Chocolate Brown Weddings
But now, it's like the most visible Hilton heir: Paris — just Paris. Everyone knows who you mean.
Chocolate Brown is the color that fuels any number of high-flying color schemes. It's the go-to hue, whether it's a fall wedding that needs a touch of naturalism, or a fresh concept by a "design progressive" bride armed with a Gocco press, a bucketful of Etsy bookmarks and shelves groaning with artisan papers.
Alas for the chocolate-tigued, that's a migration not likely to happen — at least not soon. The world's still crazy-in-love with chocolate, and all its savory cousins: coffee, mocha, tan. Its hoped-for heir apparent, steel gray, has made inroads ... but has yet to take the wedding world by storm.
And that might not happen right away, because among the neutrals — unlike gunmetal gray! — chocolate brown is warm. Inviting. Feminine, even.
Pair it with just about any imaginable pastel or bright tropical hue, and you've got intimate, instant chic.
How to Get Down With Brown

But later on in the craze, we started to see new hues: butter yellow, lime or apple green. And that original pink got bumped up to sizzling fuchsia. We saw ultra-warm pairings like salmon, peach and burnt orange take their cue. So did aqua and teal.
As royal purple and eggplant colonized the pages of Vogue, they too started flaunting their charms against a field of chocolate brown. So did lavender.
Now, cutting-edge weddings interweave brown with fire-engine reds, copper and oranges, adding exotic touches like pin-tucked linens and fringe. Sometimes, you see brown with burgundy, a dark but elegant pairing ... and sometimes with crisp, patterned black and white.
Beautiful Byways
To most eyes, it's the warm and 'poppy' colors that meld best with chocolate brown.Still, there are blessed exceptions. Cool sage and brown launches the ultimate West Coast palette, especially with twigs or branches, bamboo, palm-leaf, handmade papers and other natural materials.
Also down with brown: monochromatics like champagne, khaki and cream. All this adds up to a Tuscan vibe that's positively royal. Just add dabs of gold, olive or brick.
Designing Brides
Everyone knows the traditional wedding: tulle, rose and shasta daisy affairs infused with lavender, pale yellow and other blushing hues.Then, you've got naturalistic weddings — keyed to the blazing hues of a New England hillside in fall.
Here, you see all those sassy, style-infused hallmarks of modern events: patterns (paisleys, damasks, moroccan or henna-style, just to name a few!). And bright chunks of contrasting satin ribbon.
Then, you see cakes stacked in 'gift box' designs, or flaunting quilted, embossed or hand-painted fondant, ribbons, or graphic accents (polka dots, swiss dots, art nouveau swirls or preppy stripes, anyone?).
And modern centerpieces look sharp in this setting: think trays full of wheat grass studded with gerber stems. Or clear cylinders filled with 'drowning' florals and topped with a floating candle.
Papers are uber-important, too. As for invites? Spunky and graphic, if not outright letterpressed in some swanky coastal atelier.
In other words, chocolate brown weddings really are all about detail.
Dialing Up Table Details
Because brown functions as a neutral and can be dark in quantity, this wedding offers the perfect excuse to mix up table linens and centerpieces. Drape some tables with chocolate brown linens and others with cream or mocha, alternating overlays.Then, for focal points, mix up your centerpieces in color and style. If your colors are pink and brown, work in some pale green and peach blooms to add depth to your palette. Use higher centerpieces on some tables, lower on others, and simple lanterns or hurricane lamps on still others.
Funkified Florals

Want actual brown blossoms in your bouquets? Take a look at chocolate brown cosmos, hot chocolate mini-callas, or sultry leucadendrons, to name a few: all of which look fabulous with cream mini-callas or green orchids. Fiddleheads are another super-stylish accent.
For bridesmaids in brown, monochromatic cream bouquets in a tight posy style are simple but stunning.
Over-the-Top Touches
As always, a candy buffet looks terrific in a color-popping wedding like this one.For fun photo ops outdoors, hand your bridesmaids some super-bright parasols in your alternate color and ask them to pop 'em. They'll look like free-wheeling flowers in pics.
And here's one fun last idea for chocolate brides: liven up your bridal attire with a pair of bright heels to match the theme: fuchsia, teal, or lime green!

Hi there
I am getting married this October and I was thinking about the guys in brown suits and the girls in red dresses. what colour would you suggest for the vest for the men – brown with a red tie/cravat? should the groom be in a differnet colour to stand out?
Cheers
Zoe
Zoe,
I would have the guys in the red tie/cravat. For the groom you could put him in cream or white whichever matches your dress.
Hi Stacey – thank you for that :-)
Hello all!
I am getting married May 8, 2011 and my wedding colors are Jade and Brown. I am trying to find flower colors that would compliment our wedding colors. My bridesmaids are wearing Jade dresseswith silver shoes and the groomsmen will be wearing Grey tuxedos with Jade vests. Brown will just be an accent color. Fro example, the ribbon wraping the flowers together, the wedding cake (white with brown detailing), etc. Please give any suggestions??
Natacha,
I would use simple white or cream flowers with pale almost white colors like lavender or yellow even pale pink. It will enchance the jade.
* some pics
* something with pale colors looks amazing too
* I used teal to pick up some more pics and complimenting colors
hey so im getting married 11-26-11 my colors are gold and chocolate brown i am debateing wheather to put teal in would u think that would match if yes what are some ideas for decorations??? email pics or ideas to 1ponygirl4@gmail.com thanks so much!!!

I am getting married on April 16, 2011 our colors were lavender and purple, but my favorite color is chocolate and my husband to be favor color is green. I wanted a chocolate wedding and did not think that the colors would look good in spring, coming to this web site has change our minds we will be having our chocolate and green wedding, our favorite colors. Thank you and there are so, many great ideas.
Hi! I am getting married 11/11/11 and my colors are clover, brown and cream. I am having the guys in brown tuxes with green vests and the h2b wants to be in ivory. Should his vest match the gms or should he be in all ivory. The bms dress is below.
http://www.dessy.com/dresses/bridesmaid/2812/ (dress in clover, trim in expresso)
My dress will be ivory. I was wondering if you had any boards or ideas for this color scheme?
I will have my reception at the sheraton in midlothian, va
Thanks!
His Future Mrs.,
* here is my boards you can browse through
* brown and green weddings
* something like this wedding would be stunning!
His Future Mrs.,
I would ask the groom which he prefers colored vest or all ivory. I think the all ivory would look nice. Also I looked at your venue and thought brown or cream linens would look the best with cream and green florals. I would actually use a combo of cream and green florals thruout. It would keep it elegant and simple to pull together.
Any ideas on center pieces or decorations?
His Future Mrs.,
* this is nice
* look at these low centerpieces
His Future Mrs.,
* this would be beautiful with pale yellow roses added for contrast with cream or chocolate linens
* this would work with rich chocolate linens
His Future Mrs.,
* this style would be super nice with just green and cream flowers
You could do low centerpieces if you prefer in cylinders.
His Future Mrs,
* just found this, the stems could stand in for the “clover green” in your palette. This is beautiful!
Hi Stacy,
I am getting married on September 3, 2011 and was considering Burnt Orange, Cream and Chocolate. What do you think about these colors? Are you able to make me a color board? Do you think these colors are ok for September?
Hi there,
I’m having a wedding on May 7th 2011 I am getting married in a hall with very warm lighting and earth toned very ivory and nuetral

and the flower girl is in ivory with a brown sash, ring bearer is wearing black with ivory to match the groom
my flowers are calla lilies in white
my tables are ivory with a sage overylay and chocolate brown napkns
from the way this all sounds do you think it will come together nicley? please if you can just reassure me i’d feel so much better
thanks Jackie
Jackie,
Sounds beautiful! You are going in the right direction!!
I don’t think black tux’s will flow nicely with a sage and brown. black an brown clash becasue they are both dark colors…
Hi, I’m getting married in July 2011 and originally chose chocolate brown and sage green as my theme colours. However, I went to order my wedding dress today and fell in love with a two piece dress with a corset in mocha brown and the skirt in ivory. Now I’m worried that having my bridesmaids in chocolate could look too dark or even weird if its not the same shade of brown. Can you help suggest alternative colours for the bridesmaids? I was planning on getting their dresses from Alfred Angelo.
Its an outdoor wedding reception in my parents back garden.
Thanks!
Rowena,
Can I get a link or pic of your dress and the dresses at alfred angelo? You could always have the same color sash on the bm dresses. Or use champagne or green dresses with a brown sash.
This is the dress.
And the bridesmaids dresses aren’t chosen yet but I like the look of this one for example but not sure what colours will look best.
Thanks!
Rowena,
Here are some boards I made with colors that you can see with the dress.
Rowena,
I made 2 more.
Hi I’m getting married on 30 April 2011 at Manawa Ridge.
I’m having trouble choosing colours for everything! Bidesmaids, Groomsmen, seat and table coverings, flowers, centrepieces, etc. Please help me!
Claire,
Where will the ceremony/reception be held on the grounds? I say go with the natural setting.
* this would be GORGEOUS in the venue, it has all the right colors, not sure about the linens then you could change them to a champagne or sage/olive.
Claire,
OOPS! forgot the link.
* A provencal wedding (Brides)
Do you have a suggestion for the colour of the bridesmaid dresses?
Claire,
It depends on the skintone and your color scheme. For this setting I could easily see a burgundy or another classic color.
* here are some great tips
Have you settled on a color scheme?
We haven’t settled on a colour scheme yet. I’m finding it difficult. Both bridesmaids are brunette with tanned skin. I’ve always said I want a ‘natural’ wedding although not entirely sure what that is! Would some kind of brown work? I haven’t chosen my gown yet but I do know that it won’t be white.
Thanks for your help, I’m hopeless with colours and I’m very indecisive!
Claire,
natural meaning earthy, rustic etc. What about going with a brown, green, and cream wedding? I suggest pulling in nature then.
* something like this?
* love this!!
Claire,
* this is very pretty
* or this one
* stunning
* this one will make you feel comfy and right at home
Claire,
* there are no words
* this would sooooo work and fit the design of the venue
* gorgeous
*sooo amazing
Claire,
* this is beyond amazing, so beautiful!
Wow all these pics are beautiful! Just one big problem, My fiance hates green! Brown and cream are nice, he just doesn’t want the green. Would any shade of brown work?
Claire,
I would go with a beautiful chocolate brown with white.
* search by color on this site
* you might like stuff on this page
* more ideas
Claire,
* thought I would share this!!
* so beautiful!
* you might find inspiration from this, using grapevine etc. It really is beautiful Swap the green for brown in the table settings
Thanks Stacey. The ceremony will be outside and the reception inside the room that has the big wooden and glass doors.
Claire,
* check this out. Your venue has a southwestern vibe, wouldnt these centerpieces be sooo unique!! it has that natural setting. I just love this!!! It would so fit in with a chocolate and cream color scheme. Gorgeous!!
Very cool! I think I’ve made up my mind, chocolate brown and cream. Now to figure what colour flowers to use……
Claire,
Just use natural flowers of creams and whites with some greenery. Or pull in a touch of red, like red berries. Something earthy/woodsy.
Hi Stacey, so i’ve decided to go with a rustic theme. Brown b/m dresses, black suits for guys, brown ties for g/m to suit b/m, groom’s tie to suit my dress. White long sleeve shirt wth vest, not sure what colour. What colour wedding dress would look best? I don’t want white. I’m not sure what brown to do the b/m dresses in. What do you recommend for table coverings? For the flowers does cream roses with some greenery and twig things sound ok? or what about adding those antique roses? They’re sort of pinkish I think.
Thanks for your help.
Claire
Claire,
* wedding dress colors and skintone
A nice chocolate brown would work. I would have the girls try on the shades to see which one is more universal. For table coverings you could use a cream it would really work with the venue, brown napkins, cream florals with the “twigs”, oh yeah blush roses would be a beautiful compliment!!
Claire,
* check out kim and alex wedding decor
* you coudl also use a mocha linen like here
* love these centerpieces with the rocks in cylinder vases( can get for a buck each at dollartree.com)
Claire,
* here is the wedding centerpieces
Thanks again Stacey! I love the wooden chairs but unfortunately we can’t get them where we are so have to make do with white plastic chairs. I’m worried its going to ruin the reception look. If I can get hold of cream table cloth’s shall I also use cream chair covers? If I can’t get cream wohat would look best out of white or black?
Claire
Claire,
White or brown( the cream flowers would pop against this) would be best and use alternate colored sashes , it will be super nice. I wouldnt use black.
Hi Ladies,
I really need some assistance, I am planning a wedding for October or November of 2011. The colors am leaning towards would be a combo of gold and cranberry with a touch of mocha. I need help with picking the centerpeices as well, I am on a tight budget and would like to use flowers that would be cheap in those months.
Here’s pic pf the venue the chairs have since been updated and I am planning on using chair covers… {help is need with the colors for those as well ;}}
Rolicia,
I think cranberry and gold is beautiful. I would lean to more of a champagne. The room is dark so any dark flowers will be hard to see, the candles will bring in more light. I recommend champagne linens, even mocha linens with champagne overlays. If you still want the mocha. Personally I think just champagne and cranberry would be perfect, cause of the venues beauty. Your florist can help with the flowers on a budget and season( local and season is key). Roses can be bought in bulk. Have guys in black with champagne or cranberry vest/tie then girls in either shade carrying cranberry florals. If you use a single type flower in a single color it will save on costs.
Rolicia,
* look at this
* bingo! this is exactly what I was thinking! If you want mocha then use mocha ties around napkins and maybe chair sashes. The champagne would light up the room, needed less uplighting. etc. Therefore working for your budget better saving you even more.
Thanks alot Stacey
My fiance hates the colors that I have chosen, I guess Im back to sqaure 1….
What colors would you suggest? I’ll try to upload a better pic
http://www.culinardspecialevents.com/venues.cfm
the link above is one of a wedding that was held the venue…
click on the album for Pelham Civic Complex
Rolicia,
Not a problem! What colors does he lean too? In a situation like this I usually ask for a list of colors that you both like and then narrow it down, according to venue, to compliment the setting. You pick a color and he picks a color.
Hi Stacey,
Would you please create a board for me using the colors burnt orange, mocha, and gold? With the guys in a brown tux ajnd the females wearing the burnt orange.
Thanks
Rolicia,
Here is your board.
Thanks so much Stacey,
I absolutely love the board, Im so ready to show this to my fiance. We are having battles of the boards.. Im really loving the warmth of my color scheme but he is leaning more towards the colors of our birthstones, the colors he has decided are navy blue/turquoise and brown..
What do you think about that?? I also would like to post a link to the ceremony venue if you’re interested….
Im getting more and more excited! 11-12-11!! whooo hooo
BTW!! With his color scheme we are leading towards incorporating peacock feathers…
Your thoughts??
Rolicia,
The blues and peacock feathers I think would be “too” much for the venue. The venue has alot going for it and is so beautiful. If you used blues then have the bridal party in navy with the pop of oranges, red etc. in the bouquets, then pull in a napkin ribbon of navy-only touches. I dont think I would use the peacock feathers and I would stay away from aqua etc. It is important to find colors to work with the setting and aqua/turquoise etc. would clash. I would stick with the warm colors or use a cream and gold scheme.
Stacey,
I am wanting to use purple, chocolate brown for my wedding colors BUT im not sure how this would turn out. What color purple I should use? What color of tux for the men to wear. My dress is white. My venue is on the river bend in April of 2011. Can you help with a color palete. Thanks! Ashley
Ashley,
This colors scheme is stunning together.
* some pics
If using purple for bm skintones..
* check this out
Actually why not go with a mix of purple florals from light to dark. If the guys don’t wont to wear brown tuxes/suits you can always use khaki or black with brown or purple vests etc. Brown dresses with purple sashes.
I need help… My bridesmaid dresses are a toast color and I am thinking of rinestone jewlery but need an accent color. What does everyone feel about green and yellow? I am afraid the flowers will look plain with just green and yellow and may need a pop of another color? but is that too much?
flower,
green and yellow are amazing when paired together.
* some pics
Hi Stacey
I have decided to look at another colour scheme for my wedding, Yellow, Silver and chocolate brown. Can you please assist with a mood board. My wedding venue is Everwood Country Weddings in SA. and their url is: http://www.everwoodweddings.co.za/

Please help me
Confused bride
Lebo
Lebo,
Not a problem. Could you give me the details of what color you want your bridal party to wear etc. And I will pull some ideas. Thanks!!
Lebo,
* here is one I did a while back
lebo,
Just made you a new board
Thanks for the board Stacey
I was thinking the gals dresses could be yellow, with a touch of silver, the guys in Chocolate brown, and the groom, I was thinking, of a combo of chocolate brown and cream, what do you think? Please help.
Lebo,
I think it sounds very nice. Make sure the yellow will suit their skintones. Yellow is a difficult color to wear.
Hi Stacey
Thanks.
Can you please do a board for me, with the bridesmaids in yellow, the grooms men in brown & white, and the table settings in chocolate brown, yellow and green. What colour do you suggest the groom should wear?
Thanks
Lebo
Lebo,
*real wedding
Lebo,
* here is one with black and white instead of brown-just visualize it with brown and this is what it would look like
For some reason I am having a hard time finding the right pics.
Lebo,
your board, I did the best I could with the pics. Hope you like it.
i need some ideas for an aqua and cream wedding. the date is 8/27/11….i am looking to incorporate a touch of brown somewhere in the decor but i am clueless as to how to do so…the venue is wyckoff manor…the bridemaids are wearing aqua dresses amd the groomsmen cream suits with aqua vests, etc. i need ideas please!!!! all suggestions will be greatly appreciated :)
Quana,
I couldn’t get a good pic or link to the venue. Do you have one? Youcan always add brown satin ribbon to bouquets, to boutnnieres, napkins, chair sashes, inks on programs, runners, etc. Do something in a great aqua/brown damask-like menu or program ribbon. Do a brown edge or design on cake. the flowergirl in brown with aqua sash.
* pic ideas
Is this a better pic?
Quana,
Thank you. I would do simple brown overlays on the tables. It would look stunning. I actually like the way they have it decorated here. You could always use this as a guide and have the aqua in place of the pink, keep the white, pul in the brown in place of the black. It would be very nice.
Hi Stacey! I am getting married 1/1/11 and I could use some advice. It’s a small wedding, one bridesmaid, one groomsman. The bridesmaid dress is chocolate brown (but not a style where a sash could be added). My fiance wants to wear a black suit. I’m using brown, ivory and olive green as my colors. How do I dress the groom and groomsman? Matching, since it’s just the two of them? Should I try to work the green into their outfits or skip it since my bridesmaid has no green? What do you think?
Kelly,
I would just skip the green except in a boutonniere. I am assuming you are using a mix of green in bouquets.
* as in the pic this looks VERY good with a black suit.
* so does this( something like this would work) I have seen a mix of brown, black, and olive in paisley neckties in stores, very nice.
need help with colors we chose chocolate brown tuxes w/ chartreuse vest/ tie and dresses w/ chartreuse sashes groom will wear a white tux and I’m not sure what color for him as I found this gorgeous dress (attached) but not sure if it will work with the brown and green
Please help
Krystal,
This dress is beautiful. It could go but may not flow well with the other colors. The only thing is adding burgundy or cranberry to the florals to pull it all in. It all depends on your wedding date.
It would resemble these colors together: * here
* or this except using burgundy in place of orange, nice isn’t it!
we’re getting married august 19, 2011 i’m really nervous about this color i was thinking about only using it for me and the groom
Hi Stacey,
So decided to not go with the dress I didn’t feel confident that it would work well with the chartreuse and chocolate brown but I still felt that I needed another color as there wasto much brown and green we are getting married at a golf course which also has a orchard on it too so I have decided that I will use fuschia or hot pink with it too. What do you think about that?
Groom in white and chartreuse
grooms men in brown and chartreuse
bride in either plain white or i found a pale pink and white dress not yet decided
bridesmaids in fuschia or hot pink and brown sash
I feel more confident with these colors and with it being right in the middle of summer
Help and advice PLEASE
Thank you Krystal
Krystal,
Sounds very nice!
* this is beyond nice! I love how they did this wedding: fun, elegant, and chic!
I have to say they girls in brown with the colored bouquets really pop!
krystal,
* this is a stunner!
* beautiful
* wow!!
* part 2
* part 1
Krystal,
* look at this
I love your dress where on earth did you find such a pretty dress if you don’t mind me asking
Krystal,
Do you know the name of the designer for this dress or even the website you found it at? It’s so pretty exactly what I have been looking for. The one u decided not to go with. Is that brown or burgendy? What state did you find it in? Let me know if you could
Hi Jackie,
It’s http://www.privatelabelbyg.com and it’s in burgundy but you can get it in black and also in pure white and silver check it out I tried the dress on its beautiful I fell in love with it but it just wouldn’t work for me with the colors we had decided on hope the info helps
Krystal

Hi Stacey
I am getting married next March 2011. My colours are mint green, chocolate brown and orange. I need assistance with the men though. My fiance has decided to be all black, and I was thinking the guys could wear black tux with chocolate brown vests and cream shirts. I just need to convinve him about the tux. Could you assist me with pic’s, moodboards, centrepieces, etc.
Thanks
Lebo
Lebo,
* here is one alternative that could be done
* real wedding ( you can look thru this site by color)
lebo,
Let me know if it worked out!!
The board I made you has the tux you werew thinking about.
Hi,
I’m getting married 11/11/11 and I want my colors to be brown,turquoise, and cream. I don’t know weather to have my bridesmaids in every other color (brown/turquoise), have them all in one color and my MOH in a different dress, or all in the same color and my MOH in the color not worn by the bridesmaids. And for the groomsmen I am just lost on weather to do black or chocolate brown. My dress will be ivory/cream to balance the colors… Any ideas?
Also, my reception is at the sheraton, what are some unique ideas to make the space my own? I’m also getting married in our church, which is older and smaller, what are some alter ideas that I could use?
tanniqua,
I personally love the look of all one color with opposite colored sash. Then have the MOH in a dress of the sash color. It looks nice. Guys it depends if they will wear brown, if not, you could use black with colored vest. Some weddings that are less formal are on the beach, use a khaki or taupe. Do you have a link to the sheraton where it will be held?
Im getting married in June 2011 and I cant decide on my wedding colors. I want something elegant and rich. I want to have the color brown and yellow with either gold or beige. Will this look nice? HELP! cause i am really confused! I want my centerpieces tall and inside the vases have lemons in it. Will this look good?
kirsten,
brown and yellow looks very nice together. It is a fail proff color scheme like black and white etc.
* pics
* centerpiece
* wedding board
How should the table set up be? I dont want it to dark and i want it to look nice?
Kirsten,
Do you have a pic of the reception room? So I could see what colors would work? Were you planning on renting table linens? what color?
* look at this
yes this is the ball room.. im thinking of having brown and light yellow? any ideas how thats going to look? and how the decorations and the stage should look?
Kirsten,
I love the venue. The room has elegance so I would keep it with the style. To keep it light I would use a champagne linen. Think lace or a pattern.
* like the linens etc. here even taking cue from matching color napkins pulling in the brown ribbon around it. Jewel optional but striking. Pull in yellow florals in brown containers. Programs or table numbers in a damask print or scroll edge table card or program. Would be swoonalicious!!!
Kirsten,
You know after looking at the wedding idea pic. You coudl do an exact replica using low centerpieces, and using a mix of corals with yellow with the brown. Cause looking at the one reception pic it looks more pinkish instead of reds and yellow. Total wow factor!
My daughter is getting married next October and she has chosen chocholate brown and teal(really teal not tiffany blue) we are meeting with the florist next week and would like some ideas for the cloros and types of flowers. thanks
Sandy,
With this color scheme white looks amazing with this. i would talk to the florist about some budget florals and what they can come up with for the venue. Unless your budget permits for more elaborate florals. make sure you take a photo of the wedding dress and give the overall style of wedding along with what the venue style is.( tall vs. low arrangements-making sure guests can still talk and see one another if they are tall centerpeices). These are important to bring along. The decor will compliment and flow well.
My sistere-n-law had chocolate, teal, and white for her wedding which was in September. We wore chocolate bridesmaid gowns, it was beautiful. The color was gorgeous.
Hi I am getting married April 16th 2011, we just got engaged this saturday. I am wanting chocolate brown, pastel pink and aqua blue for my colors but i am not sure how to arrange them…i was thinking pink/brown for bride and maid and aqua/brwn for groom and best man?? Anyone have any ideas on how to mix it up?? Thanks!
Crystal,
Actually I am thinking using brown and aqua as main colors pulling in pink florals. Could I see a pic of your venue so I can see how to do the decor?
I’m getting married May 7th 2011. I absolutely love the colors turquoise, dark chocolate brown, and ivory. What do yall think? If I use these colors, what color should my fiancĂ© wear? What color should the grooms men wear (black or brown)? Open to any and all suggestions.
Thanks
Katie,
* gorgeous ideas and pics
I would consider the brown tuxes, as long as the guys will wear it!!
* more ideas
I am getting married May 28th, 2011 and my colors are chocolate brown, ivory and light blue. The guys are going to wear simple black tux with ivory shirt and ivory tie, and the girls are wearing chocolate brown tea length dresses. The flowers are vendela roses (ivory) and light blue hydrangas. Hope this helps and good luck with your planning!
hi pam i am also getting married may 28 2011 and using turqouise chocolate brown and ivory. best wishes
Hi….I am getting married September 24, 2011 and for the most part we are well on our way with venues, etc. We are going to have an outside ceremony at a local winery simply because I want to get married in nature and our reception will be held indoors which we have narrowed down to two locations. My girls have picked out a gorgeous chocolate brown dress (they call Truffle) which I loved. I am having a difficult time with choosing colors for the guys. My fiance refuses to wear anything but a black tux and it’s day too so he should be able to do so. I don’t think that a deep brown vest would look that great and was thinking of maybe throwing like a cream vest in to offset the darker colors. I also wanted to use orange somewher so was thinking of using orange in our flowers and the mens flower (kind of use it as an accent color). Just having a hard time pulling it all together and deciding what to do. If I do in fact use cream/ivory colored vests I was thinking of carryin that same color into things such as the ringbearers pillow and flower girl basket. Maybe if I get this together I can come up with something for centerpieces. I have been searching everywhere and can’t seem to find anything. I want a fall like feeling but also though about carrying the winery into the reception. Perhaps some wine glasses on top of fall leaves filled with water and floating candles??? I don’t know!! PLEASE HELP!!!!
Michelle,
The black with cream will look great or a champagne. Using a creamy orange in the florals will really look nice.
* here are some pics so youcan see.
Michelle,
You could do grapevine in containers or small glass vases then have other galss containers with floating candles. brown runners, white linens, white napkins with a brown and orange wrap.
Hey there! I am getting married in April 2011. My colors are chocolate brown and blue (darker than light blue, but lighter than royal blue). My girls will be wearing chocolate/espresso brown in a satin fabric. What color shoes would look right? I was thinking, gold? or Silver? or should I just stick with brown?
Amy,
It depends on the accent you have. I think silver would look amazing. Brown is also reusable. I would let my girls pick out something great!
Thanks for the advice. I have asked my girls what they think, and they have no idea, so that is why I am seeking advice. They will be wearing pearl jewelry and the flowers are white orchids and blue calla lillies. I’m not really sure how I can tie the look together with the shoes.
Amy,
Okay. I am thinking silveror brown. Both of thois would work really well. Maybe even a brown pair with some silver accents.
Hi!
We are getting married next summer. I am going to have the girls in chocolate brown tea length dresses with the guys wearing khaki linen suits. Our other colors or green (hydrangea green not emerald green) and white/cream. Any thoughts on what the guys should wear to dress up their suits a little bit more….chocolate brown ties???? Thanks!!!

Kirsten,
I would definitely have the chocolate brown ties,shoes, and belts would look very nice!
Kimberly,
Not at all. having guys in black with brown or white vests would be nice.

Im getting married in January and have choosen chocolate brown as one of my colors but need help deciding what other colors to match it with. The chairs are going to be covered in chocolate brown linens but again havent decided on the table overlays or the bridesmaid dress color. I also wanted to use white roses as my centerpieces, not too sure though.
Cindy,
What about using a simple brown and white color scheme? It is very elegant. Can I get a look at your venue? Pic or link?
I dont have pictures of the hall but it will have 40 round tables. And 2 of the walls are covered with mirrors (opposite from eachother). I was thinking that I should change the color of the chairs to white and have the table overlay be brown so the white roses can pop from the table. Good idea? Also, I saw this rust color as a table overlay combined with the chairs in brown and it looked nice but I think that might look a little too dark.
Cindy,
I do love the idea of the simple brown and white. You could have the brown chair linens with white linens ( like a printed or textured white linen) have simple white roses with curly willow. It would be stunning. Add votives. Another thing you coudl add is a matching brown runner.
* this is beautiful!
Hye everyone.. I am getting Married 5/21/2011. I have for the most part outlined and secured the venue (reception), wedding, my dress, caterer. However I am still working on style/idea for bridesmaids/ flowergirl dress, and favors. I would love to have a dessert/candy buffet station. My colors are chocolate and pool blue. If you have any ideas on style, color combos, and the candy buffet, and, or any type of favor. I would greatly appreciate. If any one had a station and has items for sale. That would be great.. Thanks. Kellie Watson

Kellie,
If you do a candy station I would have little bags available and let that be the favors.

Hello! I am getting married June 5, 2011. I really want to use chocolate/dark teal/and gold for my colors. I found that gold bridesmaid dresses look GREAT against my dress….but I am totally confused on how I should tie everything else together (flowers, table decor, what the boys should wear. etc…)! Any suggestions or ideas would help!!!!! Here is a link to my venue…. http://www.roberthallwinery.com!
Thanks in advance!
Brianna
Brianna,
Sounds beautiful! What do you think of adding peacock feathers to this combo? I think the guys would look amazing in chocolate with gold or champagne vests. You could even look to a champagne gold instead for the dresses too.

Another thing you could do is add grapes to your decor. In the centerpieces that would be beautiful. Let me know which direction you wanted to go. Modernish, classic, etc.
OOOOO! I love the ideas Stacey! Peacock is a great way to make all of that come together and the boys with choc tuxes with gold vests sounds good too! Grapes!!! why not it is a winery… LOL
IDK modern or classic… well I guess I should try and match the style with my dress>>> here is a link to what my dress looks like

You are soooo much help!
Brianna,
Gorgeous dress! This dress will fit so well with the peacock theme and the grapes! It has that classic yet update feeling. When you have the peacock feathers and the grapes it is gonna have a winery feel which is gonna have a classic feel. Here are some * winery weddings to see what I mean. Some of the brides dresses resemble yours.* more weddings
