and diamond jewels (came in a box of about 50 from Wal-mart), over a white table cloth that we scrunched up on top of a single string of white Christmas lights underneath. And the lamp came from home.

And here are some more pictures. We found the boxes on Ebay. Got the ribbon from Hobby Lobby. Got silver Amorini Hearts for inside the boxes (along with a small note explaining what they were!! -They didn’t “look” edible. They looked like silver charms). We made the centerpieces. We borrowed the vases from a family friend (which saved a TON of $$ instead of renting). Stocked up on fake snow and round silver ornaments during the after-Christmas sales. And literally gathered sticks from friends and families yards (ha!) and spray painted them silver and rolled them in glitter and ice crystals. Then capped the rim with Tiffany blue ribbon. We ordered Aqua Blue cardstock online and used it as a border for the menus that we printed up on our computer on white cardstock. Then we touched up each menu with a single diamond/crystal jewel w/ adhesive back that we got in the scrapbooking section at a local store.

Here’s another picture of the centerpieces. This one was on the cake table, so it had quite a few curly store-bought limbs included, to make it stand out.

My Wedding Reception was Jan 24th 2009, and it was Tiffany blue, white, and silver themed. I frequently scouted this site and others like it looking for ideas. So to return the favor, I’m posting pictures of the decor, etc. We draped the ceilings and behind the cake table in white gossamer, which we got off stumps.com. The lanterns were bought in various places. I found the wedding cake idea online and took the pictures to a local bakery and they really did a awesome job on recreating it. The Grooms cake was my husbands idea and turned out awesome as well!!

Hi, I just uploaded some more pictures, but it says they are awaiting moderation. So I’m assuming they should show up later today possibly. We didn’t use any particular type of tree branches. We just picked up sticks off the ground and clipped them from various trees. The ones we chose were mostly small airy limbs.

I love your pictures, Courtney! Very pretty.

Please share the centerpiece idea with us. I, too, would like to see a close-up. It looks really pretty and I wanted to do a similar centerpiece - do share, please.

Any other pictures are good too.

Are you selling any of the centerpieces? If so email to: luchielle1@yahoo.com

Thanks.

Hello Ladies,

I changed wedding colors and I have some tiffany blue handstamped favor tags for sale. I will accept $45 thru Paypal for 200 tags. Much less than what I paid for them.

They are 2.2 inches long and are handstamped with the wording “Thanks so much”. They are mounted on a beautiful shimmery tiffany blue cardstock. All you have to do is punch a hole and attach your ribbon!

Please e-mail me at rstephaniejimenez@yahoo.com if you are interested.

Hi Aqua ladies! I have to share a great tote bag sale going on with one of our partners — they are clearancing a beautiful collection of full-size tote bags for $5 each until February 16th. Even a $57 aqua pet carrier is yours for $5, so time to rock your small dog  Personalizing the bags is $10 more, but if you get them unpersonalized you can literally use a $30 tote bag as your OOT bags for $5 each! Kind of impressive, no?

$5 bridal tote bag clearance sale, ENDS FEBRUARY 16 Enjoy!

Casey, this handbag offer expired, but this store is running an aggressive clearance sale where they not only have a number of items (favors, accessories, bridal shower stuff, wedding gifts) heavily discounted, but you can also use a 50% off coupon on ANY clearance item (but ONLY on those clearance items).

The 50% coupon code is clearance50 and you need to enter it into the coupon code field as you check out. The clearanced items are here:

* American Bridal Clearance Sale

I don’t see a hard end date on this, so it may be until items sell out. It looks like the handbags above are still available for now, they are no longer $5, but the free personalization now applies at the 50% off price. I also see some pretty silver placecard frames and sheer ribbon in the favors section.

Hi!
I recently had an aqua/tiffany blue and red wedding! It was so much fun and I have a few things that I am looking to get rid of. All of which were used for only two hours or not used at all!
I have 12 tiffany blue satin table runners. 8 of them are big enough to go accross a 60 in table with about 4 inches of hang on each side (about 2 yds or so) and 4 of them are big enough for an eight foot long table (3 yds long) smaller are 10″ wide and longer are 12″ inches wide. My mom sewed them and we’re selling each of the smaller runners for $4 and the longer ones for $6 a piece.
From that satin fabric we have about 2 yds left over in 2 pieces, one about 1 1/2 yds and the other 1/2 yard. If you’re interested we’re selling that for $8.
We have some unused tiffany blue ribbon. Two almost full spools of gro-grain 7/8 inch wide, one with all 18 feet, one with 16 or 17 feet. Which we will sell for $2 a spool.
We also sewed a really pretty tiffany blue satin dress for my sister, the picture doesnt show it well since she wore that sweater over it but its got an empire waist with two straps over the shoulders, plus a matching long-sleeved bolero. She’s a size medium and we’ll sell that dress w/ the bolero for $15
I also did a candy buffet and have 400 left over clear cello bags that are 4″ x 3.75″ x 10″. I’ll sell all 400 for $10.
Just send me an email at macandland@gmail.com if you’re interested and we can work something out!
I also have a bunch of awesome red stuff if anyone is interested in that!
