Month by Month: Wedding Themes and Colors for Every Season
Here we try to do just that. Granted, these are just suggestions ... and they don't take into account destination weddings, or seasons outside of North America, for that matter. Not to mention: a grandly-decorated venue is a blank slate you can transform into anything, any time of year. And some of these themes and colors are really fine for year-round use, though we didn't want to repeat them over and over (Black & White or Fifth Avenue Aqua being two examples).
But all disclaimers aside: if you want some great color combination or theme inspirations for January, June, or anything in between, read on!
March, April
If your climate cooperates, this is a wonderful time to celebrate spring's earliest bursts of color, flowers and delicate life forms: Lilies of Valley and Shasta daisies, daffodils and tulips, butterflies and dragonflies. Brides are instinctively drawn to pastels like lavender or yellow, whimsical and romantic pairings like red and pink, or combos with a modern bent like pink and lime green. A monochromatic look using all shades of pink is also totally spring (and stunning).Some popular themes for spring? Cherry Blossom, Butterfly, and Irish or St. Patricks, to name a few.
Also, popular spring color combinations that double as themes include Aqua Blue (Fifth Avenue Style), and Pink & Green.

May, June, July
Summer brides sometimes complain that they can't find any summer themes, besides the usual beach or garden. Not to worry though: there's more here than you might expect. Summer also offers some of the most brightest, most energized palettes for brides who aren't afraid to play it modern. Contemporary picks include orange and fuchsia, green and hot pink, black against any kind of eye-popping-color, and chocolate brown and pink (or aqua).Favorite themes for summer are numerous, but here are just a few: Garden, Daisy, Enchanted Forest and Victorian Garden, Beach, Starfish, Hawaiian Luau, Preppy/Nautical and Poolside. Don't forget Patriotic or Baseball, Fairytale or Asian Garden, Polka Dot or 50's Retro, and South of the Border, Rustic Country or Western.
Color Themes for the warm summer season include all kinds of Green, Cornflower Blue, Orange & Fuchsia, Black & White Toile with summery accents like yellow or pink, Aqua Blue (beach style), and the lighter purples, like orchid or Aubergine.

August, September, October
The colors alone bring this season near to the hearts of many brides who can't imagine tying the knot any other time of year. From russet to pumpkin orange and cinnamon to vanilla, the scents and famers' market decor of an outdoor Autumn wedding makes a setting like none other (not to mention the awesome photos!). Another plus: the grapes are ripe, and it's time to celebrate a brand-new season of wine.Popular colors for this time of year include latte, mocha and chocolate brown, rust orange and burgundy, hunter green and gold. Nature-minded themes are all the rage right now, including New England Harvest, Harvest Modern and Halloween, "Perfect Pear" and Apple, Tuscan and Wine Theme, Herbal and Rustic Country. Chocolate Brown also amounts to a theme ... one that suits the season to a 'T'.

November
November's long been a sticking point for brides who want to stay close to nature, but aren't huge fans of the bright, brassy colors of autumn. We've try to address this dilemma with our new "Fields of Gold" page, which pays homage to the natural world and November's subtler palette of creams and golds. For more urban, indoor and delectably chic approach, seize on this time of year for a 1930's Retro / Art Deco Theme, with its November-friendly palette of gold, ivory, sepia and black, and its oh-so-apt nostalgic feel.
December, January, February
Friends and family are stuck inside, desperately hoping for a romantic diversion. Which is why this time of year's about making big, elegant gestures: going back in time, playing with lighting levels, indulging in romantic fabrics and heavy molding ... in short, transforming an ordinary interior into a portal to another world. Favorite colors for this time of year include ice blue, silver and white, gold, red and green, metallics paired with black, ivory on white and vice versa, and all the shimmery jewel tones.Top themes that fit the season include those with a pale palette and opulent look, such as Calla, Parisian or Versailles, or those with a holiday feel, such as Christmas, Victorian Christmas, Winter Wonderland, or Diamond or Crystal Theme. Of course, Valentine's Day is a natural for those marrying in February, but the bold red and white palette works just as well for any other deep-winter setting. Finally, maybe it's the Oscars, or just a need to cut loose after too many dark afternoons, but there's no better time of year to hold an Old Hollywood or even Vegas theme wedding.
As for color themes that suit this time of year? All-White, Regal Red, Black & White, and Royal Purple.

What'd We Miss?
We know this list is hardly exhaustive... there are plenty more themes and color schemes tailor-made for autumn or spring. Why not share some of your favorites below?

Hi girls! Im gettin married Dec. 27th and im still stuck on what to do for decorations! My FI dosent really want Christmas decorations.. but i told him to bad b/c thats what were gona do. Our colors are black and white… with a little bit of red. And really.. i have NO idea what to do! any ideas?!?
desiree, a chic and simple way for centerpieces is those red berrys at christmas!! i didnt know if candles would be a part of your theme, but candles set in a vase surrounded by red berries would be a stunner!! you can make everything from that red berry garlands, everything!!
bm i am guessing are in black?!? have them carry the white flowers tied with black ribbon and you carry the red bouquet(it will pop better against your dress) or let them carry a handmuff in white. it doesnt have to look like christmas, smile!! a simple black and white table( white linens with black napkins etc, would look best with this) also with glass vases water food dyed red with those red berries would be even more fantastic!! if you want you could mix in evergreens but unless you want the christmas feel, i wouldn’t.
if you do want christmas touches have it in your cake, example a present wedding cake. have the ringbearer carry a black tassleled white pillow with your wedding date and names embroidered or a catchy phrase.( it could be a great momento for the future). another chic idea is set branches in red colored water, glass vases) or buy red vases. i have a few pics to send i hope they help! also you could use red paper lanterns so easily as shown in pic.

* wedding inspiration board: red, black & white

* HGTV: Floating Cranberries
desiree, rest of pics… i just love the red berries, i dont know if it has been ued much in weddings, so you could be setting a new style!! it will be breathtaking and you can do tall vases as well as low, they bunch very well!! check out artificial ones. plus you can get them anytime but hit the decor/craft stores now!! smile!! this will be inexpensive and if you get artificial reusable for all those holiday decor, from tree, to stair banister. skys the limit!!. it will look super chic!!
desiree, oh yeah let me know what you think and your fh. i hope he will love it!! its more of a winter wedding, instead of christmas. but yet could pass for that too, in subtle touches kinda way.
oh thanks for the ideas girls. ill be heading to the store today to have a look around. Also… kinda hard to get FI’s opinion.. he’s in the military :)
I am having a fall wedding but I really want to do like a royal blue. How can I make that go with fall colors?
ashley, oh it would be beautiful. put your girls in royal blue. add fall leaves into bouquets, your arch the reception centerpieces, and arround cake. have your centerpieces in beautiful colors of the shades of orange tie off girls bouquets with royal blue ribbons(thick wide ribbon) consider adding peacock feathers to centerpieces or beautiful pheasant feathers, i saw them in christmas arrangements at a decor store last night they were gorgeous!! pull in grapes and other fruits into your centerpieces if you dont like the feathers.
orange flowers ranging from orange to peach with fall leaves, that would be sooo pretty!! looking at pics i think i like the ranges of orange the best!! with this. from peach to deep orange. i think the softer oranges make it look softer. so think apricot, peach, tangerine, and a deep orange added to the mix. monochromatic. then have a more orange reception. if your going the rustic route have rustic wooden containers for flowers, add soft brown runners to tables, just add touches of brown here and there. for more inspiration go to brides.com realweddings rustic theme. then theknot.com under wedding photos blue then orange wedding.and season under real weddings.
i would hands down go with the shades of orange(softer). if you do tie in brown then you can wrap girls bouquets with that. all these colors look stunning together. and fall is a mix of it all. think fall trees next to a blue sky!! beautiful!! dont 4get the caramel apples!!

* Orange Crush//Running Wild

ashley, and the grapevine!! smile!!
You’re a genius. I love this scheme, and what a beautiful way to tie it into fall.
hello. i’m in the beginning stages of my sept. 09 wedding and having a really hard time sticking with a color theme. origianlly i liked burnt orange and brown but after thinking about it i don’t like the idea of having the gm wearing brown tux’s and i don’t think the brown dresses would look right next to the black tux’sso now i have found serene, its a medium blue with a silver sheer to it, and silver but have been told that its not appropriate for fall. if someone can help me decide i would greatly apreciate it. thank u so much in advance!!!!
stacey, hi!!here is something you might like the blue will work but if you want it more fallish. put your girls in the serene. and add the bouquets i have pictured decorate centerpieces with the grapes etc. actually have a grape theme if you like. next to the serene it would be breathtaking!! can put guys in a great dark navy blue or charcoal grey .using silverware and silver vases holding grapes and fruit. hang your arch with greenery, grapevine, fall leaves and hanging grapes. i would use hydrangea and/ or roses for my flowers. pew markers keep to simple grapevine and ribbon. have a grape theme wedding cake.

stacey, blue and orange go so well together. its just beautiful! i posted a orange wedding, i have used this so much for other brides to show the orange and coral against the blue water. i posted a pic of black tux with brown dresses it looks so great together. also google image black and brown tux for a tux look. it looks so elegant. one more thing head on over to insideweddings.com under real weddings…. check out the how they did this…. traditional black and white tux, bm in like a mocha gold. blended with the yellows, greens, orange, then orange carried into reception in a deeper use.

HELP, my wedding is in June, i know i know its a little bit late to just start the planning process but well here i am. I cant decide on a color scheme, i thought about doing like a dark red with white and black but my fiance doesnt like it. Anyone have any ideas?
britney, are you gonna have a theme? what are you and your fiance’s fave colors? i personally love navy blue for june weddings, it looks classy and not as dark. you could have a something blue theme wedding. ( google image navy blue wedding board and then navy blue wedding then navy blue and yellow wedding board)
* let’s keep the green, but replace the yellow with blue
citrus colors are also a great scheme!! i think this would also compliment the navy or put entire bridal party in wear again black and put citrus bouquets next to it!! very nice!!! keep your theme citrus, save some $$$ by having real sugar rolled lemon centerpieces with sprigs of greenery. ( i love this the best actually) if your having a less formal affair put girls in black and guys in white shirts and black slacks.if not, black then use brown or navy bridal party colors. here are some examples…
* HGTV: Sugared Fruit Displays
* Board #284: Budget Friendly #16, Citrus Elegance ( gives details for a budget friendly wedding!! its nice!!)
* Main Squeeze (Citrus Theme) ( this is gorgeous and i hope you both love it to!!)
Let me know what you both think!! If you dont care for it after discussing your colors please dont hesitate to let me know!! i would love to research further!!
It’s never to late to start planning although others may disagree. The advice Stacey gave is good….but never 2nd guess yourself. This a special day fro the two of you. Chocolate and forms are chocolate are in.
I am getting married in May ‘09. My colors are jade & ivory. I am using a daisy theme, so my flower are going to be ivory, bright pink, and bright yellow. The problem is some of the groomsmen don’t want to wear a daisy boutineer (spelled that wrong I’m sure!). Is there another flower I can add with the daisy. I am on a very tight budget so roses aren’t and option.
katie, why not axe the boutonnieres?? and put a monogram or plain hankie in its place, this looks so classy? babies breath is a option too. i even love the idea of simple greenery boutonniere so springlike!! also you can go to the supermarket and buy 1 small bundle of spring flowers andmake your own!! even roses are affordable there,( you could even have a few left over to add to your bouquet! they are very affordable and easy to make.
And see this:

Hello,
My fiance and I have started and stopped planning our wedding for two years. We have finally decided to stop putting it off and just do it…IN JANUARY 09. Everything is going good except I can’t decide on the a color. I liked brown and turquoise, but my moyher hated brown and my hubby to be thinks turquoise is too strong of a color. My mom is stuck on champagne, sage and ivory but I just don’t know. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!
tameka, go with your favorite colors. you will get mixed reactions from everyone but the key is sitting down with your fh and picking 1 to 3 colors that would make your day stunning!! your mom has a beautiful color scheme and turquoise is just as beautiful and amazing with brown. so since your fh thinks turquoise is to strong i would reconsider my color options. first you can choose blue and brown wedding(google image this) you will see combos of a more subtle variation of blue. if you love bold colors and fh loves subtle or vice versa, pick one bold and pair it with a neutral like here, from martha stewart weddings:
* MS: Fuchsia & Taupe
* A Spring Green Inspiration Board
( i have posted this board before but i just wanted you to see a spring green)
also google image blue wedding for great ideas!!
* Green & Champagne Wedding
( this wedding is soooo beautiful!! tie your bouquet with a blue ribbon to incorporate the blue that you love, or tie in a special heirloom piece in your wedding or a brooch in blue, your something blue) even with the pic of bouquet i posted it would work!! and the bouquet would look great with this wedding!! tie in touches of blue here and there in wedding, if your leaning toward your moms scheme add touches of light blue to the mix it would be beautiful!! put your girls in blue. have a something old, new, borrowed and blue theme!! and if you still cant decide on colors, then go with a simple ivory or white wedding with touches of gold or silver, all these colors are classics and you will love your pics even when you grow old together! once you narrow down your colors let me know!!
* A green story… ( i love this shade of green!!)
* Wedding Theme - Grecian ( this is my favorite of them all!! so simple but with a romantic impact!! would work for january and could put bm in green)
* Wedding Wednesday - Elegant Gold Affair
I was married this past May (2008), and our color scheme was primarily peach, with white, champagne, coral, and gold accents. The color was really soft and romantic, but perfect for late spring/early summer. I obsessed over the colors for so long and was inspired by the bridesmaid dress and the invitations I picked out. Inspiration can be anywhere, just keep an open mind!
tamara, its beautiful and congratulations!!
Thanks so much, Stacey!
tamara, its a very beautiful hall, i’m looking for a beautiful hall in Maryland, where did your wedding reception take place? and also the cake looks so elegant, can you refer me to the baker. thanks a lot.
My best friend is getting married in May and she is frustated about the color scheme. She wanted a teal green and ivory but her hubby to be isn’t so thrilled about those colors. Her fav color is Pink and his fav color is Turquoise would you suggest these colors to work possibly with another added color? I want to give her a fresh idea with the colors they both enjoy. Thank You
myka, a beautiful brown would look sooo good with this palette. you dont have to use another color unless you just needed it turquoise/pink/ivory or white is gorgeous on its own!!
* Floral Arts Bahamas / Centerpieces (check out the table color schemes!! see pictures 8 and 9 its a shell theme but look at the table with the pink centerpieces!)
* Board: Understated Elegance
* Eclectic Blue, Gold & Green Wedding
* OneWed forum: turquoise with … ?
* Enchanted Florist: blue and pink
myka, one more thing!! i just thought about. i love the idea of pink/turquoise/navy blue that would look amazing together. i dont have a pic of the 3 colors but a link to the 2.
* Hot Pink, Blue, and White Wedding Colors (scroll down to board)
see isnt it great!!
i also thought a just a different shades of pink or different ranges of the blue would give another color without having a different color all together. this monochromatic scheme is becoming very popular. what i would do is put girls in navy and guys, it would look so good on them!! set bouquets with different shades of pinks even include a pale coral pink if you wish, tie with a beautiful turquoise ribbon. then have the reception area with turquoise and white and through program cards (in white with navy writing, and favors with navy blue ribbon, or navy blue napkins) have centerpieces of the pinks. wedding cake in solid white) if this is to dark, check out the understated elegance board above with pink this would be striking!!
Our wedding colors was fushica, yellow and aqua in June of 2004. Pink, turquoise and a yellow would be a beauty. There are all kinds of shades in each color. Good luck and God bless you and hubby to be!
Hello I am getting married July 09 and our wedding theme is a beach theme, but more so sea shells. So the colors we had in mind was a nice shade of blue, tan, and beige. How do you think these colors will compliment each other. We are on a budget and wanted to know do you have any suggestions on websites or companys for decorations and if you have any pics that will help me out. Oh yeah far as the bouquet how do you think it should be. Last but not least dress ideas, I have a lot of full figured women in the weddin any suggestions as the style and color of dresses. Get back to me asap . Thanks
nyya, perfect color scheme!! just add white flowers and your done, hydrangeas are one of the best!! maybe a little pricey check with your florist. if not go all out with white and/or coral roses would look fab on everything your using flower decor.think about adding tiny seashells to your bouquet of white flowers, put your bm in ocean blue, have them carry white and coral flowers with ribbons hanging maybe a seashell or 2. i cant stress enuf for a budget bride to use greenery everywhere it cuts down so much on costs. use tropical ferns etc. even tie it in in your centerpieces if you wish.
have favors of leis (this will give impact, just make sure the details pop!!)they are cheap at oriental trading, and here you will find soooo much!! that is cheap. in reception for the mood play light tropical music if your not having a band. for website, go to theknot and brides.com for all the visual ideas you need!! if real flowers are to steep, silk flowers are gorgeous check out hobby lobby) for bm dresses keep them simple!! A-line is a must, it flatters all figures, check out wear again styles. jcrew and your local department stores this theme deserves a knee length dress.
have a seashell wedding cake(google image for ideas) okay i gave another bride this idea of the colored water, but it will work for you too. buy clear glass containers round or square add a few drops of blue dye to water (desired shade with seashells at bottom, with a floating candle, now add white flowers at base or rose petals)

my wedding is in june ‘09 and i really want a lighter navy and silver as part of it, but i’m afraid they are too wintery, so i thought if i threw in a lighter blue, it would make it better? thoughts?
nicole, i love your color scheme!! you can put one other color in your flowers like have both blues with silver, have bm carry yellow, peach, or pink flowers for contrast. or just keep it with the hydrangea bouquet in link. which would look amazing agaisnt navy blue dresses. it will not look wintry if you use summer flowers and fresh greenery. it will be fab!!

Im getting married in October of 09. I know its a fall wedding but I have always wanted lavender as my main color. Im stuck on what other colors to use with it to make it look more like a fall wedding? Help please!!!!!
hi brenda, the key is adding a darker shade of purple to the mix. i could see arrangements of fall centerpieces with added plum or a rich shade of purple with fall leaves ( use this with vines, berries even fruits an veggies( squash, pumpkins, etc.)as main theme) against a medium lavender linen. it would be breathtaking. add natural elements of a typical fall wedding. have girls in a lavender hue. pretty much you will be using a couple different shades of lavender to plum. which as in fall leaves, go to your local hobby lobby or michaels. check out the fall leaves, pick the ones that have the richer tones of plum and golden colors in theme with green and rich burnt orange.i do wish you the best of luck and don’t change a thing i absolutely love it!!

Hi, I am in the process of planning my wedding Spring 2010. I wanted to know what are the best colors for a spring wedding in Florida. I really want to use the color mocha or chocolate brown, apple red, canary yellow, burnt orange and hot pink, however I am not too sure how the colors will mesh together, and what color I should have my bridesmaids wear. Please help!
quianna, i love it!! put girls in brown to anchor alos the reception, have the beautiful flower combos set against that. bouquet tied with mocha ribbon. or a beautiful green ribbon, which greenery will provide the green. i know these pics wont give exactly what your looking for but i hope it will be close!! aso consider putting girls in a shade of green with bouquets tied with brown ribbon. with a reception palette of green and white with brown centerpiece containers and the colored flowers.

I’m getting married on valentine’s day, but don’t want to go with the complete valentines day theme. Our colors are black and white with red accents. My dress will be white with a red bow and the men will have black/white tuxes. I’m stuck on the table decorations. Should i go with black tableclothes? I can’t find a centerpiece for the tables, which are oblong, not round :meh:. Do you have any suggestions? I’m from a rural area and there are no wedding planners to be found so I’m at a total loss as to how to pull this all together.
hi kasey, congrats well i came across a gorgeous (did i say gorgeous! smile) wedding table. it doesn’t look valentines day but still romantic and classic. also check out a search like “red weddings” on polyvore. great pics. if you do not want the tall centerpieces and wanna add contemporary twist to this wedding just look for low acrylic or glass square vases and add the red roses. from what i can tell the tables have black tablecloths with white overlay, add black napkins and optional black chair covers. i wish you the best. but this is definitely the direction i would go. added bonus would be curly willow among the roses.
unfortunately we aren’t able to use round tables, the are using 6″ and 8″ oblong banquet tables. I have been told that I can’t get black tableclothes, the caterer will only provide white. We are on a very tight budget so our options for decorations are limited.
Kasey, not a problem on the white linens or the tables! smile. i came across some interestingly beautiful pics, have you ever considered the most budget friendly flower… carnations? they are underrated. so beautiful in tight bunches. okay for the tables. i am gonna give you another idea. for the flower i am gonna use the carnation. white carnations in clear vases tied with black ties if not ties then check out wal mart in craft section for natural black rocks and set them in vase( with any flower check to see if its harmful around food)and set carnations in vase voila! check out oriental trading company for some CHEAP wedding items! including takeout box favors. tie these with black ribbons. have red carnation bouquets against black dresses. keep your arch simple lush greenery. have 2 vases on side of this with arrangements of white carnations and curly willow or free branches if you live near woods. have these same arrangements at beginning of aisle also if you wish. omit flowers and keep just branches if you wish, simple chic against lush dripping greenery.
i found a website said you can get 2 dozen carnations for under 20 bucks and that included shipping but just as cheap local. reuse your decor in reception area if you can. have a red cake. keep red to a minimal. the impact will be chic
i hope all this helps!! write back and let me know!!
* Give me tips on how to make carnations not LAME, but actually trendy.

What great ideas, thank you! Now, how do I get you to come coordinate my wedding personally? LOL
kasey, thank you for the compliment, wish i could be there! smile! i am so glad you loved the ideas. i just knew the pics and the flowers would give you a loft inspired romantic day! it sounded like it would suit what you were looking for, i sure hope you stick with the carnations, they are gorgeous! like i said very overlooked but could cost brides a fraction of the cost and still have a beautiful day!. if you need any help write back and i will help in any way possible! in the meantime this is a GREAT website and breaks down a wedding budget weddings under 2500.00 you may have more to spend so adjust accordingly. but it is amazing, i think, so helpful. i mean its all laid out for you!
i know the budget is small but with a outline like this it can be fab and doable!

I am getting married Thanksgiving weekend ‘09 and want a winter wonderland theme. This is the only date we can get married but this theme is my dream wedding. Is it ok to have a winter wonderland theme in late November?
mandy, absolutely!! november is a winter month so go ahead!! love it!!
there are to many pics to post!! so just google image winter wonderland wedding and winter wonderland wedding board.
also google search winter wonderland wedding theme and winter wonderland wedding board. but i found a wedding that will put you at ease!! and guess what the elements to me have a little thanksgiving in them too!! its a budget friendly board to boot!!! with this you could put your bm in a great copper or rust colored dress or a rich hot chocolate brown. put sparkle into this board with a FEW snowflakes ( if you like) but they are not necessary cause it looks winter wonderland. only difference i would make is putting more greenery. i just can’t get over that fab pinecone bout.!! that is so amazing!!

mandy here is the pic. oh i meant to say bm would wear the color of hot chocolate. doesn’t it work!! they would love it too cause its wear again friendly!! and would warm your wedding theme up without looking to stark ot tooo icy. that you definitley dont wont. think winter wondeland stroll in the forest. and coming back for a hot chocolate by the fire. cozy and romantic!! also google image winter wedding with pinecones for more ideas!! you will love them!! love the cake too!!
So, I’m planning a wedding for Feb. 20, 2010. I’m not a very picky person when it comes to colors. But my Fiance likes blue and silver but I’m having a wedding at the Houston Zoo. So, it makes it a little difficult to pick colors. We’re not sure if we want the Reflection pool or The Natural Encounters Building. I think we’re probably going to go with the Reflection pool though. If someone could please help me with the choozing of colors or color palets that would be great! Thanks a lot in advance :)
sarah, hi. i looked at the website it is beautiful! i even loveee the aquarium!! i live in louisiana and never heard of this place for weddings. does the reflection pool have an indoor venue by it for colder months? if so, what colors is it? i love silver and blue also. this is what i would do for the reflection pool. it has a chic sorta appeal to it.
* Style Me Pretty | Kyle Board
( look at the table, this is the simple chicness i mean with your colors of course) i think simple is the way to go, i am worried that the blue and silver wont work at the natural encounters building, it is so decorated you dont need much, like a green and white color scheme. its gonna need to be a bit rustic. or like an all cream or white palette.
for the reflection pool blue and silver will work, as long as the inside venue will cooperate. first i would put girls in either a solid navy dress(with light blue hydrangeas bouquet tied with silver rhinestone ribbon) or a light winter blue dress( with the darker blue hydrangea and silver rhinestone ribbon), (can add the palest yellow or white roses if you wish)accent bm with silver jewelry with a shimmer to it. silver strappy heels. now put guys in black , charcoal grey with the silver vest, and blue bout. for the reception keep this simple white tablecloths with silver containers and the mix of light and dark blue hydrangea(here can add the roses also) add candlelight in clear glass containers( if you do use yellow roses in flowers make the candles a pale pale yellow otherwise keep them white) there will be other silver in the silverware, have simple white plates with out chargers, on top of plate have blue napkins with monogram or other wording of choice even a program with a zoo animal on front.
brides.com has a wedding i use alot for simple ideas, jodi and aaron baja mexico. you might get some ideas here.
. if you think the girls will be wearing to much silver then have them wear blue rhinestone jewelry, and if you dont like the rhinestone wrapped bouquet just use white ribbon in a shimmery finish. i hope i helped. but if you decide to use the natural venue dont do a whole lot. same goes for the aquarium venue. just here you can use a blue palette with lots of greenery. go with a lighter or aqua blue. keep decor beach or sea themed.
just 4 fun i could not resist sending you this board, its zoo themed neat huh?!?love the colors!

I’m looking at a Sept or Oct wedding& love the color of sage and have no problems w/ pairing it off W/a deep burnt orange and dark red , but I need a base color. Would black be too harsh?
hi lizzie, your base color should be brown if your not gonna use base colors of sage bm dresses etc, then add the colors to it. i think in this case black might be a little harsh. brown would warm it up!! here is using red as the base color in addition to the colors you have chosen, plum is added.

hi, am new in the wedding design business and my present client has my head spinning .she is a 60yrs old grand lady. and wants to host a party in a large hall and wants a myriad of colors- mint and olive green, fuschia pink, burnt orange, yellow and the ccolors go on. am in nigeria and it’s not so easy gettin all the beautiful flowers i see on magazines and online. i need help here on how to design the venue using all the colors,thanks
emily, hi!! sometimes to many colors will be overwheming. the simple rule of thumb is 3 colors but it will look fantastic if done right!!
* Bright Multicolor Wedding/Party Inspiration
* Bright pink, red and orange wedding (scroll down for ideas)
* A colorful wedding at the Dana Inn in San Diego (yellow, orange, purple, pink & red)
* Tropical Wedding Romance in the Desert
* Sweet Tarts for Sweethearts
(see the table pic with the minty green tablecloth and colorful flowers this is beautiful)
thats what i would do is pick green tablecloths and set colorful flowers in vases add greenery. i am not sure what flowers you have available there. if green tablecloths arent an option then keep the white do the colorful centerpieces (as in pic) have place settings etc. on plates have party favors tied with mint green ribbon or a menu card. (also a great touch would be to tint water a beautiful ocean blue color or mint green water, to bring in color there, without actually having it everywhere, trial run to see how many food dye drops will be needed for desired shade)
if there are other colors that she wants then do subtle touches like in ribbons elsewhere, pale colored paper lanterns hanging from ceiling ( with the colors she wants it will blend in and not be too much color) or the invites that way the guests can expect a colorful and fun party. or she can have tables each with different colored cloths and the same centerpieces on every table( keep the flowers the same thruout, it will make your job easier if you will choose the same floral color scheme and use it thruout, instead of a flower color here and a color there, that will cause more stress and xtra work)
i have a wonderful link here…
* Colorful Dinner Party
( there is a highlighted link in the text it will take you to brides.com its called faraway flavors) i think the host will love this if you presented it to her!! this should be enough without the paper lanterns if you use them anyway use white and pale green. hope i didnt confuse you, just wanted to give you a few options, that way you could see what she prefers. i wish you the best of luck, it can be a bit overwhelming but hang in there you will do great!! if you need to write back for more help please do so!! i will do whatever i can!! And congrats on entering the field!!
HELP! I’m having a problem finding colors for my wedding. I’m getting married in Nov of 09 and I haven ‘t even pick out the colors . PLEASE HELP ME…..
what type of wedding are you wanting? simple, formal, fun, church, other? etc. this will tell me alot and i will be able to research ideas for you. what are the colorsdo youand your fh like and dont like, so together we can narrow them down. consider your birthdtones or meaningful colors to you both. a fave place where a color stood out to you. like ocean blue, in colder places i have heard of vacationwedding themes where guests can relax away from the cold weather a little by getting caught up in a tropical wedding day! tons of colors here!it will make them feel like they are on vacation. also the venue what color is it? i would love to help!! there are so many choices, and this time of year is soooo easy. i love a cream and burgundy wedding that time of year, with a bit of rustic elements and sparkle, like branches with crystals. also cream and burnt orange would be amazing. with touches of brown. lighten it up with creamy white roses. i know lots of brides may not think about a brunch wedding this time of year but its amazing also. hot cocoa in front of a fireplace. ( if its cold where you live) a relaxed beautiful ceremony. soft music playing. buffet stations with choices of brunch foods. the ideas are endless. look forward to hearing from you!! and congrats!!
Im getting married in Oct 09. I def want to go with Chocolate brown as the main color but i’m having trouble with colors to go with. I kinda have my eye on Brwn with Turquoise. Or Brown Red and a lil Gold. The guys tuxs will def be brown. which is different then traditional black. Any ideas or themes? i’m open to anything…
Hi Priscilla! Try these links:
* Earth-Friendly Rustic Charm
* Gobble Gobble ( i love this soooo much, i know you mentioned turquoise, if you chose this you could add pale elegant minty green to this mix, or even a pale elegant turquoise i promise it would work!!)i will see if i can find that color.
* Hot Palette Alert: Chocolate & Cherry
google image mint green for some color ideas to see what i mean. and look at the mint green example at WeddingDepot. it might not be exact but wrapping it around bouquets would be beautiful! or just adding unexpected touches of a pale turquoise in your cake and here and there. i think it would look good. but not to overuse it, it would look to busy. good luck!!!!!
have you thought of putting a duck egg blue with the brown.. warm/cosy/ a little bit different and very eye catching ?
I really want to have my wedding in September or October of 09 but those are fall months and I want my wedding colors to center around pink. Any ideas on what would look good with pink in the fall?
You can have pink in your fall wedding, ..if you are a little concerned with the pink, then deepen it to a darker shade of pink or pare the pink ( lighter shade) with a darker fall like color.
Pink with brown are very nice and would look good if you want a paler pink shade. Or you can go with pink and a darker more fall pink, that way you are still into fall but get your pink fix.
You can have the bridesmaid dresses deep pink and have them carry lighter pink and deep pink flowers….. There is alot you can do with pink color in a fall wedding. Don’t just think light pink, think all shades of pink like these pics
Carrie — see this Late Summer Gold board ( check this out sooo pretty and with pink!!)
Help Please………….. My wedding in September 2009. I love the orange and pink wedding colors, but these are summer colors. Do anyone have any ideas what would go with burnt orange besides chocolate?
Hi Kenia — I’m sure there are many more, but here are a few to get you started (pic). Don’t forget you can also use a really soft mocha or latte color in bridesmaid gowns, linens etc. as a way to bring brighter colors (like red, purple, orange) together harmoniously. HTH!
