The Aqua Blue Wedding

It might say beach. It might say Fifth Avenue.

Either way, the aqua blue wedding (often paired with the most classic of supporting acts, like silver, pearls and creamy roses) is a feast for the imagination ... and the eyes.

Pulling off Your Own Aqua Blue Wedding

Plenty of aqua brides stick to their beloved blue, offset with lots of crisp white and crystal. But many brides accent with more colors. Popular uptown picks include chocolate brown, platinum and soft pastel pink. Beachier combinations include orange, fuchsia or yellow. Fearless brides even pair aqua with red!

This look offers so many choices, you just need to lay claim to yours. Decide whether to "spread the wealth" with faux pearls and seashells, or swarovski crystals and platinum accents, or seashells or giant white ostrich feathers — or some other direction that's all your own.

Aqua Blue and Crystal

If you're a crystal bride, you'll sparkle in a gown with a bodice lightly embroidered with Swarovski crystals, and tuck a crystal tiara in your updo.

Then, thrill your bridesmaids with crystal hair pins or combs. Plus, place glimmering picks in your floral bouquet, or skip the blooms and bear an all-Swarovski heirloom crystal bouquet down the aisle.

Having a tent wedding? Line the marquee roof with string lights, hang clear crystal chandeliers from the center, and prop up more crystal in the form of grand candelabras topping Corinthian columns.

Then, look into the new pintucked linens with subtle metallic thread, and draw on crystal-studded placecard frames to guide your guests to their seats. Top off your cake with another tiara, circling a sweet dome of cream-colored roses.

Aqua and Platinum

Imagine crisp white roses peeking out of silver trumpet vases. Sleek silver candlesticks keep the look going, with delicate white rose petals scattered at the base. A silver monogram sets off the top of your cake. Brushed silver frames announce each table number and guest seat.

Guests tuck into a delectable meal over silver chargers, after oohing and ahhing over the generous favor box that graced their plate. While you finished up with your photos, they'd enjoyed a signature cocktail made with Blue Curacao and a jigger of pineapple juice, gussied up even more with a bright blue sugar rim.

Your gifts to your bridesmaids? Sterling-silver pendants ... and timeless silver cufflinks for the guys.

Aqua Hits the Beach

Aqua's a favorite color of beach-bound brides everywhere. Don't be afraid to pair aqua with eye-popping colors like fuchsia or coral, aubergine or pale yellow. For flowers, start with white or fuchsia orchids and super-fluffy peonies. Want to go a little wilder? How about coral roses and Pincushion Proteas, or fuchsia gloriosas.

winter 2

Aqua Goes to Paris

Take this flamboyant theme (perfect for bridal showers, too) for a spin by arranging giant ostrich feathers in tall Eiffel vases and scattering marabou feathers plus rose petals down your tables. The perfect boutonniére: a white rose, a few marabou feathers and a shiny aqua ribbon. Trés chic!

More Aqua Tips for Any Bride

A classic treatment of aqua calls for a classic flower. It's easy to lose your heart to roses in white, blush or even peach. For an elegant centerpiece, go for paveed roses arranged side-by-side in aqua wooden boxes. Or place simple posies of white and blush roses in square glass cylinders, tying them off with a blue satin ribbon.

A white and aqua candy buffet also makes a stylish statement. Try silver Hershey's kisses, blue Jordan almonds, and white amorini and conversation hearts.

Aqua Attire

David's Bridal has made suiting up for aqua easy (look for "Pool"). Popular combos for bridesmaids (again!) include ivory, pink and chocolate brown in some combination with aqua.

It bears repeating, though: aqua can be overpowering in large doses, unless you lighten it up with a splash of white. The white crinolines shown above are one gorgeous way of breaking up the color block of your bridesmaids' gowns.

Another option: confine aqua to smaller canvases, like sashes, vests, or table overlays.

Speaking of vests, the guys will look sharp in black tuxes with aqua blue ties. Look into those chocolate brown tuxedos too, which make a visually eye-popping match for chocolate brown/aqua blue bridesmaids.

My bridesmaids are wearing tiffany blue knee length dresses with white sashes. Does anyone have any suggestions on what the Mother’s should wear? I know their outfits should complement, but im not sure what color they should wear. Also, any suggestions on how to differentiate the MOH, or is that even necessary?

Thanks!

jessica,
the moh can dress same, similar, or different. you make make subtle changes to the sash color or the bouquet. overall, if you have her wear the same dress, i would have her bouquet be a tad different, an added flower or flower color, bouquet ribbon color. the mothers could wear a deeper shade of blue or a deeper champagne(as long as you are not wearing champagne) she can also choose to wear a classic neutral. whatever she chooses just make sure she feels beautiful, confident, and it looks great with her body and skintone.
*what does a mother wear and wedding ( google search results so you can thumb through tips)

Here is one example of a good Tiffany Blue bridesmaid dress: strapless satin

I actually bought this dress for myself, and it was almost identical to my bridesmaids’ dress except theirs had a slight flare out at the bottom. Also I have found this one which is more casual and great for an outdoor or beach wedding: gathered strapless knit dress

Another example of a sophisticated Tiffany Blue dress that is figure flattering for almost any bridesmaid is ruched knit dress. I’m sure there are more examples out there, but you just have to look. Why have your bridesmaids pay so much for a dress they don’t like or won’t wear again when they can pay just $20 a wear it over and over again. Thats a gift to them in itself.

Tiffany Blue/Aqua Chair Sashes

Hi all, I have 33 tulle chair sashes left (10 out of aqua sparkly tulle and 23 out of tiffany blue nonsparkly tulle). Because I couldn’t find the right shade, we ended up buying fabric and making them ourselves - we mixed and matched. Email me if you are interested: anchik0828@yahoo.com

Perfect for a small wedding!

Hey Everyone,
I thought I would share some good tips since I just had my wedding in May. Hobby Lobby pretty much sponsored the whole wedding. They have half off on ribbons, wedding and floral stuff every other week. And if they don’t have all the amount that you want you just go ahead and pay for it, and they will give you a rain check until it comes in. I had to do that on alot of things. We actually got our program paper from there for half off. Also, spray paint will be your best friend in doing projects, and Michaels has the perfect shade of TB called Robins Egg Blue spray paint.
As for chair sashes, efavormar has those and favor boxes and much more if you would like to buy those in your colors. They have table linens, chair covers, and other stuff too if you are interested in those. They are by far the cheapest and have great quality products.
Also if your bridesmaids are penny pinching too, forever21 has tons of tiffany blue dresses for them. I wish I would have done that for my girls because I found a dress that was almost identical to theirs for $20 at http://www.forever21.com versus them buying the $150 one. Their fabulous finds dresses are really cheap. The fab teal satin strapless dress is just $14.50, but doesn’t look it by no means. It was identical to the $150 bridesmaid dress my girls wore!
The bar I used was a plain table with a tiffany blue sheer fabric for the table cloth and on the inside of the fabric I placed white Christmas lights to drape off the sides to give a good visual effect. The bar lighting was a lamp from Target called a silver disc table lamp (just giving the name if you wanna search it). It also comes in black, and its only $20 and gives off plenty of light.
If you are serving alcohol, we used 2 kegs and 16 bottles of wine for 150 people and it was almost all gone. We used cheap $5 wine called Foxhorn Vineyards wine and we used its Chardonnay and White Zinfandel. People actually liked it so that was good for the price.
If you haven’t bought any bridesmaid or groomsmen gifts yet, I got my bridesmaids a pink engraved flask, and my husband bought his boys an engraved pocket knife. We got them off this website that sold great inexpensive gifts. All the flasks I was looking at were $25 and up, and these were $16 a piece including the engraving! The knives were $13 including engraving, but they looked so much more expensive then that! They have tons of other stuff too.
Pink Flask: http://www.rumors.com/princessflask.html

Pocket Knives: http://www.rumors.com/stainless-pocket-knife.html

I made my own tiffany money box, bouquets, favors, and such to save money and get it done the way I wanted it. Do not be fooled into buying those tiffany money boxes that cost so much money. It’s crazy and ridiculous how much of a rip off it is. We just ordered plain 3 tier paper mache box set online, spray painted it TB with the spray paint from Michaels that I talked about earlier, and bought white ribbon to make a bow on the top and cascade the rest down the sides, and cut a hole to fit cards and money in the middle tear. Also we added a glue on Monogram B rhinestone to it, and a big fake diamond ring on the top to give it a little something extra. Much cheaper than buying pre-made ones. Also the bouquets were easy by buying cream hydrangeas, ribbon, rhinestone bouquet inserts, and pins from Hobby Lobby to put together to make those. Centerpieces were also easy if you want instructions for those. Some of these items are also for sale if anyone is interested please contact me at hunterbates@yahoo.com. I am trying to put a website up to put all my wedding pictures up. I have much more ideas but don’t wanna list them all in one setting so please feel free to email me with questions. Congratulations to all you brides by the way!

Oh I forgot a cute idea for a favor box is to go to efavormart and get their personalized 2 piece favor boxes and buy white ribbon to tie around it, but the best part is to go to BulkFoods to buy ring pops in bulk to place inside of it. The kids and adults loved it! A ring in a tiffany ring box that you can eat. I must say these were snatched up very quickly once everyone figured out what was in them. So give a twist on a favor box and give your guests something they will actually enjoy instead of almonds. Also personalized M&M’s are a cute idea. I forgot that we also made the cake stand too if anyone is interested in that. Plus I got rave reviews on the fact I had a kids bar. Not the candy bar because I didn’t want 30 hyper kids at my wedding, but a food bar just for them. Saves you money by not having kids waste food that you paid so much for, so we asked our caterer to make chicken fingers and mac and cheese for the kids. Everyone, especially the parents, were happy to know the kids had something good to eat and didn’t have to hit up McDonalds after the wedding. I could leave comments all day on this wedding stuff.

My centerpieces were actually those huge trumpet vases with marbles, tiffany blue branches, and hydrangeas. The box is my tiffany card box. My parents bought that online. Just type in paper mache 3 tier box set or something like that and tons of places should pop up. Then you can pick and choose based on price and size to fit what you want and spray paint them with the spray paint from Michael’s (robin egg blue). Thanks for the comments. I’m glad I could help! Just wish I would have gotten one of those dresses for my girls, I’m sure they would have wished that too.

Hello aqua brides!! I have seen a lot of questions about David’s Bridal pool. I am using both pool and mermaid from David’s for my girls. I let them each choose their own dress and that’s why we had to mix in both colors. 3 with be in mermaid and 3 in pool. Also by using both colors, I really don’t have to worry about color matching because it can go either way! YAY! Here are some pictures that may possibly help. The David’s Bridal site’s colors are way off on the computer screen. The first dress is pool and the next is mermaid. I also took a picture of one of my boxes from Tiffany’s just to compare colors.

All of our wedding party gifts were wrapped in tiffany blue paper with white ribbon and huge bows.

The ladies received tiffany and company jewelry in tiffany and company bags.

Hello. I have stacked boxes that need to be wrapped. The boxes are perfect as they have lids and are very sturdy. I have discovered a tiffany blue wrapping paper from Nashville Wraps too.

These boxes can be nestled together for shipping. Asking $30 for all of them - they will make at least 25 centerpieces with 3 stacked boxes per each. I will take a photo and send it.

Hope this helps.

My colors are tiffany blue and white and I’m using the “pool” color dresses from David’s as well, they seemed to be the closest. I carry a color swatch on me at all times to make sure things match as I’m buying them…all “tiffany blues” are definitely not the same.

David’s Bridal pool is not true tiffany blue. I was crazy about making certain my items were tiffany blue and matched. While it is impossible to make absolutely everything match, I think I came pretty close.

The men’s tuxes were from Men’s Warehouse. They are a match to David’s Bridal’s colors. Well, when we were settling on colors for the tuxes, we were going to use black because the pool was not a match to our girls’ true tiffany blue dresses.

What a Surprise! They were getting in a color called MERMAID in late March/Early April that ended up being a PERFECT MATCH to our previously purchased decor items and the tiffany blue bridesmaids’ dresses.

Go check out David’s new color: MERMAID and tell me what you think.

Have a Good Day : )

Hi. I LOVE this site and have used it over the year while planning my wedding. I have found it to be a great resource and a place to get great information from other brides!

I have just had the most spectacular wedding day May 24, 2009)! I have lots of leftover items for sale.

I have chair sashes (220), table runners (20), candle holders, candles, flower girl baskets (3), table numbers in silver frames, glass bowl centerpeices with chunky diamonds and submersible lights to go in them, ribbon, bubbles, bells, tiffany petals and white petals, and much more.

You can see some pictures at http://www.weddingbycolor.com/imthebride2009

Anyone interested can email me at: luchielle1@yahoo.com

I will post some pictures later here too.

Best Wishes to All!

Hey ladies!
I just got married a few weeks ago, and am selling some of my leftover stuff from my aqua/tiffany wedding!
I have 49 clear plastic favor boxes tied with aqua ribbon with Hershey’s kisses inside. (I will take the candy out if you don’t want it), asking $20 for those (I bought the kit to make the boxes for 19.99 for 50, and added the ribbon myself).
I also have 80tiny, tiered boxes with a little post-it note pad in the bottom tier, already assembled, asking $30 for those.
I used silk teal petals scattered on my tables, and I have a gallon size ziploc bag of those ($5), and 76 bubble tubes-$15 (61 already have the ribbon tied on, and 15 do not). I have 12 silver trays ($60) that I used as my centerpieces, with 12 ‘bubble vases’ ($6)to go with them (also already have teal ribbon tied around the neck, and have been washed out). I put a white hydrangea in each one, and scattered aqua pebbles around, which are also for sale for $20.
I am in the Richmond, VA area and I am willing to meet you somewhere to pick up the items, also willing to ship the lighter items (not the pebbles!).

Hi there!
My sister lives in Leesburg, VA, and, being the good MOH that she is, I’m sure she’d pick up whatever I needed :) LoL. I’m interested in the tiered notepads (are they the ones that say “Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed…” on them? I saw similar ones on ebay). Also… if you could email me pictures of some of the other things, I may just take it all :) I’m planning an Aug 2010 wedding and want to get a head start and try to save myself some $ in the process.

Let me know!
