The Aqua Blue Wedding

It might say beach. It might say Fifth Avenue.

Either way, the aqua blue wedding (often paired with the most classic of supporting acts, like silver, pearls and creamy roses) is a feast for the imagination ... and the eyes.

How to Plan Your Own Aqua Blue Wedding

Plenty of aqua brides stick to their beloved blue, offset with lots of crisp white and crystal. But many brides accent with more colors. Popular uptown picks include chocolate brown, platinum and soft pastel pink. Beachier combinations include orange, fuchsia or yellow. Fearless brides even pair aqua with red!

This look offers so many choices, you just need to lay claim to yours. Decide whether to "spread the wealth" with faux pearls and seashells, or swarovski crystals and platinum accents, or seashells or giant white ostrich feathers — or some other direction that's all your own.

Aqua Blue and Crystal

If you're a crystal bride, you'll sparkle in a gown with a bodice lightly embroidered with Swarovski crystals, and tuck a crystal tiara in your updo.

Then, thrill your bridesmaids with crystal hair pins or combs. Plus, place glimmering picks in your floral bouquet, or skip the blooms and bear an all-Swarovski heirloom crystal bouquet down the aisle.

Having a tent wedding? Line the marquee roof with string lights, hang clear crystal chandeliers from the center, and prop up more crystal in the form of grand candelabras topping Corinthian columns.

Then, look into the new pintucked linens with subtle metallic thread, and draw on crystal-studded placecard frames to guide your guests to their seats. Top off your cake with another tiara, circling a sweet dome of cream-colored roses.

Aqua and Platinum

Imagine crisp white roses peeking out of silver trumpet vases. Sleek silver candlesticks keep the look going, with delicate white rose petals scattered at the base. A silver monogram sets off the top of your cake. Brushed silver frames announce each table number and guest seat.

Guests tuck into a delectable meal over silver chargers, after oohing and ahhing over the generous favor box that graced their plate. While you finished up with your photos, they'd enjoyed a signature cocktail made with Blue Curacao and a jigger of pineapple juice, gussied up even more with a bright blue sugar rim.

Your gifts to your bridesmaids? Sterling-silver pendants ... and timeless silver cufflinks for the guys.

Aqua Hits the Beach

Aqua's a favorite color of beach-bound brides everywhere. Don't be afraid to pair aqua with eye-popping colors like fuchsia or coral, aubergine or pale yellow. For flowers, start with white or fuchsia orchids and super-fluffy peonies. Want to go a little wilder? How about coral roses and Pincushion Proteas, or fuchsia gloriosas.

Aqua Goes to Paris

Take this flamboyant theme (perfect for bridal showers, too) for a spin by arranging giant ostrich feathers in tall Eiffel vases and scattering marabou feathers plus rose petals down your tables. The perfect boutonniére: a white rose, a few marabou feathers and a shiny aqua ribbon. Trés chic!

More Aqua Tips for Any Bride

A classic treatment of aqua calls for a classic flower. It's easy to lose your heart to roses in white, blush or even peach. For an elegant centerpiece, go for paveed roses arranged side-by-side in aqua wooden boxes. Or place simple posies of white and blush roses in square glass cylinders, tying them off with a blue satin ribbon.

A white and aqua candy buffet also makes a stylish statement. Try silver Hershey's kisses, blue Jordan almonds, and white amorini and conversation hearts.

Aqua Attire

David's Bridal has made suiting up for aqua easy (look for "Pool"). Popular combos for bridesmaids (again!) include ivory, pink and chocolate brown in some combination with aqua.

It bears repeating, though: aqua can be overpowering in large doses, unless you lighten it up with a splash of white. The white crinolines shown above are one gorgeous way of breaking up the color block of your bridesmaids' gowns.

Another option: confine aqua to smaller canvases, like sashes, vests, or table overlays.

Speaking of vests, the guys will look sharp in black tuxes with aqua blue ties. Look into those chocolate brown tuxedos too, which make a visually eye-popping match for chocolate brown/aqua blue bridesmaids.

Ok so I have a dilema, I have picked out my colors for the wedding (aqua and espresso brown) but we still don’t have a date. We have discussed either June or November of 2011? I know the colors will work for November but am worried that they won’t for June. Should I pick different colors? It’s very hard to get him to agree to a date. I have tried many times. What to do?? Help Please :D

I can ship it in a Priority Flat Rate Box for $11.40 and that will include delivery confirmation but keep in mind, it will Most Likely need to be steamed or pressed for winkles from shipping. You can email me @ cherrie2oo4@fuse.net or post on here. The Short Sleeve Jacket shown with it is also for sale, its a size 4 (fits her perfectly with being a 12/14 normal wear size) she wants to try and get at least $40 for it because she paid $50. Janice, we are having a pool blue wedding. The flowers we plan to use are all white on the tables and we were thinking of using the blue boxes instead of vases. Did you purchase your boxes from the Stellabaskets website and if so, did it match the pool or come close? If not where did you purchase the ones that you used?

        Thanks so much!

        • Janice

          Hi Laura,
I actually just wrapped some regular shoe boxes with tiffany blue paper from sophie’sfavors.com It might actually be called aqua on their site. I don’t remember but that’s where I found it. Good luck.

        • Laura

          thank you~

    • hi pamela, did you have a chance to look at the linens? i saw that your color is pool color too ,so what color you think will be the closes to the pool color? hope you got your !!!!!

For the ladies having a Tiffany Blue theme wedding or party. I have found after days of searching the web, some great sites for the aqua blue (tiffany blue) items. I ma having my daughter a Tiffany’s theme along with diamond and pearls themed sweet 16.
Here are some sites I used:
purchased aqua blue wrapping paper to wrap some nested boxes to make Tiffany look a like boxes with ribbons
    http://www.sophiesfavors.com/
http://www.orientaltrading.com/ nested boxes sizes 4inchs to 7 1/2 inchs at $1.99 each you get 4 boxes per set at that price
    http://www.mardigrasoutlet.com/ bought white pearlized beads
ebay – bought diamond shaped confetti

  11. Niqi.007

Hi guys! I’m so happy I’ve found this site… My wedding colors are aqua, bright purple and apple green…(the apple green may be used as accents; might also use lavender as accents along with it too). Does anyone have any ideas for my bridal party, favors, decorations, etc…? :? {i sorta plan to wear green shoes..} :D
Pictures or links to pictures would be great. Thank you soooo much!

    • Stacey@FavorIdeas

      Niqi,
      * look at this

I would most likely steer to aqua if it suits the skintones. it is more mellow for them and the flowers will be gorgeous against it. I would not go more than aqua/purple/green for my color scheme. Those colors are very nice but adding lavender might make it look busy. If you could give me the link or pic to your venue I would be ahapy to take a look. Also do you have a theme?

  12. Amanda Morehouse

My colors are fuschia and aqua blue. the bm dresses are gonna be the pink with the flowers having an aqua ribbon. im not sure what to do for the cake or how to handle the tables. i was thinking of a pink runner and blue favor boxes. im gonna have bright pink flowers for centerpieces that have a water activated led light in them… any ideas??

  13. Kate

Hello Ladies! I’m having an aqua blue and espresso wedding in June 2010, and am still undecided on flowers. I’m leaning toward white hydrangia, but my florist is pushing gerbera daisies. Care to share thoughts? Thanks!

    • Hey Kate,

Congratulations on the engagement and wedding! I had similar colors for my wedding as well, and I used white hydrangeas. I didn’t use real ones, but you couldn’t tell ;) I have pictures of the hydrangea centerpieces I made for my wedding at http://www.flickr.com/KaleyBaby Don’t let your florist tell you what to use because this is YOUR wedding. I used hydrangeas for sentimental reasons, but you should use whichever flower YOU like. Also, you need to choose flowers that fit your taste and the wedding’s “theme” (if that makes sense). For instance, I picture gerbera daisies to be more of a small, quaint outdoor country wedding; I guess thats because a friend of mine used those flowers for her wedding that she had on her dad’s farm. Anyway, hope this helps, and good luck making your final decision!

      -Kaley

      • Heather

You have a lot of great pictures. Do you mind telling us who the designer of the bridesmaid dresses was? I am looking for Tiffany blue dresses and it is super hard to find them.

        Thanks!

      • SHAY

Do u have any items for sale?

    • kim

      congrats!!!

Hydrangia!!!!i got married in october 2007 and my mother and mother in law carried gerber dasies.it was a sunday day wedding and the gerber’s were casual.

when i think tiffany blue and chocolate, i think rich…warm..elegant. i think hydrangia is perfect..

good luck. any decision you make will look beautiful…anyways, who cares about the flowers…they will all be looking at you!!!

    • ashley morford

same here but i ended up with football mums. they are large and same round shape as hydrangeas but dont require as much attention to keep looking great.

  22. Natasha

I am stuck ladies and hoping you’ll be able to help. I need to find somewhere that I can purchase some Tiffany Blue coloured card for our invites. We’re making our own as have designed them ourselves but I’m having a hard time finding the card. Ideally we wanted a pearlescent card in that colour but I’ll settle for the card plain if I can get the colour! It’s so frustrating and time is ticking for us.

Hope you’re all having a good time planning. I’m glad to have found this site and look forward to sharing ideas with you all.

    • Brittany

      Hi Natasha,

I used pearlescent tiffany blue cardstock for my wedding invitations in August and I have 3 packs of 50 sheets left over. They are letter size. I can email you a picture of the color if you would like.

      • Natasha

Hi Brittany, I would definitely be interested to see the colour! You could just save the day here!

I am in the UK, whereabouts are you? How much would you want for the card and do you know how much it would be to mail it to me?

By letter size, is that the same as A4 or smaller? Are your packs 50 sheets each? I need to work out how many I need. Definitely could find use for 50 though! :D

Do I need to send you an email seperately for you to be able to email me?

      • Lindsey

Do you still have your paper that you would like to sell?

        • Brittany

The paper is called metallic lagoon and is 8.5″ x 11″. I have 3 sets of 50 sheets left. Also, it is cardstock. My email is brtt15@aol.com. I posted up a picture of the invitations I made from this cardstock a while back but now I can’t find it. If you need pictures let me know. Thanks and have fun planning!

For centerpieces I purchased glass bowls, lights to light from below, some blue gravel, water fills into the bowl with fish in bowls and then some seashell floating candles above :)

View this link to see my wedding reception: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWxiCw13oDw

I was married in May 2009 – we had our reception at the aquarium – overlooking the Ohio River – beautiful. I used stargazer (sp.) lillies, white roses, and white orchids – beautiful! The centerpieces used were cylinder glass vases in the center with a floating stargazer lilly or large head rose. There were aqua beads at the bottom in some, and clear in the others. I used a submerssible light – some were tiffany blue lights, and some were clear lights. Surrounding the centerpiece were crystal stemmed votive holders with white burning votive candles inside – 3 per table. All of this sat on top of a beveled glass mirror – square with diamonds galore. Some were confetti (2 and 3 inch diamond size), others were large, chunky sized diamonds. The tables had a crisp white table linen with tiffany blue satin runners that were hand made – has silver beading drapping off each side. The tables were set beautifully with white china that sat on top of silver charger plates. We used chalvari (sp) chairs that had the same tiffany blue satin chair tie (bow tie).

This may sound like alot – you can see it in the video and see what you think.

I have many items for sale – I’ve been married 9 months now and it is so hard to depart from my treasured items. I planned and smart-bargain shopped for a solid year. I have very particular taste and I am happy to share any tricks of the trade for brides who want to plan a beautiful wedding and be smart about doing it. Let me know your thoughts – my email is luchielle1@yahoo.com.

Peace and Blessings to All! (this web-site was one of my favorites when I was planning our wedding)

  24. katie

does anyone know where i can get some pool blue tablecloths? and aqua lanterns that would match the pool blue? thanks

  25. Janice

    Hi ladies,
I’m about to be married in 3 months and guess what I found out. I’m pregnant. Shh, don’t tell anyone. I already bought my dress ages ago and now I won’t be able to wear it because in 3 months I will definitely not be able to fit into it. So I now have to sell it. It’s from David’s Bridal, size 12 but is more like a regular 10. It comes with a white ribbon sash in the waist but I aslo bought a beautiful pool sash to go wtih my tiffany theme that drapes to the floor. I also have a veil with the pool edging to go with the sash. They’re gorgeuos together. (see picture)
I paid $399 for the dress, $69 for the veil and $59 for the sash but i’m willing to sell everything for $350 since I need to buy another dress asap. If interested please email me at maybride@live.com.

  27. Meg

    Hi everyone!

We had our wedding this weekend and have a few items to sell.

I have 75 “pool” colored chair sashes for sale. They are satin and match David’s Bridal pool EXACTLY. We had a couple of left over and used them as table runners and they looked amazing. This color matches PERFECTLY with the DB color. If you are using Davids Bridal pool, you could not ask for a better color match. If you are interested, please email me.

I also have 10 floating candle bowls. They are a thick, sturdy glass and are 10 inches around at the top. I put aqua colored stones in the bottom of them and they made amazing centerpieces. If you want to buy the stones with the glasses, just let me know.

I also bought a tiara from David’s Bridal that I ended up not using. I bought it for $79. It’s brand new with tags. I have attached pics of the chair sashes and the tiara. If you need pics of the bowl just email me and let me know.

    My email address is meagank22@gmail.com.

Btw, if anyone is planning a wedding in the Little Rock, Arkansas area, I will be more than happy to recommend you to some amazing wedding vendors!

    Tiffany Wedding Decor Help!

Hey, I am having a Tiffany Blue themed wedding in July 2010 and was looking for some ideas! First I am looking for blue boxes for centerpieces….probably about 10″. Also any other decor linens, sashes, card boxes for cheap or that they want to sell, please let me know!

    Thanks!!
    Bethany

    • Kimberly R. Quesada

I am interested in buying some boxes in the tiffany blue as well, however, I couldn’t find you on facebook. Do you have a webpage or link you can send me?

  29. sheila

hi everyone… m getting married on oct ’10, i wanna ask ur opions on what would be the perfect color match for aqua blue… lemon yellow or silver… please help me :?

    • Kelli

I am doing to aqua with the brown for my wedding. Brown tuxes and the girls dresses are aqua colored.

    • KaleyBaby11

definitely silver, you want the aqua blue to be the main pop of color and lemon yellow wouldn’t allow it to be the center of attention as much as the silver would

    • I used tiffany blue, silver and white. It was elegant and beautiful. I tried other colors like coral, lemon, jade, red, fushia, lavendar – none of them worked. I am very happy about my choice.

      Good Luck!

    • Marcela

I am actually doing tiffany blue with yellow and silver accent!

    • Greta

I think the lemon yellow would be beautiful, as silver tends to be a safe choice. I am getting married in less than two months, and have chosen red as my accent color with tiffany blue. I would suggest this color if you are incredibly fashion forward and willing to do something unexpected! Also, with a fall wedding, I think a deep orange would look stunning with tiffany blue…I wish you luck :)

  30. Yessica

can any one tell me a good place to find matching tiffany blue bridesmaid and grooms men wear- the davids bridal pool blue look very light blue to me on the website ( it could look more blue green in stores) i want to match the color so it doesnt clash toghether- and does anyone have any ideas on a vintage breakfast at tiffanys style wedding ( on a budget lol)

    • KaleyBaby

      Hey Everyone,
A while back I decided to post all of my ideas I used at my Tiffany Blue wedding (which was in May) and got a huge response from everyone, so I decided to post the ideas again for the new upcoming brides to be. I am just trying to help, so please do not critique me. This is more for the brides that are DIY and on a budget like I was.

Few Ideas for the Dresses and Such:
For BM Dresses I wish I would have researched more. My girls bought dresses that I picked out, but when they came in I didn’t like them, so I had to have a seamstress alter it. But I wish I would have went to Forever21 earlier because they had Fabulous Find dresses that were called jade satin strapless dress and these dresses were the perfect shade of Tiffany Blue and only $15!!!! So look at their website, now that it is getting closer to spring to see these dresses. Also, I found bridal heels at Rack Room Shoes the other day that were just $20 (silver with rhinestones).

      Few Ideas for the Ceremony:
Hobby Lobby pretty much sponsored my wedding because all the floral and centerpieces and such came from there. Also this site called efavormart was the cheapest place for chair sashes, paper lanterns, etc… I got blue and cream silk hydrangeas from Hobby Lobby for 50% off and used these in the centerpieces and arrangements.

      Reception Ideas:
Have a menu just for kids that is very simple. This causes less waste of your good food and lower cost in catering. I had just mac and cheese and chicken fingers and not a single child complained LOL. Also I ordered ringpops from bulkfoods to put inside the favor boxes. I thought it was a cute idea to have a ring in a ring box. It was a hit!
I made my centerpieces from hydrangeas, trumpet vase, mirrors, tiffanyblue branches (spraypainted that color with Robin’s Egg Blue Spray Paint from Michael’s), and marbles. All purchased at Hobby Lobby.

For more ideas check out my flickr site at KaleyBaby. I have loads of pics on that site. I also have an idea for tiffany blue cake truffles for a cute bridal shower and for invitations. Please research a lot for wedding products, especially online because I bought so many things from online stores you have never heard of.
Well hope this helps you guys!

Kaley I’ve looked at your site a few times and just love how everything looked so amazing, great job! I was wondering if you remembered where you got the sheer fabric/tulle that was hung from the top of the tent. I’ve been searching around for some but don’t want to order the wrong shade….any help would be appreciated….Thanks so much!

Hey, I actually didn’t buy the tulle fabric that was draped in the tent. The tent company we used provided that. Im sure you could go to a few fabric stores and look for TB tulle that suits your taste. I’m sorry I couldn’t help you much with this. Feel free to ask about anything else though and maybe I can help you out more. Thanks for the inquiry and compliments! And Congratulations on the engagement!

JoAnne’s has a TON of Tiffany blue fabric right now. It came in about 6 weeks ago and its perfect. Since its with all the fashion fabric it comes in several types of fabric.

        You did an amazing job.
I am just wondering where you bought your chocolate tablecloths.

Plus I was trying to look at Hobby Lobby online but can not shop online. UGHHH cause I live in Canada.

      Hey Yessica!
I’am also doing the Tiffany blue and I used the Mermaid color from DB for bridesmaids and groomen. It’s a great match.

The pool blue actually matches perfectly.
