A Fantasy Fairy Tale Wedding

Royalty and romance: aren't these at the heart of every union?

It's no wonder that the fairytale wedding — also known as "Happily Ever After" or "Dreams Do Come True," to name just two — never goes out of fashion.

Spotlight on the Princess Bride

Walking down the aisle to a fantasy wedding theme means that as this type of bride, you can go all out.

That might mean a voluminous ballgown from Lazaro or Mary's Bridal Princess Collection, complete with petticoat ... or a design modeled after a particularly beloved princess from Kirstie Kelly for Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings.

But even when the gown is an A-line with a sleeker silhouette, fairytale brides usually go for a substantial veil, floor-length or longer.

The, the hair's often a half or full updo, but formally styled, dripping with romantic ringlets. And the shoes? Never an afterthought, they're something deliciously feminine, strappy and sparkly (though you can even walk down the aisle in clear 'glass' slippers).

And if you want the full-out princess look, straight from the pages of an oversized storybook? Add opera-length gloves, a tiara and a sparkly rhinestone choker.

Dressing The Royal Retinue

Bridesmaids, as often as not, are wearing something with at least at a touch of pink! A string of pearls makes a treasured gift for each of your girls.

But what about the men? American grooms find it hard to look past the usual black tux, which fortunately looks stunning next to a princess bride. But a white tuxedo has a bit more fairytale flavor, and it's well worth considering.

After all, no man one wants to look like a fashion victim fresh from prom, but Calvin Klein and Jean Yves Formalwear offer some elegant choices that just might put to rest any Prince Charming's qualms about style faux pas.

The Honour Of Your Presence Is Requested ...

Just because you're having a fairytale wedding doesn't mean your invites need to sport castles, but they should be something special. Just choose an elegant, timeless font and style (letterpress is always a gorgeous option). Or go custom: you can never go wrong with beautiful ribbon to wrap up a made-just-for-you pocketfold design, with a few quality rhinestones placed by hand.

Setting the Scene

pink fairytale ballroom decor with balloons Like other fantasy weddings, the fairytale wedding starts with draping, and lots of it: draped walls, head tables, cake tables, sweetheart tables, you name it. Luxurious linens are the name of the game.

In addition, this theme pretty much determines where you'll hold the reception: a ballroom. (Unless, that is, you're lucky enough to be able to book an actual castle, or live near one of America's castle-style buildings.)

Fortunately, a good ballroom will do some of the decorating work for you: look for regal curtains, dramatic molding and sparkly chandeliers.

A fairytale wedding is not the place for humble, easy-to-talk across centerpieces. Here, you need the drama that only height and heft provide. Go for towering eiffel vases filled with dramatic fantasy foral arrangements, leggy topiaries, or tall clear cylinders wrapped in satin ribbon and filled with floating candles.

Other ingredients in your toolbox: lots of silver (candelabras, silver cake plateaus), plenty of pinks, classical symbols (swan or double-swan ice sculptures are perfect here), and pearl or rhinestone accents as brooches or bouquet ornaments.

Also: sparkling monogrammed cake toppers, whimsical "I DO" letters for the cake table, and buckets and buckets of rose petals. Plus, every princess bride needs a really cute card box, whether it be a magic pumpkin or a sassy hot-pink hat box. A giant Storybook guest book would be a cute touch, too.

Roses for a Rose

crystal fairytale cake topper Flowers for fairytale weddings tend to the traditional side.

Occasionally you'll see exotic orchids, but mostly what fairytale brides prefer (in bouquets, especially) are classical choices like roses, peonies and stephanotis. If carrying a hand-tied bouquet, she might have crystal bouquet picks, or choose the larger cascading style.

Plenty of flowers are key for pulling off the fairytale look, but don't overlook the important of candles for setting the mood. Keep them simple, but group large masses together for maximum effect. Floating candles in clear cylinders offer more of a visual punch than regular votives.

A Fashionable Entrance

Drama's essential to a fantasy wedding, so plot out your high points. Find a way to make a grand entrance at the ceremony or reception: a spiral staircase and spotlighting, page boys, or a trumpeter. Take the time to learn a romantic waltz with your Prince Charming and throw in a few stylistic surprises, so all eyes stay glued to you through your first dance.

Outfit your guests with beautiful paper cones they can use to shower you with rose petals as you leave the church (another popular choice is sparklers). Travel from church to reception venue via horse-drawn carriage ... or even pumpkin carriage, available in a few metro areas.

A Royal Repast

Fortunately for your guests, Cinderella food means elegant 'comfort food': cream sauces, poached mushrooms and wine. Consider Oysters Rockefeller, and a roast beef carving station. For a touch of the country squire, serve crispy roast duck or Cornish game hens, and plenty of champagne.

The Sweet Strains of Love

A bit of intimate floor music will really set the mood, so see about booking a harpist or string quartet, at least during the ceremony or dinner. Later on, ask the DJ to queue up a few songs from Disney's Cinderella or Beauty and the Beast soundtrack albums. Other soundtracks with tunes worth a spin: The Princess Bride, Shrek, Anna & The King, and Ever After: A Cinderella Story.

Terryann,
For the cake topper or guest table, you could have the enchanted rose ( diy with a glass dome and wood base, at most craft stores) then in bottom drill a hole and set a very nice red silk rose, it will look like it is suspended in air. beauty and the beast wedding invitations would set the theme very nicely. or a beauty and the beast motif program in black and white on each place setting. candle sticks or candelabras for centerpieces would be perfect. a guilded silver frame with paper reading Be our Guest (using old world font ). First dance could be to tale as old as time song. i hope these ideas help!!

Our wedding isn’t until August 28, 2010. Are colors are royal blue, silver and white. I would love to have a princess wedding but he really wants royal blue. Any ideas on how to pull it together. We do not have a ball room close to us at an affordable rate so we will be decorating a banquet room at our community center which is nice and new but not close to a ball room.

Our ceremony will take place outside either inside or next to a white gazebo.

Madison,

Don’t worry. There is no reason why you can’t use royal blue, silver and white in a princess wedding. After all, royal blue is a “Royal” color. The silver will be a great coordinating color that will give you the dazzle you are looking for.
Also, don’t worry so much about having an actual ballroom…how you decorate it will determine the feel in the end.

I am having a Cinderella wedding in June 2011 in our church. It’s very modern (office like), not the pretty old steeple type of church). My attire will make the scene. It is my third marriage; however it is my first wedding ceremony. I found a perfect Cinderella style white dress (no train) with tiffany (baby) blue ribbon & stones. I am only wearing one (1) glass (vinyl slipper) down the isle (where I’ll gleefully prance down alone) My Prince will meet me at the altar and sit me down on the step to place the other slipper on my foot. (Kiss me & ask me to marry him) He will be wearing a white tux with silver accents. Our best men & brides maids will wear black & silver with a touch of tiffany or royal blue. My twin teenaged boys are wearing black Dockers, black dress shirts and silver vests while blowing silver trumpets to announce our arrival to the reception as we roll in to the reception hall (banquet room) on a horse drawn carriage. See it’s not where you have it or the colors that make it a princess wedding; it is how you decorate and play it out. I hope this helps. Wishing you a Beautiful Fairy Tale Princess Wedding!

Julie

Hello! I am having a fairy tale wedding in July of 2010. My so far are red, white, and silver. I am thinking of decorating my reception in mostly white and silver with hints of red. I’m at a loss for bouquets, table set ups, and how to decorate my cake. I have carriages with flameless candles as centerpieces, but that is it so far. It is going to be an outside wedding in a garden type setting. Thanks!

krysta,
i love the idea of decorating the reception in white and silver. i would go with simple white table linens, silverware, silver runners(optional) etc. can i see your centerpieces? i might be able to find a way for you to incorporate red roses in them. i made you a board, just to show you some ideas. these centerpieces are tall but i couldnt find the idea i wanted so i ran with it. i didnt know what color the bm dresses would be so i used grey.

Yes, my fiancee is a huge Ohio State Buckeye fan, so I let him pick the colors… and that was his pick. I wanted the Cinderella theme, so I tried to figure out a way to incorporate them together. I thought silver and white would make it more “dreamy”. The bridesmaid dresses we picked out are just simple black empire waist dresses, with a removable red sash… very classy. I wanted something that wasn’t so dressy they would never be able to wear again, and also something that they could wear to our reception, which I have another simpler dress for, and not be more dressed up than me. For the bouquets I picked a single white rose “wand” wrapped in red satin and pearls so far, I just thought it would keep things simple. I’ve attached my carriage centerpiece. It’s not finished yet, but it will give you an idea of what it will look like. There is a flameless candle in the center to add some extra light outdoors. I plan on having lots of twinkle lights and the flameless candles since we will be in a garden area with not much light.

krysta, from what i could tell the carriage is fairly nice size. you said it wasnt finished yet? do you have more embellishment? you could always have red roses peeking out from under the carriage or a lush handful of red rose petals to sit on. i would take small roses and greenery around the candle and having it flowing out like here…

angie,
what did you think about the site i gave you? would that go inthe direction you were thinking? what would you say to a enchanted forest theme, its very fairytale and fits perfect with cinderella. i am thinking candelabra centerpieces like in a castle, have a cinderella castle cake, around the room have urns full of fall leave branches like in pic above, dont use the oranges and reds, instead use mauves, golden yellow, the muted fall leaf colors. candles everywhere. on each place setting, take mini pumpkins and sugar them just as you would any other fruit. or buy fake shimmery pumpkins, now that fall is coming, i am starting to see them everywhere. have the fake leaf garlands trailing up the base of candelabra. with the pumpkins and a few scattered leaves on table. now, for place cards have them pumpkin or cinderella slipper shaped. this template should be easy to find online and very diy!! be sure to use old world font for a more “castle” writing. make a diy “hear ye hear ye” scroll and stand it up by a towering cake. have a saying thanking your guests for attending.
Hear Ye Hear Ye
We, Mr.and Mrs. couple,
hereby thank you for the honor
of your presence at our wedding.
the more simple you keep the words and larger print a traffic jam wont happen. it will flow smoothly.

angie,
thank goodness i found this again!! do you see the rose petals on the floor against the white and green palette? this is what i mean by using those muted fall colors( th emore roses and golds tone, with subtle shades of sages etc.
i think you just might like this look, you could axe the table runner. but this is the fallish colored look i had in mind!! its sooooo romantic and VERY royal looking!! i love the way they used all green in the stands. it really made all else look super elegant. i do hope you go in this direction. a few shimmery pumpkins would look righ tat home with this!! simple rosy desert colors.
* BEAUTIFUL pic
( make sure you look at the closeup shots)

*more of the gorgeous

this way you could pull in the fall colors EXCEPT with the roses and you could add a few leaves but wouldnt have too. the roses would give the vibe you want. add a few leaves to the bouquets instead. i got my fingers crossed that you might love this look. you could have the green centerpieces on your table (low or tall) it would look like it did back then, people picking what was available. then add scattered rose petals in these colors up and down the tables. add votives. they wouldnt confuse your scheme then!! big smile!! especially with the leaves only the bouquets then youwouldnt be worrying about it being too much. scour flea markets and second hand shops for silver vases. let me know what you think!!

Are you located overseas? If not, Hobby Lobby sells the eiffel vases and feathers-and they have sales very often and the 40% off coupon. Otherwise, check you local florists. Ours has the vases to rent. Other option, check Maybe someone in your area would have some for sale or to rent. I had found some locally that way as well. Good luck! Hope that helps.

Hey there, came across your site. I was reading through it trying to get some ideas. I am pretty lost as to what to do for anything with a wedding. I did although ‘kind’ of pick out my colors. I was wondering if you could give me some tips from there? If you have the time of course ^^. I am hoping to have a ‘cheap’ fairy tale wedding with the colors pretty basic: Black, White and a hint of pink. Not really a Hot pink but a bold enough pink that it does clash out. If you could give me any hints as to what to start with that really would be great help and I sure would appreciate it! My wedding isn’t until March, 2011. But I’d rather get started sooner rather then later lol I am really bad at being a last minute person.

stephanie,
keep all your flowers in one color in one type to simplify it even more. pink roses would be my choice or a fluffy pink flower like peonies( they are soooo gorgeous) they are usually a expensive flower but in your local area or try fiftyflowers.com they have entire collections for one price. it only takes one of these beauties in simple glass bowls surrounded with votives to make a presentation or have long stem peony in a tall slender vase. one key is using the pink flowers to add a more lush look to the black and white scheme. candles are seriously inexpensive and since your getting married in 2011, you can actually spread out everything. having the bridal party in black ( guys and girls) is a superb idea!! they can wear it again, it is great on all body types, it is just practical. another idea is to hang lush peonies or roses from clear fishing line or ribbon and suspend over tables( if your venue has low ceilings or is outdoors) the effect is really magical. it could take the place of floral centerpieces too, just have candles on the tables sprinkled with rose petals. you can also choose to have a pearl like theme too. have tall cylinder vases with pearls at bottom of vase and floating candle or flower. overall one of my fave choices is the cylinder vases filled with colored water (using food dye) or floralytes( google search and google image for a look)

the pages are a little slow loading but well worth it, this is a very pretty wedding. in your colors. i hope this gives you a bunch of ideas cause it is perfect!! it has that simple elegance fairytale look, to me… in a nutshell….it just looks like a true love; a fairytale kind of love. it doesnt have all those xtra details, its refreshing. i love it and the black and white striped ribbon.
*real wedding pics

want a little more glam? simply add pearl stems to your florals. thats it!! even more fairytale? have white invites with a cinderella carriage and horses printed in black at top. then carry this onto your programs etc. or use elegant monograms and calligraphy font, you dont need xtra details to make it look fairytale, just upgrade the look( not necessarily the price) the things you will already need for your wedding, example other than the ink and font. your cake, order a simple white confection nothing pricey and add fresh pink flowers in masses( large head roses will work and you wont need as many as you think, keep carnations out of contact with food, not a good combo) take a simple white pearlized ribbon and wrap around each cake tier, top with pink roses and greenery. add pearl stems( local craft store or saveoncrafts.com be sure to check out this site you will find abundance of inexpensive stuff) just look for inexpensive items that have that million dollar look. your cake knife, buy a simple plain cake knife and add an upgraded ribbon and have it more flowing. some add real roses this is an option too. just secure them on the handle with floral wire. no flowers? go to a craft store and buy a simple rhinestone monogram with a loop to thread ribbon through, add it in a out of the way place on the knife and let it hang down like a charm, it will sparkle and look chic. it just takes thinking out of the box a little and diy ideas.
i was at walmart wedding section the other day, they really have some pretty stuff, and martha stewart has partnered with them. check out marthastewartweddings.com for ideas too. she is one of my faves. her and her team is amazing!!
dont forget tulle, it has amazing etheral quality for CHEAP! think the armageddon movie ( check out the wedding decor at end of movie)

Hi Stacey!

I’m planning on having a FAIR-y-tale wedding(hence the last name Fair), in early Sept. 2010. I’m thinking plum and mint/light green with a little bit of silver for a sparkle effect. What do you think? We haven’t finalized our venue but we’re looking at this ballroom for the reception that I think is perfect. I’m just stuck on the centerpieces. I don’t know if I want a round bowl on a mirror with floating flowers inside surrounded by votive candles or go with the tall cylinder vases with flowers?

Hi Phylicia,
i found something so beautiful and simple. could you imagine a plum colored rose in a vase with floating candle, though the white is sooo dreamy( pic i posted)

and check out the floating petals and candles, would be so elegant and save bucks too! i love the “illusion” of lush flowers with petals.
*wedding centerpiece grouping
hope you like the ideas! when you get your venue let me know!! i will be able to steer you in a better direction:thumbsup:

hi stacey, need ideas for my prince and pricncess wedding this year, dec 1. i want yellow and tangerine orange colors, would this do for a fairytale wedding? or wat color do you recommend? here’s the website of our venue. http://www.theglassgarden.com.ph/

cristy,
that is a beautiful venue. i think yellow and tangerine would be amazing in this venue. however, my main concern is the bm dresses. these 2 colors are difficult to pull off on most skintones. i wouldnt put it this color scheme with black cause it will come off to fall or octoberish. putting the girls in grey would work but it still poses skintone problems. i like champagne and i have worked with it with yellow before, though they are very similar unless the yellow is a little deeper. if it were me, i would have yellow and orange in the brides bouquet then have the rest of the wedding decor in monochromatic orange, one shade slightly deeper than the other. i didnt know what you wanted your bm to wear? or if they already had their dresses. i am gonna work on a board and send it toshow what i am thinking.

cristy,
here is the board i made. i couldnt find the bouquet i posted separate, though it is the main bouquet for inspiration. i thought a champagne and white or gold and white base would be perfect and elegant. lots of candlelight. notice the centerpieces are candlelight. i thought it would be great with these candle globes and votives, with scattered petals.
candlelight is best for a winter wedding, itmagnifies the romance and warmth. i thought black with champagne or gold worked best for tuxes. i truly hope you like it. or at least will be able to see if this is what you envisioned. let me know if the colors work for you, if they aren’t what expected we can go in another direction. if you keep it simple to plan, with a nuetral base then bring in pops of color in florals, you will speed up planning time. i just LOVE the bouquet pic. i couldnt find who made it but these are really the colors( orange and yellow) beautiful.

have you got your venue? that would be top priority. can you give me some more details of what you want? alot of theme things or just dreamy? withthe venue pics i could tell alot about how todecorate etc. then i could make you a mood board.
i think it would be great to base it off the Ever After movie. you could go all theme with costumes but you could also have simple tuxes. in the meantime check these boards out…

S. Turner,
i would love to help out!! First I have a couple questions…..
1) what size and formality is the wedding? does she want simple elegance and low key or a grand affair? shorter dress, suit, or gown? do you want theme or just a few touches of elegance?
2) is there a venue, if so, do you have pics or a link i could check it out to find colors and decor to suit?

I have a mood board i made it emphasizes on a more traditional wedding and it is meant to show grace and elegance without to many details. the colors are black, white, and light blue. i didnt know if this is something you had in mind or not?
i think it is absolutely wonderful what you are doing!! look forward to hearing from you!!

i hope i have found something you could use. another option is to set up 3 different heights of floating candles in cylinders on a glass square. then in the front space of the grouping place a smaller white carriage. like here, except with the carriage….

* real wedding

i thought you might like it. you could do the tulle in simple white or silvery grey. another color you could do is plum and chamapgne. which i think i would do the champagne linens with the plum flowers. have girls in plum with light to dark plum bouquets, you could carry champagne and creamy white roses with chamapgne beaded ribbon. guys in black with champagne vests and ties. for reception have some tables with flowers and votives and others with tall glass cylinders with floating rose petals and candles. surrounded by votives and optional rose petals. another idea, is lighting. you could have champagne linens with plumish lighting around the room. theknot.com if you signup and go to wedding photos, you can see different color galleries. also go here:

My colors are espresso, latte and topaz (accented with orange) my wedding theme is ‘My Fairytale come true - I’ve Fallen for you!! for flowers i would have candelabras sprinkle with rose petals or vases of calla lilies and roses. to cut down on cost get more roses and have a few calla’s dotting the arrangement. or keep it super simple with flowing greenery with draping rhinestone garlands, votives in glass votive holders with rhinestones( diy with rhinestones and glue) and a calla lily at each place setting.

I am so grateful for this site and everyone’s input. It has really been helpful in planning my wedding. I am fine tuning things, but am still struggling with a few details. If anyone has any advice regarding the following please do so!

I’ve attached a picture of my dress, but now I don’t know what to do for my flower girl(she’s my 2 yr old daughter). This is the dress I found for her, but am not sure if the pink would be okay or if I should go with ivory. Any other ideas are welcome too.

My next question is bouquet. I’m totally at a loss for what type of bouquet to do. My colors are white, pink, and silver. I have no one else but the flower girl standing up. I was thinking calla lillies and roses, but I need more input than that. Something different. Any images to help would be awesome!

Then its my cake. I want it white, with maybe silver or pink accents; any neat ones out there anyone has seen? I’m open to suggestions. How does a cake table get decorated? Totally clueless when it comes to this.

My last question is our “sweetheart” table. Where do I put it? We have a long rectangular hall. There is a stage at one end, see the picture I added. Do we go up there, even though that is segragated? Where should we be? And any neat ideas for decorating our table to make it stand out from the rest?

Our other tables are going to have white table clothes with silver and/or pink organza, not sure if they are all going to be the same or mix it up. Mirrors with 3 white candles with ribbon around them, some ivy, pink and platinum diamond confetti. Should our table match, I wanted it to stand out a bit somehow.

Well, hopefully someone will be able to give me some ideas! I appreciate it.

becky,
1) flowergirl should be in ivory with a pink or ivory sash and pink flower. sash alone will be fine. it will flow better than the 2 pink dresses.
2)*bouquets ( feather bouquet is gorgeous but just the roses with the rhinestone wrap is what i see for your dress) the wrap pulls in the silver. actually this is the bouquet i pick for your dress. it fits perfectly. i think the pink and white or all pale pink would be the most complimentary. dont forget to check out that entire website, you will not believe your eyes!!!
3) i think the wedding cake needs to be a white confection on a silver stand, set on white linen and sprinkle shades of pinks and white rose petals elegantly on table. for an ethereal effect you can add a sheer draping linen (on top of the solid white linen) and let that sheer puddle to the floor. consider haveing a rhinestone crown or rhinestone jewel picks for a cake topper( google image wedding cake jewelry) another idea is have both solid and sheer linen and sprinkle with (craft store) rhinestones. love the sparkle!!
4)*wedding reception floor plans
also google image wedding head table for tons of pics!! i do love the photo of the round tables instead of one long one. its unique!!
5) i would keep it the same the only difference i would add is more lush flowers. or you could do all the rest in white and have yours in a pale pink. i would keep all guests tables uniform. google image pink sweetheart table and then sweetheart table ( more pics)

hope this helps!!

Stacey,

Thanks for the input. Before you had mentioned it I had bough my silver cake stand-gotta love Hobby Lobby! I have already shopped around for organza table overlays! And am using diamond confetti on the tables. Great ideas, thanks again. I love the bouquets-perfect! Again, I appreciate the input, especially on the flower girl dress, my gut was going towards ivory.

Heh ya’ll,
Here in Louisiana we have summer almost year round it seems. :D Today i saw we have a high of 91 and a humidity of 66%. Our weather is a cross of muggy and just plain hot and it is only May, so we know what is lurking around the corner. Down here we are happy to see cooler weather and today while google searching i came across winter wonderland pics oh! what a dream! well…really…that’s it, just a dream. When it does snow, it is scattered flurries, people run outside to see this rare precipitation wondering if it will stick and we just might get “lucky” to have a white Christmas. Nope! it just disappears as soon as it hits the ground and all that is left is a water spot. So in honor of all things snow, i made a winter cinderella story board. Then i will go back to dreaming of snow some more!! :love2:

* Hope it can help a bride planning a winter cinderella wedding or at least, like me closing my eyes and making angels in the snow!!

* about the board. this can be done on a simple budget too. branches can be free, just cut trim and paint then ( from a craft store) have crystal garlands. i priced some last year hobby lobby for $8.99 ( saveoncrafts.com wuld have them maybe in bulk ) a strand. they were long and could be modified into shorter strands to get “more” out of the strand. another idea is alternate crystal garlands with suspended ribbons with a small crystal on bottom ( to keep it weighted). they rest is just rented linens ( luxury fabric) which is the best bang for the buck in making a wedding look more expensive. as you see, i kept with a simple romantic color scheme with lots of gold ( again a more luxury look), have the cinderella invites, i love the bm in green providing a break inthe subtle colors. sashes here can be added to any dress for a luxury look. keep flowers in one type like roses ( to save on costs and arranging is easier) the tables hold simple inexpensive candles. guys suits or tux is rented. to reduce costs even more, try a dessert, punch, and champagne reception( focus on a 2 die 4 cake flavor) and have this wedding at 7 p.m. have a babysitter on hand for lil’ ones getting tired ( dont 4 get punch for them) another idea is heavy appetizers. bouquet jewelry can be bought for very cheap at walmart or craft store. the hot chocolate will add to the wintry mood ( definitley have this). favors? keep it simple and buy orangaza bags and fill with traditional almonds). i kept the look with a slight contemporary feel too. notice the alter. you could cut evergreens and stack in rented urns. aisle? you can swap luminary bags for candles ( just make sure you have enough sand in bottom and your train wont knock it over) fires +wedding = disaster.

angelina,
sure!! i went ahead and converted the currency and these beauties run $1043.00 US. i researched for a cheaper pair, if you are crafty you could buy a pair of similar heels and use tweezers and fabric glue and doll up some heels of your own. if you do this just make sure crystal edges will not catch your dress hem. you could pair them in spaghetti straps. it is really difficult to determine due totheir body shapes. if youare wanting a universally flattering color and easier to find. why not have pink bm dresses? and have the flowers in burgundy and pink? beautiful!! it will also be perfect for fall. the right shade of burgundy can be difficult to find, it depends if your leaning more to a burgundy wine or burgundy red. your color scheme will be breathtaking!! also consider a strapless gown with a wrap. another GORGEOUS and failproof color is black ( if the guys are in black) with burgundy bouquets. one of the best sources ( since mail order is tricky) is davidsbridal.com i liked th ecolors wine and berry. both long strapless are great ( dont worry about the color so much. computer pics and real dresses usually are different shades. also check out dessy.com and jimhjelmoccasions.com jcrew.com might have something or department stores such as saks, nordstroms, neiman marcus etc. dont overlook a shorter dress, if your not having a formal wedding, these lengths are superb!!
*example dresses ( i checked and some of these dresses come in burgundy)
* example dresses 2 ( bill levkoff is stunning!! make sure dresses will flatter bm body shapes, davids bridal has separates that will look fab and will suit them )I LOVE the priscilla of boston ice pink how romantic and fairytale like!!

sera,
are you talking about the head table? why not make a backdrop of royal banners ( i was thinking 3 satin banners 2 brown and middle one in baby blue) with your monograms then for center banner and suspend them. is do you have someone in family or friends that is creative they could help you sew them up and attach a iron on monogram. another idea is have the middle on say happily ever after or dreams come true. have a garland draped on front of table or a lush( lots of greenery) or pumpkins arrangement for center front of table.

Hey ladies.
I have one question for you guys and im hoping you all can help me. im having a fairytale wedding. and my colors are baby blue, white and a touch of silver. however when i ordered the dresses i went with something a lil’ diff. i can exchange them.. im just not sure if they’ll look okay. they’re black, strapless, very formal, and long, and they bunch up kinda around the chest around. and they have a blue kind of material that matches our wedding color on them… will these look okay? they groomsmen are gonna be in black also. They’re flowers are white cally lillies and i dipped them in baby blue on the ends. Will that bring out some blue in the outfit. or should i just stick with the blue white and forget the black…??

I am having a fall fairy tale wedding, colors are red, gold, and burgundy. What would be some other nice colors to add to this? My maid of honor is wearing a gold dress and my bridemaids red. My flowers girls again gold and red. I was thinking of getting small pumpkins and hollow them out and put fall flowers in them for center pieces. But I need more ideas. The wedding will be outside as will the reception. But it is hard to combine ideas into one, a fall fairy tale wedding. Any help would be most grateful. Oh the wedding is Oct. 11, 2009. One is my wedding dress, I thought it would be perfect for a fairy tale wedding, and the others are my maid of honor and bridemaids dress (gold and red) and my flowergirls dress(red and gold)

kim,
i personally love the colors you have. the greenery and white will add romance without xtra colors. i think i may have found something….. it popped into my mind why not have whole pumpkins marching down the tables and attach the vine to it? that would give you an amazing centerpiece without having to carve anything!! no florals to buy. just tuck a rose into each place setting napkin. you can take the $$$ you saved and buy fake pumpkin vine/leaves to attach or buy crystal garland to tuck in and among the pumpkins.
*pumpkin centerpiece

then give those pumpkins away to the kids just in time for them to carve! you can make sure you have enough for your lil’ ones by having extra pumpkins setting against a tree.
*outdoor wedding
favors? pumpkin shaped cookies in elegant white fabric bags
tied with a cascading satin ribbon( let fall to end of bag for an ethereal look)

That is a awesome idea I love it. Thank you so much. The future hubby came up with a idea that I love too. He is making two pumpkin carriages to have on each side of the arch. He is making a undercarriage for each one, and carving out doors. I am going to decorate them with some glitter on the outside of the pumpkins and have white lights inside of them for a soft glow. He is very crafty

This is the wedding cake I have chosen for the wedding. Instead of the pastel colors for the flowers and garland. I was thinking of using fall colors for the flowers and garland to match my colors in the wedding. I think it would like nice. I found this cake in Wilton’s Castle Cakes magazine. What does everyone think? Is it a good idea? Any input would be so helpful.

If you are asking me where I got my dresses from, I have to be honest I got mine from e-bay. I looked in every bridal shop in my area and then some and I could not find a dress that I liked. I was on ebay one day looking at wedding stuff and the idea hit me to look at wedding dresses. I found my wedding dress, the dress was custom made for me, I had to send my measurements and I got one awesome dress. I was nervous about it let me tell you lol, but I am very happy with my dress and so glad I took the risk to have my dream dress for my wedding. And it didn’t cost me a arm or a leg for the dress either. All the above dresses in my comments are from ebay.

So I have a question for you ladies. I absolutely love the color pink, but don’t want it to be overboard for the wedding. However, in my searching for gowns I have come across some very pale pink gowns, they are gorgeous! They are the palest shade that it almost seems an ivory. Would having a pink dress be tacky, especially if the weddings colors are black, white, pink, and a touch of silver? Would I dress the flower girl (my daughter) in that color also? No one else is standing up.
Any input would be great-seriously.

becky, colored gowns were the norm in renaissance/medieval days long before white came along. traditional usually was blue. i love the fact you want a colored gown and pale pink is perfect!! have the flowergirl in ivory with a black or pink sash.

I have a “Happily Ever After” wedding coming up FAST!! May 30th, 2009, and I need help with a couple of things: deciding how to decorate my reception and how to coordinate the bridesmaid and flower girl dresses. My reception will be held at a KC Hall… hardwood floors and walls with a band playing at one end of the room. I want it to look like a fairy tale and not a big HALL! I have been looking at ideas on your site and the karentran site and feel overwhelmed with ideas. I attached one pic of the hall and one pic of the entrance to the hall. I want the main theme color to be pinky/rosy shades. I am meeting someone today to discuss ways to light the room with color. I’ve thought about adding that draped fabric from the ceiling (renting from ducky bobs) too. I like the idea of renting candelabras, adding roses and crystals, but not sure how to do that. I want candles and twinkle lights too possibly.
2nd: the dresses. I attached a picture of my dress, which is a champagne/blush shade. I only have 2 bridesmaids and I chose to let them wear black…slimming and everyone looks good in it. I have 2 flower girls, twins with long blonde hair and blue eyes. I was thinking maybe ivory cinderella with black sashes and a rose/pink rose attached? Not sure if white would clash with my dress and how to tie in the black from the bridesmaids. I thought also about adding a pink/rosy accent to the black dresses as well.

Help!! Obviously I am running out of time. and THANK YOU! I love your site!!!!

charlotte, hi!!
first have the flowergirls in pale pink dresses to pull some pink in it. i have a couple questions. what color are the tuxes? i love the idea of you having the bm in black. i think rhinestone cadleabras are a good fit for this room. you will get the rhinestones dangling, have a few intertwining florals ( i prefer greenery like ivy instead of florals here, crystals +candles+ greener= super romantic!! faux draping ivy can be just fine with this!!), then have your candles. make sure they are not the really tall candleabras. i was thinking medium height. reason being you could axe the draping and put the $$$ into centerpieces which would fill the room. i completely agree with the candlelight. you could have a few xtra clear glass votives surrounding your rented candleabras for xtra romance!! now for the tiny lights rent green ficus trees and put into strategic places with little white lights. i have a wedding i HAD to show you….

*Paola & Sanjay Day 2( i could image this in your colors!!)

wrap your bouquets for some bling and romance. it will make a difference. check out the floralytes( google image this) you could add pink to the water with these ( or food dye) and put your flowers in it. i like the lytes it will give off a glow in the water!! and they are inexpensive. my first thought was actually using black and cream in the room with candlelight, dimmed lights and floral candleabras but i didnt know what you already have.
can you tell me real quick what you do have done? the cake and all that?

tip: just get the crystal candleabras and put with the greenery. i think that would be the quickest and give ya the look ya want. what color are your linens? etc? i want to make sure i dont find stuff you already have it would take longer to sort thru it all then. cant wait to hear from ya!!

Thank you for writing back! Your comments did not show up for a couple of days and then I got bogged down and didn’t check back. OK, answers:

The tuxes are black. I’m attaching a pic of the colors of vests for the guys…groom in ivory, groomsmen in pink and my 11 yr old son who gives me away in a fuschia.

Were you suggesting medium sized candelabras with rhinestones hanging and the ficus trees? I wasn’t following you. I can rent ficus trees with lights…maybe from ducky bobs? I loved Paola’s pictures! Beautiful!

I like the thought of the floralytes in water with flowers too….that could be very pretty and warm. I just ordered my cake and I told her white with pink roses inbetween the layers. I saw a really cool cake though with a rhinestone tiara on top that was awesome! I’m wavering with that. The grooms cake with be chocolate with chocolate cov. strawberries and a frog prince holding a crown on top!

I have not ordered the linens yet. I thought if I ended up doing some pink uplighting that I could just go with white tablecloths and some color/candles for the centerpieces. But I’m open…on color of lighting and linens. Originally going to do a rosy sash on the chairs, but again, I’m open. What is your black/cream idea?

Do you think I should drape the entrance doors to the room or do something to hide them and create a warmer entrance or just worry about the ballroom area? Also, draping the food and cake tables. Tell me your thoughts about colors first and then I can decide about how to decorate these tables.

I saw a small lighted cinderella carriage that could be rented and used for something in the entrance as a display, but that is just one more thing to tie into the fairy tale theme. We even found a cinderella carriage we could rent with white horses for us instead of a limo that we are considering.

I’m more concerned about decorating at this time. I love the crystal ideas a lot! Thank you so much for your help! I know it is last minute, but I know I can pull it all together! You are the best!

charlotte,
i love what you have!! i think simple topiaries at the entrance would work but that is optional, i have posted the type of candelabras that i was thinking. wrought iron with prisms all readyon them. if you cant find any of these to rent then get the simple silver ones and attach faux greenery and crystal garland up the base. for the doors why not have floral wreaths with wide ribbon to dress those up? or initials?

tes,
google image blue white silver wedding also blue white silver wedding board. so many pics of decor!! the blue tulle with lights will give a lot of impact for the buck!! great thinking!! due to this i would have all white linens, with silver floral containers and white flowers baby blue chair slip covers ( the ones without the sash) add white linens and silver favor boxes, the silverware will round out the silver. you can add baby blue napkins to the mix but make sure it matches the blue tulle your using otherwise you could keep it all white and silver( which i love) it easy especially on a timecrunch. you will have plenty of blue. another flower idea would be white roses and blue hydrangeas.

Hi,

My Cinderella wedding is coming up fast 8-16-09. I’m thinking a cotton candy pink for my color aside from silver and white. I’ve kinda figured out my centerpieces and favors; but I need decorating tips. Our reception is at http://www.thewatersoshkosh.com in the grand ballroom. There is a lot of gold so maybe gold would be better than silver. I really could use cake and bouquet suggestions. And some decorating tips. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks

becky,
i looked at the grand ballroom and it is just beautiful. i would use clear glass for the centerpieces.i am thinking you should pull from the chandeliers. i really love the crystal look. as for silver it would be just fine to use in the ballroom but keep it in subtle touches. there is a wedding cake knife( two toned) that combines gold and silver, i think this look would be for you. i love using both it makes it different and beautiful!! this room doesnt have a tall ceiling which is to your advantage especially if on a budget. think crystal vases or cut glass bowls with beautiful deeper pink roses( i would use all roses). i say a soft deeper pink because i think it would play off the gold walls and would give it some color. have your cake in white and pink with greenery(ivy) i think adding greenery to this room would make it come alive. for your cake have it in white with silver and gold embroidered look, and a crystal cake topper like here…

*9 piece crystal cake topper

google image crystal wedding bouquet wrap, i think this around a bouquet of creamy white roses would be perfect for your bouquet. have the girls carry a shade of pink, lighter agaisnt a deeper pink dress; darker against a lighter dress. google image crystal wedding ( for beautiful pics) have white plates setting on gold chargers and silverware to side it will give that silver/gold look in a super simple way!! tie or attach simple jewels to napkins. or pink tied favors sitting atop a dinner plate.
let me know what ya think!!

Thanks Stacy! Your ideas definitely help and you have similiar ideas to mine. I am definitaly sold on the bouquet jewelry, just trying to figure out how to do it myself-I like the sprigs in the bouquet of jewels and also loved the cake top-but am torn between that and a white lighted castle for the cake topper. I want a white cake with some pink accents definitaly though. Round 3 tier. As for centerpieces, I am thinking 3 white pillars candles of different heigths(symbolizing my fiance, self, and 2 yr old daugther) on mirrors with pink diamond confetti sprinkled on the tables. But then I was torn with doing something more fairytale esque. My favors are going to be the classic slippers, castle, and coach place card holders. Maybe fairy dust also since I had my heart set on using it for being tossed at us, but we can’t have anything thrown. Which is question #2: Do I do bubbles or wands? I was thinking bubbles and using the wand idea for on the tables with a bell attached to ring instead of glasses. Any thoughts? My daughter will be the flower girl and she is going to carry a “magic wand” that will incorporate the crystal that I want in my bouquet. She is the only one standing up for us. We are trying to keep on a budget and only started planning 2 weeks ago :-( So, that is what I have decided so far. Any suggestions for decorating the table with the guest book would be great. Also do we sit at our own table or with everyone else?

becky,
i love the idea od ribbon wands for the guests to wave for your departure(google image ribbon wands and diy ribbon wands) you can make these yourself. if you want the castle go for it or have it setting on the side. i love the candles and the meaning sokeep that. another idea for the guest book table would be a large scroll on a stand( simple picture or plate stand) complete with tassels. all you do is take parchment paper and find a great wedding poem get onthe computer and find a scroll border print and there ya go!! you could have this sitting by the book and plume or feather pen; you can even burn the edges to make it look old world. make sure you clean ashes and bits of burnt paper off edging or it will be messy. and last ( for the centerpieces) you can also take those candles and set them up on silver, glass, or wooden pedestals with ivy trailing down which would make a beautiful presentation.

I’m having a fairytale/royalty-themed wedding this June. I just had the idea of trying to find two thrones, one for me and my groom, that we would sit in during the reception. I’ve looked everywhere online but can only find thrones to buy from England. Any ideas? Thanks so much!

Search second hand furniture stores, and even spring auctions. Furniture with a Mediterranean or Spanish style tend to look ornate. Find two closely matching dining room chairs preferably with arms. Take them home, sand them down and paint them gold. A couple of coats of gold spray paint might work too. This would be a great project for you and your groom to create! Staple lush fabric remnants of velvet or satin to existing seat covers. Ask a friend who has a some sewing skills to make a pillow for each of the seats out of the same fabric. Your thrones should be placed on a platform to appear higher then the other seats at the reception. You could even have a banner hanging above the thrones declaring something like “Wed this day, June 6, 2009″ or something more fun like “Fairytales can come true…”
When you’re not sitting on the thrones, they would make a great prop for wedding guests to sit in and have their pictures taken, a fun souvenier gift from the wedding. Have some “play tiaras and crowns” available for picture props as well.

pink would actually be the best color toput her in. it would stand out so beautiful against the charcoal. i would stick to a solid color. another thing you can do is add a lighter grey sash around the dress.

Hey, everyone! I am having an Fairytale themed wedding in October 2010, and really need help. I am incorporating some pumpkins, (since it’s October and for Cinderella’s pumpkin carriage), but I don’t want it to look like a fall themed wedding. I am thinking about having wire pumpkin centerpieces, fairytale themed favors, and cinderella invitations. But I am not sure of my colors. I love pink, but my man wants red. So I was thinking to have red/pink, white and silver…..or is that too much?
I need help ladies, any advice please?

angelina,
hi, i put together a mood board for you to show how these colors mesh. the color scheme turned out to be perfect for this theme and its noticable it is a cinderella wedding. for ringbearer use a royal looking pillow. you will see mini pumpkin shaped cakes. i thought these would look sooooo good on each place setting. this could be used instead of the wedding cake for the guests or have them in clear plastic with ribbon for favors with ribbon that says happily ever after. you could easily incorporate what i have here into what you want. the bm dress is from jimhjelm.com the rest i can let you know if you need the info. at first i thought about pulling the silvery blue from inside the bridal shoes and the bouquet ribbon extending it to the flowergirl. i thought it looked good having her in a silvery blue. didnt know if you would like it?!? plus the something blue for the bride shows up so much better with the flower girl in another color. i used a burgundy red cause the blood red had to harsh look for a fairytale wedding. it needed to be more royal so i went with the deeper jewel tone. i was gonna put the cake pink but had more wow being burgundy red and the wedding cake is suppose to be a showstopper. you cant tell but the brides bouquet is actually pale elegant pink with creamy white(the colors of the centerpieces). why not get mini wire pumpkin holders and use them for table numbers or for place settings? just a thought. i hope you like it!!
oh i also wanted to show you this pink gown! wow! the store is stamped across pic. hollywood dreams.

I liked this idea for center pieces. But I just found on http://www.orientaltrading.com….. on clearance wax pumpkins 50 count for $ 1.99 they are small enough for favors. Paint them silver and put in an purple organza bag for my wedding favors. Very inexpensive! What do you think Stacey, good idea or bad?

amber,
the paint will stick to the wax but organza may rub it off. i dont think i would go this route. you will spend the money on favors that might not be used. however, i would buy them and use for placecards. would work sooo well!! i would go for something edible or that guests would love to use. now you can add the pumpkins with something edible and have a very nice favor and still stay in the inexpensive range.

angelina, almost 4got. about the silver just use it for any of your metal accents.(you can see it very well in the rhinestone accents and have the bm wear silver heels; pull it in a subtle way. i usually suggest that to brides. it keeps the color schem from going crazy when there are more than 3 colors.

angelina,
hi!! have you checked out jcrew.com? hAve you checked out the berry color at davids bridal? if your not crazy about burgundy with your dress. would you consider a shade of pink or even black. black would be super classic.if you went with this the bm could have a dress they could wear again. if you choose a long dress they can shorten it into a cocktail dress. another fantasic color is a silvery grey it would make the red and burgundy bouquets pop!! make sure this color suits their skintone though. berries and wines for makeup will warm it up. if you cant find anything then put them in a deep red. have them carry the pink/red bouquet and to amp yours up you can add deeper pink into your creamy white bouquet.

I am also having a Cinderella Wedding in Sept 09. I have decided on doing bubble wands for after the church with personalized ribbon. I bought the ribbon very cheap on Ebay and it has the date along with “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo”. It is so cute, and it represents the fairy godmother.

As for favors, we have decided to take the money and donate it to a special cause. After lots of thinking and looking at the cost of everything. I thought that people would not take them home, throw them away and it basically was a waste of my money. At least I know it will go to a good cause.

As favors I’m making little pink satin pillows and placing glass slippers on them( found them on ebay) and putting that in a box. My colors are Chocolate and pink. So the box is going to be chocolate colored with a pink ribbon wrapped around it. My cake is going to be a 3 tier square cake and the topper is going to be a shoe that the baker is making out of sugar.. http://www.metrocustomcakes.com perfect for my Cinderella glass slipper. Hi everyone,

amber,
have silver and white as your main decor. then add purple or silver ( if it works with skinttone) with your bridal party. have guys in black with royal looking vests. to much purple or the wrong shade of purple will take away from the dreaminess that cinderella weddings should capture. girls bouquets should be a lighter shade of purple with amazing satin ribbons. yours should be white with an amazing jeweled ribbon.

if you cant find a ribbon like this, then i would make it. craft stores have small rhinestones that can be glued on in the shape of monograms or the wedding date even both! tulle will be your #1 best friend and it is so inexpensive that you can purchase enough to decorate your arch, make tulle(choose the one that is more fluid like and not stiff, it shimmers a little too)pew bows that puddle to the floor, etc. add ivy everywhere and choose only roses for the flowers.

the thing here is the details. buy or make (and every cinderella wedding should have this! smile) a royal purple velvet ringbearer pillow. flowergirl should be in a dreamy lilac or white with royal purple ribbon( colored dress, most true to the era) fairytale dress and wear a hair wreath with flowing ribbons down her back carrying a flower wand. ballerina slippers complete her look. for your cake go against the slipper cake topper and make it authentic regal looking instead choose a rhinestone crown. when the wedding is over put it in safekeeping for your future daughter.

add cinderella details like the glass slipper and secure it on the ringbearer pillow. have the invites in a royal tone like a scroll border. another idea is to add banners and flags to your wedding decor and candles. renting candleabras and single candle holders decorated with ivy and tulle would be a sure winner!! for favors give the traditonal silver dragees (google search) put in little velvet bags.

dont forget you can also add two more little guys and give them fake trumpets ( have someone play a trumpet cd and they could announce your entrance; it will look like they are really announcing you, just make sure its a good age so they will do the task) the only thing it will cost is renting 2 extra suits and buying 2 metal trumpets from a craft store. and the cd would be super easy to make!! the royal are famous for their service attendants so it would make sense to have this many roles in the wedding. the key to this is in the details, if you pay attention to upscale looking items, you will have it made!! no need to spend an arm and leg.

parchment paper makes the best diy invites, you can add a scroll border and old world style font. find tea colored envelopes or white and bingo! instant cinderella invites!! smile. i say again keep you reception looking fairytale by using white and silver for the backdrop it will give a better presentaion. keep the silver(as i always suggest tothe silverware and centerpiece holders like bowls or urns filled with roses and greenery. have a purple program or a simple thank you poem card or program on each plate for a pop of color to the table ( again so diy) dont worry about using a shiny or light silver one that is almost on a vibrant greyish side will work too.

*A Purple wedding dont forget the plume pen and an amzing guest book or large piece of parchment to sign.

* Cinderella Flower Girl Dres

*Tulle Wedding Decorations( also google image tulle wedding decor)

*Casablanca Bridal - 1684 ( this dress is 150.00 wow!!)

*Style for a Steal

*Lara Corsets & Gowns

megan…. i couldnt believe it!! i found a wedding dress at davids bridal that is so similar its not funny. it has the same corset styling etc. i searched everywhere and the only option is custom made. :meh: but this dress at davids comes in ivory or white. it has a big slender skirt. they also offer the sleeve option. the price is perfect!! $600- 650 .i would make it more renaissance by adding estate jewelry. it will make the look!! i know it dont have the front like that but i still hope you like it.

*Style: V8822

*leshabitudes ( i didnt know your budget etc. but this place is perfect for making the dress)

*Wedding Dress Gallery #165964

*Wedding Dress Gallery #118610

*wedding dresses
i sure hope these help but i do again suggest a corset gown and have them put on the straps if budget is a issue. some of these gowns run into the thousands.

Hi!! I’m getting married Sep’09. My theme is a fairy tale and color is royal blue for the brides maids. Can you advice what contrast color would look good for the flower girls?
Also, need some tips on unique favors keeping in mind the theme in mind (primarily a castle/carriage). The only thing I could find were candles  !!! Any additional tips are welcome!! :thankyou:

lourdes, i actually think i would keep it in the blue family, have them in light shimmery blue or white with royal blue bow. or you could just choose solid white. which would still be fine.

*Inexpensive flower girl dress(very cinderella like)
keep the favors edible. i would put chocolates or monogrammed cookies in boxes tied with a bow. use the same color bow as the flowergirl dress;if using pale blue etc. have the ringbearer carry a pale blue velvet pillow with tassles or add pale blue there also. i would also consider using pale blue here and there even in flowers. stunning. check out the fairytale section here for beautiful favor boxes or bags. velvet drawstring favor bags would be super beautiful. good luck!!

I have finally managed to narrow down the wedding favors to miniature Snow Globes, with either a couple or maybe a castle. Would you know of any web site I could purchase this from?? Once again any further tips always come in handy!!!

Hi everyone,
Im getting married July 26, 2009. I am having a big cinderella wedding. I always dreamed of one since i was a little girl. My colors are baby blue, white, and silver. I’m tryin to figure out what i should do about my color theme, and how to work with it while decorating. Please help. I am using little plastic slippers as favors with m&m’s in blue and white. I am also using bottles of wine in silver bags decorated with something cinderella. If anyone can give me some more ideas with this … help!

Hi Sera!
Your hall is actually very neutral. I would get chair covers though!! The cocoa of the dresses would look great with a robin’s egg blue! You could use lighting in the hall to bring in the softer shade of blue. The gold drapes will not be a vocal point if you use cocoa table covers with the accents of the softer blues. In a darkened room and soft shimmering light on your tables the dark carpet is just a back drop!
Have Fun!!

I am in the US so I’m not sure where to tell you to find lighting, but if you ask the event planner at your hall I would think they could give you the name of a lighting company in your area. I found some table cloths at http://www.wholesale-table-linens.com. Ask for fabric samples. Colours look different in real life. If you don’t have a fabric sample from the maids dresses take one to the paint store and match it to a paint chip. It is a great tool to help you find the right colours!!

sera, you can have what you want. i was studying the room and when i found the pic, i just knew it would be perfect! you bm dresses will be beautiful in this setting. notice on the boutonniere pic it has the same color as the dress, while the plates should be solid white. i was thinking carry the bouquet colors onto the centerpieces. have bm carry baby blue hydrangeas tied off with the same exact color of her dress, or with a dark blue ribbon. have the girls wearing blue rhinestone necklaces and earrings. your bouquet should be white with the baby blue ribbon(stands for something blue) i love this color scheme. it is breathtaking! i would have ringbearer carrying the dark blue pillow. the cake should be in baby blue, dark blue, and gold. green will be an automatic color cause of greenery, so i wouldnt worry about that. i will be adding a bouquet pic, not for the flowers but the ribbon. this is what i am thinking for the blue bouquet. dont worry about using so much cocoa. i would cencentrate on the blue colors. if you want to add cocoa anywhere else think about subtle places like ink colors, favor bags(organza) with ribbons, etc. hope this helps!!

I am getting married in May 2010! I have been planning for a long time for this day. I have ideas on most things already. It is of course a Cinderella theme. My FH is making a carriage to hold the cake he has designed it. Our wedding will be held in the early evening, in the mountains up by Yosemite. A masked ball with dinner will follow.

However there are a few things that are driving me crazy, thank God I still have time. I need help with a buffet style dinner menu, and also flowers. Our colors are that of nature focusing on blues, purples, golds, and greens. But any color will work as my dress has lots of colored embroidery. I am posting a picture on the embroidery on the dress and also the space in which I will be working with. Thanks so much for your help both Dawn and Stacey give such great advice!

I am posting the Link to the site I am getting married at because there are some great pictures. There are many sites to choose from inside on the location…Please help me pick the right one!
* Paradise Springs Mountain

Thanks in advance. Hollie

hollie, you are quite welcome!! that embroidery is gorgeous!! i have a few pics for inspiration. i took inspiration from your dress embroidery and ran with it!! i saw the lavender/pinkish flowers??? and thought that shade looked the best!! add deeper purple with blue as accents with white flowers. can use lavender hydrangea in place of lavender flowers in brides bouquet. add tons of greenery to your decor. the chandelier is another inspiration…using only roses and hydrangea is what i was thinking to give a rustic romantic look, and looks the best overall. use this everywhere. keep outdoor flowers to a minimum, you wont need much the place is gorgeous and nature should shine through. if using the arbor, decorate with mostly greenery adding touches of green hydrangea and a few white roses, to keep it from competing with the scenery i wouldnt add color here. have the color with the bridal party florals.( have them carry a mix of lavender and blue hydrangeas with greenery) you can decorate everything with mostly hydrangeas and save the roses/hydrangea with your bouquet and maybe the cake base decor, guest book table. centerpieces of blue, green and purple hydrangeas with lush greenery. the pic of the bride, her bouquet is what colors i see. touches of golds could be brought in the programs (writing and borders) and in the cinderella carriages, votive holders etc. i wouldnt add gold as another main color in tables and florals. unless it will be in runners in small doses or plate rims and glass rims etc.

natalie, oh absolutely!! red is one of the jewel tones they would have actually used in that era. i think that lavender, red and white white would be the ideal choice! in the jimhjelm.com pic just add large head red roses.( old fashioned) put all this against simple white linens. if your budget wont allow a large amount of roses like this then have lots of greenery dotted with roses you will get that same lush effect. i am gonna give you other colors that are lush and fairytale….

* A Valentine wedding at Burhill Golf Club (check out their photo portfolio and gallery one and two orchid dream is my fave!)

* Ruby Red & Tangerine ( its gorgeous!)

* Lush Vintage

* The Knot: Wedding Style: Romantic Affairs

also 1 more last idea to consider. you could do red bm as the only ones with colored bouquets( like the red and lavender for example) keep your centerpieces red with candlelight and all other flowers red including the cake decor. put guys in black and red. this would be really beautiful. also around cake base scatter multi colored petals. take a cue from this wedding at brides.com just type in sweet soiree. its beautiful and fairytale.

kristen, congratulations! my take on your wedding… i love your color scheme. i have included a pic of green style wedding, i thought how amazing it would look for your shades of pink to be set against a elegant green tablecoth add silverware, candlelight. have small crystal bowls of assorted nuts or a special meaningful candy at each tablesetting, would be different and not expensive, just thoughtful. have girls in a pink dress with bouquets and stems wrapped in green. i ‘m not talking a loud green, just a subtle rich green. elegant. you carry the bouquet i have in pic. these will also be your centerpieces. and colos of flowers that will go everywhere else. consider amaranthus for its hanging, dramatic, and elegant quality. with pink flowers on your arch, or the urns i have in pic. (which i love!!). if you dont care for aisle pic, then have single standing candleabras with hurricane globes. with flowers and ribbons puddling to the floor. rose petals scattered.

i love the idea of parchment paper cones tie with ribbon after securing if you wish. or tie knot in ribbons and have them coming out of the inside bottom. not tooo long. on paper before assembling or write in a beautiful writing … dreams do come true, or and they lived happily ever after. filled with rose petals for guest to scatter. have other sayings from cinderella here and there also(this is my main theme for you actually, the cinderella phrases and the glass slipper, ribbons, decor. gotta have the pumpkin too!!

google image wedding paper cones and ribbon wands, (which could represent the fairy godmother and in one place on wand say bibbity bobbity boo. have her dresses like a beautiful princess attire(not costume looking), so that she’ll resemble (with wand of course who was responsible for your dream come true) you may like this better for guests, and not messy for a send off. originally i was thinking flower girl could carry it. ringbearer must carry a velvet pillow. in pink!! and have your vows on a scroll that each of you pull out to read to each other. or with a poem to be read aloud. would be to great if you could find 1 or 2 people to announce your entrance with trumpets. wow!!

also tulle and white christmas lights can be your best friend!! especially in a cinderella wedding it gives an ethereal quality for sooo cheap!! but choose the one with sparkle and remember lots of greenery! consider having very small pumpkins and glass slippers intertwined into your centerpieces.

* pumpkin invitations and contest update
(and/or pumpkin wedding invites, they do not look fall to me. just at top of invite have.. happily ever afte with the border design shown.)

BRIDES, had to do 1 more theme i thought would work for this fantasy wedding!!! its not your usual colors but more of a cinderella wedding in autumn. like an enchanted forest . i have another post of a bigger pic of the reception area, of the one on the mood board.

for brides who didn’t care for the copper tables here is another beautiful setting outdoors. could you imagine the ringbearer carrying a burgundy velvet ring pillow with the glass slipper atop down the aisle to this copper and cream wedding? wow! and putting girls in rust as shown carrying bouquets in pic, now think of accenting this whole scheme with vines with leaves and greenery everywhere and enchanted forest arch decorated of the same with 2 wrought iron candleabras standing on either side with nothing but beeswax candles thruout the venues!! greenery with white lights or amber lights woven in. just absolutely magical, scatter pumpkins around or in a certain spot with an old world sign (that looks burnt on the edges)reading happily ever after. and have a elegant gold wedding cake with a cinderella carriage beside it and greenery.

Poll! Admit it, you’ve been tempted by the thought of wearing a pair of glass slippers down the aisle. Right?

But the only real options out there seem to be plastic, naturally enough (glass and crystal being pretty impractical choices for footwear). For some of us, this poses a big dilemma. So what will you do about your glass slipper fetish?

 Not all fairy tale weddings have to be silver and pink or soft blue. Just got married Oct 2,2008 with a fairytale castle theme. I used red, brown, and green!

Robyn, your attention to detail shines through in every pic here. I LOVE your color scheme, totally fresh, modern and beautiful! You are clearly one uber-creative bride, these pics could launch a whole fleet of unexpected and contemporary fairytale weddings! And I LOVE THOSE SHOES!

An unbelievable bouquet + wrap captured by Jennifer Skog, found at Mrs. Shortcake / WeddingBee. WOW! :faint: Imagine having to put this down so you can dance with your new husband … they might have to pry it out of your hands.

BRIDES, now bear with me i am gonna put a more modern twist on the cinderella story. first i see wedding scroll invites with tassels, i still see a gorgeous ceremony in champagne and pinks with or without touches of burgundy. the bride is dressed in champagne carrying a traditional bouquet of champagne and pink roses.the bm carrys champagne roses only tied with a majestic ribbon. then into the reception i see the posted pics. isnt it beautiful and different!! still add the old worlld storybook tale decor!! i think i am gonna try to find a great wedding cake!! be right back!!

Hi Christina,

A real diamond tiara? That’s a no-brainer for Harry Winston, the guy (or company actually) who provided the bling we saw on Scarlett in Annie Leibowitz’ Disney/Cinderella photo shoots, or on Kate Moss posing nude save for the Vera Wang veil and Winston tiara (W magazine). These pieces are so expensive that even A-listers tend to rent or borrow them for red carpet events, but one can be yours for somewhere between 160K and 360K.

Failing that, you can get a high-end swarovski crystal tiara with freshwater pearls for somewhere around a thousand dollars. That leaves a lot more money for the catering team. ;)

Hey, just had to share this find a bride posted about on another page … Tinkerbell garden lanterns that make great centerpieces. These are tin lanterns and a wonderful size for CPs (11″ x 8″) and even tho they’re Disney, would you believe they’re $16.95 each?? :wow: Found at LTD commodities. Cute!

Today I’m procrastinating at Etsy and came across this little dose of cuteness in the form of a fantasy flower girl gown. :P

Of course, I’m in love with the blue fairytale look lately so I had to post it. This sweet little creation is by FrogPrincessCouture.
