Baseball Theme Weddings
"There are only two seasons — winter and Baseball."
— Bill Veeck
You've figured it out you both want to play on the same team for life. But how to play to the cheering crowd when it comes to your wedding day?
Here are a few tips for a wedding Lou Gehrig would love ... and a whole lot of experience below from baseball-loving brides.
Note to Guests: You've Got Box Seats
Try eBay for helpful stationers who can whip up elegant, personalized baseball theme wedding invitations. Or be super-chic and send your guests custom event tickets that look just like the real thing.Baseball Decor
Happily, finding a few fun touches that show off your sporty side isn't hard!A Rousing Reception
Try centerpieces featuring roses in your team colors. Chicago Cubs fan? Place bridesmaids' red and white bouquets in vases you've tied off with royal blue ribbon. Attach a handsome enameled team pin to the center of a bow, and you've got an elegant arrangement.Another fun idea: fill large clear vases with mini baseballs, and top with floral "baseballs" made of densely petaled flowers, like white carnations. Adorable!
Add table numbers made from elegant vintage baseball cards — or simply name your tables after leading lights from your favorite team.
Tastes of the Game
Got a sweet tooth? A candy buffet in your colors can be a bold and beckoning statement. Concession picks are perfect here — so are regional treats. Don't forget to fill a jar or two (or scatter the linens) with a few chocolate baseballs. Personalizing striped takeout or pillow boxes with a cute custom label is half the fun. Or, go upscale and yet still stay on theme with a gourmet popcorn bar — or, dress up nostalgic Cracker Jacks boxes with a ribbon or sticker.Ceremonial Touches
Don't forget the ceremony! A treasured mitt makes a wonderful ring pillow. And for fabulous photos, exit under a shower of pennants .... or ask your best men to line the chapel steps so you can duck beneath an "arch of bats" as husband and wife.Last but not least — hand your guests some Sharpies and have them sign a few baseballs or a handsome bat instead of the usual (yawn!) guest book.
A Moveable Feast
Create an unforgettable cocktail hour and bring the astroturf indoors by offering a few outdoor vending classics to your delighted guests — available at major rental stores: soft pretzels with mustard and cheese (or nachos & cheese), ballpark franks, movie-style popcorn, or salt water taffy in waxed paper bags with personalized labels. The carts make these fabulous. For the non-drinkers, serve up personalized bottled water ... and classic Coke with real sugar (no corn syrup!) in glass bottles. This will get guests cheering for days.
A fun addition to cocktail hour? Mock up some "sports news sections" to take to the printers, with headlines starring you and your honey:
Mark and Tori Named CCAC Couple of the Year
Baseball's Winningest Couple Returns To [Hometown]
Tori Selected To The NAIA True Love Team
Mark Earns Top Hitter, Matrimonial Distinction
Needless to say, happy stats and headlines like these are best served with fresh-cut cigars.
Baseball Favors
The baseball theme's a cinch to pull off when it comes to favors. Here are some fun ones:If your guest list's intimate, offer up baseball caps for your beloved Cubs or Red Sox on a table near the door. Or, old-fashioned Crackers Jacks in the boxes makes a head-turning treat.
Team-emblazoned cookies or individual cupcakes can really dress to impress when whipped up by talented pastry artists. Set up a baseball-themed candy buffet. Or, hand out bags of favorite hometown treats: Cubs branded peanuts, Boston Baked Beans.Attach a cute tag with a favor saying, such as You Made Our Wedding A Hit or Our Love Hit A Home Run.

Im a minister trying to find a wedding vows for a baseball themed wedding. The groom is an Atlanta Braves fan and the bride is a Cleveland Indians fan, let me know if you have any funny ideas, they want me to dress up in an umpires outfit lol
Tony,
Just found this…
Groom: I promise to love you as much as the Chicago Cubs and not hold your black and white striped dress against you. From this day forward, I will listen to all of your complaints about the mall if you say them during the off season, and promise to retire my baseball cap and face paint for public outings. I will love you in sickness and in health, from this day forward, until death parts us, or you become a White Sox fan.
Bride: I promise to love you as much as I love my credit card and not hold your poor fashion sense against you. I will only show you my new clothes during commercial breaks and promise to keep you in the latest Cub fashions. From this day forward, I will make sure your lucky shirt is washed for every game day, and will have plenty of potato chips on hand. I will love you for richer or poorer, as long as our credit limit stays high.
Tony,
This would be cute to put at the end ,mixed with a couple cute lines from above, maybe even with some traditional wording too….
“I will love you in sickness and in health, from this day forward, until death parts us, or until you become a Yankees fan.”
Stacey i love this,, thanks so much, Any more ideas would be welcomed, thanks again,, Tony
Tony,
check out Brian and Kim vows. You could reword it with baseball.
This is for football and i actually found more on that so maybe it will help… ( for loads of links google football wedding vows)
Stacey, that is so awesome,,, Are you married? lol Just kidding. Where do you find this stuff at? So cool. The groom is an Atlanta Braves Fan and the bride is a Cleveland Indians fan. And im gonna be dressed as an umpire, what the crap? LOL oh well, its all for friends. Thanks again, if you anything else, let me know. The wedding is Sept 24th, so its close, thanks again,, Tony R.
Tony,
You are so welcome!! If I run across anymore I will be happy to post!
Hi Katie – very much interested in the yankee themed table settings…can you direct me?
We recently had a subtle baseball themed wedding since my husband proposed at the ball park and we are both big baseball fans of rival teams.
For the shower, our moms got me a baseball cap with a veil and my cake had our 2 team logos on it. The save the date had a picture of his proposal on the big screen. Our programs were homemade (used paper from oriental trading co) that had a pretty black scroll down the side of it and the list of people was sort of like a roster (BM and MOH were MVP’s, officient was the ref, songs were listed as “line up” “7th inning stretch” etc) I put our new initial in a circle at the top so it looked like a team logo.
Our favors had custom baseball cards with our picture on them which people loved inside pint glasses that say “we turned 2 singles into a double play” with 2 hearts next to it.
I hand made table number cards with a pretty black scroll across the top (pulled from google images and cropped)and fancy font and named each table after a section of the park (field club, view reserve, lower box etc).
Then our officient surprised us in the ceremony by saying “play ball” right before he started our ceremony. Everyone laughed and it was a great was to set the fun tone for our wedding!
It was all pretty subtle. Aside from the save the date, people hardly noticed but were pleasantly surprised when they caught on and thought it was cleaver. I wanted to tie in the baseball theme a bit given my husband’s proposal, but I already had a very contrasting vision for color scheme etc so it worke dout well this way.
We are doing a Phillies themed wedding but only infusing the concept in certain places to keep it from getting too kitsche. For my shower, my girls surprised me with the Phillies game ticket as my invitations and had all of the guests come wearing a Phillies shirt or jersey. For my wedding, we are using the baseball rose for our boutonnieres.
For our table markers we did Players names on a cream colored card stock with Citizens Bank Park watermarked in red in the back ground and then matted them on red card stock. My girls are wearing red dresses to match color of team. My garter has Phillies logo on it and a small charm that is a baseball mitt and ball. We got the team to donate rally towels and are giving them as a favor as well as to use during our entrance. Everyone will be swinging them around which will look really cool on the video! We are still working on other elements but haven’t finalized them yet.
katie, i’m having a wedding celebration for my little sister. they wanted a phillies themed wedding also but had to marry quickly for health insurance purposes. thus the celebration party. can you tell me how you got the rally towels? i think that would be a great surprise for them if i could get them donated also! thanks
How did your bridesmaid make/purchase the Phillies game ticket invitations? Everything sounds like it was wonderful!
I am doing a cub themed wedding and myself and my groomsmen are wearing cubs hats the flower girl has a pink cubs dress, the ring bearor has a cubs jersey, the cake is a diamond with a bride batting and groom pitching as the topper, i also found cool great vows on the net…
i romise to love you as much as the chicago cubs, and not to hold your black and white dress against you. from this day forward, i will listen to your complaints about the mall as long if you say them during the off season, and promise to retire my baseball cap and face paint for public outings. i will love you in sickness and in health from this day forward til death do us part, or you become a white sox fan
hey :)
they are pretty cheap and framing it is easy.
i am a pretty young bride ,19, and i honestly have no idea how to plan a wedding let alone the baseball theme that my fiance wants so badly. i have no idea where to find cheap save the date cards or invitations, since im a college student and not rich by any means.
would it be better to have touches of baseball or like a full out baseball theme?
oh heres a good idea…instead of a guest book we are doing a personalized jersey that our guests can autograph with sharpies

I designed all the paper goods for the wedding stacey linked above on Style Me Pretty. I do custom graphic design and also do reprints of previous designs like Nicole and Josh’s baseball wedding. Feel free to contact me if you need help with sports wedding items.
HI!!! im looking for baseball RSVP card ideas. do you have any? :)
Courtney, I am jumping in at the last minute to help a friend with her son’s wedding rehearsal dinner at a local park a week from today and LOVE your graphics. Do you sell them and for how much? Do you do personalized pennants, etc.? I’d appreciate any guidance. Thank you.
Hi Pam,
Yes, we produce custom baseball paper items but unfortunately we are booked solid at the moment so we wouldn’t be able to produce any items by next week. Sorry we can’t be of more help!
ps My email address is baileypg@hotmail.com. Thanks again!
Thanks Courtney. Would it be possible to buy the images on the photo wall as well as your section signs and neutral pennants? Thanks for considering. (baileypg@hotmail.com)
Hey Samantha! The link Stacey left is ADORABLE! I do graphic design and had a baseball themed wedding myself. I was on a tight budget also but luckily, was able to design programs, favors, invites, etc. myself. I printed everything at Office Max though and it still looked GREAT. I’d love to help you out with anything you need! We did a jersey signing also…people loved it! :) Tickets as the favors, mad lib style rsvp, big league chew and popcorn at the tables…lots of fun!
Kristin,
I just happen to come across your comment. I am having a baseball themed wedding in August (actually getting married at a stadium). I have been searching for invitations, favors, centerpieces, etc. that go along with the theme. Do you have any pictures of the items you designed? Thanks!!!
Hey! I am having a baseball themed wedding IN MARCH! 5 weeks from today. The last thing we have to do is programs, and we wanted to do them baseball themed as well. Do you have like a template or anything you used for your baseball themed wedding programs? Thanks so much!
Hey! My fiance and I are huge into baseball. We play competitive ball and we are also including some baseball theme into our August wedding. I dont want my wedding to look like a 10 year olds birthday party so im just doing simple touches our cake topper is the groom pitching a ball to the bride. our engagement picture is going to be us with our matching jerseys with our arm around each other holding a glove and a bat looking out into our field, and our wedding picture is going to be us at the field with him pitching me the ball. We might give out wedding party Baseball hats with Team Bride, and Team Groom on them. but very simply touches. We want an ellegant inexpensive wedding with some baseball touches! Hope this helps!
If you are looking for save the date cards, check out http://www.vistaprint.com Just use business cards and make them save the date :)
Good luck on your wedding!
You could always check out baseballrose.com. They have roses made out of baseballs. Nice for bouquets, boutonnière and corsages. They are absolutely beautiful.
We used the baseball roses for our boutonnieres. They are really adorable, we ordered them a while ago. Each come in its own special clear display box so they can be saved when its all over. Also, we did our own save the dates on walmart.com and saved tons of money. We did our own invitations. I got them at target on clearance. I mix and matched because who really cares if all the invites aren’t the same. The only consistancy were that they were cream colored. We paid no more than $10 per box of 50 and one box was even $3!! I have several targets in our area so I just kept going to different ones and checking often until I got enough. We are doing little touches of baseball here and there, and not a full out theme. See my post above for some of the other things we are doing!! Good luck! Katie
My fiance and I are trying to do a classy red sox weddingat Fenway any suggestions
We kept the linens simple, except for renting 1 baseball tablecloth for our sweetheart table. We also put a bottle of red & white wine on each table – the Red Sox charity wines. We used SauvinYouk Blanc & Captain’s Cabernet. The selection changes each year, but search for red sox charity wines & the site should come up. We got them cheaper in NH :)
We also set a table of peanuts, cracker jacks & chocolate baseballs by the exit.
We were married at Camanelli Stadium in Brockton (much cheaper & we could take pictures on the field :)
May i ask where you rented that baseball tablecloth at?
I am planning a wedding with a “hint” of Tigers baseball. I am going to have each table named after a Tigers Hall of Famer. I would like to have Cracker Jacks as my favors…does anyone know if and where I can find personalized Cracker Jack Boxes???!!!
I am having a baseball wedding this December. My fiance is a rangers fan, and I’m a red socks girl. For our wedding colors we just did red and white, the color of a baseball, to avoid it being the color of one team.
We are filling vases with baseballs and flowers on top. I have smaller vases that I can use, but I need more centerpiece ideas. I was thinking of using lots of peanuts…to match the baseball theme.
Also having a baseball candy favor bar…need candy ideas and such! :)
Sonnie,
* ideas to browse
* check this out for candy ideas
I got the most AMAZING wedding invitations from this site. They were so helpful and did exaclty what I wanted. My guest all LOVED the invitations and so far they are the hit of the wedding!!

I am doing a baseball theme but I don’t know what to do for the grand march… I am at a complete loss.
Brides,

I am having a Giants themed wedding in October and I would like to know if anyone can tell me where to get tickets printed for my invitations?
Hey Kimberly! I’m a graphic designer and I’m having a baseball themed wedding in October also! I’m making ticket place-cards for myself and can make them for you too! I work for a local printer so I can print them at work or you can take them to office max/kinkos and probably print them cheaper. kkoleno@gmail.com
Kristin, I too am doing a baseball themed wedding, can you email me what your ticket place cards are going to look like?? I’m very interested in doing this….It sounds awesome! Thanks!!
katie75rn@aol.com
Katie,
Did Kristin email you back? I had been working with her for two or three weeks and she had all of the information and photos I wanted to use, but I haven’t heard back from her in 10 days. I was supposed to have a proof a week ago, so I’m very nervous. Any suggestions or ways you can help?? Her work was awesome and I’ll be crushed if I can’t use it. Thank you.
Michelle,
No I never heard back from her. I never got any pics or info from her. I didn’t email her though, I only posted here, so maybe she didn’t get my message.
I would send her another email, maybe she is just busy with lots of orders all at once?
Hope you hear from her soon!
Katie
Hi! I want to do a candy buffet but with a baseball twist. We are not going to be having any children at the wedding so I want to be careful with what I choose. I was thinking pretzels, popcorn, peanuts and cracker jacks. Does anyone have any other suggestions? What would you want to see? Also- what is something baseball inspired for the guests to put their selections in?
My fiance and I are serving hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos, peanuts, cotton candy, cracker jacks….serving our meat in hot dog boats and nachos in nacho boats, peanuts n cotton candy will be bagged and cracker jacks in nostalgic boxes (sold at walmart during july 4th cheap)…….we also tossed around the ideas of popcorn, sun flower seeds and bubble gum. Hope that helps some
Hi,
My daughter loved this idea! She will use a cake made like a baseball diamond. Her fiance’ is a coach, so we will incorporate hi school colors. You can find individually wrapped crackerjacks, etc.
This will be more fun than a fancy candy bar!
Does anyone know where I can find individually wrapped/personalized cracker jack boxes!
Where you able to find the personalized cracker jack boxes? I am looking for them as well! Thanks!
please let me know if you find any! ive been looking for the same. only thing i found are large cracker jack boxes. an idea is to do peronalized baseball card with it
I wanted to let you know, my fiance and I are planning a wedding reception with a touch of baseball theme too. He plays professionally and I played softball through college and now work for a miner league baseball team. We even met at a miner league stadium, he was playing and I was interning there, so needless to say baseball is a huge part of our life. I still wanted to have a more girly wedding, but we are adding a touch of baseball by having snacks on the tables at the reception. We are doing a big “party mix” with popcorn, peanuts, M&Ms(personalized with the color of the wedding), crackerjacks and pretzels. We are also serving hotdogs, either cut up in pieces or just using those small bite size ones (havent decided yet) We are plating those and putting pennant toothpicks in them to dress them up. Those are some of our ideas. Hope it helps. Good Luck!
all brides,
i found a real wedding with a baseball theme reception, check it out!!
*chicago real wedding post
Hey! We’re doing a baseball themed wedding too and would like to do printed baseballs as favors. Suggestions on where to order? I can’t seem to find anything good.
Thanks!!
We did printed baseballs. we had the date and our names on one side. We scanned our signatures and put them on the other side. So it looked like we autographed the ball. I got them at minisportsball.com the price depends on how much you buy. We had a big wedding (250) but with screen charge I think it came out to be about 2.50 a ball. They do have specials too. If I come across some pictures I will post them.
Thank you so much!!
Love all the ideas. We are using round paper lanterns in the center of the dance floor since they look like baseball.
Still looking for a unique idea for the card box. Thanks, Linda
We are using a “Gatorade” water cooler like they use in the doug out for the team for our card box. We dressed it up with big bows on the handles and a bow tied around it with a cardstock print on the front labeled “cards”
Our reception is outdoors and not formal at all so it works for us, but if you are having a more formal one this idea may not help.
Hi everyone…my fiance and I are working on a baseball themed wedding reception. I would still like it to be a classier type affair…so I don’t know if I want to do the ticket stub invites. Did anyone use a baseball themed invite that was more classic/elegant?
I am having a traditional wedding but I found a cake topper that is a bride and groom playing baseball. Our favor will be dodger and angel m&m’s (he is a dodger fan and I am a baseball fan)
I was thinking of having a Mets theme for our wedding and was wondering if anyone had any ideas.
Ok,
I was debating if I should put our pictures on line, but our photographer did a great blog summary of our baseball wedding. And it is out there for the world already… We did a baseball theme and he has great pictures of the cake & topper. Let me know ifyou have any questions on what we did…
i would love to see! my fiance is a college baseball coach and has played all his life, so i would love to incorporate the sport in a classy way.
I am thinking about using a baseball theme for our wedding. Could you please send me a picture of your wedding cake.
Thank you very much

My Fiance and I are mapping out our Red Sox themed wedding (we got engaged at fenway). I am looking for elegant ways to pull this off, if anyone has pictures or a website to view please let me know thanks!
I am doing the same. Did you know there is a bridal show at Fenway Park (if you are in the area) on Sept 27th. The brunch is supposed to discuss planning a themed wedding. Don’t know if there are tickets left, but worth looking into it maybe. Good luck!
I am doing a Cubs baseball themed wedding! I was just wondering if anyone had any other ideas for introduction songs besides “GO CUBS GO”. I guess it doesnt necessarily have to be baseball! I just need some ideas and this website has been AMAZING for ideas!! It makes planning your perfect day even easier!!
Hi,
We had our bridal party introduced to “All Star” by Smashmouth. As a part of their gifts, I got picture frames at Hallmark that played that song too. Nobody understood it until the wedding :)
In the programs, we also used the title “All Stars” instead of “Bridal party” and “MVP’s” for the MOH/Best Man. Our parents were “Coaches” But then, we took the theme pretty far!
This sounds so cool. What did you use for the card box?
Hey! What else did you do? My fiance and I are planning our ENTIRE wedding to be baseball. Thanks!!!
