Apple Theme Weddings
Apple of My Eye. This theme goes hand-in-hand with autumn weddings, but there's no reason why you can't take your apple theme wedding in other directions, too.
Outside of the fall feel, we see more and more apples as florists and designers "modernize" their creations with fruits and vegetables, succulents and herbs, and just about everything else under the sun.
But let's start with some autumn-style apple ideas ...
Creating Ambiance with Apples
The fall sort of apple feel brings to mind places like Vermont, the glory of New England trees, and venues like big, airy barns with dark-paned glass and mysterious farming equipment slumbering on the grounds. To focus on apples is to zero in on the sweet-yet-tart heart of a harvest festival, with a more focused palette than the usual oranges, reds and yellows.Ways to bring the theme alive:
Hold your ceremony in an apple orchard, and your reception in a big, grand barn. Wind twinkle lights around the rafters and hang rustic lanterns.
Bring in the props and objects that say fall to hold food, drink and decorations: wine barrels, galvanized buckets, fruit crates, hay bales. Galvanized tubs are wonderful for holding specialty sodas in glass bottles with an old-timey feel. Hay bales under a plank make great serving tables, and even seats.
String red or green apples together into long, shiny garlands using super-strength microfilament (fishing line). Hang the results from the rafters and bare-branch trees.
Toast your love with a special pouring of sparkling cider.
Instead of the usual wedding cake, serve up a few rich spice cakes with just a dusting of powdered sugar.
Treat your guests to the mouth-watering pairing of fresh apple cider and cake donuts.
Pour small green or golden apples into tall, clear eiffel vases. Top with a pillow of roses or chrysanthemums.
Large, sturdy apples make ideal bases for table numbers. Smaller ones make adorable place card holders: pin on leaf-shaped tags that display your guests' names.
Apple Theme Centerpiece Ideas
- Use raffia to bind up bundles of birch branches (find at any craft store), wheat or bittersweet. Surround each bundle with cinnamon-scented votive candles or miniature apples.
- Fill canning jars or milk buckets with old-fashioned flowers like daisies, mini-mums or heather.
- Place sparkling cider bottles on wooden cutting boards. Heap with gold-painted apples and unshelled walnuts.
- Place florist foam in a galvanized bucket and fill with daisies and apples.
- Create apple candles by carving a tealight-shaped hollow in each apple, and float in a glass bowl.
- Fill a tall, fluted vase with small green apples. Top with a tight arrangement of red or pink roses.
Apple Wedding Favors & Decorations
Favorite favors that have proved their worth at apple and autumn-themed weddings:- Candied or caramel apples, tied off with a pretty ribbon in your colors
- Caramel apple kits in a bag
- Individual jars of apple butter (personal, homemade, sure to be remembered)
- Mini bottles of sparkling cider
- Personalized teas or coffee
- Mini-apple candles
- Your grandmother's famous fall recipes in a special booklet
Apple Theme Food
Anything savory sets off this evocative fall theme. Some favorites: roasted chestnut soup or pumpkin bisque, french bread with white cheddar cheese and toasted almonds, roast turkey or rotisserie chicken, fruit crisps, mini molasses cookies, kale and roasted root vegetables.

The Pink & Green Summertime Apple Theme
You don't have to stick to autumn for your apple wedding theme. Another popular look (especially in summer) comes from the fresh school of thought that likes to pair pink with apple green.Pink roses and baby green apples look chic and sleek together. So do green apples and pink gerber daisies. The key is repetition: line up a small army of miniature apples for place card holders, and go simple with your flower treatments, so they look like a color block and aren't overcomplicated.
Bright, sassy ribbons and contemporary square-shaped vases help pull this look off. Consider polka dots, sashed cocktail-length dresses, and possibly a third color, like purple or coral. As for bridesmaids in bright apple green? Deee-licious!

I’m getting married 9/18/10. I’m starting to freak out because it is now less than a year and I can’t quite nail down a theme for my wedding. I am from Ca and the groom is from NY. I was thinking on doing some kind of LA meets NY theme with apples and oranges and decided that my colors would be red and orange. I think this is the perfect site to start looking for ideas. I love the favor idea of apple cider. Is there a way I can incorporate orange into it? Any other ideas would be totally appreciated! Thanks in advance!
melii,
i am not sure i understand; incorporate orange into it? do you mean the decor?

We are getting married in late August in Baltimore and I was wondering how an apple and peach theme would be. ANY SUGGESTIONS ARE GREALTY APPRECIATED! Hi, I love this site!! My daughter is getting married September 2010 in an apple orchard and reception in a barn. What can we do that will slightly incorporate the orchard feel but have the style be very elegant? No hay or buckets, but an unexpected elegance. We were thinking of burgundy, gold and accents of plum and brown. No obvious apple red or green.
Hi I am getting married July 24, 2010 we are getting married at a local farm, I am having red for my bridesmaids and we will be carrying red and white roses. I thought of having an apple theme for my tables red apples do you think this is too fallish?
jerri,
that is a great idea!! have simple containers with apples laying in a bed of summer greenery and have it cascading down the sides and slightly touching the table. another idea is just have simple red flowers in containters, with white linens and red and white country looking runner, then on a truck bed or a wagon etc. have bushels of red and green apples with bags for guests to take apples home as favors. i love it!!
I am getting married August 1st. I had a serious issue and had to change my colors from pink & ivory to purple & green. I saw so many postings on incorporating apples into decor. I’m only 6 weeks away from our wedding and feel so lost as to where to begin with centerpieces, favors, etc. since I’m starting all over again. I’d appreciate any suggestions??
beth, why not submerge apples and grapes. i would do a simple decor that way you can still plan with ease. white linens with the green apples and purple grapes surrounded by votives would be amazing!

Hello all. Just so you know, I had my wedding on 7/27/08 and it was FABULOUS.. there was casting call out for brides to submit their wedding info such as theme, color, etc and who ever was chosen, David Tutera would enhance your wedding and help you make your wedding turn out the way you want.. The show is called My fair Wedding and it airs on 10/26 on the WEtv Network at 10 pm, right after the Bridezilla show. here are some photos of my wedding. [Photos removed for now at Wanda's request]
I’m planning a gold champagne, brown and powder blue wedding for October 11,2008 i have no idea where to start as a theme and D.I.Y centerpiece and flower ideas. HELP PLEASE
I would love more suggestions for a purple and green theme. Our wedding is in early October and I love the idea of a plum/aubergine color with green apples and green flowers in the decor. Are there any ideas on how to incorporate those 2 colors?
tble setting and bridesmaid flowers
I am having a fall wedding,October 27, 2008, I am doing carmel apple cider as the wedding favors (apple cider mix, cinnamon sticks and caramel candies in gold colored boxes.) My colors are red and gold and as one of the desserts, I want to do caramel apple slices. Just a couple of other ways to incorporate apples into the wedding.
hey! i’m getting married on the 26th and this was the same idea that i had for favors, but i can’t find apple cider mix…can you help!?!
Did anyone find out where you can buy apple cider mix in bulk?

any restaurant supply or wholesale food supply even sam’s club or costco should have what you need.
Nina Callaway at about-com weddings posted this great little snippet about a $10 apple carver tool that (hopefully) lets you make a whole lotta clean, neat tealight-sized holes in apples, fast.
This tool garnered some kind of snotty comments on the kitchen tools site where it originally showed up, but Nina recognized that this thing would be VERY useful to a lot of brides with apple/autumn/naturalistic themes.
One bride pointed out that her florist wanted $5 an apple to do the same thing — so quite a bargain, huh? You can use it on mini pumpkins/gourds, too … actually, this might be fun to have around the house!

Hi, I know it’s really late for Wanda
but whenever I go to my local grocery store, they have these trays of apple slices in plastic clamshells with a little caramel dip. In other words the apples are all cut up, but no, they do not brown! (Kind of scary)
The secret ingredient on the package is citric acid, leading me to believe if you create a citric acid solution (you buy it as powder then mix with water) and spray it on, your apples should stay pretty nice, especially if you can refrigerate them all until showtime. I would definitely experiment with this ahead of time, but think it would work. So where to buy citric acid? Try the canning section in grocery stores, or GNC, or your pharmacy. If desperate you can even crush up the really cheap kind of Vitamin C and add water to that. HTH!
Hello, Hope someone can help? I’m getting married in April this year, and i would like to use pink and white for the braidsmaids dresses, and I’m torn between green or light blue for other decorations. I kinda like the meaning of green though, but i’m not sure if green and pink are modern? colours sounds a bit olden???
I love the color pink and green together.
so i vote for NO BLUE..
and yes, they are VERY MODERN together. Im using my green and purple but Pink was my first choice with the green. The reason I switched was bc I saw a setting in the colors purple and green and that totally changed my mind. here is a pic of a sachet in green and pink.. LOVE IT.
My cousin just got married in Florida and they had pink and green. There centerpieces were topories (sp) with limes instead of the normal tree that you see and pink flowers filled in around it. It was super cute.
Im having a Miami Theme wedding w/neon lights, and my signature drink is APPLE MARTINI. here is our ctr pc.
that ctr pc by the way will have purple roses. my colors are purple and green. im also having apples as place cards.
My boyfriend and I live in NY, so I thought having an apple themed wedding was a great idea. Does anyone know where I can see pictures of center pieces and favor ideas, as well as wedding decor. I chose the color Gold & Ivory. Any ideas?
Apple favor: my wedding is a year away and I have changed my theme many time, most recent being the apple theme, one thing has remained consistant is the favors: no matter what the theme is we are giving cookie cutters, in this case it would be a apple shaped cookie cutter that would be attached to an apple cookie recipe :D>-:D>-
Does anyone know where I can buy mini-jars of apple butter for favors for an apple themed wedding? Quick? the wedding is Sept 22 in CA. Gina, Mother of Groom!
hey did you ever find this out?!? I want to do the same thing for my wedding next year but cant find them anywhere!! Let me know if you did this still and how you went about getting them. Thanks!!
Hi Lauren, do you have any farmers markets around? I think that could be the easiest way to get this, also, it’s fresh! You should be able to work out a good deal. You might even be able to get a custom flavor (a little spin, like “caramel apple butter” or something exotic, like cardamom flavored. They may even be able to supply the small bottles or you can buy them yourself from someplace like SpecialtyBottle and have them filled. Top with a little square of gingham over the lid and a cute custom favor tag. Just some ideas!
I am Having a apple themes wedding too..I also live in NY. I am Making Hotel welcome baskets with apple soap, apple hand cream apple candles, and apple cider. then I am putting them in apple baskets.
Apple butter can also be purshased at Pathmark for very cheap. You can take the label off and oder your own personalized one on myownlabels.com
My fiance and I are using candy/caramel apples as favors. I am a teacher and my fiance works for Applebee’s. For place cards we are thinking about doing mini chalboards.
My husband and I are renewing our wedding vows and the reception is at a rustic bed and breakfast. Any ideas for decorating? The ceilings are kind of low and the tables are round and seat 8. The date is only 3 months away!:-w
We are both teachers and we are planning a spring wedding. We are going to do the granny smith apples w/a card attached w/pearl headed push pins for placements. Any ideas for favors? We were thinking of glass photo coasters or apple post its w/personalized pencils since we are teachers. Any ideas??:”>
My father and grandfather were apple farmers, so we are having an apple themed wedding. Because we are having more of a formal affair, we are keeping the apples to Granny Smith instead of the reds. Our centerpieces are going to be tall vases with water and Granny Smith apples in the vases (some whole, some cut) and then at the top wil be tall gladiolas (purple) and some greenery. Our favors are going to be chocolate covered bride and groom apples from Mrs. Prindables. The maids bouquets and mine will also have green grannies in them with hydrangeas surruonding the apples.
Other apple things we are doing - in the arrival baskets for the out of town guests, we will have apples and apple muffins… and our save the date magnets have two apples side by side on them, as well as our invites.
just some apple ideas!
My daughter is having a September weddding and her colors are champagne and taupe. She is having Carmel Candy Apples as favors. I can’t seem to find any hang tags. That say something like today I married the apple of my eye with both their names and date. Any ideas.
Linda, I’ve seen hang tags that resemble a hershey kiss for carmelized apples. Wrap it around the top of the stick used to carmelize it and put glue from a glue stick the length of your message to hold it at the top.
