Firefighter Theme Weddings

Where to start when planning a firefighter wedding? How about the black, red, yellow and brass of firefighter regalia and firetrucks. See if you can marry in the fire hall, ideally with a firetruck as your transportation to the ceremony, or as your getaway car.

Check your local prop shop, who might be able to rent you special items to add zing to your decor. What could be more romantic than strolling down an aisle lined with flower and tulle-draped hydrants?

For high drama, walk underneath an arch of pike poles held by the groomsmen (donning full dress blues) after the officiant declares you husband and wife.

Cake & Cake Toppers

Fortunately, firefighter cake toppers aren't hard to find. Try JW Caketops or Colorado Carla.

As for the cake itself, your choices are endless. Gorgeous possibilities: a red velvet cake hidden in demure white icing. Or consider a sleek white cake with crisp bands of red satin ribbon, or a cake topped with orange/rust calla liles.

Want a more whimsical approach? We've seen a traditional white cake topped by a traditional white bride, with a ladder leading down the cake to the fire truck in front.

As for the groom's cake, popular choices include fire trucks, helmets, badges, dalmations and the Maltese Cross.

Setting the Scene

Many firehalls are built with gorgeous neo-classical flair. If yours is, bring the feel to your reception hall by renting grand fluted pillars for the corners of the room.

Look for table linens with a reflective quality. Shimmering yellow fabric on white linen is luxurious. Go whimsical by edging one or two table coverings in reflective tape.

A few types of flowers seem tailor-made for this event: roses, and callas. Both come in fire-tinged shades, starting with yellow or orange and reddening at the tips. Tie bunches of these with tulle swags for gorgeous pews, then tie off the center aisle with caution tape.

For placecards, look for firefighter-related ornaments (hydrants, dalmations, Maltese Crosses or buy Matchbox-style fire trucks. Wrap attractive copper or silver wire around the middle of the ornament, then bring up and form into a simple coil to create your own placecard holders.

Sew or glue firefighter charms to your ringbearer pillow, candles, ribbons, guest book, cake serving set, and bridal bag.

Borrow a friend's Dalmation and draft him into service. Or if you want to stick with the two-footed type, give him a pillow with a Maltese emblem or firefighter charm. Alternative: have two more ringbearers walk up the aisle with torchlights.

Lean aerial ladders against the walls, and link them together with dramatic swags of tulle. Use a shiny pair of firefighter boots as a "wishing well" or a floral vase for your guestbook table. Spice up the afterparty (and picture ops) by slipping on a shorter, saucy dress — at at least for a few minutes, a firefighter helmet with a veil.

The Spice of Life

Want to add some zip to your dinner? Try hot dogs with five-alarm chili, habanero sauce, firehouse stew, flame-broiled steaks or chicken, Autumnal Fire beer. Or go for the traditional fare but serve eye-catching signature drinks like red apple martinis (apple vodka, apple juice and grenadine syrup).

Sizzling Ideas for Favors

Favors for this one are simple — and cute. Start with a crisp favor box you'll tie off with a contrasting ribbon (red and white, yellow and white, chocolate brown and red). Then, fill with tongue-in-cheek treats like like Atomic Fireballs, Hot Tamales, Red Hots or candy fire extinguishers. Or set out these items in a red, white and yellow candy buffet.

Other possibilities: rolls of Lifesavers (get it?), personalized hot sauce, personalized barbeque sauce, or miniature flashlights on keychains.

Music to Their Ears

Call up your local Scottish/Irish musicians for live bagpipes at your wedding. Also, consider the Backdraft Soundtrack, the Ladder 49 Soundtrack, and The Rising by Bruce Springsteen.

Other ideas:

"Believe" by YellowCard
"Into the Fire" by Dokken
"Standing Outside the Fire" and "When You Come Back to Me Again" by Garth Brooks
"The Fireman" by George Strait
"Fireman's Prayer" by Plainfolk
"Ring of Fire" by Johnny Cash
"Burning Down the House" by The Talking Heads

You have have a cheap yet beatifull wedding! If you have friends or family who are good at somethings, such as flowers, or a good cook, someone who knows a thing or two about weddings (help walk people down the aile) also, if you know anyone who can do music. these are all things that will cut cost down, and most are more then willing to help. Dresses (try discount racks) or there are some second hand stores who have brand new dresses- who cares if its not brand new, no one will know ;)
umm, if you want more pictures, just email back- leave you email address and we can chat.

Hi Everyone!
We are getting married this Thursday, November 12, 2009! Our wedding if firefighter themed. I would be happy to share my ideas and photos. Our entire wedding cost $4500. We found great deals online including Sams, the dollar store and e-bay. This is a second marriage for both of us but none-the-less, we’re pulling off a great party! If I can be on any help, just let me know!

My husband and I (he’s a firefighter) used plastic fire helmets with LED battery operated tea light candles inside them as centerpieces. Very awesome looking and kept the room to a romantic dim…

I haven’t quite figured out how to use this web site to post stuff, but I just had a firemans wedding. And it was BEAUTFULL! Better then I thought it would be. Our colors were mostly white and red, but there were hints of yellow and orange. They man who marryed us wore a firemans tie, with this uniform. Our party favors were the fire jelly belly. See pictures. we had an axe to cut the cake, didn’t turn out the way we thought it would- but it also wasn’t a firemans axe, we didn’t get it ordered in time. Need any help just let me know.

We used jelly bellys, and we just used tooling??? Not sure if thats the spelling, ill add a picture- but its pretty cheap, just kinda time consuming. Go to a store (one that has bulk items) and you should find candy, depending on what your store sells will kinda depend on what you use.

What do you think about having a barbecue style meal for a firefighter theme wedding reception. Thinking of hamburgers, pork burgers, hot dogs, potatoe salad and chips. Or maybe barbecued pulled pork and burgers with sides like potatoe salad, baked beans, cole slaw and chips

Hi, I’m Vol firefighter and so is my husband, and we are both in the same dept and we want to do the firefighter theme wedding. But we are looking for some ideas for where the bridal party table should have on it or around it. Our colors are green and white to go with our department trucks. If anyone has any ideas for us, we would love the advice. We want to put our helmets on the table in front us and have his groomsmen have their helmets but only one of my bridesmaid is a firefighter and my finace’s brother isn’t a firefighter so he doesn’t have a helmet…any ideas?

I am having a firefighter themed wedding on July 24, 2010. I am doing Navy Blue, White, as our main colors and silver red and yellow as our accent colors. We found great firefighter themed invites on Invitations By Dawn, they are beautiful. I am having trouble figuring out table center pieces. I found really cute wooden firetrucks online, they are vintage firetrucks, does anyone think they would look tacky?

Hi Becky I have been researching things for a firefighter wedding as well, I have been having trouble with some ideas too, but I think vintage firetrucks would be a great center piece. I think I am using helmets with flowers around them. The one other reason I am commenting is that my wedding is also July 24th 2010, if you would like to share ideas please feel free to email me at ltlprincess0103@aol.com

well my daddy has been a firefighter since i was 12, and my mom was one as well from when i was 5, swore i would never marry a fireman…. but then i fell for my best friend since kindergarden, and he is a fireman, even better in a little town called Golden WHERE WE MET! cheesy right? so I know getting a truck wont be a big deal, i am just unsure how i feel about it! I am doing 98% white with splashes of red. we are standing with my best friend and his brother, thats it, my 4 year old son, and my 2 year old niece are doing flowers/rings. I found a nice white dress for my niece and i think i will put my son in a shirt that says KEEP BACK 200 FEET. I am wearing a simple white cotton dress (this is a VERY casual wedding) hubby is wearing his dress uniform. maid of honor is wearing red, and unsure what to put best man in (NO tuxes, maybe a golden fire shirt???) I am using jars with flowers as my center pieces but i will add fire flare. I am unsure where i stand on a cake topper yet. and i LOVE LOVE LOVE the lifesaver idea for favors! any one else got an idea? vote? ect? i’d love to hear from anyone and see pics!!! you can email me at niki_po_potamus@yahoo.com :) thank you and congrats to everyone else!!!!!!!!!!

I am getting married in July 2009. I am a firefighter and my fiance is a police officer. We are doing a themed fire/police wedding. Our colors are red for fire dept. and navy for police. I am having a difficult time for center pieces and decorations. Any help greatly appreciated. I have searched all over the internet and can find lots of firefighter things, very difficult to find police items.

One thing you have to do is to focus on the main Theme and impliment the other into your theme. Say the you can find fireman items just have the police theme at the entrance like someone dress as a police at the door of the reception, yellow tape taping off a scene with police items. Get the idea think about firemen and police being at a crime scene with a fire.

Ann, a cute idea I’ve seen is to incorporate donuts in some way … maybe a donut “cake”, see google images for ideas, or sometimes couples will hand out the two-packs of krispey kremes at the end of the night … just an thought!

Another idea for centerpieces, if you want to really keep the theme but keep it classy, is collect some nice looking police badge replicas and firefighter medallions. I would get some matching glass vases from the dollar store and hot-glue a satin ribbon around them (red or navy) and hot-glue the badges to the vase over that, mixing up your police and firefighter emblems. HTH! You could fill the vases with red or blue water (I wouldn’t mix them) and fill with white flowers.

linda,
love the black it is soooo classic and rewearable. i wouldnt worry about anyone frowning about this. black is so popular as it should be! its timeless. with so much color i would recommend the simple black on black tux. it is very handsome with a red bout. i think it might be to much going on with 2 guys in red vests and 2 in black. so keep it traditional classic all around. your pictures will thank you for it! red flowers would look best. keep it simple all flowers in one color in one type and use en masse. that way it wont add to much to it, it will look more polished. all white flowers would work too. but i would stick with all red. an all red wedding with the bridal party breaking the color contrast up with the black would look good.

just dont go to much with the red. adding greenery to the flowers(which is what i would use alot of) will give it the break it needs and be very nice. so much controversy has happened ovet price of roses but in bulk they are still the cheapest. because it is the same type of flower, i read this in an article with ordering flowers in 1 type only. it saves $$$. another color to add to the red would be a very pale almost white yellow with pale orange. youcan also break up the reds by using a monochromatic color scheme(shades of the same color light to dark) this would look great! if using all red, just have white linens if you want some more contrast without it being to much. although red on red is wow!!

*wedding inspiration board: red, black & white

*Anna & Seth in Chicago, IL(this one is GREAT and the centerpieces look like fire so to speak)

*photogalleryweddings

just google image black and red wedding board (loads of pics) then google image red wedding

Hi Girls,

I think too much “fire themed” stuff will look tacky. I just got married and had a few touches here and there. We had black dresses with red roses for the bridesmaids, a vintage firetruck for photographs. The bonbonniere was clear boxes with black tissue paper underneath filled with gold chocolates and wrapped in a red bow, they had a tiny firefighter charm attached. Here are some pics.

My fiance and I are having a burning building at our wedding. The bottom layers are going to be fake, wood boxes with fondant. The top layer will be cake for us to cut and we will be serving sheet cakes. We will also have a block of dry ice in the bottom block with tubing to the top to give the illusion of smoke. I’ll post pics after the wedding but it’s not until Aug 22. Good Luck!

brandy,

google search firefighter wedding invites.
choose your color scheme based on firefighter colors and paramedic colors ( which is usually blue or green right!?!?!) then pick those colors for your flowers. blue and yellow look wonderful for example. just add touches of the two careers instead of making it complete theme, it may take away from the elegance of the ceremony/reception.
*Chemical Highs: a Medical Chic Theme Wedding ( great ideas here) also google search medical wedding theme
*grooms cake
for the brides cake have the firefighter wedding cake. or have a firefighter/emt cake topper go here for custom designs for very reasonable!!
*cake toppers
for example on favors use small silver buckets with assorted “medical favors-candy and add red hots etc.

My daughter is getting married in oct09 and is doing a firefighter theme wedding. We are looking for some centerpiece ideas that are easy to do and not real expensive. We are needing for about 25 tables. We thought of fire hats with flowers but when we ask the florist about doing this for us she quoted us a price of about $15 apiece (we would be buying the hats.)

* Wedding Decoration Ideas

here is one…fire and water you could change the color, if you like.
* Fire and Water

and last the pic(red petals) i posted, you could place a 1 firehat in center or add the colored water in cylinders and floating candles in addition to this.

I am a firefighters wife and a sister to a florist. we came up with a cute idea that you could make youself. Ask your daughter fire department to get you some of the plastic hats that they use for promoting fire prevention week. Then put a fake candle (the ones that flicker like real ones) in the middle and put rose pedals from silk flowers that can be found at garage sales inside around the candle. You could also find some cristal beads and glue them to some of the petals for more glowing affect. Hope you like this idea. If you have any questions just email me. Good Luck Deanna

( i use to have a pic for the red , but cant find it, it was amazing!!)or use colored vases such as red for centerpiece containers. i would add ladders and firefighter gear around the room, and use the hats for the favors. if ya want more firefighter decor, just add candles surrounding vase and on each vtive holder have the firefighter emblem on front. should be able to go to a print shop with original and replicate. would be beautiful!! hope the links give ideas.

bride2be, I think you have to make the fire truck placecard holders yourself instead of buying ready-made. If you “view all comments” someone below tried it and said it was very easy, you just have to drill a hole in the toy trucks, bend the top of some wire to create that placecard spiral and glue in the wire. She said it went fast.

The trick is to find a lot of matchbox firetrucks without spending a fortune. I think an easier way to go is to get the larger toy truck size and use the same technique (drill hole, glue in spiral wire) to create table number holders. So you only need 12 or so instead of 200. You could also use this for special signs (menu cards at buffet stations, guestbook table etc.) I think it would look great. Try diecast fire trucks on ebay.

if you have not found your fire trucks why not do paper ones? Find a good graphic or have one drawn of the sides, front & back and print colored copies on card stock. Trim (should be “+” shape sorta) , fold to stand and “slice” into the top to position the name card. This is very doable and everyone will be impressed!

Hello,

My fiance and I are also both firefighters for the same department, he is actually the chief, and this site has given me some great ideas, something else we are going to do is have the firemans prayer, and the firemans wife’s prayer printed on patriotic cards, and laminated them and put them at each place setting at the reception. I am also using the helmet with flowers as center peices as one of the ladies on this site has done. If anyone has any other ideas please let me know.

Thanks

Mother,
I have seen it somewhere…maybe ourdesigns…but they make a garden hose that looks like a small firehose nozzle. I think I have also seen them at places like Meijer.
Another option would be to talk with the local fire chief, see what they have in their “archives” that you could borrow. Also, if you have a fire school or academy close (maybe the one that the firefighter went to) you could ask them the same.

If you can’t find fire hoses for your centerpieces, then perhaps traffic/safety cones would work. You can get the smaller ones. Check Ebay for safety cones.

Also do a Ebay word search for firefighter wedding.

When you do a search on Ebay make sure to click on the bottom of the page the…..”See additional Buy It Now items” …. This takes you to the Ebay Stores where you will find even more firefighter wedding items with a buy it now option.

about those gold chairs: can you find some old “retired” firehose? You could take lengths and “tie” them around the back of the chair to “tie in” your fire theme - I am also planning an October fire theme Rehearsal Dinner for my son and his bride-to-be and have been racking my brain for ideas. I am still hoping to find old fire nozzles for the centerpiece “bases” (turned upside down) - have put out feelers - if anyone knows a resource that is loanable, I am all ears!
(putting “wired” fire trucks, dalmations, firehats, axes, rescue helicopters, ambulances, police cars, etc. springing out of the nozzles if I can find them)

I’m a having a firefighter wedding next weekend. 8/9/08..
We have lots of things that we came up with. WE are going with firetruck ceramic center pieces, and having prayer cards that have the firemens prayer on them. My colors are red and white. My dress though is White and black. We are having the Engine as well. Mostly all of our favors, and other touches were made with red ribbon that ties everything together. Our glasses, our invitaions which we made ourselves. And we also used Maltese Cross charms on many things. Any questions??? Just let me know!!

Talk about a light bulb lighting off in your head! - You gave me some really great ideas to work it. I will take down the green curtains and buy at the dollar store some silk flowers and dress the windows.. Since its a fall wedding I guess the gold chairs will work - So I will go with Navy & Gold for the tables with a splash of red decor! As far as the White color, well, Im in white! (((smile)))

Thank you again Sandy!

ANNIE,

Well, you can always incorporate those colors in your wedding or change it.

Only a few things you can do about the curtains - either change them- take them down and have no curtains or add more greenery to your flowers to match the green curtains.
If you want to make curtains cheap - Walmart has a $1.00 a yard section in fabric- perhaps you can find some red or white and make curtains. You don’t even have to sew them…Just drape or pin the material over the curtain rods- cut the bottom with pinking sheers. No one will notice.

For the gold chairs, just add some gold within your table accents. Perhaps some gold in your floral arrangements or maybe gold dollies, gold bells, confetti or something. Then the gold chairs would blend in.
You might want to cover the head table chairs. Just buy some cheap (Walmart) white or red fabric. Drape it over the chairs and pin or tie it in the back. You can even put a bow on the back, but no one usually sees the back of the chair anyways. I think about 2 yard per chair, but you may need to measure to make sure. Buy a few yards and experiment to see how it looks on your chairs. The head table is the main table to worry about, because most of your wedding pictures will be taken there.

Best of luck

I want our colors to be White with Red, but the chairs at the hall are gold with green curtains on the window. How can I incorporate my red and white!!! We are on a very tight budget and it would be too expensive to cover the chairs and change the color curtains for our day.

I guess it has to do with the fact that it can bend and whatnot, but the diamond tipped ring cutters we use can’t cut the metal…so it would have to be torched off or somethin like that :D

Thanks for the info on the ring, I had thought of titanium but never had thought about carbide. What did you end up with as a metal Sandra?

Hi Heather & anyone else who might need it, here’s the poem “Fireman’s Wife”:

Fireman’s Wife

When you are gone, I feel alone —
When you’re away, I want you home.
I miss you here, right next to me —
But that’s the way it has to be.

When duty calls, it seems unfair —
You should be here, but you are there.
Helping people, saving lives —
I am one of many wives.

God, keep him safe, watch over him —
When the work is hard, when the times are dim.
Late at night or the early morn —
When he is tired,
When his spirit’s worn.

Give him strength, be his guide —
Let him know you’re at his side.
I love this man, he’s one of a kind —
He’s one of the Bravest
The best you’ll find.

So this is what I ask of thee,
Just know how special he is to me.
Protecting the helpless, a defender of life —
I am proud to be A Fireman’s Wife.

OK so my fiance wants his ring to be a plain ring but etched into it he wants the diamond plated design (like a tool box or a fire truck). We saw the design once online but have not been able to find it anywhere again and all the jewelers look at us like we are crazy. Does anyone have any idea where I could find something like that?

that doesn’t make sense to me, how could it “bend” from doing physical labour, but then not be able to be cut off? I guess its just a risk you need to be aware of, the other option is that if you bought gold, it would scratch really easily and look worn really quickly

My fiance is a volunteer firefighter and we opted for his ring to be made of tungsten and carbine. it’s scratch-proof and fire-proof…good heavy metal but i’m not sure if it can be cut off…

Sandra & Adam, my fiancee and I just ordered our rings. We are both volunteer firefighters and our jeweller recommended not going with titanium or platinum rings as these metals are so hard, if they get bent (can happen when doing physical labour firefighters are known to do), they CANNOT be cut off your finger. Something to consider…

I love the ideas, bookmarked the page so I can keep checking back.
My fiance wants me to get a ring that holds up to heat well. She has seen what necklaces do to my neck (ouch) in training burns. Does anyone have a good idea where to look, or someone who has done the research already?

Amy,

That dress is beautiful.

I don’t know how many bridesmaids you are having, but since you are in red, perhaps you could do the bridesmaids - one in a yellow - one in a burnt orange or dark burgundy color - then when you walk down the isle you will look like a fire ball in flaming color.

You could use these same colors in your bouquet flowers.
Each Groomsman bout should match the color of who he is walking with.

Just a suggestion, but you have the dress the hardest part is done.

For table #’s you can use the matchbox fire truck with the wire coil and instead of table number’s you can assighn station or firehouse numbers.
ex. Station #1
ex. Ladder Co. #2
ex. Firehouse #5

That cake is fabulous and i love the song hehe!!!

I made my cake by baking a square cake and cutting out a long part then a smaller square part for the front i cut it on an angle at the back. I then purchased wedding cake icing and added heaps of red dye to make it bright red. Then I rolled it out with a rolling pin and gently layed it on top of the cake. The windows are white icing, and i just found little props for the decorations. The wheels are chocolate biscuits etc.

Hi Rose,

Congratulations on your engagement! Since my fiance is a firefighter I found a small firefighters presentation axe to cut our cake that I’m going to give him as a surprise. The company I purchased it from is called Eagle Engraving. Their website is http://www.eagle-engraving.com and their phone# is 630-377-1056. It’s called a Desplay Fire Wedding Axe - 1.5lb chrome plated w/ hickory handle. I had it engraved with our names and the date. It turned out perfect and I can’t wait to give it to him!

Hope this helps and good luck with everything!

My fiance is a firefighter and we are getting married August 18th 2007. I also wanted to tie in the firefighter them in a subtle way. For our invitations we took our engagement pictures on a fire truck and had an invitation with our picture for the front on vellum and the top was tied with a red ribbon. on the guest book table i am having our engagement picture framed, and the firefighters prayer and the firemans wifes prayer printed on nice paper i found at a scrapbook store and framed. For the grooms cake i took pictures of his helmet and took it to the bakery and they are going to create his cake to look exactly like his own helmet. But make sure you lool at pictures of recreation type cakes they have done to make sure they will do a good job. i also have small fire charms on things like the cake cutters, our toasting glasses. I am using red flowers and when we leave since our wedding isnt close to home and we cant use a firetruck from his department, we decided to have him dress in all his gear and carry me out of the building as if he’s rescuing me. Hope this gives a few of you some ideas! Happy planning!!!

Stephanie,

I made my own “Fire Themed” Invites for my upcoming wedding. My Fiance and I got our engagement pictures taken at our firehouse and there was 1 picture in particular of us in our gear that we used for the front of the invite. We got copies made of the picture and used photo corner’s to hold them to the card stock. I also printed up what I wanted printed on the invitations and took them to a printing company to print .
On the front of the invite, under the picture it read:
“There is a wedding as you know, So off to the Firehouse we will go”, since our wedding is at our station. we also stated words like: “come join us as two flames become one” and “Come join us for a red hot time” all the printing was done in red ink as well. If you need any more ideas or have any questions, please email me at: firegirlkorb@aol.com

Hi! My fiance is a firefighter and we are getting married Aug. 3, 07. I thought of a really cute idea that I’m really excited about. We are having our ring bearer drive a push petal firetruck down the aisle with the rings tied to the bell and he will be ringing the bell as he drives it down the aisle. I am also having firefighter charms sewn onto my garter. I bought a bag of an assortment of silver firefighter charms on ebay. Just thought I would share my ideas :D

At the former World Trade Center (where they’re rebuilding) you see red anthuriums woven into the fences. They are the perfect flower for firefighters because the red part, the flower, looks like the color/texture of a firefighter helmet and with the bright yellow center, the colors are perfect.

So we are having some anthurium arrangements at our wedding.

Here are some ideas.

Your ring bearer can wear a firefighter suit. They have them on the internet…Do a search for firefighter costumes or firefighter child suits. If your flower girls dress is white, you can add red, yellow or orange flowers to her dress or firefighter appliques

Center pieces - Use a plastic fire truck or plastic fire hat…cut a hole in the top and add silk flowers into the hole for a centerpiece.
You can use the mini water pails. If they are different colors, you can spray paint them to your color or paint them with a fire design. Add flowers and you have a centerpiece.
You can use child size black/yellow rain boots and add flowers for a centerpiece or even use a real firefighter boot.

Use red and yellow tulle wrapped/twisted together for decoration anywhere needed. You can also buy fire fabric for your cake table or where needed. (Chair covers, cake table, food table, head table…Ect…)

Favors; Lifesavers in the matchbook - or red hots wrapped in tulle - or buy a candy mold of fire trucks (search internet - ebay) and make your own Chocolate candy.

Use caution tape as pew bows or for bows/streamers anywhere needed.

Use child party fire hats as decorations.

Axe for your cake cutter….Check internet/ebay

Use firefighter stickers for anywhere needed, such as on your bubbles given to guests. Even stick them to the table covers or on any glass decorations/centerpieces.

Check the toy isle for firefighter items that you can use for decorations…. Axes, hats, trucks, stickers,

For our favors we bought red and orange mesh fabric to look like fire on every table filled with: hot tamales, atomic fireballs, red hots and lifesavers. wrapped in red ribbon with a saying that says “keep the fires burning” with our names and wedding date.

We are also using a fire boot and doing a “wish boot” instead of a wish bowl. it will say “Fill the Boot” with a poem and people can write down wedding advice for us on paper with their name on it, put it in the envelope, and stick their advice in the boot for us to read.

Another thing we are doing for our flowergilrs, Instead of carrying a regular basket, they will carry a plush fire engine basket that I found at hobby lobby, one girl will throw red flowers, the other girl will throw white flowers. though it would be something neat and different. :D

Me and my fiance are both firefighters and we as well are having that as a theme…well sort of. I am not going all out. Just having some subtle stuff. Like our Favors. They are match books, but because we can’t give people matches to play with, inside, there are two LifeSavers…get it?? We are making them ourselves with some paper ribbon (as the striker) and some stamps that have our names on them.
The fire Boot can be used for the “money dance”
I went with Silk flowers and was able to find some pretty cool ones in the fall. They start out yellow, go to orange and then to red. When they are all in a tight bunch…it looks like a ball of fire.
We are obviously having the reception at our new fire hall. We will have dinner in the truck bays and then go downstairs for the rest of the Party!!

I bought my firefighter wedding items on Ebay…GREAT PLACE>>>>Best prices on everything you need for a Firefighter wedding.
I saw a firefighter axe cake knife…At least I think I saw one. Just do a search for “Firefighter Wedding” and see what comes up at… http://www.ebay.com.

You have to become a member to buy, but that’s no big deal and you can sign up for Paypal.com to pay for your items if you want or just send Money Orders for the items you buy. Paypal is faster, because you use your debit card…pay for the item and they ship it faster then waiting on a Money Order.

You buy the items and it comes right to your door…What a deal…No running around like crazy.

Barbara,
We have run into the same problem with finding an axe cake cutter set, there aren’t too many options for firefighter themed weddings. You could try going to http://www.ourdesigns.com or http://www.galls.com and maybe purchasing a brand new hand held axe. I think the route we are going to go is just buying a basic cake cutter set, and decorating it with red & black, and also glueing firefighter charms onto them so they will go with the whole theme. I bought the firefighter charms at http://www.fairytaleweddingstore.com. they also have a few other firefighter wedding accessories. hope this helps :D

to leigh….u could always find some fire fighter figurines (sp?) @ the dollar store! they are really nice and don’t look cheap! we used one on each table along with our candles and they looked beautiful! also, to incorporate the fall season, you could use fall colors in your flowers, orange, red…these will also tie into the fireman thing because fire can look orange and red! hope i’ve helped!
