Firefighter Theme Weddings
From what I've tasted of desire, I hold with those who favor fire.
— Robert Frost
Where to start when planning a firefighter wedding? How about the black, red, yellow and brass of firefighter regalia and firetrucks. See if you can marry in the fire hall, ideally with a firetruck as your transportation to the ceremony, or as your getaway car.
Check your local prop shop, who might be able to rent you special items to add zing to your decor. What could be more romantic than strolling down an aisle lined with flower and tulle-draped hydrants?
For high drama, walk underneath an arch of pike poles held by the groomsmen (donning full dress blues) after the officiant declares you husband and wife.
Fortunately, firefighter cake toppers aren't hard to find. Try JW Caketops or Colorado Carla.
As for the cake itself, your choices are endless. Gorgeous possibilities: a red velvet cake hidden in demure white icing. Or consider a sleek white cake with crisp bands of red satin ribbon, or a cake topped with orange/rust calla liles.
Want a more whimsical approach? We've seen a traditional white cake topped by a traditional white bride, with a ladder leading down the cake to the fire truck in front.
As for the groom's cake, popular choices include fire trucks, helmets, badges, dalmations and the Maltese Cross.

Setting the Scene
Many firehalls are built with gorgeous neo-classical flair. If yours is, bring the feel to your reception hall by renting grand fluted pillars for the corners of the room.Look for table linens with a reflective quality. Shimmering yellow fabric on white linen is luxurious. Go whimsical by edging one or two table coverings in reflective tape.
A few types of flowers seem tailor-made for this event: roses, and callas. Both come in fire-tinged shades, starting with yellow or orange and reddening at the tips. Tie bunches of these with tulle swags for gorgeous pews, then tie off the center aisle with caution tape.
Sew or glue firefighter charms to your ringbearer pillow, candles, ribbons, guest book, cake serving set, and bridal bag.
Borrow a friend's Dalmation and draft him into service. Or if you want to stick with the two-footed type, give him a pillow with a Maltese emblem or firefighter charm. Alternative: have two more ringbearers walk up the aisle with torchlights.
Lean aerial ladders against the walls, and link them together with dramatic swags of tulle. Use a shiny pair of firefighter boots as a "wishing well" or a floral vase for your guestbook table.Spice up the afterparty (and picture ops) by slipping on a shorter, saucy dress — at at least for a few minutes, a firefighter helmet with a veil.

The Spice of Life
Want to add some zip to your dinner? Try hot dogs with five-alarm chili, habanero sauce, firehouse stew, flame-broiled steaks or chicken, Autumnal Fire beer. Or go for the traditional fare but serve eye-catching signature drinks like red apple martinis (apple vodka, apple juice and grenadine syrup).

Sizzling Ideas for Favors
Favors for this one are simple — and cute. Start with a crisp favor box you'll tie off with a contrasting ribbon (red and white, yellow and white, chocolate brown and red). Then, fill with tongue-in-cheek treats like like Atomic Fireballs, Hot Tamales, Red Hots or candy fire extinguishers. Or set out these items in a red, white and yellow candy buffet.Other possibilities: rolls of Lifesavers (get it?), personalized hot sauce, personalized barbeque sauce, or miniature flashlights on keychains.
Music to Their Ears
Call up your local Scottish/Irish musicians for live bagpipes at your wedding. Also, consider the Backdraft Soundtrack,Other ideas:
"Believe" by YellowCard
"Into the Fire" by Dokken
"Standing Outside the Fire" and "When You Come Back to Me Again" by Garth Brooks
"The Fireman" by George Strait
"Fireman's Prayer" by Plainfolk
"Ring of Fire" by Johnny Cash
"Burning Down the House" by The Talking Heads
I found this website at random, looking for ideas about a future wedding. Just a thought, you can find small fire truck toys, for cake decorations etc, at your local Dollar Store!
Thanks John! I like the idea of the firetrucks @ the dollar store never thought of that!
Are there any toy fire truck wedding favors? Maybe something I could fill with chocolates for the guests?
Leslie, I did a google image and couldn’t find any. I would consider using mini pails to fill with chocolates or something like this…
Leslie,
Here is another link with chocolates/wrappers…
Well 9-10-11 is quite the popular wedding date….at least on here. I haven’t heard it much around my area. I to am getting married on this date and my fiance and I are both firemen/emt’s, I’m with a volunteer dept. and he is with a paid dept.
I am also struggling w/ a fireman themed wedding and reception…..especially on a tight budget. I’m struggling w/ decorations at the reception which will be at a neighboring FD which mine doesn’t have a banquet hall or the room to hold a huge event such as this. A brother fireman of mine who is a judge now is the one who will be marrying us. Anyone have any ideas on center pieces and decorations for the reception. I’m running out of time…..My colors are red/white/black which my gown is white w/ red trim.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions!!

Leighanne,
Look at this amazing wedding, add some firefighter items such as motif on your paper goods, a firefighter theme cake, etc. and you have a gorgeous wedding! This is very simple to do. Dollartree website has vases and containers. If you cant rent these tall ones or dont have the ceiling or room for it just look to simple cylinder vases or smaller vases like the tall ones.
I love this!!! If you use the bicolor rose like I posted it will look like flames or fire with surrounding candlelight….
Oh my Goodness Carla Colorado is TOO expensive. Not worth the buck. Not when you can get a better product on Ebay for less then $25.00 instead of $115.00 from Carla.
I got my cake topper, Axe Cake knife set, pillow, basket, garter & unity candle and all those items combined did not come to $115.00(for ONE topper from Carla).
I bought on Ebay the most unique firefighter unity Candle. A candle that you can NOT purchase anywhere else and it was personalized with our names and wedding date. How Unique !
Just go to Ebay.com and do a search for; ” firefighter wedding unity candle “ – and you will find that seller. Check out that sellers Ebay store for other firefighter wedding items, because they have A LOT of stuff. Everything you need.
Their customer service is AMAZING. They even personalize our items. You can’t find that anywhere for firefighter weddings, but they have it. SOOO COOL!!! To buy all my items at one place that too was a blessing. Reduced the shipping cost and the hassle of shopping around. I LOVE that Ebay seller !!!!!!!!
Hi I am also getting married 9-10-11 and my fiance is a fireman! I am not truly having a fimeman themed wedding. But I would like to have some aspects of it at the reception. His cake will be his original helmet from his first job and we will also have one a cake this is a fire truck. I am also looking for invitations that are firefigter themed. Can anyone help me!! I am running out of time.
Thanks
Lynn,

i printed up my invitations myself (bought from an arts and crafts store) plain white paper with a border, black lettering and then found a maltese cross online and just copy and pasted it at the top of my invitation to give it that firefighter touch
 help i have a wedding in July looking for a cake topper of bambam n pebbles preferably when they were getting married. the wedding colors are going to be red and it is going to be by a lake please if ne one has ne suggestions

I’m in search for a cake topper for our wedding September 3, 2011. My husband to be is a volunteer firefighter and I want to surprise him with some awesome stuff at the reception. I was on CarlaColorado and found the perfect cake topper. However spending what will be $115.00 on it doesn’t make me feel so good since we are on a budget. However I love the one with the fireman on the side of the cake as if he is crawling up to his bride who is on top. So I was wondering if anyone has seen anything like this at a cheaper price? Thanks for any input you may have.
Tina,
Didn’t find any at a cheaper price but I may have one suggestion. What about looking at toy fireman figurines at walmart etc. The ones that have movable arms and legs, you should be able to find a ladder and everything there. I have actually seen them at walmart and think they would suit for a cake topper.
HI THERE, MY FIANCE IS A VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER AND WE ARE GETTING MARRIED APRIL 16TH 2011. I AM TRYING TO FIND FIREFIGHTER THEMED INVITATIONS AT A CHEAP PRICE. THE ONES I HAVE FOUND ARE WAY TOO PRICEY FOR US. I FOUND ONE ON YAHOO SEARCH THAT I LIKE BUT DOES NOT SAY HOW I CAN USE IT OR PURCHASE IT. PLEASE LET ME KNOWWHAT I CAN DO. THANKS

Lora,
You could always get simple diy invitation kits. Find a template like the fireman symbol or any other fireman related clipart.
our daughter is marrying a fireman, 9-10-11, and it is a recession wedding. we have some ideas. but need more ideas for reception. i have done a lot of internet surfing and found several things but still open to more ideas.
i did some sample table top decorations for the kids, and they like them all and want to know if it is ok for all tables NOT to match, i think it would be ok for them not all to match, right????
i have a plastic birthday party firehat, cut out the top put a potted baby rose in the hole. then surrounded that with 4 votive candles, and small buckets filled with life savers, for “rescued by love” theme.
other idea, is the same small stuff, candles, small buckets of life savers, but instead of hat, i have a larger 6″ steel bucket (red) with “fire” written on it, with the small rose plant inside it. like in the olden days, you would have fire buckets all around.
i made the ring barer pillow, white, with red ribbon across it, and thought the little boy could wear a little fireman hat.
flower girl, has head dress with alternating red and white roses on it, with red basket for the flowers. hummm, maybe she should carry a small red bucket for the flower peddles????
any opinions or ideas, please go ahead and e-mail me.

thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Tess, I too am marrying a firefighter on 9/10/11! lol! How funny! We decided to get married at the local firefighter hall- they give discounts because of his job. For our cake cutting I ordered a personalized axe for the cake cutting- you can go online at ebay, etsy.com, or just google and shop around. Our colors are green and purple- so I’m having to incorporate the firefighter theme in not too over the top ways. On etsy.com you can order cupcake toppers of firetrucks and just bake cupcakes yourself? They are pretty cheap- I think we paid $12 for 10…if you’re having cake then you don’t really need to many cupcakes- just enough for the kiddies! If I think of anything else I’ll post or email you- you can always email me too! samantha.rincon@ymail.com
My sister is getting married September 23rd 2011 and her and her soon to be hubby is planning a firefighter wedding.. and I am on here looking for ideas for cakes.. Cause I really wanna repay the favor to her cause when i got married she had bought and had my cake made, and i want to do the same for her and i was thinking instead of having someone else make it and me pay for it.. I was thinking about just getting some ideas and making the cake myself.. It would mean so much more to her and to me if I made it myself and decorated it so if anyone has any ideas please send them to me or any pictures… They are having their firefighter wedding on the lake and could use any ideas that are thrown at us… Thanks in Advance…
