Pink Theme Weddings
Ah, pink. Some say a woman's life-long love for pink is biological. Others say it's nothing more than sweet free will.
Either way, for many brides, a wedding isn't the lifelong dream it should be without a hefty dose of pink.
And while the hues we pair with it might change from year to year, pink at its core ... which says young love, playfulness and fresh-faced romance ... sends the same beloved message across the ages.
Still, even pink isn't immune to the forces that, over time, make weddings ever-more personal statements of our own individual design sensibilities ... and love stories.
So while some pink weddings hark back to fairy tales from once-upon-a-time, others are practically punk-rock (you won't see yards of tulle at your typical pink and black wedding). And then there are the unexpected pinks: the ethereal pink and silver, for example, that warm up a modern winter wonderland wedding.
In fact, while pink might not exactly be the new black, it might actually be the new 'neutral' — cozying up gorgeously with all kinds of colors, creating looks that range from demure to drama queen.

Pink on Pink, or Pink on White
This bride often loves the classic take on love, with plenty of pale pink rose petals to blanket the aisle. Bridesmaids' attire will probably be on soft side, with lovely sparkling brooches.
This bride might have pink winking out from her engagement ring in the form of pink sapphires, or even a JLo style pink diamond. The shoes might be oh-so-traditional bridal sandals, but sporting a perky bow and a tiny diamante stone — and we'll take bets that she's tracked down a pink satin garter for that leggy moment on the chair.
Her gown? All girl, possibly with elaborate lace overlays or a full ruched skirt. And the hair? We're guessing a half-up/half-down romantic tumble of locks.
Nothing's too feminine for this color scheme, so get out the pink marabou feathers for your chair backs, centerpiece vases or flower girls, go wild with the fluffiest pink poenies your florist can rustle up, wrap everything you can in romantic pink satin ribbons (bouquet stems, waists, pew cones) and don't forget some popular spins on ultra-pink: like the cherry blossom wedding. Want more of a garden look? Carry oversized bunches of bright pink tulips.
Pink and Black

This bride often leans toward bold graphic patterns (no fussy invites here!) ... and bold satin sashes. The bridesmaids' will probably be brightly attired, and you probably won't find her carrying a tight Cinderella posey of pastel roses, but something a little more fiery: hot pink cymbidium orchids, say, or a bouquet of Asiatic lilies. Pink anemones are eye-catching blooms, too, with their wild black centers.
Chances are, this bride's gown will belong to the Vera Wang school of slicked-down designs, and you might find some bright spots of color peeking out from under her gown: gorgeous bridal slingbacks in black or pink. Tabletop florals might be acid-bright clumps of chrysanthemums in a pavée design, or hydrangeas tipped to a deep and assertive hue. The perfect floor: a glossy black and white checkerboard pattern. (Note: black and pink brides might want to see The New Black & White Wedding.)
As for the cake? Black deco dots on a bright white canvas, or clean satin ribbons wrapped around the layers. And don't forget the bright pink signature drink: any take on Cosmos is bound to please.
A lovely spin on the pink and black look is a touch of toile: pink toile stationery topped with sleek black ribbons, or black toile table linens set off with hot pink satin napkins. Also, pink and black candy buffets serve up a sweet taste ... and a distinctively spunky look.
More Ultra-Popular Pink Schemes

Miami Spice. Deliciously Deco. Perfectly Preppy. Or just a natural choice for your spring or summer garden theme.
Picture your bridesmaids in mint green ruffled gowns, carrying sleek bouquets of pink and white mini callas. A snowstorm of pink petals on pale green linens: gorgeous. It's no wonder that that wonder that's pink and green is just starting to rev all the way up, with more brides finding themselves fans by the month.
Depending on where you live, pink and orange (and all its cousins, like
orange and fuchsia) might be practically classic, or delightfully daring. Pink and orange says "no fuss, no frills," and it's all about whimsy, color and clean lines. Pink and orange brides have cooked up all kinds of designs, but a
Gerber daisy theme's among the most popular.
Pink and Brown
A less punky cousin of pink and black, this scheme combines two top-dog colors in today's wedding palette with gorgeous results. This is a hipster theme, calling for sassy stationery, big satin bows and grosgrain ribbons, funky polka dots or even modern paisleys.
And your flowers might be something a little left-of-center, too, like flaming pink orchids or Gerbers and bamboo. Somewhere in the process, pink and brown brides often find themselves a little torn between pink + brown or pink + aqua.

Hi my wedding is April 18 2008 my colors are chocolate brown and tea rose pink from the Alfredo Angelo collection. I am having trouble with what flowers to use for me and my wedding party also my center pieces. If i went with a darker pink for flowers and the guys ties would tat be ok? where did you find this dress?
hey im having a sweet 15 and its gong to be fuschia black and white …. what do you think??? could yo send me photos of your ideas on those colors??? thank u so much
my wedding is in pink.my bridesmaids dresses are not the same but there pink.there bouquets are white and my reception is in al pink.my fiance dnt know what kind of boutineer to wear cause he wont wear pink what do you think.
For a pink and chocolate brown color scheme, what do the groomsmen wear?
Hi Trish, so many options! Depending on what the groomsmen will let you get away with!
Have a really cooperative bunch, look into chocolate brown tuxes with pink ties, very smart. Or let’s say they are MUCH more conservative. You can put them in something that doesn’t seem to match, like a black tux and a neutral waistcoat/tie (a pearly, neutral gray is great here) and because of the neutrality, they will form a handsome background to your color scheme without taking away from it at all.
Of course, if they will go chocolate, any of those brown-on-brown combos (choc tux, mocha vests/ties) will also look great. HTH!
Oh, and taupe guys with choc brown bridesmaids — very fresh!
Does anyone have any pics of pale pink with navy? How about navy and chartreuse? I can’t decide between these combos/
I am helping plan a cousins Quinceanera. It is not until next May. So I have started buying decorations(all my responsibility) I am getting balloons from http://www.promnite.com(144ct for around 20 bucks plus shipping and handling) and I am doing feather vases and the lowest eiffel tower vases i could find were at http://www.flowersandsupplies.com. Her colors are turquoise and lime green, and her theme is butterflies. I wanted to know where to get some white butterflies so that i could paint them her colors and sprinkle in glitter. I need alot so anything would help. And i also got an idea to do a candy buffet from some of the comments I read on this website.
I made these butterflies myself-im sure yall can tell-but i plan to cover the obvious splotches of hot glue with glitter. there are some candle holders at http://www.lacrafts.com or http://www.saveoncrafts.com cant remember which has pink if in fact those are the right websites

To Beth with the Fuschia, Black and White Sweet Sixteen. YOu can find rice paper lanterns at http://www.lunabazaar.com
You can get solid colored napkins and table ware at http://www.papermart.com, as well as some wire handle boxes(chinese takeout) in different colors for a good price.
Does anyone know where I can find cute favor boxes maybe with pink and black polka dots or pink and silver… anything like that would be great. My color scheme is hot pink/fuschia, black and silver.
Is gray and pink a perfect combination? I would love to have it as my theme n my wedding.
Khristene,
Gray is one of my favorite colors! And, with it being so up-and-coming I suspect pink and gray will be huge over the next few years (but you did it first)
I love the urban feel of gray, it’s so city, almost Scandinavian, and so delicate and dreamy when you pair it with pale pinks. When you add in the ruffled organza and peonies, the lace overlays and vintage stationery scrolls, you have a look that is very Degas, a look that is hard to pull off with weddings but seems pretty effortless with this palette.
Here are a few inspiration boards that really go to town on pink & gray, if you haven’t seen these already they should make for great browsing!
These boards are by In This Instance, Minted, Elizabeth Anne Designs (click links to see full boards)
I think peach and green are natural choices for adding little pops and accents to this palette.
I’m planning a garden themed wedding for September 2008. Time is short and I’m starting to think that my original color scheme may be too much. I am going with pale (not pastel) pink and chocolate brown with a hint of green (sage). I have tons of ribbon and Save the dates have been sent out with those colors. Dresses are pink with chocolate brown sashes. I can’t figure out how to work in the green with the tuxedos that will make it work with the dresses. I was thinking of green vests and ties for the tuxedos and the bridesmaids will carry bouquets with lots of green in them…would that work? Or should i eliminate the green with the dresses and tuxedos and just let the ‘garden’ play the green role?
Desiree, I think that you should just let the green play as a background\accent color and keep the green with the whole garden theme like with the bridemaids bouquets, floral arrangements, and boutineers, and any ribbon accents you may have and keep your bridal party dressed in your 2 main colors the pink and brown.
my wedding is on dec. 6 of this year and we were wanting a black and white wedding maybe even checkered or polka dots. I need help im so lost and i dont know if i will be able to make our dream wedding happen so if anyone has any ideas please send them to me at

Hi Leaha! Just black & white? Or black & white and pink? If #2, check out the pink, black & white polka dot bridal shower comment below and be sure to click on the slideshow link to see the whole thing.
But if you’re talking just black & white, check out our Black & White weddings page & see if that doesn’t help. If it doesn’t, ask questions!
‘Kay, we have a lot of pink & black brides here! I was going to try to point out some great inspiration boards, but I didn’t really find many in pink & black that flipped my skirt. So instead here are some pics I scratched up on my own that seemed pretty helpful. I skipped the cakes because cakes are so easy to find … table ideas, harder!
Top to bottom, L to R – Row 1. Pink & Black Real Wedding, Style Me Pretty. Pics 2 & 3 — really, really thorough pink & black inspiration board by cupcake butt. I think almost everyone will find something to like here. Pink & Black real wedding, Brooke & Jason, photographed by Anne Ruthman.
Row 2. Kansas City wedding party by Moda di Magno. Homemade chocolate-dipped shortcake favors on black feather trim + great pink & black bouquet by Gigi & Big Red. Elaborate tables and wedding party, Battaglia & Griffen, from Inside Weddings.
Row 3. Asian-inspired celebrity wedding from InStyle Weddings. Chic black & white bouquet, plus Cameo & Black wedding theme by Martha (love the bouquet wrap ribbon in this series).
A few more. Lucia, you said you were thinking polka dots or patterns, so I grabbed a few. The top row was originally green/brown or pink/green … which looked a bit odd, so I gave it that dorky pink screen.
Row 1: Polka dot seating cards and favor boxes, Brides. Polka-dotted bridesmaid gowns and graphical cake, Beth & Kenny in San Francisco, TheKnot. Row 2: Children’s Museum Gala, BBJ Linens. Awesome "Paris Birdcage" favor tags, Digital Paperie@Etsy. And finally, two really cool pink/black inspiration boards I came across after almost giving up hope by Snippet & Ink: the first one, pale blush pink and black (very Parisian); the second, Punk Rock love. These are great.
Hi ladies, wanted to share this cute pink tabletop with charming ‘drowning’ tulips captured by tracyhunter
Hi, I just wanted to know where I could get the cute pink tabletop with charming “˜drowning’ tulips that was captured by tracyhunter?
I’m looking for the round pink voltive candle holders used by Tracy Hunter in her picture
Dana, definitely check out this VERY stylish baby shower with a zebra theme put together by super-genius planner Amy @ Stem. It will totally reinvigorate you if you were starting to feel discouraged.
Here’s just a little more zebra wedding inspiration. Top to bottom, L to R…
1) Chic hot pink & zebra tea party, bingnessa. 2) Visually delicious kreation by KakesByKaren. 3) Cupcakes by net celeb Kylie Lambert.
1) Safari-style cake captured by WatchWhatHappens. 2) Gorgeous "Zoolyweds" cake table. 3) Custom zebra-theme invite by orehlrig.
Hi Dana, that invite is by Andrea Glockner, and she has an Etsy store here with some really intriguing stuff! Here’s a few more of hers with some pink. Plus, go here to see more of the original zebra-theme invite.
This is a cake for a sweet 16 birthday, however, what do you think about using it for a wedding cake?
Dana … in my mind that cake belongs to the class of “birthday cakes that are so sophisticated and $$$ that they’re indistinguishable from wedding cakes.”
Any, zebra is HOT right now, and that cake is just cool. of course I already had a soft spot for that chunky fondant/geometric/new boho type of cake!!
Dana, I found this cake, not sure if you like it but it was cute.
I actually have seen that cake & have it in my file as one of my options! I have so many cakes, just nothing else.
Dana, got one more for you … check out this Pink Zebra theme event at BBJ linens. Don’t forget to click on “ADDITIONAL EVENT PHOTOS” so you can see the long shot of all the chair covers and florals.
I’m having my wedding in three months and my colors are black and fuschia. I don’t want it to be all just fuschia and black what can I do to make it look a little nicer and elegant?
Lucia,
You could add some orange flowers in your floral bouquets, or you could accent you wedding and reception with silver to make it more elegant. Are your bridesmaid dresses fuchsia or black?
Christian,
I did forget to mention that I am using silver as the accent color but I haven’t really used it much in very many things. My bridesmaids are wearing fuschia with black (the black is ify still…) the MOH’s (I have 2) are wearing black with fuschia or maybe just black… I really like the idea about putting orange in my bouquet. I’m just a visual person so I need to see it. Here’s a picture of what my bouquet is going to look like except in a brighter/hot pink. What do you think?
Hi Lucia I think your bouquet is going to be very nice and vibrant in color and to help you out I like the idea of your bridesmaids in fushia with hints of black and your maid of honors in full on black it would also look nice to have your bridesmaids in just fushia and your maids of honors in black with fushia or fushia with black but my favorite would be to have your bridesmaids in fushia and maids of honor in fushia with accents of black so that way they all look elegant and well coordinated but the black accents will set the maids of honors apart .
Christian, I really like the idea about orange in the bouquet. I’m not too fond of roses so I’m using lillies and some fillers. My bouquet is going to be the same as the photo except in pinks most likely hot bright pinks. I forgot to mention that I am using silver as an accent color. I just haven’t managed to use it very much. The bm’s are going to wear fuschia and the MOH (I have 2) will be wearing Black.
You have a pretty bouquet. I think that orange will make the bouquet “Pop.” My bridesmaids are wearing fuchsia dresses with fuchsia and orange bouquets. I am using tiger and calla lilies with some fillers in it. Silver is my accent color, but I haven’t used it too much either. I had thought about adding silver maybe to my favors or something like that. I had thought about doing black dresses for the bridesmaids, but I wanted to have a lot of color so I decide to have them in fuchsia instead of black. The groomsmen will be in black tuxedos with fuchsia vests and ties underneath. My husband to be is in a black tuxedo with all white underneath.
Christian,
First off sorry for posting that last comment so many times it kept giving me an error message.
When is your wedding? How are you setting up your reception area do you know yet? I’ve had a hard time finding ideas online so if anyone finds any that they could share that would be great. Thank you.
Hello Lucia,
My reception will be set up with round tables with white tablecloths and fuchsia table toppers on top of the white tableclothes. I am having floral arrangements in the center that are in short vases. The vases are sitting on mirrors. Either roses will be sprinkled around the base of the vase or tea light candles. I am going to have menu cards at each place setting. The wedding party table will have a white table cloth with a fuchsia runner down the middle.
Christian,
That sounds pretty. I am trying to do something different but it seems like what I’m doing is also being done by some other brides who have gotten married in the past few months. I also wanted to do a candy bar but my friend just did one so I really don’t want to take her idea. I need something else to spice up my reception. I need ideas for centerpieces! I’m running low.
Hi Lucia some great different ideas aside from having a candy bar would be to do a dessert station just have a table set up with cute finger friendly desserts such as mini cupcakes ,cookies, bite size brownies, mini cheesecakes to name a few, or rent a cotton candy machine and do pink cotton candy for the guest ,or do a chocolate fondue fountain with trays of fruit and marshmellows for dipping .
Lucia,
I’m having fuschia and black also. We are adding white as an accent color. Our guest tables are black silk with fuschia rose petals all over them and then we have heart shaped glass bowls with heart shaped floating candles. Then our cake, food, gift, and wedding party tables are white with black and pink rose petals.
The BM bouquets are a light pink and dark pink. Then mine is dark pink, light pink, and white. (Daisies)
Angie,
One of our centerpieces is almost like your heart bowl but instead it’s the garden bowl with tea lights and a hot pink daisy to throw it off. We are using black tablecloths with fuchsia runners and ½ fuchsia tablecloths with black runners. We are also having black chair covers with pink bows.
The BM bouquets are calla lilies with
I need help! My wedding is August 23rd and I’m unsure of my wedding colors. At first I wanted sage or celedon green and pink, but now I’m thinking of chocolate & pink or fuchsia & orange. Any suggestions?
Ashley,
My first choice for my wedding was pink and chocolate. My fiance’ said that chocolate was a no go for him. I am currently having fuchsia and orange as my colors. Fuchsia is my main color with fuchsia and orange flowers. The bridesmaids are wearing fuchsia dresses with fuchsia and orange bouquets. The guys are wearing black tuxedos with fuchsia ties and vests underneath. I just ordered my invitations and they are so cute to me. Either way you do it, it will be very pretty. Pink and green is also a good combination. Hot pink is a popular color this year too. I don’t think you can go wrong with pink and any combination.
I’m looking to do a pink and crystal wedding. Any ideas?
Are there any wedding colors with a pink and blue theme? Please need help….Thanks!
Hi Sigourney, I just ran across a cute one this morning — check out Betty & Josh in Malibu at Brides.com.
You might also find some ideas posting or reading on our aqua blue weddings page … HTH!
HOT black & pink wedding alert! Awesome detail pics — see Chad & Caroline!
I have decided to have fuchsia pink as my wedding color with the bridesmaids in fuchsia dresses and the groomsmen in black tuxedos with fuchsia vests and ties underneath. My flowers are fuchsia and orange calla and tiger lillies. Do yall think that all of this will be pretty? What color should the groomsmen’s boutonierres be? I want to use calla lily flowers, but all I can find are white calla lillies (I am not using real flowers). Will white calla lillies be ok for the groomsmen? Thank you for all of your opinions and advice.
im havin HOT PINK 4 my wedding and i cant find that color in the disposable cameras, they are all baby pink, can anyone help!!!!
Lindsey — I have a ton of pink & brown photos I haven’t organized yet (my bad!) … in the meantime, here are a few really nice ones!
Whether to put the girls in pink or brown is entirely up to you; it’s a very different look either way. Many brides choose the complementing sash (brown sash with pink dress & vice versa).
HI, does anyone have any suggestions about a pink and brown wedding. I don’t know what to do. Should I have my girls wear pink with brown or brown with pink. If anyone has pictures of a pink and brown wedding that would be lovely. I would love to see them. Open to suggestions. HELP!
Hey Ladies!!!… So im having a little problem, My fiance and I chose Pool Blue, Fuchsia Pink, And Ivory as our wedding colors(because he LOVES blue in every shade, Pink is my favorite color and Ivory is our attire colors) The only thing is, Im really not feeling this color combo… Can anyone help me out or give me an opinion on what could make this situation better. PLEASE & THANK YOU!
Hi Ki Ki I agree with you that the color combo is way too much and doesnt really match well together a great idea would be to have your bridal party in Pool blue and ivory and your wedding flowers in Pale pink and ivory if you have your bridesmaids in pool blue dresses with their bouquets maid up of pink and ivory roses that would look nice and if you just prefer to have fushia use it as a accent color like with the ribbon around the bouquets or a mix of pale pink and fushia ,and ivory roses for bouquets and centerpieces but I would leave out the fushia and go with a lighter shade of pink or even a darker pink like tea rose pink just not bright bold fushiaso that way you can still incorporate your favorite color along with his hope this helps let me know what you think?
Kiki, I agree with Tabitha. I think that light pink bouquets would look nice with the pool blue, but the fuchsia may be too much. My color is fuchsia with fuchsia bridemaids dresses and fuchsia and orange bridesmaids bouquets. Fuchsia is a pretty color, but it is a little too bold to go with pool blue. Pool Blue and a lighter pink would be very pretty. Good Luck on the planning. I know it can get nerve-wracking.
Thanks Tabitha & Christian for all your help!…
Kiki, i am doing pool blue for my wedding and i found that blue/purple hydrageas look WONDERFUL!!!
Hi!
Can anybody tell me what the closest shade to “Tiffany Blue” is? I’m hearing that Aqua and Robin’s Egg blue are the closest, But are there any others? Please help! Im open. THANKS!!!
Hi Ki Ki colors that are close to Tiffany Blue are Pool blue from Davids Bridal and Alfred Angelo bridesmaid website Aqua,Robins Egg and maybe even Turquoise or Teal blue can match up to Tiffanys blue.
Hi Kiki, check out these posts on this exact topic, they will help a LOT!
Hello!…. Im looking for a LIST of colors that go well with Fuschia pink!.. It seems like all suggestions are the same, everyone is picking Orange, Brown, Black, Green… But I always shy away from those colors 8-| I dont wanna sound extra picky or ungrateful, But at the same time, I need to choose colors that are bright, summery and sure to stand out! I know all the brides can relate to this feeling ( its our wedding day and we just want it to be as BEAUTIFUL as possible :P:? ) Anyways,
My wedding day is July 19th, 08 and its outdoors and early morning… Im still open to all suggestions! Please help with any colors you can think of.. Thanks!:D
Andrea,
I am getting married May of 09 and I am doing a Marie Antoinette inspired wedding.(Think the Kirsten Dunst movie.) My colors are going to be mainly fushia, light pink, and Robins egg blue with small hints of mint, lavender and gold. It sounds like an aweful lot, but used in moderation I think these colors are going to be fabulous. These are a couple of inspiration pictures for these colors.
I am the MOH and I am planning a pink themed bridal shower. Does anyone have any suggestions on cake or decorations?
Hi Gina — this should be fun! Some decor ideas … :-?
Set up a small drink station with pink champagne, cosmos in martini glasses with pink sugar rims, or beautifully bottled French lemonade (Lorina or Le Village, available at any upscale grocery store).
Tuck a few pink blooms with lots of mass (peonies, hydrangea) in silver mint julep cups. Surround with some rose petals (again, cheaply had at some grocery stores/flower shops). OR, make a line down the middle of your table with single pink or coral gerbers in a row of tiny glass cylinders.
Use pink boa trim, which was MADE for bridal showers! If you can get elastic, even easier. Wrap pink marabou trim around pillar candles, votives, stems of champagne glasses, small square flower vases wrapped in raw silk or interesting graphic papers.
Serve beautiful pink macaroons, stacked with other inviting colors (orange, brown, green).
Stack up a display tree with cupcakes topped with heaps of pink fluffy frosting.
Hang paper lanterns in pink and one other accent color (or white) inside, if your ceilings are tall, or from the entrance/porch.
Here’s a fun pink & green bridal shower by a super-creative gal: Messaround’s Bridal Shower
Finally, a few pics! First, some pretty elaborate goodies: a lovely cake by CakeItUp, and a magnificent cupcake tower by Pink Cake Box.
Last, a picture that I think really shows how even simple decorations can look *great* if you tip off your girls and ask them to sort of be part of the decor by wearing pink. This works best for a small, intimate shower.
And one more thing — incredible pink & black bridal shower! You have to see the whole slideshow, it’s amazing.
Love:
the ornate boudoir-style cookie favors …
the black piping and pink feathers on that wedding-worth cake.
hot-pink and coral florals with peacock accents in BLACK urns on satin-draped pedestals! Wow!
The insanely chipper hot pink patio umbrellas.
The black & white dotted grosgrain ribbons & fabrics …
And, the guests in their color-coordinated hats just push it over the top.
These next pics are from a GORGEOUS pink & black wedding! The flowers (mainly roses + hydreangeas) used all the pinks, from pastel to hot, plus a range of creams and whites.
Wide and narrow ribbon in pink, hot pink and black dressed up vases, pillar candles, guestbooks and cake, and fluttered down from the venue’s chandeliers (black iron, fitting perfectly into the mod/Parisian look). The black chivari chairs also really POPPED against the pastel pink linens and supported that hint of a turn-of-the-century feel.
The bridesmaids wore black strapless gowns with wide contrasting sashes (some white, some pink) and carried bouquets of roses (again, pale and hot pink) wrapped with long ribbons that matched their sashes. Outside, the patio was decorated with pink and white paper lanterns … just lovely. Hope this helps spark some ideas …
Some pics for pink & black brides! First, some cake, because you can never look at too many cakes.
I think these pics really get across the Frenchie, ‘ooh la la’ feeling that pink & black so easily takes on. It’s hard to beat pink & black for chic appeal.
Pink and Black goes very well together. I was going to do pink and white, but decided against that because I wanted something more bold. My bridesmaid dresses are hot pink, and the groomsmen will wear black tuxedos with hot pink vests and ties. My dress is white, so my fiance is wearing all white under his black tuxedo. My flowers are different shades of pink. I am using tiger lillies, calla lillies, and roses for my flowers. You are totally right, Erika, that pink and black can be done in many ways. Good Luck to you.
