Month by Month: Wedding Themes and Colors for Every Season
Still at the start of your wedding planning process? Ever wish you had a guide to help narrow down the themes and colors that really suit the time of year you're holding your wedding?Here we try to do just that. Keep in mind: a grandly-decorated venue is a blank slate you can transform into anything, any time. And some of these themes and colors are great for year-round use, though we didn't want to repeat them over and over (like Black & White or Fifth Avenue Aqua).
But if you're here for some great color combination or theme inspirations for January, June, or anything in between, read on!
March, April
If your climate cooperates, this is a wonderful time to celebrate spring's earliest bursts of color, flowers and delicate life forms: Lilies of Valley and Shasta daisies, daffodils and tulips, butterflies and dragonflies. Brides are instinctively drawn to pastels like lavender or yellow, whimsical and romantic pairings like red and pink, or combos with a modern bent like pink and lime green. A monochromatic look using all shades of pink is also totally spring (and stunning).Some popular themes for spring? Cherry Blossom, Butterfly, and Irish or St. Patricks, to name a few.
Also, popular spring color combinations that double as themes include Aqua Blue (Fifth Avenue Style), and Pink & Green.
May, June, July
Summer brides sometimes complain that they can't find any summer themes, besides the usual beach or garden. Not to worry though: there's more here than you might expect. Summer also offers some of the most brightest, most energized palettes for brides who aren't afraid to play it modern. Contemporary picks include orange and fuchsia, green and hot pink, black against any kind of eye-popping-color, and chocolate brown and pink (or aqua).Favorite themes for summer are numerous, but here are just a few: Garden, Daisy, Enchanted Forest and Victorian Garden, Beach, Starfish, Hawaiian Luau, Preppy/Nautical and Poolside. Don't forget Patriotic or Baseball, Fairytale or Asian Garden, Polka Dot or 50's Retro, and South of the Border, Rustic Country or Western.
Color Themes for the warm summer season include all kinds of Green, Cornflower Blue, Orange & Fuchsia, Black & White Toile with summery accents like yellow or pink, Aqua Blue (beach style), and the lighter purples, like orchid or Aubergine.
August, September, October
The colors alone bring this season near to the hearts of many brides who can't imagine tying the knot any other time of year. From russet to pumpkin orange and cinnamon to vanilla, the scents and famers' market decor of an outdoor Autumn wedding makes a setting like none other (not to mention the awesome photos!). Another plus: the grapes are ripe, and it's time to celebrate a brand-new season of wine.Popular colors for this time of year include latte, mocha and chocolate brown, rust orange and burgundy, hunter green and gold. Nature-minded themes are all the rage right now, including New England Harvest, Harvest Modern and Halloween, "Perfect Pear" and Apple, Tuscan and Wine Theme, Herbal and Rustic Country. Chocolate Brown also amounts to a theme ... one that suits the season to a 'T'.
November
November's long been a sticking point for brides who want to stay close to nature, but aren't huge fans of the bright, brassy colors of autumn. We've try to address this dilemma with our new "Fields of Gold" page, which pays homage to the natural world and November's subtler palette of creams and golds. For more urban, indoor and delectably chic approach, seize on this time of year for a 1930's Retro / Art Deco Theme, with its November-friendly palette of gold, ivory, sepia and black, and its oh-so-apt nostalgic feel.December, January, February
Friends and family are stuck inside, desperately hoping for a romantic diversion. Which is why this time of year's about making big, elegant gestures: going back in time, playing with lighting levels, indulging in romantic fabrics and heavy molding ... in short, transforming an ordinary interior into a portal to another world. Favorite colors for this time of year include ice blue, silver and white, gold, red and green, metallics paired with black, ivory on white and vice versa, and all the shimmery jewel tones.Top themes that fit the season include those with a pale palette and opulent look, such as Calla, Parisian or Versailles, or those with a holiday feel, such as Christmas, Victorian Christmas, Winter Wonderland, or Diamond or Crystal Theme. Of course, Valentine's Day is a natural for those marrying in February, but the bold red and white palette works just as well for any other deep-winter setting.
Finally, maybe it's the Oscars, or just a need to cut loose after too many dark afternoons, but there's no better time of year to hold an Old Hollywood or even Vegas theme wedding.
As for color themes that suit this time of year? All-White, Regal Red, Black & White, and Royal Purple make good options.

Hi,
I’m getting married in April 2011 in Az. I’m having the hardest time picking out colors. I originally was thinking some sort of blue, and then I picked my venue, and it doesn’t seem to fit. I started thinking about red or chocolate brown. Right now, I’m completely up in the air and open to anything. Do you have any suggestions? I need to get my bridesmaids dresses decided as soon as possible. Here is a link to my venue and my dress (it will be ivory).

Thanks for your help!
Michelle
Michelle,
Red would be perfect. But a rich deep red.
* like in the bouquets from a real wedding held at this location
What about shades of peach to deeper orange set against rich chocolate bridesmaid dresses? Your colors could be champagne, brown and peach.
* like in the wedding bouquet, it has alost of creamy white.
Michelle,
* look thru some of these weddings
* also this site
I picked the above links because they had the “sorta” similar style that your site does.
Michelle,
You could also do a champagne, ivory, brown wedding.
* here is one board I did with white as main color pulling in a liek a coppery gold accent
* another one with peach and red
Michelle,
* This board would seriously work.
* another board
* the peach and brown I was referring to before
Michelle,
* look at these centerpieces
hi stacey, we’re planning to get married maybe november 2011,I want to have 3color combo, could you please suggest what are those so i could have choices.Tanx!
Bela,
A good place to begin is the location style/colors and the colors you both love. Also the style of wedding you want. If I could see a venue pic or link I would be happy to take a look!
Hello!
I am getting married on July 30, 2011 in a garden setting. The reception will be held indoors after in a hotel banquet room. I am having major problems deciding on colors. I would love an apple green color, but don’t know what to do with the second (or third) color. Originally thought a violet purple, but I don’t want it to look too bright or cartoon-y. Then I thought I would love navy blue and apple green, but my family thinks it might be too dark for an outdoor summer ceremony. I also don’t want colors that are too light or pastel that would just blend in with the garden surrounding. I’m lost! Do you have any suggestions for me??
THANKS!
Amy,
Not at all. Navy and green are gorgeous. Could I see a pic or link to the setting? Also what colors are in the garden? It is always best to pick a color/colors that compliment existing setting. Navy and pink is exceptional together. Plus an all white wedding with girls in apple green would be beautiful.
* look at this
I attached 2 pictures of the Garden in PA (try to ignore the fence) – There are a million different colors, and they will vary from year to year depending on what is planted. The attached pictures were taken in March, so the grass would be a little darker in color by July.
I do like the all white with girls in green. That is really sharp looking!
Amy,
hands down I would go with green and white. It would look super in this setting. Not to mention your wedding florals wouldnt compete with the scenery.
* another example
For garden weddings greenand white is sooooo ideal and so versatile. You could take cue from the garden using lots of lush greenery in your arrangements or alone in your centerpieces.
Amy,
* check out the green outdoor reception, love it!
Amy,
* or look at the green and white here, you coulf leave out the purple. See how gorgeous it is! make sure you check out part 2 of this wedding.
Amy,
* part 2
I LOVE it!! Ran it by my groom and my family, and they love it too!
Thanks so much for your help Stacey!! :)
Hello,
I am getting married in October 2011 and am having a problem picking out a third color. I want persimmon, burgandy and one more color. My centerpieces are silver and am not sure if I can have a gold table cloth under them….I think it may clash. Any suggestions?
Theresa,
* I think you may like this
Theresa,
Theresa,
* the link
Oh yes! Theresa, you could keep them pale silver or deeper silver-grey. I just love how it makes the colors come to life.
Theresa,
Brown could work too. In the silver you did mean silver containers? candelabras? it will work beautifully cause silverware will be a little more silver on the tables.
well we decided against the silver candelabras d/t budget. any other centerpiece ideas? i am thinking about an iron wagon with autumn colored leaves inside with pumpkins and candles surrounding. thoughts?
Theresa,
That sounds really pretty and whimsical.

hi i really need your help. My fiancee and i are getting maried this december 2010. We choose hot pink and silver for our motiff, do you think it would look good? the reception will be on night time so we want colors that would stand out at night. and also we still dont have a theme. and im having problems with the design of dress of my BM and flower girls…please help me! thank you.
Ashley,
That is a great color scheme. I wuld keep it classic. Have guys in classic black or even grey. Flower Girls in white or silver with hot pink sashes and bm in hot pink, black, or grey. have them carry hot pink bouquets with silver ribbon. In your reception consider simple white linen, white placesettings, silverware, silver etched or rimmed stemware, matte silver runner and pink centerpieces.

Ashley,
A theme is optional but can complete the entire look, plu, make planning easier. it can be as simple as a intitial motif, your color can be your theme, look at something you and your future spouse share and want to make that a theme, do you like bling? That goes very well with this color scheme* like here
Vintage era you love, movie, song, place, make it a destination theme wedding( honeymoon theme) it would give everyone a glimpse of your getaway. Anything goes!
Stacey,
I am getting married January 2011 on a golf course in sunny Florida and having a rough time picking out the perfect colors for this time of year and appropriate colored flowers. I love royal blue / cobalt for my bridesmaids and yet my favorite color is green. I am trying not to make my wedding look similar to my sisters wedding where she had a summer wedding with light blue, silver, white and black as her colores. We wore light blue dresses, silver shoes and I carried a yellow bouquet and the other girls carried an orange colored one… What suggestions do you have to use a royal blue and it not be the same as my sisters? Or do you think this time of year and setting I could do a green? I am so indecisive and in need of some advice. Thank you in advance!
Tracie,
Why not go with a simple royal blue and green? It is different from your sisters.
* check out some pics here
Tracie,
* I had better luck with navy and green but it will still show the look, I love it! Perfect for your setting.
Tracie,
* look at this wedding, WOW!
Stacey,
Thank you so much for your posts and that last wedding album. It was beautiful…I love that royal blue and green can go, I just think I am stressing over what flowers to put in the bouquets and what centerpieces to put on the tables. I don’t know what needs to match, what and how? We are getting the linens chair covers that will be white linens and royal blue bows tied on the chairs… any suggestions for either the bouquets or centerpieces? In my research I found dark purples and various pink colors seemed to go well in bouquets with royal blue dresses. Btw, the royal blue I am using is the Alfred Angelo color of cobalt…should I change that shade of blue?
Tracie,
Find out what is in season for the green flowers in your area. They will be the most reasonable. I wouldnt change the color it is beautiful. Just make sure the shades are matching( chair bows and dresses). Dark purples and pinks would be beautiful.

i’m getting married new years eve. I know I want my bm’s in black, but I don’t know what colors to use. I would like to have good lighting too, so I’m meeting with a lighting guy this weekend. any in what would look good 12/31 with LED lighting? I’m kind of thinking blue on the walls and accenting some things, then warm white or yellow lights? Then what color flowers? This all sounds horrible when I say it, but in my vision its great.
Suzy,
I think the perfect colors for a New Years Eve bash is black, white, silver, and purple( shade of). Or just keep it black silver white then have colors that change as the night progresses.
* total wow factor
Suzy,
* here is another one
* purple lighting
Suzy,
* check this one out.
Suzy,
Also what is your fave colors? Venue colors?
Let me know if you like the purple, if not, I will keep looking.
Dear Suzy, congrats. I got married last december, and we used silver and navy blue, and it looked classy. an Ice blue also goes really well with silver, We just liked the Navy better. So If you were using black and didnt like the purple, you could toy with the ice blue, and it would keep that wintery feel, and still be stunning. It would also add a bit of color to an otherwise dark setting. For flowers we did all white, and it also looked classy. The awesome thing about white flowers is you can put whatever color you want in them if you wish to add color.
Hi Stacey
my fiance and I are planning a wedding by march 2010… we are still confused with the colors… we are looking at sage green, yellow, purple/lilac at the moment..what can you suggest? should we pick a theme first before the colors??
i’m asian and my fiance is irish…and we are planning to have a reception by the beach surrounded by dates/palm trees…what colors/theme can you suggest
soo need your advise
thanks a lot
Feym,
Do you want to pull your heritage in the wedding? Were you thinking of the colors you suggested as a combo?
here is a website, I am thinking you will love. It has so many different pics and colors, for beach weddings. Plus they have an asian twist to them with the square black centerpiece containers.
* Look at this
* and this
Feym,
* this is gorgeous

* I like this for its appeal. It looks amazing outdoors and mixing in blue which is actually the traditional color from irish weddings.
( red is in asian cultures)
be sure to check out the entire site!! Let me know what you like!!
hello, i am getting married April 9, 2011 indoors in a beautiful hall with an older style. I have decided on a bright purple color for the bridesmaids dresses and was thinking maybe about silver as the other/accent color? DO you have any ideas of any other colors? Also, what is a good/cheap do it yourself favor that would work for my time of year?
Jessica,
I always suggest edible favors. have assorted cookies in those glass containers with lids and lil’ bags and tongs for the guests to pick their treats or have premade cookie bags all done up with your fave cookies, on the place setting or somewhere they can easily be grabbed. Guests will love it.

Meg,
did you like the winter themes? If not, you can get a theme from your venue or you and your fh personalities or interests/hobbies. If you coudl tell me a little about what you like- along with colors, and even a pic of the venue I would love to help!

hi, ive seen all the links.. great help!.. by the way if we want something related to our profession.. coz im a dentist and my fiance is an engineer, he is a mechanical engineer, the concept is like men at work in the clinic.. or maybe can you suggest on how can we execute that type of concept..in the reception particularly..
thank you so much..
meg,
If you go with the silver metal vases ( like in the pics) which is a great tablescape!!! It will bring in that sorta engineer type look but still look like a wedding. It leans to that neat design that engineers are known for. it may not be his “exact” career style but it almost has an industrial look to it too. That is another concept you could use. Anything that looks like it is a work of art, in a museum.
meg,
OOPS! didn’t post the pics. By the way, the color scheme would be appealing anywhere ( as long as it fit the venue style) It is basic black and white.
meg,
Okay, since the color theme actually works for both professions and style. have your guest book look like an appointment book or wedding programs or save the date look liek a RX prescription. name, appointment, etc. Dr.’s comments- Join us and have fun!!
* this invite here sorta resembles a prescription paper.
that would be a very nice suggestion.. by the way the songs that we’re gonna play are mostly alternative rock, can you suggest what type of arrangement or maybe how can we execute the concept to make it more fun in the reception..should it be more lights? or how can we combine the ideas of having winter wedding plus fun reception with an alternative rock songs.. can you pls help me on how can we execute those ideas?
thank you so much!
Meg,
The alternative rock songs shouldnt be a problem in the play list. Just have a great assortment. I think alot of lights would be great. You coudl have lighting that changes as the evening goes on. With everything you have suggested, I think a loft style decor would really work with your wedding. it has that hip vibe. On the playlist I would make sure there is something for everyone. Ask the DJ what is the best arrangement for getting people off their feet. if there is not a wide range then some people wont get the chance to dance.
Meg,
* look at this
* THIS would be fun decor as long as it goes with your venue.
Meg,

Meg,
* loads of tips here
* THIS style and color scheme would seriously add instant fun!
Meg,
Decor is gonna set the stage. Why not have an alternative rock style wedding theme? it would still be wintry, liek the wedding i previously gave, it would be perfect! it still has the burgundy/maroon. Think of the style of room at a hip place youlove to go too. It instantly puts you in a fun mood.
Another theme I will suggest is the Fire and Ice theme…
* pretty neat
Meg,
* scroll down on this page, wont let me post
* fire and ice real wedding, this is an amazing wedding.
Hi Stacy,
Im back again!we’ve decided to have a navy blue, lemon yellow and a white wedding color (wedding date: June 18, 2011, Philippines)…what do you think about this color combo?..pls help..thank you so much!

..thank you again, really love your ideas!!!
Am having my church wedding on Sept. 2010 and i still don’t have a choice of colors. I prefer three lovely colors. excluding Pink and blue
Doris,
What shade of pink and blue were you wanting to use? navy with pink would be very pretty. But since you prefer 3 colors, adding a burgundy with the pink would be nice. or you could go the neutral shades and use champagne, etc. Let me know and I can check out some more options.
Doris,

Overlook my last comment. I was including pink and blue instead of excluding! I got distracted.
What does your venue look like? Do you have a pic or link? Also what are some colors you are drawn too? Your future spouse?
Hi, my fiance and i are planning to get married on June 28th 2011, our theme is beach, we will be marrying on the gulf coast on the beach, reception at a beachside resort of country club not sure. I have seen some pretty colors. I really like the red, burnt orange and pink for the sunset. Also, aqua and coral. Honestly I need some good ideas open to any other color suggestions and how to use them. Pictures or anything would def. help me, trying to plan this on my own and a slight budget. Please help!!!
I just wanted to add that i am open to any other great ides and color combos you think of from dark to pastel, anything. I have light light brown hair with very blonde highlights, actually mostly my hair is blonde from the highlights and I have greens eyes. I just need any help you can give. I am going to wear a type of white, strapless, most likely A-Line and casual but with a bit of elegence it will be most likely long and wear soleless sandels
. I want a budget friendly wedding and reception but I want it to be fun and remembered, in the middle of casual to casual-semi-formal.

me and my hubby are getting married sept 6th 2014, its kind of far away but im trying to decide on colors. i dont really want the fallish colors. Its going to be an outdoor wedding. i really like coral/orangeish, medium pink, medium purple, and like a medium blue. some sites ive read said to stay with no more then 3 colors but i cant decide on which 3. is 4 to much.. would those 4 colors go good? been trying to decide.. please help.
Kirsten M,
It is best to wait til you get your venue to choose wedding colors. Even outdoors it is best to look at the scenery to see what would compliment. The colors you have mentioned sound beautiful. Look at wedding inspiration/photo galleries/then search by color at stylemepretty.com for some GREAT ideas.
Ok Ladies I need some HELP… Please!
We are getting married October 9, 2010. Thats like 5 months, 156 days away. So not that much time!! My colors I have decided to go with is Hot Pink and Brown. Do you think I should have a theme? I found these really cute diamond crystals in those colors too? I was thinking someting like that, but not too sure. Ideas? Plus I need some cheap ideas for centerpieces. Any Ideas I would really appreciate!!! Thank you!!
Larissa,
Great and easy color scheme. Since you found the diamond crystals, you could consider it a diamond theme wedding. you could have glass containers like cylinder vases and put the diamond crystals in bottom with floating candles, set on brown linens with pink napkins. Or use hot pink rose petals with candles..
* like here
Larissa,
I will always love these in varying heights grouped together on the tables.
* pic
* look at these simple centerpieces
Larissa,
Why not add clear rhinestones to your bouquet
* like this
Have a bling cake..

larissa,
If you dont want alot of bling then just leave it in the centerpieces. For cylinders or other vases go to DollarTree.com
hi, i’m getting married next year august 2011… a garden wedding…suggestions for a color/theme…i reli love color with a shade of green, i need your suggestion on combining nice colors hat fits also for the month of august….tanx a lot
Meya,
What colors bloom in the garden where you will be married. It is best to find one that compliments the surroundings. Pink and green is amazing. Another color is yellow. Also what colors to you like/not like.

Hi everyone. I need your help. Me & my gf planned to get marry next year 2011 (either September 8 or December 8), what motif is best for the planned month (either September 8 or December 8)? What color combination is best suited for us specially for asian skin tone? My gf suggested burgundy & flesh, but I guess burgundy is too strong for us. What flower combination is good for calia lily as from roses? Please help. Thanks.
Darrell
Darrell,
* here are some tips for skintone
* more tips
Darrell,
Actually burgundy, turquoise, jewel tones, jade and hunter green would be beautiful on asian skintones. For the motif it depends on what you like, for either one you could just stick with a simple color scheme and have asian accents. That would be nice for both dates. it wouldnt look out of place. Another thing is to use is your venue for the color scheme and motif. It could have a great focal point that could be used everywhere else. A initial monogram is another way to go. blush and burgundy or blush and green would be amazing for either one. So would black, white and blush or burgundy.
* click on the sample for asian skintone in burgundy
Let me know what you like as far as personality or style of wedding you prefer( romantic, outdoors, etc) and what the venue looks like and I can start pulling ideas.
Which is the best accent color for a coral and chocolate themed wedding in the Spring? Ivory, champagne, or gold?
Ashley,
Oh wow! 3 great colors that would each go well with coral and chocolate.
* would have to say I love ivory, like shown here

Hi,
ive always loved looking at this site and the colour combos are really out of this world. Now, to my question, We are getting married in July, 2011 and we are trying to set a theme, well pick colours that would work to be honest. My fiance and I both love purple, though ive always told him i do not want a purple wedding cos my bro had a purple n lime green wedding but im tinkin mayb, cos ive been looking at colours n stuff, i might do purple n green. My problem is, I love apple green and ive seen other colours that really look nice… to b honest, I dont know what we are going to do. Please can you help. R purple, blue and yellow well green ok? i dont know what to do
Labo,
What style of wedding do you want? rustic, romantic, etc.
* to see take this quiz
Labo,
What I would do is ask your future spouse to pick one color and you pick one color and if you have a venue pic or link I can look to see if it will work. For example you like purple and he likes blue. There are some beautiful combos for that, plus your wedding will be different than your brothers by decor etc.
Labo,
Dont know why but I have been tryin got send you this color quiz and it wont let me.
* gonna try this link
Labo,
* here is another by Martha Stewart
Once you take them, if you like, I would like to hear the results. These quizzes really made me think( if I were to get married)what my style would be. I thought I was one style and ended up being beach casual. Which makes sense because I am all about clean, soothing colors and COMFY clothes, and simple, fuss-free things. Who would of thought!
hello again stace, I have just done those quiz u sent me and on the knot.com, i came up as rustic and elegant colours. It completely summed up what i am. So its colours inspired by nature and the outdoors. Hmm! With the Martha Stewart one and it says to use Bold colours. Well, I love simple things and like earlier pointed out, its an evening affair so im still torn especially choosing the colour
hey stace, sorry this is late. been trying to sort out some stuff but wont work. i have spoken to my fiance about colours and he loves purple. I love purple too but thing is my bro got married using purple and lime green which i didnt want to repeat.
Anyways, he came home one day and showed me a pic he took of some flowers purple, orange and red, and it looked great. My problem now is, i dont want red, my BMs wont look good in red. Also we are planning on an evening event so im tinking colours that would look absolutely gorgeous. Anyhoo! long story short, we are stuck between purple, orange n blue or purple, blue n fuschia pink. We havent yet decided on a theme, but i tot maybe we could just deal with the colours. Il take ur test and c where we fall. Thanks for ur help.
Labo,
What about making it really simple and choosing purple and champagne or ivory? even purple and white. Evening wedding would be beautiful with lighter colors, they show up very well.

hiya!
thanks a lot for your help. Its been wonderful looking at various themes n colour schemes. We’ve decided to stick to purple n champagne for the evening. Forgot to say we are having the wedding in the day time so our purple n blue wld still stick for the day time. We are both from difft culture n we are trying to marry that together so we are having an engagement ceremony, an afternoon wedding and an evening reception.
Once again, tanx a lot. Bless u
labo,
Me and my fiance are getting married next may. We have picked out clover green and deep plum purple for our wedding, and ivory of course to go with my dress. They look really well together. I havent chose a theme yet, thinking about a vintage/fairy tail theme cus my dress is poofy. lol and its outside, so im not sure, just pick your colors and that should set you in the right direction where everything else will just fall into place. :)
Hi Sam,
Thanks very much for that piece of advice. Sounds like you’ve got everything all planned out. Wish u the very best. I tink ive giving up on colours now but yeah, they look gorgeous 2geda. Im looking for venues atm but wont bother myself. Ive got too much on my plate at the min. Tanx again
hi.. pls help.. i want an aqua blue motif for my wedding but cant decide on what other shades to combine with this color.. any suggestions? thanks.. my wedding is on december afternoon and it will be held @ a poolside.. thanks..
Kathy,
If it were me, I would pair the aqua with white and bring in sparkle textures, like sequin white table linens etc.
* or even something clean and crisp like this
* this would be stunning too
Kathy,
* something like this, also with the food dye tinted water ( aqua colored)
kathy,
* another aqua and white real wedding. White just pops against pool water.
* this is also stunning
If you wanted color then consider a shade of purple like in pic.
Kathy,
* poolside winter party
* WOW!!!! I love this. very clean look

Kathy,

Jasmin,

A theme is helpful to decorate with but optional. This could be a color theme, look at what youlove, places, hobbies, just a simple summer theme would be nice. You could also look at your venue and see what style it is. Era theme, etc.
I’m getting married in june of 2011, and I’ve been thinking very much about what colors to choose. My fiance and I both agree that light pastel blue is nice, but I’ve been looking for more options, in case I like those better. I’m a brunette, with brown eyes. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
Alicia,
Blue is a very beautiful and traditional color to use for weddings. It can be paired with alot of other colors. What type wedding are you having? simple, rustic, modern, etc. Also your venue colors and design? Do you have a pic or link I could see it?
I don’t have a picture in my folder. :-\ but I talked with my fiancĂ©e and we decided to change the colors to orange and fuchia. Its going to be an outdoor wedding, relaxed and mostly informal.
Alicia,

*more ideas
* love it!
Alicia,
* Your gonna flip for this simple and beautiful wedding
hello, good day! im from the Philippines!im amazed of your suggestions about weddings:)…just would like to ask help from you.we’re planning to get married June 2011, still thinking of our wedding motif…we’re planning to have a sporty wedding theme since the two of us loves to play badminton:)..pls help us out!..thank you
katherine,
Hi! How interesting and fun! badminton has been around a while and actually it would be neat to have a vintage style “country club” wedding. you could still put badmintons in the decor and have it set up for the guests to play along with croquet etc.
* look at this
* colors like these work. navy and green, nautical looking colors
Katherine,
My apologies for lack of knowledge on badminton. Are there badminton teams that compete there? or that you watch? do you have a fave team? If so, what is their team colors? You can go vintage or more today sports colors. you can take cue from the racket colors. usally in sports you deal with bold colors, greens, blues, yellows, red, black, etc. navy blue is an ideal choice.
Katherine,
Also do you have your venue picked out? what colors are there?
* here is one that would be perfect with a vintage badminton style
Katherine,
It was very difficult to find anything, since there is no themes for this. When I found badminton it was just listed as a outdoor game at a wedding.
* you could easily have grass centerpieces, maybe even have a birdie in each one.
Katherine,
* here are some more grass centerpieces. you could even choose one with a couple flowers then put the birdie in each one.
Katherine,
reason I am suggesting this type centerpiece because you could make it look like you were playing badminton and the birdie landed or was lying in grass. I think i would go this route. Make your decor more outdoor looking. I would probably use a palette of navy blue, white, green. it would look amazing. have badminton raquets and groomsmen/ushers form a line outside venue when you get ready to leave( like a military sword arch) then you kiss at end. For invites you could have a simple outdoor motif( like grass wedding invitations). Keep the florals super simple like they grow outdoors, using white gerbera daisies for bouquets and vases of daisies put here and there. ( use this as only type/color flower). Think of it as your planning a game in a field or on the lawn.
Katherine,
* here is a pic like i am talking about. see how this would go so easy
( have girls in navy blue dresses, if you really wanted to use rackets) let them carry rackets and have handles with white gerberas and flowing ribbon)
have badminton rackets with “perfect match” by the wedding cake or on the wedding cake.
Hi Stacey,
A badminton is an indoor game, using a racquet and a shuttlecock..i would take the navy blue as one of my wedding color, then another 2 colors (what colors should match with navy blue, pls help me..thank u)..i would like to incorporate this “hobby” maybe a little touch with the decoration, invitation, giveaways….
our fave team is from china and korea, the reception is in a hotel hall with a touch of brown colors…thank u so much:)
katherine,
Do you have a pic of the hotel hall? Also how much of the “game theme” do you want to use? And waht colors are your fave team? I could use that and try to put together a few ideas. Have you thought about navy blue and white? that is a very sporty color scheme. What about blue and yellow?
* navy and yellow is very nice together.
Katherine,
another idea I had is using a your new last name intitial for your motif, like in the design they use on the racket. same font. you could use this thoughout your paper items.
katherine,
* see how the yellow and blue go with the brown chairs
Katherine,
* I love this one
Katherine,
* this is a sports theme wedding and look how they did theirs. It is baseball but the glass favors, the logos, the framed pics with team tips and trivia
july wedding – 1/2 bridesmaids are wearing short – watermelon with champage sashes – 1/2 champage dress with watermelon sashes….i saw a chiffon gown in navy blue, but am undecided between the blue and chocolate. Or do i go pastelly?? I am blonde and may have a little bit of a tan.
Layla,
Are you a bridesmaid or the bride or a guest?
Actually both should look great on you. The navy will bring out your eyes if they are blue and looks wonderful with a tan. If you choose chocolate make it a rich summery shade of chocolate brown. You can’t go wrong with either actually. If you want to make your tan more noticed then choose lighter shades. What is your color scheme? That can help determine the color to wear?
hi stacey,
i already bought the fabric for my bridesmaids(pink lilac) and secondary(lilac) dresses..but for my maid of honor its fushia…i just having a hard time on how to incorporate them with each other…can you give me some ideas..sample dresses and all? or do i just put some beads or gems stones so they will match..like for pink lilac i will put some fuschia and purple gemstone and lilac with fuschia and pink gemstones?…plsss help me….tnx
Denise,
I wouldn’t add gemstones. I would have sashes that would make them more matching. You can choose to have them all in different colors and let the bouquets do the matching for you.
Hello, my wedding is set for March 12, 2011. Im wanting to blend purple and yellow and Im not sure how to do this tastefully. I would like to throw in a 3rd color but Im lost as to what that should be! Or what colors my BMs should wear!
Please help me!! Any feedback would be wonderful.
Tricia,
Hi, since yellow can be difficult to pull off with skintones I suggest purple. lavender is a beautiful color. Instead of adding another color why not have garden style bouquets of light to dark shades of purple with pale yellow. It would compliment a spring wedding and lavender dresses. But a deep purple would work well too. Especially if your going in a more fresh modern way.
Tricia,
I meant to ask what shades did you like of the purple and yellow? Also, are you having a spring garden wedding or modern etc.?
Tricia,
made you a board based on your colors. The only other color I would add is spring green but only in touches.
Thanks Stacey!
I was considering a lilac color. But Im just so confused! I dont really have a favorite color and I read on here that the venue might bring them out. My main concern is the ballroom and Im wondering if a light purple would do it justice. The look Im going for is traditional (if that makes sense)!
Tricia,
Lilac is a stunning color. Do you have a pic of the ballroom? I could check it out for you. Also make sure lilac compliments the skintones of the bm’s.
