The Aqua Blue Wedding

It might say beach. It might say Fifth Avenue.

Either way, the aqua blue wedding (often paired with the most classic of supporting acts, like silver, pearls and creamy roses) is a feast for the imagination ... and the eyes.

How to Plan Your Own Aqua Blue Wedding

Plenty of aqua brides stick to their beloved blue, offset with lots of crisp white and crystal. But many brides accent with more colors. Popular uptown picks include chocolate brown, platinum and soft pastel pink. Beachier combinations include orange, fuchsia or yellow. Fearless brides even pair aqua with red!

This look offers so many choices, you just need to lay claim to yours. Decide whether to "spread the wealth" with faux pearls and seashells, or swarovski crystals and platinum accents, or seashells or giant white ostrich feathers — or some other direction that's all your own.

Aqua Blue and Crystal

If you're a crystal bride, you'll sparkle in a gown with a bodice lightly embroidered with Swarovski crystals, and tuck a crystal tiara in your updo.

Then, thrill your bridesmaids with crystal hair pins or combs. Plus, place glimmering picks in your floral bouquet, or skip the blooms and bear an all-Swarovski heirloom crystal bouquet down the aisle.

Having a tent wedding? Line the marquee roof with string lights, hang clear crystal chandeliers from the center, and prop up more crystal in the form of grand candelabras topping Corinthian columns.

Then, look into the new pintucked linens with subtle metallic thread, and draw on crystal-studded placecard frames to guide your guests to their seats. Top off your cake with another tiara, circling a sweet dome of cream-colored roses.

Aqua and Platinum

Imagine crisp white roses peeking out of silver trumpet vases. Sleek silver candlesticks keep the look going, with delicate white rose petals scattered at the base. A silver monogram sets off the top of your cake. Brushed silver frames announce each table number and guest seat.

Guests tuck into a delectable meal over silver chargers, after oohing and ahhing over the generous favor box that graced their plate. While you finished up with your photos, they'd enjoyed a signature cocktail made with Blue Curacao and a jigger of pineapple juice, gussied up even more with a bright blue sugar rim.

Your gifts to your bridesmaids? Sterling-silver pendants ... and timeless silver cufflinks for the guys.

Aqua Hits the Beach

Aqua's a favorite color of beach-bound brides everywhere. Don't be afraid to pair aqua with eye-popping colors like fuchsia or coral, aubergine or pale yellow. For flowers, start with white or fuchsia orchids and super-fluffy peonies. Want to go a little wilder? How about coral roses and Pincushion Proteas, or fuchsia gloriosas.

Aqua Goes to Paris

Take this flamboyant theme (perfect for bridal showers, too) for a spin by arranging giant ostrich feathers in tall Eiffel vases and scattering marabou feathers plus rose petals down your tables. The perfect boutonniére: a white rose, a few marabou feathers and a shiny aqua ribbon. Trés chic!

More Aqua Tips for Any Bride

A classic treatment of aqua calls for a classic flower. It's easy to lose your heart to roses in white, blush or even peach. For an elegant centerpiece, go for paveed roses arranged side-by-side in aqua wooden boxes. Or place simple posies of white and blush roses in square glass cylinders, tying them off with a blue satin ribbon.

A white and aqua candy buffet also makes a stylish statement. Try silver Hershey's kisses, blue Jordan almonds, and white amorini and conversation hearts.

Aqua Attire

David's Bridal has made suiting up for aqua easy (look for "Pool"). Popular combos for bridesmaids (again!) include ivory, pink and chocolate brown in some combination with aqua.

It bears repeating, though: aqua can be overpowering in large doses, unless you lighten it up with a splash of white. The white crinolines shown above are one gorgeous way of breaking up the color block of your bridesmaids' gowns.

Another option: confine aqua to smaller canvases, like sashes, vests, or table overlays.

Speaking of vests, the guys will look sharp in black tuxes with aqua blue ties. Look into those chocolate brown tuxedos too, which make a visually eye-popping match for chocolate brown/aqua blue bridesmaids.

      Hi Raven,
I made crystal trees as my centerpiece. I spray painted clear glass vases aqua, painted branches from the backyard brown and hung crystal strands from it. They look awesome. My wedding is August 7th.

    • Vash

My grandmother’s 80th b-day colors were tiffany blue, brown, and white. The table centerpieces were topiaries made with white silk mums, and placed in a white terra cotta pot (spray painted), and tiffany blue ribbon was wrapped around the stems and tiffany blue tulle was pinned down inside of the pot. I placed the arrangement on brown satin fabric. I also purchased tiffany blue silk petals and place them in a vase filled w/water and a floating candle; it was sitting on brown satin fabric(fluffed up) as well.

  2. shay

Does anyone know where I can purchase pooi blue overlays and hanging crystals for my centerpieces. My wedding is August 14th. Also in desperate need of black tablecloths 60 in round ..any suggestions

  3. Amanda Morehouse

I have 60 turquoise gerbera daisies for sale. They are new and still strapped into their packaging. 3 3/4 flower head and are 21″ long. They can be trimmed down. The flowers were supposed to be used in my centerpieces for my wedding but I ran out of time. An idea: Some I did use that are not included were cut down to 5″ in length and 5 of them ( 1 on each side and 1 on top) were placed in a 4″square vase filled with small clear marbles and 2 battery operated led lights were pushed down into the marbles. email me at asmorehouse@gmail.com if you are seriously interested. All previous responses I got last time were spammers. I paid almost 80 for them. THanks!

I am having an outdoor wedding in 2011 and am trying to pick out colors. It will be taking place at a lake (unfourtanetly not on a beach), I would love to do a Hawaiian/Beach theme. My question to you all is that both my finacee and I have been married before and my 1st wedding the bridesmaids wore teal with a beach theme (seashells, etc) do you think its weird if I were to do something like this again? I don’t want to jinx anything as obviously the last time it didn’t work out! My fav color is teal/aqua but my fiancee dosen’t like it. The wedding will be in July and I want to do bright flowers (dendrobium orchids, stargazer lilies, tiger lilies etc) but I’m not sure what color to go with (oh and I hate pink and purple) any suggestions!???
    Thanks!! :D

    • Cherlyn

      Hi H-
Well I am a very big believer on the Jinx thing, but I also understand that you Love Teal… so…. since you are wanting to do a beach theme, why dont you do like Apple Green or Orange with ACCENTS of the Teal Aqua blue color. My girlfriend is having her wedding next month and those are her colors along with pink, but you hate pink so I didnt mention that ha ha. Good Luck with it all!!

      • Stacey@FavorIdeas

        H,
I wouldnt do a wedding similar to my previous one. I would dosomething different. I would sit down with my fiancee and ask him to pick one color and you pick one color( make sure these colors compliment your location). There are many ways that you can do a beach theme, if that is what you choose to do again, with out it resembling your first wedding. What if you went with more of a mint or seafoam green this time? paired it with simple khaki and white, then using starfish in the theme. it pretty much stays within your taste, yet pulls in the beach. You could also have navy blue, mint green, white. Most guys like blue so I am betting your fiancee will like this!

  13. Schmeca

    Hi Ladies,
My wedding is 6-19-10 and my colors are aqua and ivory. I’m looking for any decorations for the reception that are aqua. I’m having a hard time finding anything aqua but alot in ivory. I don’t want the reception to be plain. Do you have any ideas??? I need them quick

    • Janice

      Hi Schmeca,
You can use chinese lanterns to hang from the ceiling if that’s allowed and you can get them from http://www.orientaltrading.com or http://www.save-on-crafts.com to name a few. Just do a google search for tiffany blue or aqua blue wedding and lots of things should come up. Good luck!

    • Angela

Hi, Im having an aqua wedding with fuschia accents and i am also having a hard time finding aqua decorations. But one thing a have found that will add alot of aqua pretty easily is AQUA Paper lanterns. You may not even like them but just an idea! Oh and we are having Aqua Jones soda for the kids…..kind of a cute idea and it adds aqua :-)

    • makaila owens

schmeca, Lots of aqua at michaels craft stores and some at hobby lobby. I also had a very hardtime finding aqua flowers. i bought white silk flowers and lightly spray painted them with a spray paint from wal-mart!the spray paint brand is: krylon. and its in the color: blue ocean breeze. they also have this spray paint at michaels but its much cheaper at wal-mart

  14. Holly

Hello ladies!!! I am in need of some help! I am getting married at the end of June and I feel like I still have so much to do. My girls are wearing pool blue and watermelon from David’s Bridal…seemed like a good idea at the time now I am not so sure. I am stuck on flowers. I was going to do it myself but I am way too overwhelmed. I thought about having the girls carry white flowers and then I would carry pink and blue flowers but I worry that the blue would clash with the pool dresses. I am looking for inexpensive ideas, I am paying for the wedding myself.

We are getting married in a garden and the reception will be inside, and there will be plenty of greenery. My ring bearer will be carried a moss covered styrofaom pillow and my guest book will be a tree drawn on a canvas which my guests will leave their thumbprint and sign there name. I could really use some ideas on some flowers.

    HELP please!!! Thank You!!!!!

    • Stacey@FavorIdeas
      • Stacey@FavorIdeas

        Holly,
I think I would do pink flowers. keep it simple and elegant. Usually in a garden wedding you look at the florals that will be in bloom and pink is almost in every garden.

        * look at this
        *real wedding

    • Angela

      Hi,
I am doing something similar but my colors are Aqua and fushia! I thought it was really cute at first but then started thinking twice about it. I also had a hard time finding the right flowers. But, Gerbera daisies are a really easy way to find the colors you need in a flower. Here is a pic of a boquet with gerbera daisies and white roses……maybe not the exact color but i think its super cute! And even if you had the bridesmaids with white gerbera daisies, you can always add color with the ribbon!

    • makaila owens

holly i just happened to tell schmeca what i did for flowers. it was actually really cheap. I bought the white flowers from dollar tree and a couple cans of spray paint from walmart.blue ocean breeze its works wonderfully! I just used a really light coat so that it would be more pool than blue!

  15. Liz in IL

Ok so we have moved our date to November 5th, 2011 and ours colors are aqua(pool blue) and chocolate brown. I am in need of a flower girl dress, she’s a 2T-3T. My bridesdmaids’ dresses will be the chocolate brown and my junior bridesmaid is going to be aqua, not sure what to do for the flowergirl yet? Any suggestions?? Colors of the dress? White? Brown? Aqua?

    • Liz

Our Flower girls are going to match my dress, our ring bearers will my the groom. They will be our minimes.

    • Jessica

My wedding is June 5th and I had a beautiful flower girl dress made. I’d say it’s 4 or 5T (it fits my just turned 5 niece). I will post it up on here after my wedding if you’re interrested… Keep a look out. I’ll be posting many other things too.

  16. Liz

Our colors are Tiffany Blue and Chocolate. We are having a victorian garden wedding in June. I thought I would post a few of pics that I had to share. The first are flower girl baskets, we bought the baskets, ribbon and cameo appliques and sewed them all together. The second is a picture of our center pieces. Again we bought the vases, ribbon, cameos and silver backs and glued them all together. The last is a bridesmaids dress that my mom made. It’s one of 3 styles my 5 bridesmaids are wearing. The others styles are halter and cap sleeve. All have the same band around the middle and balloon hem. Each girl got to pick their own top since they are all built so differently. I’ll post more picks as things come along. I’ll post my invites and garter I made and sheperds poles with tin pails next.

    • Liz

Here is our invitation. I got them at Michael’s but added the blue ribbon and pearl. They came with a brown quad fold envelope and RSVP cards. We bought ivory envelopes also. We embossed all the envelopes with tiffany blue ink.

    • Anna B.

WOW I’m so in love with those flower girl baskets… and every thing else!

      • Liz

Thanks they only took a few minutes to make and cost less that $15 each to make.

    • Liz

I used an aqua colored glitter spray and sprayed white flowers. They cost about $8 each to make with hook, pail, flowers, and the foam inside. I already had the spray from other things.

  17. Bethany

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to get cheap tiffany blue wrapping paper? I saw it for $12 a roll, but not any cheaper.

    Thanks,
    Bethany

    • Jessica

I saw some at Hallmark last week! :)

    • Jessica

Target has a turquoise roll for $2.99 that looks pretty darn close! I got boxes at hobby lobby and am stacking them 3 high for my card box/wishing well.

  18. tina

i am also having pool blue accents but with black bridesmaid dresses and also thinking sunflowers, would love some input with anything or pics

    • Stacey@FavorIdeas

      Tina,
I made you a wedding board based on your colors. I went with an Italian Theme in the board just as an idea to bring the colors together and really let the sunflowers shine. it has a modernish twist too in the wedding dress etc. Iwas showing you how fantastic the colors play off each other with the black.

  19. Cherlyn

Hey girls. Well Unfortunately we have had a family event take place that is having to make us cancel our wedding for this August. Yeah, huge bummer, but there is just no way to financially pay off the rest of our balances to vendors with whats taken place. Because of this, we are trying to sell whatever items we have bought for the wedding that we dont HAVE to keep for whenever the wedding is rescheduled for 2012. So, I am selling my custom made Bridal Party SILK Flowers Set.

    The Set includes:

    1- Bridal Bouquet

    1- Maid of Honor Bouquet

    4- Bridesmaid Bouquet

1- Tossing Bouquet (also known as a juniors bouquet in size)

5- Corsages (these were going to be for the women – moms, grandmas, etc..)

    1- Grooms Boutineer

    5- Groomsman Boutineers

5- Men Boutineers (for fathers, grandpas, etc…)

    4- Usher Boutineers

    Total of 27 Pieces

I paid $700 this past October to have these custom made by for my wedding.

The tips of the roses match Davids Bridal Pool Blue and the petals are a light aqua (sky) blue. There are also White Roses in the bouquets, corsages, and grooms boutineer as shown in pictures. Along with white ribbon accents and royal blue accents (this could be removed and have another ribbon added. Those are just our accent colors planned in the wedding.)

I am asking $500 for the set. Local Pick Up is preferred so that you can verify you like the colors in person. I live in Union, KY 41091. These can be purchased and paid for thru PayPal and Shipped (shipping extra) but All Sales Are Final, I will not take Returns on these.

I have more photos that I can email, but the site only allows 3 to be uploaded. Photo 1 is the Bouquets, Photo 2 are what the women Corsages look like (these pin on), Photo 3 is the Grooms Boutineer (the one with two roses), and a picture of one of the other men boutineers.

If interested you can email me at cherrie2oo4@fuse.net

    Thanks.

    • Cherlyn

hey sorry the pictures didnt load up in the order that I attached them. Photo 1 is what the women corsages look like, photo 2 is the grooms and one of the mens boutineers, and photo 3 is the bouquets. thanks.

    • Liz

We got our at Michael’s too. They’ve add a ton in the past few weeks too as far as deign and color. Sign up for their weekly ad and you get 40% off coupons. We got 90 invites for $72 plus tax. Hey ladies!

I seriously need to get rid of my floating candle bowls and stones! I have attached a few pictures. They make wonderful centerpieces for brides on a budget! If you are interested please send me an email – meagank22@gmail.com.
