Pink Theme Weddings

Ah, pink. Some say a woman's life-long love for pink is biological. Others say it's nothing more than sweet free will.

Either way, for many brides, a wedding isn't the lifelong dream it should be without a hefty dose of pink.

And while the hues we pair with it might change from year to year, pink at its core ... which says young love, playfulness and fresh-faced romance ... sends the same beloved message across the ages.

Still, even pink isn't immune to the forces that, over time, make weddings ever-more personal statements of our own individual design sensibilities ... and love stories.

So while some pink weddings hark back to fairy tales from once-upon-a-time, others are practically punk-rock (you won't see yards of tulle at your typical pink and black wedding). And then there are the unexpected pinks: the ethereal pink and silver, for example, that warm up a modern winter wonderland wedding.

In fact, while pink might not exactly be the new black, it might actually be the new 'neutral' — cozying up gorgeously with all kinds of colors, creating looks that range from demure to drama queen.

pink picks

Pink on Pink, or Pink on White

This bride often loves the classic take on love, with plenty of pale pink rose petals to blanket the aisle. Bridesmaids' attire will probably be on soft side, with lovely sparkling brooches.

This bride might have pink winking out from her engagement ring in the form of pink sapphires, or even a JLo style pink diamond. The shoes might be oh-so-traditional bridal sandals, but sporting a perky bow and a tiny diamante stone — and we'll take bets that she's tracked down a pink satin garter for that leggy moment on the chair.

Her gown? All girl, possibly with elaborate lace overlays or a full ruched skirt. And the hair? We're guessing a half-up/half-down romantic tumble of locks.

Nothing's too feminine for this color scheme, so get out the pink marabou feathers for your chair backs, centerpiece vases or flower girls, go wild with the fluffiest pink poenies your florist can rustle up, wrap everything you can in romantic pink satin ribbons (bouquet stems, waists, pew cones) and don't forget some popular spins on ultra-pink: like the cherry blossom wedding. Want more of a garden look? Carry oversized bunches of bright pink tulips.

Pink and Black

This bride often leans toward bold graphic patterns (no fussy invites here!) ... and bold satin sashes. The bridesmaids' will probably be brightly attired, and you probably won't find her carrying a tight Cinderella posey of pastel roses, but something a little more fiery: hot pink cymbidium orchids, say, or a bouquet of Asiatic lilies. Pink anemones are eye-catching blooms, too, with their wild black centers.

Chances are, this bride's gown will belong to the Vera Wang school of slicked-down designs, and you might find some bright spots of color peeking out from under her gown: gorgeous bridal slingbacks in black or pink. Tabletop florals might be acid-bright clumps of chrysanthemums in a pavée design, or hydrangeas tipped to a deep and assertive hue. The perfect floor: a glossy black and white checkerboard pattern. (Note: black and pink brides might want to see The New Black & White Wedding.)

As for the cake? Black deco dots on a bright white canvas, or clean satin ribbons wrapped around the layers. And don't forget the bright pink signature drink: any take on Cosmos is bound to please.

A lovely spin on the pink and black look is a touch of toile: pink toile stationery topped with sleek black ribbons, or black toile table linens set off with hot pink satin napkins. Also, pink and black candy buffets serve up a sweet taste ... and a distinctively spunky look.

More Ultra-Popular Pink Schemes

Pink and Green Miami Spice. Deliciously Deco. Perfectly Preppy. Or just a natural choice for your spring or summer garden theme.

Picture your bridesmaids in mint green ruffled gowns, carrying sleek bouquets of pink and white mini callas. A snowstorm of pink petals on pale green linens: gorgeous. It's no wonder that that wonder that's pink and green is just starting to rev all the way up, with more brides finding themselves fans by the month.

Pink and Orange Depending on where you live, pink and orange (and all its cousins, like orange and fuchsia) might be practically classic, or delightfully daring. Pink and orange says "no fuss, no frills," and it's all about whimsy, color and clean lines. Pink and orange brides have cooked up all kinds of designs, but a Gerber daisy theme's among the most popular.

Pink and Brown — A less punky cousin of pink and black, this scheme combines two top-dog colors in today's wedding palette with gorgeous results. This is a hipster theme, calling for sassy stationery, big satin bows and grosgrain ribbons, funky polka dots or even modern paisleys.

And your flowers might be something a little left-of-center, too, like flaming pink orchids or Gerbers and bamboo. Somewhere in the process, pink and brown brides often find themselves a little torn between pink + brown or pink + aqua.

Erica I think you should go with the whole Pink and Green color combination its the perfect color scheme for a summmer may wedding you could do a romantic garden theme with lots of greenery and pink roses .Or do a summer fairytale theme with the pink and silver combo having your girls in pink ball gown style dresses holding silver princess wands or purses instead of bouquets and an aisleway lined with silver candleabras and pink rose petals on the ground the guys could wear black tuxes with silver tie and vest trim or white with silver trim .As for your opinioneted fiance try showing photos of your ideas to give him more insight on how things will look cut pictures out of magazines and print stuff off different web sights also go to David Bridals websight and view their design gallery for help with color combinations let me know what you think about my ideas so far? and also please read my last recent comment below and help me pick out a month for my fairytale wedding please !

I am getting married in October and I am doing Hot Pink, Brown and Lime Green. My maids are in hot pink dresses and my guys are in brown tuxes with hot pink ties and vests. each of my girls will carry one long stem ivory calla lily twired in hot pink and lime green wire, the guys will have one small ivory calla with a bit of hot pink and lime green wire twirled around it. My bouquet is all deep hot pinks and red flowers with a bit of purple statis. I will have hot pink wire and a bit of lime green wire twists coming out of my bouquet. My dress is ivory, but has the train and the very top (strappless) of my dress lined in hot pink. at the reception my centerpieces are choc. brown candles wrapped with a pink ribbon and a smaller lime green ribbon on top of a mirror. on the mirror I will put pink/green glitter. I will have hot pink rose petals on the tables and among the rose petals there will be small pieces of lime green curling ribbon. My cake is 4 round stacked layers, all hot pink, with lime green and brown polka dots on it in rolled fondent frosting. the top will be a bunch of pink and green twirly wires. I love these 3 colors together, elegant, but fun! anyone have any other ideas I could use?

I am wedding and events coordinator I love to come into this site and help future brides with their wedding idea struggles as you can see from my many advice comments . But now I need a little help I am happily engaged myself and in between planning other peoples weddings and starting my own catering and wedding planning business I too get a little bit stumped. we are planning a large wedding for about 150-200 guest For the year of 2009 at a Southern style fairytale Mansion in my home town i described my wedding in a long comment below but we changed the colors from pink and black to Pink ,Chocolate Brown ,and cream\ivory because my fiance and I are just in love with that new trendy color scheme we want the wedding in either the summer of June or the Fall of october which one would be better ? the color scheme goes with both but the problem is I love both .I love the idea of the chocolate Brown tones with the fall and the idea of fun shades of pink for the summer ? I have so many ideas for my wedding and the pink and brown color scheme . I mean we are even having a chocolate candy and chocolate Dessert Buffet and tons of pink flowers but which month and season should it be for I like the idea of fall and my fiance likes summer but hes willing to go with whatever i choose but any Suggestions would be nice HELP please?

To be honest thess I love the idea of Chocolate Brown and pink but im not sure how good it would look for the winter as a wedding and events coordinator i must say that chocolate Brown and Pink goes great with the spring, summer and fall trend not winter .Im not saying that it cant be done if you are going to use pink in the winter think icy frosty glamore light pink tones with sparkling icy silver accents or snowy white accents.or just do pink and white, princess pink and snow white.example for the ceremony decor use lots of pink and white flowers line the aisleways with silver lantern stands or silver candleobras to create a glowing warm feel for the reception pink and white table linens with a gass vase centerpiece filled with silver ornaments or glass marbles .thats my advice

Mellissa I’m happy that your colours are the same as mine. I want my man to be dressed in white tuxedo, white shirt and white shoes. A silver waistcoat and pink necktie.

What do you think?

Shalonda Since you are Having a Garden theme wedding name the tables after different flowers like the rose table the lily table or the pink rose table ,or name the tables after different shades of pinks like the pink blush table, the fushia table etc. But flowers has more names like tulips, lily, rose, gardenias etc.

Hi thess try using themes for your wedding Such as Pink Winter Wonderland or Pink winter fantasy . Use a Light pink blush and a darker tone of pink such as Hot pink or Pink Rose throw in a white accent for a snow affect or silver accent for a icy look remeber accent colors are used for ribbon trim for favors or floral bouquets, rose petals etc. its a background color that tones things down or makes things stand out but you dont have to use a accent color if you dont want but it does help and yes december is fine for a pink winter wedding its something different from the typical green and red christmas theme.please go exclusivelyweddings.com and request a free catalog to be mailed to you and view there website there are alot of pink ideas to choose from .

Hot pink matched with a lighter shade of pink is not too much pink on pink but a great idea would be trying to use a accent color such as white or silver to tone things down a bit an accent color is always great for things such as ribbon trim in wedding favors or floral bouquet ribbon, and table setting decor .

Hi Thess I am Wedding and Events Planner who comes to this website often to help those I can and to get ideas for my wedding in the summer of 2009 because we are planning a large affair and I have planned for many others hopfeully I can help you today. I Dont think that pink and blue are the best color combinations for a December wedding maybe a January wedding if you choose the right blue and the right pink such as light pink with a light icy blue with silver accents for a winter in wonderland feel but for December you should consider going with a pink and green if you are going to use pink in December or Pink and Platinum Silver for sparkle and a dreamy elegant winter feel .But not dark blue or aqua because aqua is more of a summer blue and light blue is more of icy winter blue .

Mic there are many colors to compliment pink and all of them can be very elegant if used right .Just like with my wedding although I chose black to compliment the pink it will only be used in certain areas such as the bridal party dress wear for a trendy classic look not a punk rock look and because I dont like black decorations my decor will be princess pink and silver for a sparkling Glamorous look .Chocolate Brown will definatley compliment pink its very elegant with a fun twist and chocolate Brown goes great with the fall go to Exclusivelyweddings.com to see more on pink and brown trends.
