A Pink & Green Wedding

Brides who want a fresh and trendy look for the sunny months are flocking to pink and green in droves. And that's no surprise: for many of us, these two hues are pretty much the ultimate when it comes to a look that's playful and contemporary, feminine yet still flexible enough to fit ten subtly different moods.

But wait: didn't pink once belong to girly-girl brides who had to go by the book?

Even if that was ever the case, today's revved-up pink and green are modern dynamos, urging each other on to ever-higher heights.

Don't get us wrong, pink and green doesn't have to be all about setting new trends. Play it softly, and you have a classic English garden theme you might find in your mother's wedding album (one that you're sure to still swoon over!).

But this combo can also drive you to color outside the box. Which is why you see brides turning up the heat with greens like lime or honeydew, and pinks that border on fuchsia. In short, you can take these two anywhere: from Newport Beach to Negril and everywhere in between.

This theme calls for some true guilty pleasures when it comes to blooms and other flora: pink peonies or zingy tulips, blushing roses or stargazer lilies; and for green, kermit mums, cymbidium orchids and hypericum berries, small green apples or zesty limes.

Ribbon and ties tend to play a big role in this wedding, too, from bridesmaids' gowns to chair sashes. On the modern side, you might also find citrus fruit piled up in clear eiffel vases, or polka dots that jazz up the bridesmaid or flower girl attire. Tea-length gowns are popular for the 'maids in this warm-season wedding. So are fun, casual touches like cafe-style menus done in pink and green chalk, or candy buffets filled with treats for both the eye and the palette, in pink and chartreuse.

Tell Us About Your Pink & Green Wedding

What posed your biggest challenge: picking the right shade of green? Did you settle on citrus, peridot, celadon or something altogether different? Pink for the bridesmaids, or did you dream up some kind of clever combo, involving flirty pastel sashes?

    I was wondering if you know where I can find some ideas for my wedding? This is what I’m thinking…. Soft pink bridesmaids dresses with accents of jade, tan vest and pants for the groomsmen with jade ties, and the groom and i will be accenting ourselves with peacock feather’s in our hair. Sounds kinda wierd i’m sure but the vision I have in my head is gorgeous. I don’t want a whole peacock themed wedding, just some accents here and there. Help!!!!

    Hi.
    I’m from Malaysia.I plan to have a wedding near the lakes..it will probably be at nite since it is very hot in the afternoon.Do u have any colour suggestions?The wedding will be somewhere in May/June 2011.TQ

    • Stacey@FavorIdeas

      inamarsha,
      do you have a venue link or pic? If you are having an evening wedding I suggest light colors or colors like hot pinks etc. Those that tend to show up well, blues and purples will look grey at night and fade into the background, unless you have great lighting.

    Hi Stacey,

    I am having a really hard time choosing my colors for my Spring wedding. I am getting married in May 2011 and my venue is all white with hard wood floors located on a black water river. I kinda call it the “new” rustic look. I keep going back and forth between pale pink and champagne with green accents, black and white with hot pink and apple green accents, and purple, pink, and green. I want it to be more traditional than modern. I really want it to be romantic with lots of candles, flowers and greenery, and twinkling lights. I have attached a few pictures of my venue. Can you suggest a color scheme that would go best with this venue and allow me to keep the look I want while still making it look springlike? Thanks!

  13. angie

  17. serena

    hi i’m having my wedding on 9/24/11 in lake tahoe, CA. The ceremony is on the terrace and the reception is in the crystal room if you look at the link for the venue. I want to do pink and green for my colors. I think fuchsia and lime green. The venue has a lot of white or ivory depending on which i choose and i don’t know which would look best?? I need a lot of help coming up with ideas. I know i want to have the bridesmaids in pink dresses with green flowers. Pls help :idea: :?

    Thanks, serena

    • Stacey@FavorIdeas

      Serena,
      Beautiful place. ivory with fuschia and green would give it a less crisp much softer look, where white will give a more crisp decor. It depends on the style your after. Both would look beautiful. I love the chairs in the venue. I am heavily leaning toward ivory.
      * loads of pics
      * with brown and ivory

      • serena

        Thank you Stacy. I love the chairs also. I was wondering if you have any ideas for center pieces and flowers??? The venue comes with the table cloths and the venue says they can set the tables for me but it needs to be ready to just be put onto the table. I want to add color to the table because like i said it’s white or ivory and one of my girlfriends is going to help so it’s set correctly but i could use ideas.

        thanks

    Hi stacey,

    I’m getting married next year July 08, 2011, And my motif is apple green and fushia pink with atouch of royal blue but the dominant color is apple gree. Is it nice combination also? What do you think and I dont have any wedding theme at the moment for my reception, can you give me any idea?Thanks

    • Stacey@FavorIdeas

      Charity,
      It is a great combo together. Could I see a pic or link to your venue? Also a great place other than thelocation is what you and your fh like. usually the style the couple loves becomes the theme. If you could tell me a couple things I could look into that. it coudl be a fave movie, era, place, or personal style, etc.

      • charity

        thanks for the reply stacey… It takes away all my worries if this color combination will work. By the way our reception will be in a hotel its an indoor and until now I can’t think anything for the theme, Is it really needed? :D

        • Stacey@FavorIdeas

          Charity,
          A theme is not necessary. Just go with what you both love and make it flow together. In vintage weddings there were no such thing as themes. It was just decorated in the brids chosen colors. But if you wanted something to tie in you could do something as simple as a monogram on invites, programs, cake, bouquet ribbon, etc.

        • charity

          Thanks a lot, By the way one more thing, can you give me any idea for the flowers, what flower I will use as my bouquet, for the entourage, for the bridal car and the center piece, that suite with my motif coz the supplier is already asking me but I can’t give any right now. maybe if you can give me any link or pictures it will be much appreciated. Thanks and More power to you.

        • Stacey@FavorIdeas

          Charity,
          Orchids and roses are nice. it would really depend on the floral budget. Hydrangeas are another beautiful flower and come in an array of shades. This could be a shade of blue for the wedding. I would talk to my supplier for some great suggestions. The great thing about green orchids is they have a fuschia colored center. You could pull the blue in with vases or in some writing on the programs.
          *bouquet
          Actually this site has alot of bouquets you can search by color.

    Okay, people. I need all the help I can get. I am having a pink & green wedding August of next year. I don’t want to over do it with either color so any ideas you have would be great! I need help with everything! I don’t have any pictures of the church or the reception area, yet. Also, I would like my MOH to be in pink & the bridesmaid to be in green. The Groom is going to be in white, don’t know what color vest for him or the groomsmen. Bring on the ideas! Thanks!!

  20. Cielo

    hi there. im planning to use pink green and ivory / pearl in my wedding in Oct 2012. Actually Im planning to use, green and ivory/ pearl as the main color and pink just to accentuate. but my wedding isnt a day wedding. is it still okay? What shades of green and pink shoud I use? Please help

    • stacey@favor ideas

      Cielo,
      Absolutely! Sage and fuschia pink would be nice. Or you could keep the colors light to show up well at night. Make sure there is great lighting or even pinlighting. :D To make it really pop. If you went with simple green and white onthe decor you could pull in pink pinlighting around the room. It would look magical with votives everywhere! Do you have a pic or link of your venue? So I can see which shades go well?

    I am loving all this pink and green!! I am getting married next June and having a hot pink and green wedding. I want the girls to wear hot pink, but want to incorporate green as well! I’m not sure what to put the guys in—I really like the suits with green, but will it not be enough if the girls flowers aren’t all green?? HELP please! :)

    • Stacey@FavorIdeas

      Nicole,
      I would do pink and green florals.
      *like these
      * loads of pics here

      • Stacey@FavorIdeas

        Nicole,
        * florals

        • Stacey@FavorIdeas

          Nicole,
          *WOW

          You could easily have the guys in black with pink and green striped ties. I think the green would look good then have the pink and green boutonniere or a neat pink/green pocket square.

    • lindsey

      Put the girls in your pink dresses… then a green sash that maybe is pinned in place with faux pearls. The guys wear green vest and/or ties, the groom wears white or a champagne color. Make the flowers for the girls more pastel colors of pink with splashes of hot pink and maybe a few stems of a green flower. As for the guys, do the same with their flowers, if wearing any. A simple calla lilly with a pink wrapping the stem will look stunning on their tux’s. Good luck!
